My Morning Jacket...you guys rocked the Fillmore so hard!!! You rocked it!! So good.
Both nights were epic and beyond words.
Thank you so much for putting so much effort and love into these two nights. The music you played is blissfully awesome, like an enchanted forest filled with surreal creatures and magical vibrations.
I have been enjoying live music at the Fillmore for many years and nothing even comes close to Friday and Saturday nights sets. Nothing. You guys played simply every single one of your best songs - two full nights worth of music. I wondered at times during some of the extended jams if this is what it was like to see Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, or the Allman Brothers back in the early 1970s, with so much passion for rock and roll. At times I was reminded of a live Grateful Dead show, with your passion for coating the audience with powerful and joyful music. Live music has never sounded sooo good to me.
Thanks MMJ for an amazing couple of nights of solid rock and roll.

IT'S A COSTUME PARTY AT THE FILLMORE AS BAND FILMS A FITTING DVD
By Shay Quillen
Mercury News
If you go to hear My Morning Jacket this weekend, make sure you're in Victorian formal wear. Or perhaps an elf costume. And feel free to carry a bouquet of petunias or a glowing wand.
You see, the band from Louisville, Ky., decided a couple of weeks ago to film its Fillmore shows for a live DVD, and its frontman is asking the audience to help create a magical vibe.
``Think olde-tymey fantasy forest -- or just dressy,'' says the note from Jim James on the Fillmore's Web site.
Should we assume the band knows exactly what it's doing? Think again.
``It's not this controlling `we want everyone to dress up like this because this is what we're going for,' '' says the band's keyboard player, Bo Koster. ``We don't even know what we're going for. We have no idea. We just want everyone to have fun and be in the moment and use their own imaginations, along with us.''

It's early, but did I miss the setlist from Saturday elsewhere? I figure that they probably played a few songs on Saturday that weren't on Friday's list and they left a few off.
Just curious. You think I'll be able to choose the setlist in Dallas? I used to tell them "I have carefully prepared tonight's setlist!" Surprisingly, none of them have ever thrown a punch at me! I suppose there's still time, though.
Low Dog
I haven't seen a setlist either. Everyone is probably still asleep from having their faces rocked off last night. Looking forward to seeing that setlist myself.
i'll predict that there was definitely a Strangulation and a Steam Engine....maybe another Jim acoustic set, and some Tennessee Fire stuff
I predict the setlist will be almost identical to friday's. I like to see War Begun on the DVD because that song kicks so much ass live.
They did play a sweet Steam Engine in the first set and an amazing Strangulation as part of their 30 minute encore. They closed the show with Anytime
There were a many repeats of course (mostly from the new album - off the record, worldless, it still beats, etc.) but most of the songs were not repeated and from at dawn and it still moves. I didnt memorize the setlist but I am sure others wrote it down and can post it shortly.
i've seen mmj at the fillmore 4 times now; its like a fine wine and just keeps getting better and better. next they come to town they will probably be playing sports arenas.
there was also a nice writeup about the band in a local paper here this week.

THE BEST FUCKING CONCERT I HAVE EVER SEEN/EXPERIENCED!
Jim - you truly are a master singer, song-writer, idea-capturer, and the fact that you choose to surround yourself with such amazingly talented musicians is a tribute to your intelligence and respect for the musical creative process you posess in ABUNDANCE. I really wished you would have JUMPED into the crowd!! Thank you to the nth degree and beyond. You made my entire YEAR Friday and Saturday nights!!!!!!!
We LOVE you!

These three back to back to back last night!? Y'all were in Heaven! Did anyone pass out at the show? It would be like Woody Allen on marijuana....he once joked that he never smoked it because it made him "too wonderful!" So at least there's hope for Oxen in Dallas.
Possible but not probably, I'd predict. Glad to hear it was
such a monumentous occasion and that our fearless web-
master was there in all its glory as a witness!
Have fun,

I have been trying to get my brother into the band for sometime now. He always tells me that he doesn't like MMJ, that their music is too slow for him. He usually teases me with a pretend yawn if I listen to them when he's around. Well, he went with me to the Sat. show to celebrate my birthday, and this morning he asked me if he could borrow all of my MMJ albums.
Mission accomplished!

They ARE the Inovators!!
For sure!
There really are few words that can describe the sets at the Fillmore, they were timeless and magical. I was lucky enough to make quickie travel arrangements and get out there for those shows! Couldn't dress in Victorian garb but managed a little bit of fun attire! The guy dressed as Z was awesome, I think Jim even said he dug the costume from the stage.....
So...a mini review.....the stage set was truly an enchanted forest which totally assisted the mood for these shows. It felt surreal and almost like a fairy tale! The moss hanging down from the ceiling and the various shades of green seemed almost real at times. It looked like a stage set for a play -really well done!
And hell yes...the band is sounding incredible and it seems like they are settling into the Z songs more and more, Laylow and Gideon are quickly becoming one of my fave live tunes from Z, they seem to have that ability to let you lift off like Run Thru does. You find yourself just lost and wishing the song would go on indefinitely!
Other highlights from Saturday were Death, Bermuda Highway, I will sing, At Dawn...and How Do You know was really a stellar moment, people were just motionless watching the band and Jim belt this one out!
And the posters were AWESOME, hopefully someone will take a pic of theirs and post it here...not sure if anyone has yet.
All in all this will make for a DVD for the ages! I feel blessed that I was able to see these shows and witness history in the making!
My favorite band and my favorite venue for two nights and about 5 hours of total fucking bliss. Highlights for me were many; they absolutely blew my head off with laylow, run thru and gideon both nights and one big holiday was surreal when the crowd sang loudly the first verse along with jim " was a bad man from california". They really have their sound polished and dynamics tight. THis show was twice as loud as the last time they played here and when the guitars, bass and drums crash simultaneously it just crushes your skeleton.
Comparing both shows I would say that jim was raring to go on fridays show with his voice and stage presence off the charts. Saturday he seemed more relaxed and his voice was a little ragged but it was great because he just belted it out.
I'm glad to see they stay true to their past and continue to have acoustic songs included in their sets. Bermuda highway always gets me. I started to tear up both nights when jim sang "don't let your silly dreams fall inbetween the crack of the bed and the wall."
I've seen many concerts over the past 20 years and I can't name one that was this amazing and pure.

