ok here goes...
ok i, like a lot of other people on this list, have probably been ultra stoked to see all these festival dates pop up in the past few days and wonder what other summer plans the boy may have. it started to hit me though, what about the european dates? honestly, ive felt some of the ill will towards the band in the past has been unwarranted, especially since jim & the boys arent directly to blame for any decisions like that since they dont book their own shows. i think the announcement of coachella & bonnaroo is a pretty piss poor PR move right now. the entire european & australia tour was cancelled, and the poor fans over there (and so many people on the forum) are completely left in the dark, some who didnt even get a refund from the last time around. i know its not jim's, tommy's, carl's, patrick's, bo's fault on this because they have a record company and a booking agent to do all this, but they feel the effect from it. where the fuck is the word about the european tour? imagine how we in the states would feel if we were in the same position. our tour had been cancelled, but all the sudden theyre booking dates back in the places they always play. we'd be big time pissed. i have to say that MMJ must have the worst PR & marketing team in the fucking world. sorry to say, it smacks of ridiculous bullshit.
i hope all the european fans get the shows back, and i hope they get word soon. your silence and absence from the board speaks volumes, and you guys dont deserve that.
don't forget australia - we didn't even get a chance to buy tickets before the tour was cancelled here...
the announcement of the us dates just made me glad that they're obviously up & at em again, but it would be nice to have been given even a vague idea of when the europe & australia tour would happen
Well, considering we never even got an update as to Jim's health - I've come to expect nothing in the way of PR.
I agree with Ratsprayer & Angry Ewok.
I came to the site everyday during Dec & Jan expecting an update of some kind. I don't know, just a couple of lines to say that Jim was slowly getting better. You could argue that that goes without saying but it doesn't, as we all well know, pneumonia is serious & complications can occur.
Wouldn't an unreleased/alternative version of a song over Christmas have been a good idea? Just to keep the the fans happy & the attention there.
Of course, we kept ourselves busy on the forum but not everybody posts or even looks here. I was a huge fan of the Jacket for a year or so before I started looking at the forum & it was another year or so before I started posting.
For 2 months there was nothing, the site didn't change at all.
What about the Sooner track on the CD that came with the Dec issue of Mojo? Wasn't that news worthy?
I can't help but wonder how many new or casual fans the band have lost during this time.
It would have been nice (polite?) if a few days before the US festival dates were announced there had been a few lines on the news page, words to the effect of 'Jim is getting better & the band are now looking at US festival dates in the summer. They are also busy trying their best to arrange new dates in Europe & Oz'
Ratsprayer is right, this isn't the bands fault & no one is blaming them. I just felt really sorry for all our European friends on the forum (& Ali in Oz) when the new dates were posted. It doesn't matter what country you're from, if your dates are cancelled & then new dates are announced without any news of yours being rescheduled (or new dates being arranged) you're going to be upset.
Especially when it's the best band in the world! :)
i agree with ya db - although it does kind of make me sound like i will be the only soul in the audience when they do make it down here... ;D not that i would mind.... ;D
yea seriously.. i totally agree with you guys.
i think the european dates should be announced before anything else. but perhaps its gonna be in fall so they haven't solidified anything yet. hopefully they will at least say something About the cancelled european dates!
I'm glad I wasn't the first to get in the complaining-mood.
I'm happy to feel the concern from the other side of the ocean for us european fans.
Too bad that concern isn't coming from the PR-people around the band. they're doing a pretty lousy job.
No word on heath developments, no word on further touring plans, nothing, ... silence... I wouldn't have any problems with that if they 'd announce news on the cancelled european shows first, but no, american dates again...
I might be rushing a bit, they're might be european dates announced shortly, but hey, we're pretty much left in the dark here :-/.
oh ratsprayer, so devilish! But you make a great point. MMJ's PR machine has been crusty and rusty of late. Well, they've always been really. These guys should be stars and their original fan base should not be alienated in the process. That should not be too much to ask for this band. Between their shitty PR moves and Sony putting viruses on Z, I'd think the band ought to be second-guessing their move to ATO.
If there's no news, why would anything get posted? Seriously folks. The band's PR people have done a great job in helping getting the name My Morning Jacket on all of your minds over the years...but if they don't have anything official to report, there's nothing to add.
When the word comes, it'll be here. :)
If shows get cancelled, it's up to PR people to deal with the situation, not to shut up and dissapear.
Any update of some sort would be good. Are they looking for new dates? Are they still waiting due to ongoing health problems? are they not caring? We just don't know! :-/
If they are not looking for new dates, I want to know that!
PR people should anticipate on those questions. That's their job, that's what they get paid for.
So you are saying that if they don't know anything they should just lie? Make up things?
I've got an update; there's no news to report. There...that's an update. Is that what you mean?
Don't get me wrong.
Just an official word that they're not looking for other dates (for any reason whatsoever) would be nice.
john, do you defend everything about this band just because you know them? as i said, personally the band cant be blamed, but i dont see how you cant admit its fucking stupid that festival dates are planned over here after a major tour was cancelled completely, and theres no word to say theyre going to reschedule or not and when it will be. no things shouldnt be made up, thats not even the point. the fact is, PR is non-existant and they need to get their asses of their shoulders and let the fans know whats going on. now im beginning to see why the european fans get so pissy about things, especially when a huge issue like this is completely slagged off by people like you.
Quotejohn, do you defend everything about this band just because you know them?
That's a pretty dick question, ratsprayer.
John's right, you dudes. If there's no news, why post about it? Do you WANT them to have dumb-ass pr that makes shit up and tells you superfluous information that you don't really need to know?

