OK I went back 25 pages or so and didnt see any discussion about this. If it has been brought up, no need to be a dick/I apologize.
Which track do you guys like better- Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt 1 or Pt 2?
Seems to me like Pt 2 gets all the play. I hear it on sirius quite a bit and I believe they played it in the American Dad episode My Morning Straightjacket. Personally I prefer Pt1
they are both so sexy
I love part 1 but I think it needs a live rework. I'm usually not one to make suggestions about how MMJ do things but that song is so powerful on the record, it could be a real doozy live and it just doesn't seem to come off that way the few times they have played it.
2....by a lot
I just went and re-listened to both of these. I feel the same about them now as I did when I first got EU...
Pt. 1 - I think that it's superior lyrically, but as a whole it's never really done it for me. I'll leave it at that.
Pt. 2 - One of the band's best songs, imo. I'll admit that it's an easy one to like, the obvious one to like of the two, but I've never been shy about my love of Pop and Dance music. On record it's immediately danceable, sing-along-able and euphoric, even shows a bit of an exploratory side (all things I love about music). It can be an absolute monster live. I love it!
Love them both. Pt 2 wins for me just because of some memories ect. attached to it.
side note, anyone know when My Morning Straitjacket is going to air again? My PVR had to be re-formated and I lost that episode, which was the very first thing I taped with it. :'(

I uploaded an .avi file of the entire episode, which you can download here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4D5T73P

You can watch on the computer, stream it to your TV or BD player, or burn a DVD, though the quality will suffer, depending on the size and type of screen you use. Still, I watch it over and over, particularly late night when fairly wasted. I think I like it better each time I watch it.
Sweet. Thanks JohnYYac :)
I like part 1 better
This is a tough one for me. If at a show, I'd rather hear pt.2, but pt.1 was the biggest hidden gem for me off EU. I was kind of indifferent on it at first, but after several listens I really, really got into that song.
Thanks johnnY! I was just wondering where I could download this today actually. :)
(Also, my vote goes for Part 2.)
I'm a Part 1 guy. Probably one of my favorites on Evil Urges. Can't go wrong with either one.
touch me part deux.
Two by a long shot.
I'd have to say TM Pt. 2. It probably got me on this Omnichord kick.
Though lyrically, Pt. 1 is more sexy (Touch me, I'm goin' to scream if you don't) vs. a more creepy Pt. 2 lyric (If you touch me, oh I just think I'd scream). One begs for your touch, the other warns away from it. Where have I felt such conflict before? Hmmm....... :-?

touch me I'm going to scream pt. 1 is nice and it's a really melodic tune but part two is a rocket ship waiting to explode. and then it explodes.
I certainly like Part 2 a lot, but I've always enjoyed Part 1 more for some reason. The "I need a human right by my side untied" section is quite possibly my favorite moment on the album.

Agreed completely!!!
I never noticed this, but are St. Vincent and Nicole Atkins singing backup in that video!?

I remember a rumor that one of the chicks was zooey but I'm not sure exactly. somebody around here knows.
I really like the chords and lyrics in Pt 1 but Pt2 makes me wanna dance and I love the slide guitar.
I am undecided.
Part 1 for me.

I can get behind this statement.
Sometimtes it just comes down to how much you wanna shake your ass.

Hey, Sticky. I've looked at this video closely and you can say with certainty about 2/3 through it that the girl on the right is not ZD. I can see why folks would assume so. I even thought I could discern her voice during the tune. But at one point in the latter half of the tune, you can clearly see the woman's face. Great video. Sounds like Jim's 'chord could use a bit more sustain, though.
Girl on the right looks a lot like Nicole Atkins, girl in the middle is St. Vincent. Definitely.
None of em are Zooey.
figured, I think she's stuck in my mind because we boned once. I met her on the set of that vegan episode of top chef. To make a long story short we got drunk and porked. M was there and was like "wtf?" and I was like "chill dude" and he was like "word".

Sticky, was that you sitting next to Tom Colicchio at dinner service? Zooey kept sending me texts during the entire recording of that episode. She can be sort of obsessive at times.

That was the night before RCMH. I thought it was Zooey then and I think I still do. Ahh Radio City. Oh what a night!

I really want to siihb bad, like real bad. something about her is smokin. probably her eyes and boobs. the voice helps. I'm smitten. I kinda want to sii joanna newsom's b more right now though. that new triple album is pretty hot.
QuoteMy Morning Jacket, with backup singers Nicole Atkins, Annie Clark aka St. Vincent, and Ambrosia Parsley of Shivaree, were on Conan lastnight. Check it out below, it's fantastic. Their new album, Evil Urges, is out now via ATO. Also, make sure to see these guys on their upcoming tour, definitely worth your time.

clever girl.
Part 2 definitely
First: Love the light show when it's performed live.
Second: I can't think of a better MMJ song to have sex too.
Third: I don't think there is a better two song pairing on any of the albums than Smokin into Touch Me 2. You could argue Anytime into Lay Low, Evelyn into War Begun or Mahgeeta into Dancefloors but I think the finale of Evil Urges wins this battle.

Agreed, it's on the same level as Us and Them/Any Colour You Like in my opinion

Yeah you're totally right about that, good point. I can't wait to see it live in person. April 30th is soooo far away

No argument there. Just sayin that combo of songs is pretty iconic for going together... Even though the flaming lips do it better =P...

You really think so? I haven't heard the entire Flaming Lips version of the album, but what I have heard I have not been impressed by.

I do, but i think it's because I've heard the Pink Floyd rendition of DSOTM a million and a half dozen thousand trillion times, and feel like the Flaming Lips rendition is just a refreshing twist on a familiar favorite.
uhhh I'm pretty sure that's not a real number... :) I got ya
I was listening to Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Part 2, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZCQV2dcSTE this one, to be exact) and it made me realize. Nothing I ever do will ever be as awesome as this song. kinda depressing, yet also freaking awesome at the same time.
this should be in here:

Pt. 1 for me by a nose, and it's because of the "I want a human right by my side...untied" part.
Part 1 is great but reminds me too much of the Flaming Lips.
Other than Dondante, you can't beat the opening lines of Part 2.
You are spot on Penny
And made me think about the way things are
Made me think about the way they could be

Pretty weird selection. I dont think its going to be drawing any new fans in but I enjoyed it. Checked out the Fleet Foxes session as well, lovely song

By the way, good call on that. Never really paid attention to that part but after seeing you and a few others mention the "I need a human ... " part, really digging it. It's been on heavy rotation for concert-psychup-prep and every time that section comes up I'm like, yeah, this is good. Looking forward to hearing it again live as I didn't appreciate it enough in 08.
pt.2 for me
huh interesting, i loved part 2 before i saw them live, because i would cruise with my friends high listening to smoking into touch me 2, so creepy and so many memories, but part 1 live is awesome. the lyrics are unmatched, and its so emotional
After hearing Parts 1 and 2 live for the first time last night, I'm going to have to change my vote to Pt 2. They freaking r o c k e d i t o u t
