Post by: Coltrane on May 08, 2004, 03:03 AM
The show was AMAZING.....second time seeing them and it was a million times better *if that's possible) Carl and Bo fit right in. Carl played a pedal steel guitar on several songs! Sounded amazing!!!

The stuff with M Ward was really cool too...

Look for the closing number---complete with MIRRORS!!!!!

oh yeah....they also passed out Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches......honest!

So they've branched out into catering?
Interesting.  Didn't see that one coming.

yeah....Jim told the story about the last time they were here in San Diego at the Scene, and there were maybe 7 people in the audience....so they made them PB & Js, and they had a grand ol' time! So they swore that every time they were in San Diego it would be sandwiches for all!!!

They were holding the mirrors when they performed "Cobra"!

Have they done Cobra live before?  It was an awesome show, you don't want to miss this tour.

I hope someone taped this one, I got the chills when they played "Way that he Sings", It was the first song I heard of theirs, Sept. 26 2001.  Steam Engine was also a highlight.  I believe they played for just over 2 hours.

A great show! It was my first, of many. Also went to the Avalon this eve. Nearly identical setlist, including Cobra, but it was shortened. Friday's version had some instrumental parts, tonight it was only the vocal part of the song.

The show at 4th and B was totally amazing! Having " one big holiday"as the opener was sick. The set list was pretty decent covering all their recordings as well as new stuff. I NEED THIS SHOW if anyone recorded it. Also close circuit to the band please play PHONE WENT WEST in Minneapolis at the Quest! I'll see you all there.

p.s. There will be a knock on your back door

I was looking for tapers and there was no mic stand in sight except the one at the board, same thing at the Avalon last night. Really a shame if these weren't taped.

Man, this show was great. First time seeing them. I did see one guy by the soundboard taping so hopefully the recording sees the light of day.

Does anyone have the setlist or a rough idea of the setlist?

Due to my own band having to jam and get ready for a gig, I was pretty mad that I missed M. Ward and most of the My Morning Jacket show.  Still, I convinced my friend to drive down an hour and a half to see what we could of the show.

When we walked in, My Morning Jacket was beginning to play the jam at the end of One Big Holiday, and it was definitely the best thing I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of shows.

Obviously, it was worth the whole drive just to see that.

I'm from southern california, and discovering bands like My Morning Jacket and the Drive by Truckers have really made me have a lot more respect for the South, and Southern Rock.  Awesome!
