I finally upgraded to DSL, and the 1st thing I did was to get the Bonnaroo cd - AMAZING!
Now, when John's FTP is back up, what do you recommend I download?
What are your favorite shows?
I have:
05/16/04 - Boulder, CO
09/26/03 - Louisville, KY ***
05/20/03 - Boulder, CO
05/06/03 - Toronto
02/04/03 - London (Jim Solo) ***
02/01/03 - New York
12/20/02 - Live Lunch, Louisville, KY
07/12/02 - Atlanta, GA ***
03/15/02 - Denton, TX
12/15/00 - Brussels (Jim Solo)
04/16/00 - Leeuwarden, Netherlands ***
*** = XXXTRA HOTT
That Jim solo show from London you have is one of my favorites and of course I highly highly recomend the Planetarium show. The Version of Come Closer from that Solo show in London is unstoppable.
I really think that the Nashville show from last June is good live. And that is NOT only because I can hear myself yell when he says Gillian Welch's name. ;) It was a great show. Very electric.
There's a soundscapes solo show from Toronto that I particularly enjoy, as well. (thanks to a special pal ;))
10/09/02 MMJ from the Mayan Theatre LA...has great sound quality.
12/15/00 Jim solo from Belgium is one of my all time faves.
1/23/02 Jim solo from Bloomington IN Bears place.
I/21/04 MMJ Carrboro,NC...great sound quality.
Listening to 9-27-03 and they do a Zombies cover of 'Time of the Season.' It's really a great show, great cover. I don't have a lot of shows so I wouldn't really know but this one sounds tres sweet to me! :)
I thought the '04 Bonnaroo set was pretty goddamned hot
QuoteI thought the 04 Bonnaroo set was petty goddamned hot
Amen,
Can't forget that one either. ;)
I would highly recommend the May 18 '04 show at St. Louis. Great set, lot of energy.
Speaking of the Bonnaroo '04 set, I purchased the FLAC files off the livebonnaroo website, converted them, and put them on a CD. However, the CD develops TERRIBLE static and white noise around the 6th track, which continuously gets worse as the CD goes on. By the end, it is unlistenable. I even reburned the FLAC files to another CD, and the problem is the same there.
If it's not too much to ask, is there anyone who might possibly consider mailing me a copy of their CD? I SWEAR, on my honor as a My Morning Jacket fan, that I did purchase the FLAC files from the livebonnaroo website, and AM NOT trying to get the CD for free. If I weren't a broke-ass college student who is saving up to purchase the Early Recording CDs, I'd just redownload them. I thought I'd try this first before I do. Anyway, let me know if you can help a brother out.
PS - I was at that freakin' show so it is REALLY a bummer that I can't listen to the whole thing without cringing from the static.
I have the audience version of the Roo 04 from the archive site...it doesn't sound quite as good as the website version, but I will send it to you if you want it,or you could just download it.

jellyfish, did you get my e-mail about the server?
Yes,I did...sending you a PM. ;)
hey tundra,
where in the heck did you get all those live shows from. there not on the archive website.
Back when I had patience, I would download them from John's FTP server, even though I only had dial-up.
that must have been a nailbiter--watching the transfer progress, hoping the dial-up doesn't disconnect...

i couldn't watch. Generally, I'd queue everything up before bedtime, and let it do its magic while I slept. Then I'd wake up in the morning and discover that I'd lost my connection in the middle of the first song.
ah, the eternal question: but is there really a "best" live show? ponder this, yoda style...
Why aren't any of Jim's shows on archive.org?
Can someone rectify this? :)
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Thanks for all the help, peeps. (mmmm...peeps.)

I've got some in mind - can't wait for planetarium (kicking myself for missing that show >:() and 9/27/03 (I made that one)
the Jim solo show from bloomington is intriguing - INXS and Eagles covers?! ??? and an early version of Steam Engine :D
Woah. Those look really sick. :-X
p.s. It's really fun to listen to shows you've been to.
i was just searching through the Nashville to Kentucky site's section of songs that MMJ has covered. Anybody know if I can find these anywhere?
The End
Don't Stop Believin
Dance the Night Away
Black Sabbath
Jump
Miss You
Race for the Prize
black sabbath is out there on a few recordings.
don't think the other ones are.
yeah good luck finding anything beyond Black Sabbath :-[
Well, I finally checked out the internet archive, and got the Headliners (Louisville) show from 9/27/03.
Best version of War Begun EVER! 10 minutes! good Lord!
