Lettin' it buffer on my slow as connection right now. Thanks a lot man! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Wow. Great song. I love it. I am very excited about the album they are working on right now. I have a really good feeling about it.
Thanks for putting that up.
YES! That is what I'm talkin' about. I hope this is a new album track and I look forward to seeing this in "and beyond." Sorry Friends Again but that was the deal!
Such a straight forward, simple track that would allow for them to really stretch out if they wanted to in many spots. I also enjoyed Bo's keys coming forward during that one section. More than anything, I'm looking forward to hearing those vocals album style.
Thanks again wamsankas :)
WOW. The excitement for this new album has finally been manifested into a beautiful concrete song!
After only a few listens, this song seems to have some of the most "matured" (not in the sense of being wise or responsible, more in the ways of fine wine) vibes of any MMJ song IMO...I don't know yet if it's just the way Jim is strumming or the full incorporation of the entire band, but this song just feels damn good.
As previously mentioned, Bo's presence really makes it seem full. I've always hoped that he would be turned up in the mix after hearing his talent shine loud at Preservation Hall. Good times await me thinks!
It is as much a morning sunrise song as any I've heard ;)
Woooooooooo! What a way to start the day! Love it! Thank you so much for sharing! [ch9829]! :D
Kick ass!

Yes!
I give this song 3/3 hard nipples
AWESOME!!!
My severe case of Jacketitus is starting to itch again. Gonna be difficult to wait a couple of more weeks until Philly.
Hellz yeah
Thanks man, my goosebumps have goosebumps which have goosebumps! :D
very nice! thanks for the UL!
Ahh so good!
i caught the last half of Circuital at the Greek Theater in LA. Audio sounds best when you watch in HD 720p

I love it!
Ah those guitar tones... the one thing I was missing off of Evil Urges. I can't wait for the album, especially after this. I can picture this one as the opening track for sure. And perhaps title track?
i just watched the video and didn't blink. that song is effing great. i can't wait until they put that track down in the studio or church or wherever they are recording it. thats going to sound so great on an album and even better when they flesh it out live once they have it under their belts in some shows. if this is the direction of the new album, and hopefully its a cohesive album, i will be a happy happy man when this thing finally comes out. they never cease to amaze me.
I'm still surprised this thread hasn't blown up more. Shit, it's the first real new song we've heard in a LONG time and there is great footage of it.
Hey guys, download the incredibly friggin awesome new track here, the audio on that YouTube video is pretty great!

So legit. Hope it's on the new album for sure!

Made the trip from Phoenix to San Diego to catch the show and was treated to Circuital in the encore. It was magical live (the whole night was) and I would love to see the new album go that direction. In addition to the hangover, i spent all day saturday trying to make up to LA to the Greek but was unsuccessful....argthhh!
I think I'm already growing a personal connection with this song. Can't wait for lyrics!

I definitely made a personal connection with this song today in San Francisco. SO good.
Although the lyrics in Evil Urges are not to reckoned with, I like this style better. It's a good tell at what may be in store on the next LP. Circuital, blowing up. Circuital - is that the verb form of circuit?

Sounds adjective-ish to me.
I really dig this hybrid electric/acoustic element going on.
I don't even know how to say "Circuital", nevermind know what part of speech it is!
I like saying it "Sir-qweet-le" even though I don't think that's right.
Circuital is an adjective for an object or idea that has or displays the same characteristics as a circuit (repetition, a closed loop, a predetermined itinerary, etc.).
http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=circuit
there's no sample in this song, right?
i don't seem to feel as strongly about this song as everyone else. it's good, but i think friends again is 10X better.

Yeah, adjective makes most sense, seems to work best with the lyrical theme of the song as well. :)

oh my gawd.........
If this is an introduction to the new album...I can't wait!
I love the energy & lyrics of this chilling wonder...
Diggin' Carl's little riffs on this track too. They really shine live on this song.
(Saw the boys play this at Outside Lands this weekend)
Definately awesome. Maybe even jerseylicious (it sounds like he calls out snooki at 2:43) :D

Carl is such an impeccable guitar player that it almost sounds like his parts are pre-recorded
Edit: after giving a second listen, Patrick's drumming is so impeccable that at times it sounds like he's got a click track
I really hope that once they start playing it more, they flesh it out into a 8-9 minute beast. So many opportunities to do so as well.
Definitely has that slow build up to the climax that no band can do these days as well as MMJ
Next album title: Circuital?