The only date that is official is the Bonnaroo show. Which, of course, is on the shows page.
If there's no news to report, it doesn't get posted. Whether all the other "official" notifications from folks becomes reality is another story. What you are advocating is nonexistent news-I'm quite certain when updates are made official, they will get posted here.
If people get pissy about what I say, I'm sorry. I'm not defending anything-save the idea that offical news gets posted here.
Relax. We're nto debating the 2nd coming or anything. This is still music, right?
do you even read what i post? no one wants made up news at all. even if the european tour isnt cemented yet, just the simple fact of "its beng worked on" or something like that.
look, all you louisville people got hot headed when the bonnaroo run-up was announced last year, then the entire Z tour was mapped out before the louisville date was added because it was nearly 18 months since lebowski fest. if you were in the same boat, youd be wondering and upset.
and yes it was a dick question, because it came from a dick. simple as that.
yes it is still music, rock on!
i'm just trying to put forth a different point of view on things. i know even for me personally i was a bit put off the last time with some of the people across the pond getting upset about the tour being cancelled and some of their comments, but i'm just saying i empathise now and know where they're coming from. they haven't spoken up about this issue, and i know it's on their minds, just trying to bring something in to the limelight that i feel should be addressed and rendered to make all the fans happy. everyone wants their jacket, no harm in that, right? ;D
perhaps you guys should get a life and don't get all bunged up if the PR guys don't let you know what ply toilet paper Jim uses...
I don't have any idea about this, but there still lots of time between now and Bonnaroo. Who's to say that they won't annouce some European dates before Bonnaroo?
Did you guys think of that? It's definitely a possibility.
Just because Bonnaroo got announced first, it doesn't mean that it's the next show that they're doing.
I may be completely off about this, but there is a chance that it could happen.
:D some good news on european dates as i received a email of see tickets today with there usual listing on but they did have mmj in the coming soon section so they will defo be back in the uk 4th time lucky hers hoping fingers crossed :D
Apparently few people (no, not you Ratsprayer) seem to care about the situation.
European and Australian fans first get a tour postponed and then cancelled.
after that, not one single word. Not of any bandmember, not of any pr or managementperson. And that's a shame.
I don't need my daily update of MMJ trivia, I/any fan just would like to know what's happening.
The european/australian tour gets cancelled, and what's the next update...: Bonnaroo.
That might just create the wrong idea that the non-american fanbase gets neglected.
A litte more information could whipe out all these doubts/speculations/questions, and I'm not talking about toilet paper.
I know it's just music.

