Turns out I'm gonna go to both shows now. Any idea how much the Jacket will switch up the setlists from night to night?
They don't usually play the same city back to back so it's kind of hard to say what will happen. I will say that they usually don't switch the set up to much they may change the order or play a couple diffrent old tunes. My guess would be that they'll play about 13-15 songs each night and probably play two or three diffrent ones on the secon night.
eh, i guess i can live with the Jacket for 2 nights.
I was under the impression the first show would be the whole band and the second would be Jim solo??I am almost positive this is how it was listed in the beginning I'm gonna check this out now.

coltrane:
there's plenty of parking down at the end of south street. its metered until 10 or so. if you would rather pay a flat fee, there's a lot off of columbus right at the base of south street that's usually around $5, but i'm not sure if they'll jack the price up for a friday
wow, this is getting pretty close

slimsolsider!!!!!
Thanks, man! I haven't really gotten a decent response to my month long query until now!
My wife and I will be at both shows this week....look for us. We'll probably be there early and up front for both. At one show i'm sure I'll wear my "silver jews" t-shirt. I did for the other two shows I went to over the last two years in california and they turned into amazing nights (as if the Jacket could ever not deliver......they're like Santa Claus that way!)
"I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it!"
I'm definately in on Wednesday night, and hopfully it will pour rain Fri. and I will hit both shows that day as well.
I will be at both shows. My name is Mickey. I have red hair , and i will be loaded! Look 4 me ;D
i'll be there. i'll be the one with magnificent nipples
I have one extra ticket to the Weds. show, which I believe is sold out. My friend bailed on me. I'm obviously still going, but have this one ticket to get rid of. Any takers? I won't sell it above the ticket price.
I'll be the tall linebacker looking one with a shaved head and a goatee... I don't know how magnificent my nipples are... but oh what a stunning physique. yeah.
coltrane:
i'll look for you friday. i've got this habit of wearing the shirt from the last show i went to, so i'll either be sporting a jonathan richman or new pornographers t. i'll probably stop by the blarney a couple doors down for a couple cold ones beforehand, if you're up for it.
Tonights the night, fuckers. Its 7:06 AM and I've already got anxiety gas :(
Countdown till doors - 10 Hours ;D

2nd
and 3rd will be friday :)
I'll be at the show tonight with Horkolad. I'll be the guy dressed as Mongolian Warlord.
I'll be at the show on Friday night with my wife, Horkolad, Half, Half's other half, Tom, and Barb. I'll be the guy holding a Nintendo in my mouth while I jump rope.
I'm just going to be the guy who drills a hole in the side wall, lines it with ground beef, and then fucks it. :-/
i'll probably just sing along, maybe dance a bit
Quotei'll probably just sing along, maybe dance a bit
guys like you are a dime-a-dozen, 1/2. Get with the schtick, huh?
i might have a few beers and maybe raise my arms a little
These shows are getting really close. Have fun anticipating, folks!
I'll be the guy dressed like Jim James, on stage, singing. You might see me there.
SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! SO PUMPED!! this is like my 7th mmj show, but there is no doubt that i have ever been this excited for one...theres something in the air today...too much electricity from this damp weather or something, i can't wait for mmj to rock the roof off the TLA as they always do...it's always been my favorite place to see them, more than bonnaroo, more than anywhere!!! I AM PUMPED, i'll be going solo alone, shorter, beard, rugby sweatshirt, black shirt, reebok classics (always)...my name is chris...and i can't wait to share the experience with everyone tonight...have a safe trip in.

any pointers on where to park, where to stand for the show? I want to get as close as possible..HELP!
yo, yea man, parking on south street can be a head ache during the weekend, but on a wed night shouldn't be too bad...tla is around 5th i think? (don't quote me on that) so start looking(for parking) around 9th st...it's a nice walk...free parking after 9PM so you only have to pay the meeter till 9PM...you shouldn't sweat the parking, never really had problems with it...i've never been to a show were the sound was shitty at the tla, i really like this venue...my favorite place to stand is right by the band..especially with mmj...i know i'll be up front.
storm, are you a fellow rugger?
big, yea i am!! you too??
is the show on fri really just jim james acoustic???
am i not gonna be able to see all of mmj if i dont go tonight???
man-was takin my sis for her first show too ???
no jamie, i'm almost positive it is mmj the full band both nights...they would have advertised it, and still would have it posted as Jim james solo, it wouldn't even make sense for him to do that...they just came out with a new album..
thanks! not that i don't look forward to nay jim james solo i can hear.....i just wanted my sister to see the whole band as i ahve seen them so many times-i am so excited to share it with her! ;D
Solid show last night. Everything off of Z except "Into the Woods" and "Knot comes Loose"...all other songs were off of It Still Moves. From what I remember: Magheta, Golden, One Big Holiday, I will Sing you SOngs, Run Thru, Rollin Back, Steam Engine.
Surprised they didn't get into TTF or At Dawn at all. Maybe Friday, lets hope.
Show rocked, though...
i dont remember rollin back
but they did play lowdown tooo and golden was w/ kathleen edwards
Quotei dont remember rollin back

