I've just heard the Manchester one's cancelled as well. The website says it's due to illness.
I've got tickets for Glasgow too. Don't suppose that will go ahead.

Have called the London Astoria and they didn't know about it either. Tried calling the ticket seller and no answer. The fact that they say it wont be rescheduled sounds ominous. It's such a bummer - most looked forward to gig for many a moon

call me cynical but if its due to illness how come none of the other gigs before xmas been cancelled?  it would be nice to have a official announcment from the band

Riny says an official announcement will be made later today.

All very sad. Lets hope nothing serious has happened and that the guys are OK.

Don't want to difuse the situation.......but, these cancellations may be due to some extremely exciting events scheduled to possibly occur for MMJ in the next month or two.  Don't want to spoil anything...so look for some official announcements.

Well if you're right, why are venues announcing it's due to illness? This happened when they cancelled last Summer to do the Cameron Crowe film. Why can't they just tell us? Or get their diaries organised. Or just stop pretending they're going to tour in the UK again. I love this band. Nobody can dispute that but I'm fed up with the mushroom treatment. Of course it's possible that someone is ill and knows they're not going to be better six weeks from now in which case I wish them my best.

Because official notices have been posted. Just not on this site. It's been a long time since this site was the first and most reliable source of information. Those of us with tickets have had emails saying gigs are cancelled due to illness. And venues have concurred. It's all very familiar. And sad.

I really don't want to argue with you John. I feel like the UK/European fans are disposable.

Well, I'm not saying anything other than that Riny had posted that an official statement from the band was forthcoming...

Exciting for who? Not the European fans that's for fuckin' sure. I can't believe they did this again. I have tickets for Manchester and London, that's about $20 in booking fees. Merry Xmas.

It's true, kymoose, what's the use in making a comment like that. Simply making the situation more enflamed than it already is. The band are taking the piss. I'm gonna lose £100s again.

Don't make bookings you can't fulfil. And at least have the courtesy to tell us yourselves not let the ticket agencies know first. What the fuck. Illness my arse.

Listening to Dondante now and it's breaking my heart i'm not gonna see them AGAIN. I'm seriously losing my faith.

The last SIX my morning jacket shows i've bought tickets for have all been cancelled!

Guys, I am so sorry for making a speculation about the situation.  That was bad timing, and I shouldn't have said anything about anything.  Sorry.  Who knows maybee someone is really sick.

Someone has pneumonia....   so sounds like things are a little out of their control...  They just played one of the best fall tours to roll through in a while so give him and the band time to get better... you selfish jackass

Well if that's the case a simple 'So and so's ill so we're really sorry we won't be playing these gigs'  announcement to their devoted fans would have prevented a lot of this.

We know it's been a great tour. We've heard all about it and shared the joy of those attending. Just like we did the last time. And the time before that.

Don't want to speak for Riny here, but maybe he's at work and can't take the time to post this at this instant.
Maybe that's the case.

I don't think he's intentionally holding info.

Just my thoughts on this.

that's not it.

like I said, there will be a statement and if it were up to me i'd post it right away but there are some things to be taken care of before it can be posted.

it's really beyond their control so please don't think they don't care about the european fans or anything like that.

You're right 'wiggum, I don't think he does intentionally withold info. It would mean a lot to us if we got the correct information from the band and their team before we start getting emailed by ticket sellers though.

I heard they have been invited by NASA  to be the first rock band to play in outer space. Their shuttle launch is January 23rd, but they have some training to do.

They will play 2 sets a day, for 1 week, broadcast on Sirius.

After all that, I am sure someone will bitch about the redundancy of the set list or why they didn't play Butch Cassidy...

LOL!!!  ;D

I feel bad for laughing.
I can't help but think something really serious has happened.
What other reason would there be for the band to cancel again & so far in advance?
I can't help but feel really worried...

I feel the band has to do what the band has to do.

They give me the music, so, I trust they will do what they need to do to keep giving me the music.

If it ain't in their plans, I have nothing to do other than appreciate what they have given me.

 ???
If you have nothing real to contribute to this thread then shut the fuck up, your inane wittering is nothing but irritating, go clip your toenails or something.
The people here are genuinely upset, making fun or posting hippie drivel a la 'they give me the music' etc, is just annoying, and I'm pretty sure they don't give you anything, $$$$$$$ is what counts.

Who the fuck are you?!!
Do you have something worthwhile to contribute to this thread? (it wouldn't seem so from your post!)
If you do then join the forum & like everyone else here, show some respect when you talk to other people.

chill out people - people are a bit angsty at the moment i know, just don't hang shit on others ok? this forum has such a cool friendly vibe, don't get shitty about what other people feel they get from the music. that is the best thing about music - it means and gives something different to everyone, don't abuse someone for saying what they feel, deadbeat. you're definitely living up to your name posting stuff like that  :(

look at the fact they offered to refund money to anyone and everyone for the show that TOMMY had to miss because of illness.  this band is not fucking the fans over, im so fucking sick of hearing that.  sure ive had the opportunity to see them quite a lot the past 2 years, and theyve had bad things happen when it comes to europe.  it says a lot about people whose first instinct is to think the band is sticking it to them by doing this.  you do realise they make 80% or more of their money by live shows?  do you think they want this opportunity to lose revenue?  theyre not like that, and theyre probably fucking upset at the chance to rock off your fucking faces.  if you think of them as bad people or doing evil things or what the fuck ever, how are you a fan, and why should you be?  someone's fucking health is more important than anything else, including your money.  get the fuck over it.

I don't think of them as bad. I don't think many people do. What I do think is that the people who get paid to sort out their PR suck. Whoever announced to the venues and ticket sellers that the tour was cancelled could have let Riny make an annoucement at the same time. Nobody's saying Jim should have got out of his sick bed to let us know individually. They're with a record company. They have people to do that.

I wish Jim all the very best. I think everybody who's posted does too. People are disappointed. This is the fourth time in four consecutive years European gigs have been cancelled. This is the first time we've had a fast, clear explanation so well done whoever. We are getting over it, but honestly one thing that doesn't help is being preached at.
