i can't wait... this is my first official show, the one time i saw them they were opening for wilco which was righteous but not the same, surely... coming down from NW arkansas for my birthday to party with y'all! any idea what the capacity is for the GTR? i lived in dallas and never went there. and also... is it dorky if i wear my "it still moves" shirt?

i do think its considered a party foul to wear the t-shirt of the band youre going to see.  you can just tell people you bough it at the show to avoid lynching, though.   ;D

oh man... is it really a faux pas? that sucks... i mean, doesn't MMJ want to know that i spent ALL my beer money on a t-shirt? or that i love them so much as to risk public humiliation? i guess i'll leave the shirt at home... one more question... will people beat me up if i yell for freebird... their take on it in elizabethtown was incredible...

according to citysearch, looks like about 600 on the bigger ballroom side.  (http://dallas.citysearch.com/profile/9612426?ulink=section_11+13+14+15+16+17+25_browsevenues_5___profile__1)

and I do think its a little odd to wear the band shirt to the show (it was a something not to as stated in the classic college movie PCU), but do what you want.  I dont think there is fashion police at the door.

looks like tickets are still available, but I bet there is going to be some good walk up sales.

wear your MMJ T-shirt to the show man. I mean, who really gives a fuck? (and if it bothers someone, that's their fucking problem).

Life is too short to worry about what others think.

and there's only 1 way to find out if you'll get beat up if you yell freebird.

I'm with you.  I didn't even know it carried problems until this board.  Who would possibly care if you wore a shirt that supported the band you were seeing?  Is that even a serious thing?

Stuff like that makes me want to wear a My Morning Jacket t-shirt and make some My Morning Jacket pants and a My Morning Jacket sweater with a My Morning Jacket jacket and put My Morning Jacket pins all over my clothes, and throw on a viking helmet, and wear them to the palace.

It's nice to be proud and excited and supportive about the band you like!!  Wear your damn t-shirt!!  :)

don't miss Will Johnson of Centro-Matic fam.  Good stuff.  Any clues about when each set will start?  Going to grab a few beers and want to time it out.  If GTR sells out there are some really bad places to be in their.

Agreed.  I walk in at 9:30 thinking Will Johnson is about to take the stage and it's MMJ.  the place was packed and hard to get a good spot for viewing.  Hope everyone enjoyed though.

check out http://www.franksart.net/ and scroll to the gypsy link.  If it's not up soon, maybe Frank'll send ya a pic.  He's had previous MMJ paintings posted there, also.

Last night made show #9 for me.  One thing about Dallas crowds... they won't shut the hell up during a show.  Seattle had a larger crowd, but they actually stopped talking when the band was on up there.  Down here, there seems to be too many people going to be seen, not to see.  I know the day's of the intimate show/setting are over, which makes sense since MMJ's  a little more rockin' these days, but people need to respect the band and the fans.  Perhaps "the way that he sings" was skipped over because JJ knew that nobody would be able to hear him sing it.

Well, that's my rant, and I feel better.

Thanks again Patrick!  See ya as ya roll up next time.

lordy, 10-4 on the people not shutting the hell up in dallas! we were standing in the second row and behind us were four ditzy ADD-afflicted brats with their dude friends who wouldn't stop sounding like they were puked out of an episode of Laguna Beach (aw mah gawd you gahys, like, like, like, ugh, ya knawh?)... and then this one a-hole answered his cell phone during david dondero's set which is extra lame because it was just an acoustic guitar and some drums so WTF?! i mean, hey, i'm glad MMJ is getting lots of people to come out to the show and i don't want to be elitist or keep the jacket all to myself, but it seemed like the poseur quotient was blazing last night. idunno...
i was at a shins show a while back in montreal and there were all these girls who saw garden state and so knew exactly two songs and kept screaming like banshees... am i just bitter and old?

So Son Volt shirts are o.k. though, right? My buddy & I weren't doing any talkin' last night, we were too busy freakin' smooth out. A seven hour bus ride to Dallas, lots of booze, a one hour flight home & nine hours of work & I'm still so giddy I can't get to sleep.