Oh yeah! Love watching that Members number go up, up, up on a daily basis, too. Welcome all of ya!
I have pictures of myself as "Z" but can't figure out how to post images. the insert image tag is confusing. can anybody help?
"Z"
Yeah, once you hit insert image put your cursor in between the two img thingys then paste the link. I usuall put a space between the link and the img part on each side. Hope that helps, I really want to see the picture.

try pasting the link in there again. Make sure it is the entire link.

I've tried everything I can think. It still won't let me paste the picture. I'll have my wife try when she gets home from work.

The lovely a_delle
This is still not working right. I (the "lovely" wife) have taken over and can only post a link (not the actual picture)... any other advice...? The Help site is not really all that 'helpful' in this arena.
But, thoughts of that fuckin show keep me tryin!!!
You've posted a website, as opposed to an actual image... Does that make sense? It needs to have a file extension that is either a jpeg, or a gif, or something like that... You can always set up a photobucket.com account, and then upload whichever pictures you'd like to share, and then it'll give you the tag urls, and you can cut and paste them between the image tags here.
Does that make sense?
Yes, it makes sense, and I have tried it as jpeg, bitmap, zip and transfer from website... hmmmm. ??? Guess I'll keep tryin but don't want to bombard the forum with a buncha CRAP! (LOL) I just wanna put our pics up (, whines a_delle)! ::)
(just so's you know, you can modify your posts... :) NOT that i care, because i don't, you can post as many tries as you want, but if you felt like keeping the attempt down, you can just keep editing. if'n you want.)
Lemme try something...

(Didja mean these ones? I scooped them from the website you posted above, and moved them to my photobucket account. I will totally take them away if you'd like, or if you want to keep them here, seeing as your having problems, that's fine, too. Whichever you'd like.)
(Very lovely pictures.)
Those weren't from the SF show, but, yeah, those were from my site. The ones I was trying to post were of our costumes/paintjobs( ;D)... But, yeah, you showoff! ;-)

(do you want me to put your costumes up, too?)
The body paint looked outstanding but I didn't see anyone dressed as Z. Is that on the site you posted?
that URL didn't work for me...anybody else?
can i just say FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!?
I just set up a photobucket account, uploaded the pics and copied/pasted the image
like this

but let me try this
(//<img%20src="http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/a_delle/MMj%20at%20the%20Fillmore%2011-05/Copy2ofPICT0065.jpg"%20alt="Image%20hosted%20by%20Photobucket.com">)
and then this

I don't know how else I can try but I hope one of these works.
You may not have seen Z 'cause he was soooo dark (all in black except for face and hair paint). I was worried I might lose him in the crowd!!!!
It worked.
Nice Job!!!!!!!!! ;D
That would probably scare the absolute shit out of small children. What did your son think?
Now that I got the hang of it (sorry to all of you that had to witness my repeated ineptitude...LOL)
Here's me too and a couple other photos

In addition to the photographic coolness, I got excited enought when Sam (the photographer) was taking our pics that I started asking questions. I wanted to know if there was ANY way that we could meet the band after the show and show them and tell them how dedicated we are/were to enhancing their venue. I also wanted to know if Jim and the guys would SEE our pictures and would they be involved in helping pick out the pics they wanted, etc. Sam said Jim would DEFINITELY be looking at and picking the pictures (FUCKIN COOL!) Sam told me on Saturday night that he had gotten good crowd footage of us Friday in these outfits
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/a_delle/MMj%20at%20the%20Fillmore%2011-05/PICT0058.jpg)
and that we would DEFINITELY show up in the DVD!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/a_delle/MMj%20at%20the%20Fillmore%2011-05/PICT0062.jpg)
I spent three hours doing this makeup job, so I HOPE it shows on SOMETHING! ;D
Thanks again for all your patience... I learn quick usually!
Cheers!

Okay, this is the LAST picture (sorry to indulge myself so much...)

So, if anyone saw us, AWESOME. I know Jim looked our way and saw us both nights and Z said that the keyboardist looked at and smiled at him before the show on Saturday night. Nice to be recognized anyway ;)
The scarf tied around my right wwrist in the picture is the one I threw to Jim on Saturday night as they were setting their guitars down and leaving the stage. I asked theroadie to make sure he would get it if possible, and he said he would make sure (don't know if he really did or not, but I can be hopeful).
Also, I had the white boa on Friday night and hope I didn't block anyone's view too much, but the way the blacklight caught it, I couldn't help but play with it! ;)
