Title: October Dates
Post by: aMillionDreams on Aug 10, 2005, 07:35 AM
I had a feeling they were going to be announced today.  But alas, no Louisville dates. :'(

Also, it seems that they are going to be touring on the day they were suppose to do Conan.  What up with that?

I hope the boys play a show in da ville before setting off to conquer the world.  But I'm sure there are some very happy jacketeers this morning!

It looks like all the dates are in October, so maybe they haven't done the November grid yet...  :)

It's very exciting, though.

I do hope so, Jacketgirl.  Even if it's invitation only or completely unannounced.  I'll be there! But I have a feeling that they ain't coming back home anytime soon. :(

oh, the trials of touring.

Oh hell yeah.........I knew this was going to be great day when I got up. first, my girlfriend missed her bus to go to work so she came home for a bit and woke me up the best way she know's how  ;), then I remembered I get to go to Vegas in less than 48 hours for my best bud's bachelor party, and finally I find out the Jacket is coming back to rock our souls at the Vic!!!!
I think I'm going to buy a lottery ticket   :D

this is exactly what's going to happen for the 2 shows at the TLA in Philly. there is a night off in between them and i was told it's to play letterman or conan, don't remember which.

I have a question, why is it that the boys don't head out West much?  ???
There is a festival being put on in Vegas (www.vegoose.com) over Halloween weekend by the same folks who put on Bonnaroo that would be perfect for the Jacket. Seeing as they don't play much out West, this would be a great way to expand their universal domination of rock and all things great.
Just a thought (or maybe wish), but I don't really see it happening b/c they wrap up the tour on Friday night the 29th in Minneapolis.
Anyone else heading out to Vegas that weekend?

they always head out west when a big tour unfolds so i'm sure they'll be over there in the coming months.

this grid is not the entire z tour ;)

Why in fucks sake will they not post any shows for Louisville. Why wouldn't they kick off their fall tour in our fair town. Thats bullshit. Either they are waiting for the E-Town movie to come out or they are planning a show here in November, i can't figure this one out. If they do decide to play here, it better not be outside or at the damn Palace Theatre. How can one sit down and watch MMJ at the same time. not physically possible.

why does the news say that Saul Williams is going to open select dates, yet on the tour listing he is not mentioned?
I saw him a couple of times over the Summer and was totally blown away. I'm not a bog hip-hop fan, but this guy is sick on the mic. A very strong and commanding vioce in the music industry, to say the least.

I can't believe it, they are playing Blue Cats in Knoxville.  I will definatly be seeing you in Nashville Corey.  I will also probably be going to Atl.  What great news this is.  I'm sure they will play Louisville and I have always wanted to see them there so I'm glad that it looks like they are going to wait a bit to play there, this way I don't go completly broke at the begenning of October.

So needless to say, one show is all i get. :(

So is Kathleen Edwards not opening in Toronto?  If not why not?  I would really like to see her open for MMJ.  And see Jim do independent thief live with her.
Guess another road trip to detroit is in order as well as going to TO.

Do you live in TO, sideroad?

I wouldn't say that Kathleen isn't opening...  Maybe some stuff has to be firmed up first before an official announcement.  As of last night, The Guvernment still hadn't even posted it on their website, and neither had Kathleen.

They're also still waiting to post about that other guy who might be an opening act.

So you never knooowwww...

Maybe they're being like Wilco and not announcing Kathleen because it's her hometown.  ;)

i'm only 17.

City Hall is a fairly new venue in Nashville, maybe if i call the owner, we could make some sort of a deal. I could offer to clean up after the event or something?  I'm not sure if it's a legal thing or what.

what a week that would be John Prine on Saturday the 1st, The Black Crowes on Thursday, and top it all off with MMJ on Saturday the 8th.
Title: Re: October Dates
Post by: EC on Aug 11, 2005, 12:42 PM
It's probably a legal thing, dude.  I know at the clubs I've worked at, guys without i.d. can't get in because the club would be shut down if they were caught.  Even if you're not drinking.

I hope Kathleen does play TO though.  I know I've heard her say before that she dosn't get good responses in TO even though she lives there.  I've become a big fan of hers after getting her latest album, and I've yet to see her live.  So to see her with one of my favorite bands would be great.

Huh.  I saw her play last time she was here, and I thought the audience went nuts for her.  And Jason Collett opened (who was on the cover of eye last week).  He had a cold, but it was a nice show.

I would go back to high school in less than a second.  Especially if I was like Spealist and seeing three shows a week.  At the time I thought it was the pits and then I grew and realized that I had it made.  I'm feeling very nostalgic today though.  I'd really like to go back to the time when mmj only played Louisville and Holland.

Cool guess that means people around TO are warming up to Kathleen.  OH and i said i havn't seen her before and that was a lie cause i saw her at TO Rocks, the Sars benefit.  I didn't know who she was then but i do remember enjoying her and being surprised at that, so i guess she made an impact on me before i even bought an album.

i co-op at school, so i work everyday at Bartley Enterprises, which i get paid 98 dollars a week and they pay for my gas. A couple of things on the side, like mow neighbors yards and help musicians pro set up equipment at local shows. I know about concerts months ahead of time so i usually put money aside for each one. For instance, i already have enough to pay for top dollar John Prine tickets so i'll start saving up for Crowes tickets.

oh and just for the record, my parents haven't paid for any of my concert tickets, so no i am not a spoiled richie rich, i earn my all of my tickets and that's why i got to several concerts a year.  It also helps that i live 45 minutes from Nashville.

Specialist, I didn't mean anything by my comment. I just figured you had a sweet job. Hell, I got a job 2 weeks after I turned 16 and spent most of my money on CDs and guitar gear. The only bill I had then was my car insurance, which was like $32 a month or something like that.
For the record, I don't want to go back to high school... just the summers in between school when I was working and spending my money freely.  :)
