Title: Thanks Jim!  - SF Friday set
Post by: Hal_Incandenza on Nov 12, 2005, 04:16 AM
Titanic set.  Thanks guys.

Wow, they really brought the A game tonight.   This was my second show, ever.    I saw the SD show on Tuesday, and thought that was tremendous.   This kinda blew it away.    Nice turnout of folks in costumes for the filming, too.

Here's my mediocre stab at the set list, someone please fill in the blanks or correct.

Wordless Chorus
It beats 4 U
One Big Holiday
? (The Way That He Sings?)
golden
sooner
x-mas curtain
what a wonderful man
gideon (acoustic)
hopefully (acoustic)
bermuda highway (acoustic)
?
lay low? (starting to get a bit substance impaired around here)
dancefloors
off the record
dondante
run thru?
?

encore
how could i know
?
?
anytime
mahgeeta

Beg, borrow, steal, or buy the DVD when it comes out (one would hope the latter).   If you still have a chance get a ticket for Sat.   Oh man.

-Hal

So glad to see that they played "Dancefloors". I hope that one makes the DVD. I fucking love that song and they haven't done it much on this tour.

Is that Johnny quaid and the maestro or AS the maestro?

Either way, that's fuckin' great!

Also, "hell" and "picture" right there together? Are you shitting me?
Jesus, I'd give damn-near anything to be at these shows.

I was confused, too.  Riny meant that the maestro was there, AND JQ was there, and they were part of the N2thewoodz men's choir.  :)

It wasn't the booze so much that started to do me in.
 ;)

The Filmore stage design  was pretty cool without being obtrusive.   A foresty painted backdrop with a couple of real trees and/or tree branches just in front of the backdrop to give it some depth.   They had leafy vines hanging down from the curtain rod going the length of the stage.   Looks nice next to the Fillmore's crystal chandeliers.      They did some good lighting effects this time (compared to the SD show I saw).    The strobe lights synched up during some of the jammier  moments was really effective.   I think it'll look great on the DVD.     Here's hoping.    I hope dancefloors makes the DVD too,  great song to see live and I haven't seen it on many of the set lists this tour.

Shit, this concert was so good man. I was the first or second person to walk in, so there were several of us in the forest for about 40 minutes before saul came on (by the way, Saul Williams is one of the most profound lyricists i've ever seen perform, really amazing show). Really got a good look at the stage and stuff. This was probably one of the best concert experiences i've had so far in my life of sixteen years. The performance was so high energy, i don't know how they do it. This music is so good live, i couldn't stop smiling after the show.

Yeah, I've really been enjoying what I've been checking out.  I hope they have a little section of his on the DVD.

Christ Jim!!! You put on an amazing performance. I was standing directly front and center to the spot you chose to go to when you would walk to the edge of the stage. Your energy flows like nothing I have ever experienced, true brilliance.  As for the energy of My Morning Jacket as a whole, I don't think I will ever be able to fully explain in words what I felt at that concert. You all obviously put in an incredible amount of power into the Fillmore show on the 11th. I'm not going to say anything more except thank you for the most amazing spectacle I have ever seen and the most genuine performance I have ever felt.
