The official term is 'drum-head mediums'.  Pfft...sticks.

yeah yeah yeah, beards, burkhas - patrick, what everybody really wants to know is what are you gonna put on your drums next?  will it be another type of bear?  if so, i vote for the gummi bear.  the most gentle and delicious of the bears.

I miss having a beard  :'(
Facial hair is a no-no with most Japanese so I have to stay clean shaven.
Man, I fucking HATE shaving!

Are there any pictures of Jim without a beard?
Maybe his Mum has a couple, what do you think?

mm hmmm.  :)

That dude's beard.  Okay, first of all, you can't even see his mouth.  His stache curls down over it.  How does he eat?  Also, what's so special about it?  Is it how full it is, or, how do people judge a good beard?  I mean it's a lovely beard, and it almost looks like it might extend to his entire body (;)), but I'm not sure what constitutes a really really great beard in other peoples' eyes.

It certainly gets points for 'fullness', no gaps and shit, I have a couple of gaps in mine and he gets away with having shorter head hair than face hair, which can be hard to carry off.

At present, I am eating a valentine heart that (seriously) said "hot mail".  (?)  Iron and Wine is on the itunes in the office, and Yumiko is figuring out what the symbols on the ninja star mean.  I will report back later.  :)

p.s.  these beards are CRAYZAY.

update on the hearts:  the latest says
ANY
TIME

I'm keeping it.

(haha the next one says
GR8
DATE - god these are hilarous

to me

and i've eaten about 43 of them, so pretty much everything seems funny.)

no more until i know what the ninja symbols mean.

We cannot believe the terrible things some of these hearts say.

HOPE
LESS

screw you, heart!

Okay, Ninja Star.

There are eight points.  I just learned that Japanese symbols come from chinese symbols.  I didn't know that.

So.  Here is the chart.  The first word is Japanese, the word next to it in brackets is the Chinene version, and then there's the English translation:

takara (hou) = treasure
makoto (sin) = truth (i find this hilarious)
yokoshima (ja) = bad. evil.
sakeru (hi/hi) = avoid. escape.  (again, hilarious)
ama (ten) = sky. heaven.
tatsu (ryuu) = dragon (yar!)
kami (sih) = god

and the last one is built from two symbols
mawari (shuu) = broadly
tori (tyou) = bird
so...  fly broadly?

Anyhow, neat-o.  I like that ninjas believed in dragons.

There must have been dragons on this planet sometime.  Whether they were dinosaurs or what, there's too many references in ancient cultures all over the world to deny that something big and flying didn't exist.

ec logic.

that is not a beard - that is a walking rug

i'm a little partial to some facial hair on a boy, but there are limits - when you start losing track of skin/the rest of the body under all that hair... !!  :o

wellll, but if that's the way yer made, that's the way yer made.  :)

further musings on the ninja/dragon theory...

I just announced to the office that I believe that dragons existed because there's so much talk about them.  Yumiko pointed out that they probably found dinousaur fossils and made scientific guesses based on what they found.

She's smart.

Well you should enter him in a cute baby contest at least once a year, because holy, he'd win.  I think that maybe Kentucky and Toronto bear the nicest babes.  :)

At least the ones that eat my hair, anyhow.  ;)

i'm officially a month and a day into my current beard. I was going to attempt to grow it out and do Moustache March, but change in plans, as I'm liking it's fullness, and really just wanting a mane. My hair has finally grown out to where it was before I buzzed it last spring, and I'm enjoying being a walking ball of fuzz again.

Getting very in touch with my inner Baloo.

I'll throw on some pics when it starts really being full. My goal is three months. and then maybe moustache may.