Listen to how he says it at 1:03 in the clip in the OP...Def doesnt pronounce it like this.
It def has 4 syllables and sounds like what I said in the other thread, "sir-q-itall" to me
OK...I have had this song on repeat for two days now...I think I like it ;D
I can't stop listening to it...the build up is so sweet. I am looking forward to a studio version or atleast a high quality live release. If this song is on the new album, which they are recording in a church, I hope they rercord this tune in the main church hall...it will easily fill the vaulted space with its circuital energy. I can't stop moving...
Circuital rocked my world last night at Mansfield.

I agree (I even thought he said "so give it all" at first ;)) and it wouldn't be the first time he's pronounced a word a tad differently, "limber" and "river" from One Big Holiday anyone? Or is that just my foreign ears? :-? Either way, I like it! :D
I just wanted to apologize to "Circuital"...I am sorry for not taking you with me the last weekend on our family trip...I ment to grab my iPod. I missed you greatly and will never leave you again...I love you. :-*
Am I the only one who thinks this is just an okay song ? I am really not that impressed by it.
When I first heard "Worldless Chorus", "One Big Holiday", "I am Amazed" and "Touch Me Part 2" etc...I was blown away.
I like the beginning of Circuital and Carl´s guitar is awesome but the song is getting boring towards the end (at least in my opinion).
Sorry to be the spoil sport here but I am not so impressed by it like most of you here. Maybe I have to wait for the final version on the new album.

Herein lies an opportunity for us to recognize that, just as I have become unable to convince my three good friends and concert-partners of past that MMJ is THE BEST BAND ON EARTH, some of us forum faithful, die-hard fans, can disagree as to the greatness of a given song. And that's OK.
I love Librarian. Others hate it. Remnants? Love it! You?
Best album? Some say Evil Urges. Really? Not me. I'd say It Still Moves.
But we have a hell of a lot more in common than things to disagree about. That's why were here, lurkers and mega-posters like myself.
I'm digging Circuital, as are many others posting here. columba78 isn't digging it. Different strokes for different folks, eh?
I applaud columba78 for speaking his/her mind amid the vast majority posting to this thread that Ciruital is the second coming.
Having seen it live recently, I continue to feel it is destined to be a major "hit" among many of this forum.
I've given this tune time to sink in, and I have come to the conclusion that it has the potential to be one MMJ's most highly regarded studio songs, and that it is already on the road to being a live gem. I had a dream last night (set at the upcoming Voodoo Fest!) in which Circuital was the center piece, so thanks for putting up with my thoughts :) :
After listening to Evil Urges all the way through last night, I still think it is their best and fullest album when considering musicianship. I also came ot the realization that, for the most part, the fullness of the instrumental foundations of the album leaves no space for Jim's voice to reverberate around the crossbeams of our minds. With the exception of librarian, parts of look at you and smokin from shootin, the music fills in virtually all of the sonic regions that would normally be empty and available for Jim's voice to fill. This, I believe, is the reason for so many people disliking (or taking a long time to get used to) the nature of Evil Urges.
Returning from this useful digression, Circuital is arguably the first MMJ song since the release of Z to delve into thematic depth and emote those indescribable feelings contained within songs like Steam Engine or IWSYS. My point is that Circuital is an early indication that MMJ may have grown to maintain the coexistence of hollow acoustics (in order to give Jim's voice room to do its thang) and BIG epic guitar/bass/drums/keys sounds that display their incredible musicianship. I think this is their primal yin and yang, and IMO Circuital is a sign that their next album will balance these two beautiful aspects of the band we love.
Well said, I called EU a dense album and you nailed exactly what I was trying to get at. I to am really excited to hear them get back to a record that gives Jim more breathing room.
I witnessed the live rendition of this song when they opened for TPHB last week. Needless to say it totally blew my expectations considering the one time i went through it I couldnt get a feel for it. This song is really amazing live! So excited for the new album!

