Title: The Bear

Here is a pic of how their show started at Headliners Music Hall - Louisville, KY on 09/26/03, the new album's cover with the bear represented by ANOTHER bear live and in person recreated on stage in the venue, it was classic!

It wasn't until the song ended that the bear 'moved' and everyone realized it wasn't the stuffed bear from the cover, it was actually a dude in a bear costume, who went on to have a great time crowd surfing as the pic below shows.

I read somewhere they wanted to have THE Bear at the show but he wasn't available, I guess he had another gig:)

BTW Is there any significance with the cover of ISM and the song "The Bear" from Tn Fire? Anyone thought of that, or asked the band about it yet??

Have a great weekend you all....Flo

i think the bear is a great symbol for the band and the music. Let me throw in some comparisons to strengthen my point:
bears are full of raw, intense energy, so are my morning jacket!
bears are mysterious, so are my morning jacket!
bears are often misunderstood, i often have trouble deciphering song lyrics from my morning jacket!
bears are cuddly, so are my morning jacket! (note no personal experience on this one, its still just a theory)

I cannot reveal too much, other than to say:

It wasn't a 'dude' in the bear costume.

Personally, I thought the Bear was awesome...not to mention the funny assed story behind it!

I helped catch the crowd-surfing bear, and I agree--I don't think it was a dude.

Bitch?  Now, that isn't real woman-friendly, I would say.
I don't know where you're from, but here in Belgium we don't talk like that about women.  And I don't think that the woman bear would like to be called a bitch.  Nice pics though.

Must be me.  When I hear the word bitch, most of the time it comes out of the mouth of a black rapping dude , with fifteen gorgeous females sitting or driving thirty brand new sportscars. And still threathing them like dirt. At least that's what you get when watching mtv.

Hey lfish-
I apologize if I offended you...My message was definitely intended to be a "tongue-in-cheek" type of expression. Also, thanks for stickin' up for the ladies.  :-*

Love.

gotta watch for the "winky"  ;) ;)

I still say the identity of the Bear is now known...or am I wrong?

Goodness.  Such language, danilove!

All I can say is that I happened to witness this bear applying fake fingernail-claws to its bearpaw mittens before the show.

I agree with danilove, the bear was hot, and smelled nice despite the pre-existing odor of the bearsuit.

And be careful, the ladybears are known to be especially vicious.  Grrrr.  >:(

Hey that's okay danny.  I'm not so easily offended, but I didn't figure this tongue-in-cheek thing out untill I saw you were yourself from the female gender.