Thats what I ment, they played Lowdown (not rollin back)....so yea, they played one from At Dawn. My bad.
steam engine. nice.
Was it just me and my two friends or was the sound (especially Jims vocals) crap last night at TLA?
That room just seems to get worse acoustics as time goes on.
That said, the show rocked but I'm not sure if half the crowd "got it". Everyone in the balcony especially did nothing but talk thru the entire show.
I agree PatricSaint. Most people didn't "get it." But they probably just don't feel it the way we do. I mean, most people I saw were rockin' out, but not many of them were as mezmerized as me and my wife. The music is so much more than just good music to us. In fact, on the way home, we were trying to express our feelings about the band and just ended up in near tear silence.
We were up front, though . Center stage, second from the front. So we were totally engaged the entire time. And we thought it sounded great! So, maybe where you were standing just sounded bad.
If you're coming on Friday night, just look for the beautiful girl with the long black hair and a big ol' nerd wearing a Silver Jews shirt and we'll form a pocket of Jacket Love that cannot be penetrated by assholes!!!!
oh, I forgot to say that "wordless Chorus" was fucking amazing!!! The way Jim was standing and moving with the mic reminded me of Otis Redding.....he was feeling it so much!!! And during "Lay Low," I was moved sooooo much that I almost picked up my wife off the ground without even realizing it
!!!!!
I cannot wait until Friday! Viva La Jacket!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100% of what you just said. Where I was, center stage between Jim and Tommy about 3 rows back, Jim's voice sounded muffeled and muddy. I attributed it to that I was listening off his monitor and not the house speakers...I may move back a little bit for the friday night show.
But, yeah, the crowd was kinda lame...I only saw a few rocking out really hard (especially the taller skinny kid with the long shag hair that was to my left)...I try not to let the other people that were just standing there get me too worked up...afterall, its all about my enjoyment.
I agree that the sound wasn't too hot...I want to stand a little further back on Friday, maybe let it "reach us" a little better. I couldn't hear a damn thing Jim was saying :\

After seeing jim and the band a few times I have realized up front is NOT the place to be. I stood in the back of the bottom section thru Golden then moved upstairs to the balcony. The sound was 10x better up there, but people were talking nonstop and I almost flipped out but thought better of it(I'm about 6' 275 with a beard and bald head so me yelling at girls probably isn't a good idea.) Even below the sound was way off for the first couple of songs but got better. There were some people rocking out a little near me, but I would love to go somewhere like Louisville where the whole crowd would be busting everything up. Run Thru was freaking holy awesome, the whole show pretty much rocked. I was with a friend who was a newbie and he thought they were pretty good. Didn't think that Kathleen Edwards really added anything to Golden. Kudos to the guy in the white hoodie in the center, that dude was bouncin up and down the whole time.
Great show last night. Hadn't originally planned on going, but a friend called at 6 with an extra ticket; and at that point, how could I say no?
I only have Tennesse Fire, Chocolate & Ice, the Christmas EP and It Still Moves. I've been meaning to get At Dawn for some time now and will definitely have to get Z.
Being most familiar with the stuff from It Still Moves, those were the highlights of the show for me.
I thought that Kathleen Edwards was great too.
Overall a fantastic evening of music, and I'm really hoping someone taped it!

Thanks man!
Anybody have any idea how they come up with the set for each night. I'm going to see them on Tuesday in NYC and am just trying to figure out what they might play. The earlier postings had the guys playing stuff from Z, It Still Moves, At Dawn, and TF, but one of the most recent posts from the Philly show said they didn't play anything from TF and only one from At Dawn. Just curious....thanks.
Will be at the nooner ;D woof
can you smoke in the TLA? I was at a show there a while back that was no smoking. I dont know if that was a request by the band, or a club policy.....
Did a recording of either of these shows ever surface?
i went to the friday show. i liked hearing ignition (remix) right before mmj took the stage.