Hahaha, beautiful! :)
i like johnny's point and completely agree
i love circuital at this point (and am PSYCHED to see it Sunday in Philly) but no one needs to like what others really care for to be an mmj fan. i think what unites alot of us is not what songs we really dig but the mutual feeling that there are not many other bands we would care to listen to more. of the vast amount of social things {leaving out family stuff} we might want to do, not many could rank higher than seeing an mmj show. that this band is just, really freakin' special. i don't need the world to love what i love, whether its a song or a band.
songs have a life of their own. some things i don't really get now, i may really love later and songs i love at first may not rank as high as time goes on. hell, jim made "islands in the stream" sound awesome back on new year's eve!!! :D :D
ps- i go back and forth between At Dawn, ISM and Z but my dessert island disc would be okonokos

Best Album would be a tie between Z/It Still Moves and Okonokos :)
Librarian, did not like at first but now one of my favorite songs :)
Theyre definitely starting to flesh it out more...Got some versions clocking in over 7 minutes like this one. I think it actually is only getting better

Ok the best thing about this song, and most promising is, I think it mixes the "sounds" of all the MMJ albums together. You have the great guitar tones of the earlier albums along with the newer sounds of the last 2. It would be really great if the new album finds a way to blend all those sounds together like I think this song does.
Great great song and I'm really excited to hear more.
im just liking this song more and more basically to the point of loving. havent been able to get it out of my head all day. maybe its just my interpretation, but every couple verses seem like JJ's ideology or how he's using "circuits" changes to another meaning. its simple, but strong lyrically IMO. Its starting to remind me of a poor man's Steam Engine, so to speak, based on the structure, build, etc.
bigtime hoping they play it tomorrow night.
if this was on EU, it would easily already be in my top 3 on the album with Smokin and Touch Me Twice

it's been a grower for me. but it's grown like a weed, and a pretty one at that. one day it was obscure & kinda easy to pass in a quick glance. but now, it's become bigger & stronger & it's got deep roots in my soul.
hearing it live took it to a whole new level for me. and i am in love with it.
Okay, it is growing to me, but I am still not totally convinced, I believe I either have to hear it live or listen to it on the album as the sound quality on youtube is really bad....

Oooh, lovely, thanks for posting! :)
Thought this was a good tune when I heard the YouTube bootlegs -- then I saw it live. THIS SONG IS A MONSTEROUS WONDER!
There is so much energy, great use of those classic MMJ dynamics, and everyone's playing really shines. Love TwoTone's bass-lines on the ending -- so funky and so very bad-ass when you see his funkin' live. Love that classic slap echo on Carl's riffs too. Jim's acoustic rhythm elevates the song to a Townsend-esque arena anthem -- yet at the same time this tune sounds better than anything the Who ever recorded.
Can't wait for the next album!

With you on the last album, but like I said above its starting to grow on me. I can't wait to see the entire new album when its released sure there will be lots to love there.
I was listening to my Chicago recording today from the most recent tour and noticed something different about the song. I couldn't tell what it was but I knew that it was something...I've been listening to the Philly show from Penn's Landing for the past couple of weeks so I put it back in to see what the difference was and it turns out I was right. He just rearranges the chorus a little bit but I definitely like the Philly version better. I wonder which one will be closer to the album version?? If someone has already noticed this and wrote about it sorry, I just thought I would throw my two cents in. Compare them and see what you think...

Anyone care to fill in the rest......
Spin out, gracefully
Going nowhere, quickly
I'm older, day by day
Still going back to my childhood way
Circuital
Round and round patiently
Getting lost by the guide
And I'm all worked up over nothing
Circuits
Are running out
Connect my body deep into the ground
Circuits
Connect the edge of the moon and make our heavenly bodies not a moment too soon
Well you can ? open the widows or you can board em up
Satan's to crowd, Christ humble cup.
You think you find yourself out there out in the loin's den
Somebody got a up a ? tales
Or disappear into the vacuum of ?
Where you can't lose nothing but nothing can be gained
But any way you cut it
We're just spinning round
Out on the circuits
Over the hollow grounds
Out on the circuits
Over the hollow grounds
Ending up in the same place
That we started out
Right back in the same place
Right back in the same place
That we started out
Let her know ?
Lovely to see the lyrics, thanks for jottin' them down, bluesky!!
I've enjoyed this song live a couple times this year but haven't yet pursued it's greatness in full :-X Yet another beautiful song they've created where paradoxes and duality are somehow covered, and somehow leave you feeling more comfortable about both :P
All's I have to possibly add is...... could it be "you can *break* open the windows, or you can board them up?" Just listened on my laptop speakers with my space heater on, so that might possibly be spot-off.... buuuuuuut just thought I'd chuck it out there :-?
