You guys paying attention to Lollapalooza this summer in Chicago?
I'm all over it. I've been reading a lot about this and my brother-in-law in Chi-town (works for WXRT) has been giving me the scoop. They say it's totally different this year as there's a new producer on board... company out of Texas that does the Austin City Limits Festival.
He says... and don't quote me... that MMJ has been approached to play. But nothing is confirmed yet. The Pixies, Widespread, Beck, Cake, Weezer, etc... also rumored to be on the bill.
There's a $35 ticket deal that starts tomorrow. The lineup wont be announced for another few weeks... but this is the chance to get in early. I for one am totally in, regardless of who is playing. For a two-day ticket to a festival, $35 can't be beat.
This was the biggest musical experience of my life when I went to the 93-95 shows... I can't wait to see it again.
Any other Chi-towners thinking about it? This is gonna be bad-ass. Summer festival in the incredible Grant Park.

Damn,I hope this is true. I was getting tickets anyhow because Beck is playing!! :) The lakefront is the best place to have it too so much better than the standard 'named arenas!!!
I'm definitely in if the Jacket and the boys from Athens, GA are gonna be there (heard rumors about Wilco, Radiohead, etc. as well)...speaking of which, only 5 more hours until the Panic descends upon Chi-town for the weekend. First shows since Summer 2003, can't wait!

Okay, I'm getting a little weirded out that there are so many announcements and nothing here. I trust in the word of the Riny and the John. Yep. That's what I'll do. I'll trust that we'll know as soon as the word is true.

Damn...no jacket on the bill. i am distraught.
Yeah, they announced the lineup this morning, it's gonna be sick! Pixies, WSP, Black Keys, Weezer, etc. and they're gonna announce more bands I think, so keep your fingers crossed for the Jacket. Man, it's gonna be so great to see these shows in Grant Park and to see Panic with all these other random bands that they would never usually cross paths with. I can't wait!
yeah, panic and the black keys almost make up for it. it will still be a great time.

according to chicago radio, only half of the bands have been signed and announced. hopefully we'll see a few more good ones added.
all of the announced jacket dates are too far away for me to drive to...so i am really holding out for this one.
I'd prefer it if they'd play the Intonation Festival. Cheaper and with better bands.

beck's not gonna be at lollapalooza b/c he's got gigs that weekend in hollywood. i'm just as disappointed as you are.
Beck is in LA on july 22 and 23. So maybe he will play sunday at lollapalooza. I heard that wilco and the white stripes might be added.
