Title: Toronto tickets
Post by: sideroad32 on Aug 29, 2005, 04:09 PM
Anyone know when the Toronto show goes on sale or if it is already where to get tickets?
I didn't buy them from the bands site cause shipping to Canada was $15!

Yeah, Canada's expensive.

sideroad, I might actually go to the venue or to a music store that sells tickets myself to pick them up.  If I do, I'll letcha know and I'll pick some up for you, too.  :)

I've been checking for a few weeks and the MMJ direct ticketing says they're not available thru them...interestingly the Guvernment site has yet to list this show, and Ticketmaster Canada has no info either...I'll be closely watching this post to see where to get them...

Regarding Toronto tickets...
No luck on the MMJ web site or TicketMaster. They (TM)said it was too early to be posted and sold for the Oct 19 show. Also the TicketMaster operator said they do not sell for shows at the Guvernment.? That info should be incorrect because I've seen shows there before and purchased tickets thru ticketmaster.
Then I phoned the Guvernment and they had no knowledge of the show (416 869 0045), but said not all shows announced on band web site keep up with their announcements.  That being said, when it is announced and I get tickets I'll pass the info on to anyone.
Thanks and good luck to ticket seekers.
Suggestion for open act Richmond Fontaine, Great Lake Swimmers, the Skydiggers would fit the bill nicely.

Quotephoned the Guvernment and they had no knowledge of the show

Very odd, considering someone with MMJ must have booked the show for them...

Maybe the Hip will open for them ;)...

Oh god that would suck so bad.

In my head, they're just going to play for seven hours.  And all will be right in the world.  :)

We have to sort this shit out, dudes!

So, I thought that Kathleen Edwards was going to be playing in Toronto, and that, I don't know, whatever I thought.

But she isn't.  She's playing in Buffalo that night.  (I just checked her website - she said nice things about My Morning Jacket being gentlemen, too.  :))

So, huh.

Maybe it WILL be a 7 hour set!!   ;D

They were up for sale with all the other tickets intially but not now. so another curious thing.
I think i will wait for ticketmaster unless we hear otherwise.

TO tickets are not available as yet...  I called Rotate This yesterday and the dude said that there weren't selling tickets, yet.  So I said "yet, as in, you know about this?"  And he said, "Well sure I know about it, everybody's talking about this show." :)
But then I said "So, what's the deal?"  And he said he didn't know, and there's still no info on the Guvernment website.

So that's all I know.  :)

But it seems like this might be a seller outer possibly.  I know that I have about a million people going.

Just read the press release.  Am I crazy?  Did they play Glastonbury this year?  I thought that was last year...

Maybe I'm on crack.

Still no mention of an opener.  I actually don't want them to announce an opener, in a way...  I really really kind of hope it's all them.  Mmmmmmm.  A big long rock session.

Man it sucks that it is 19+.  A bunch of my friends are going to be mad...
But I'm old so it won't matter to me.
Most shows there are all ages wonder why this one isn't?

I heard there's gonna be topless Go-Go girls on stage.
Too much too handle for the kids I guess :o

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Really, most shows at the Guvernment are all ages?  I didn't think that was legal in a nightclub...  (I haven't been there for ages, though...)
Title: Re: Toronto tickets
Post by: sideroad32 on Sep 13, 2005, 02:36 PM
Well all the shows at the Guvernment I've been to have been all ages (ok its only been about 2 shows). But also every show I've been to at the Koolhaus which is in the same complex, has been all ages, and I've been to countless shows there, about four this year alone.
So it seems odd to me.  And fans of all ages should be allowed to experience the jacket.
Wonder how they decide these things?

I'm going to wait until friday as ticketmaster has free shipping for tickets so, thats the best deal for me right now.

This can't be happening. All you guys get to go enjoy the show, while i have to sit around at home and pine away because i'm under 19. What a shame that I've waited so long for this. The thing that bugs me the most though is that this is like the only 19+ show the venue has for months on either end. Sheesh sheesh sheesh.

Alex, if you look into it, I'll pretend I'm your aunt or whatever.  If that's allowed, we'll getcha in. ;)

(I wonder if I know a bouncer there... hm.)
