Thank you, mmj-booking!

MMJ at Garage in Oslo. I'll be travelling 300 miles for that one, for sure. Better get my ticket sooner rather then later.

I've already bought my ticket for the Oslo show. I just couldn't stand the thought of not having secured one. Garage isnt the biggest venue, and this will be the show of the decade!

Well, it makes sense if they're moving, you know, eastwardly...

i know i know... just be nice if someone decided to come west for a change. we're actually not THAT far from the west coast of US afterall.  they'd be jetlagged by the time they got here (what with all those timezones dateline etc) but do you really need an excuse to relax for a few extra days in sunny melbourne?? ;)

When did MMJ jacket last tour Australia, Ali?
Did you see them then?
How often do US & UK bands come to Australia?

If a band can break Japan they usually keep coming back.(Japanese CDs & concert tickets are very expensive!)
I have no idea how well Z has sold here but hope it's sold well enough to justify a tour soon.

i think mmj last toured here in 2003 - i didn't see them then, really only got into them in the last month or so... bummer! it would have been great, as usually new bands play smaller venues when they first come over here which is so much better than a huge gig.

some bands come a lot more often - i guess it depends on fan-base/money available etc. must cost a bit to get here, and to get around to play gigs... big names do get down here, mostly in december/jan for festivals or june/july for the odd winter festival (warm-ups or stopovers for bands doing european/us summer festivals).. it seems like lots of bands are around for a short while, then no-one comes for ages. in july in the space of a week i saw qotsa, doves & interpol. then sigur ros the next week. best 2 weeks of my entire life

fingers crossed for the tour... how much are cds in japan?

A japanese CD costs 2500Yen (US$21 AUS$29)
Concert tickets are the big one. The very least you'll pay to see a band in Japan is 5500Yen (US$46 AUS$63)
I just paid 6500Yen for my White Stripes ticket.

That's why it's so profitable for a band to break Japan.
I spoke to The Roots when they came over & they told me they lose money touring in Europe & make it back touring Japan.

prices sound about the same as here - full price for a new cd is AU$30.. concert tix can vary - i think sigur ros were about AU$75 (but i would have paid just about anything) but most more lowkey bands are anywhere from AU$45 - AU$75...

sometimes it seems a bit steep, but as you never know when they might come over again, its usually worth the dosh

bands must love places like japan & oz - captive (desperate) audiences who're pretty much guaranteed to pay the price...

Wow - I thought only Japanese concert tickets were that expensive.
Like you I'm happy to pay whatever it costs.
I saw Doves a few weeks back & just bought tickets for The Coral, White Stripes & Supergrass that's AUS$275 right there.

I plan to see all of the MMJ shows when they come to Japan. Money is not a concern when it comes to seeing your favourite band live!

god i want to come to japan now!!! sounds like you've got some great concerts lined up - the coral would be great (don't think they've ever toured here, would love to see them live) supergrass i saw, or actually only heard (got stuck behind some tall people at the gig, always happens) them a few years back at a tiny venue. just great. always good value

white stripes would be good, don't know about jw's taste in fashion tho ;)

Yer, finally coming out of a dry spell!
When I was in the UK I used to go London 2 or 3 times a month to see live bands - I sure do miss it.
But like you said, I've got some good gigs lined up!  :)

I like your taste in Music, Ali!

Guess you understand this:

"BILLETTER:
Kjøpes kontant i baren på Garage Oslo eller kontakt Platebutikken Tiger på
tlf: 22207350 eller bestilling@tigernet.no . Kort og kontantkjøp.
Billetter kan ikke reserveres"

My ticket was bought directly in the bar. You could try to send a mail to the email-adress bestilling@tigernet.no. Perhaps they could send it to you or something.

France is ignored. It's not a surprise. Z is always an import here. No domestic issue so far. It's a shame because Z had nice reviews and national broadcast.

The Manchester show's been cancelled. It was planned for 20th January 2006.

"Unfortunately this show has been cancelled due to illness. Refunds are available from point of purchase. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

Deja vue  :-/

Once again, I hope whoever's ill gets better soon.