I think that it's a fair question. Remember that Conaway defended the use of copy-right protection on Z because it deterred criminals like me from pirating mmj's music. I think he's since changed his tune about that one, but he obiously defends this band and anything associated with it no matter what the situation.
And I think Ratsprayer has a point. If they are scheduling dates then there must be some news that we don't know about "officially". Like Jim is expected to fully recover by June. Or Jim is recovering and his condition is not getting worse. Obviously, management has some idea of where they are going to tour and how Europe fits in to their tour or else they wouldn't have already announced two dates. I don't live in Europe I'm just saying that the band's PR team sucks and they deserve better.
I like to think of this place as somewhere someone can 'think aloud' and it seems to me that's just what ratsprayer's done.
What it's reminding me of now is the dabate (row?) people had a while back about not being allowed to say anything that could remotely be construed as negative. Ratsprayer was at great pains to emphasise he wasn't criticising band members but it didn't do him any good.
I personally wouldn't mention gigs at all because it seems it doesn't matter what you say or how you say it you get the "ungrateful European bastards" teatment.
i think there are some real concerns here that everyone seems to be neglecting...
does it seem like a good idea to ease back into touring after battling pneumonia to take an 8 hour flight to europe? or perhaps to take a 5 hour van ride to bonnaroo? which is the more logical scenario? yeah, that's what i thought.
but more importantly why do you all care so much? what is it about fandom that causes folks to demand so much from artists? its a little ridiculous. perhaps now isn't the time for you to know what is going on in this band's life. this is perhaps the first time in the many years of this band's existence where they get a little bit of a break. perhaps they just want to be left alone for a while. i think that would mean more than any success or making up dates or whatever other "opportunities" may be missed.

You've made some good points Larry. We really don't have a right to know what's going on in their lives. Or about their medical conditions or even thier touring plans.
But we do have a right to talk about it. To speculate even. A lot of what goes on on this forum is fantasy......favourite this or that. We're grown up enough to know that an idea somebody expresses is just their opinion.
I don't believe ratsprayer was demanding anything of any artist.

Who's being ungrateful, all I said was they deserve a better PR team. Jesus, it is impossible to have any sort of reasonable debate about anything on this board recently without being called an ungrateful loser. If you have so much to do with your time, shorttermmemory, why don't you keep your comments to yourself.
you and "reasonable" debate are not synonmous terms.

yes, it is. when you get too close to making a good point, youre demanding too much and wanting half-truths. oh yeah, and asking dick questions. personally, i think its hilarious there cant be any debate, especially in the fucking title of my thread i created here i blatantly say devil's advocate. i dont live in europe, but the past few days ive gotten a real sense of what some of the european and australian fans must be thinking. i wasnt putting words in their mouths, but heaven forbid, ive started something certain people can handle! maybe PR should shut me up, it could even be "unofficial" for all i care.

Not taking sides here....but in aMD's defense, that was only a couple of months ago. Most people here remember that.
Just sayin'.
that's not what this is about; but then again, this has gotten so twisted, who the fuck knows what it's about.
If you, as a fan, want to sit around and dream up some bullshit about what you think might happen in some far away universe, so be it. To say the band's PR machine sucks because there isn't a daily update about things, well that's just uninformed. They don't have the word, so why do they suck if they haven't been informed of anything?

no daily update is needed. the point was just made that the bonnaroo date has been confirmed. therefore, it can be said that jim must be feeling better and able to start touring later in the year some time. know what that means? that means PR knows something. they could tell us jim is getting better, dates are being scheduled, blah blah blah. i dont know what you cant understand about that. are you on the PR team, john? is this why youre taking this criticism to heart?
well, you know what, whatever. I haven't gotten my daily download into my left frontal lobe as to what color underwear Patrick is wearing today, so I guess I should be pissed.
You guys really make this unpleasant for no reason. Someone bitches about something, I retort with plain and simple words, and it turns into a flame war.
Fuck it.

I take it personally? Um, no. I'm just sorry I even responded in the first place.
ok - here's the update everyone!!!
jim is getting better. dates are being scheduled.
it is unpleasant to talk about bad things some times. id like to know how you think anyone who disagrees is on the side of bitching. i really wish i could use plain and simple words, but then again a lot of people seem to understand where im coming from...
ok you want an update?
here's what the boys had for breakfast this morning:
jim- wheaties (gotta stay strong and healthy!)
carl- his girlfriend (not literally)
bo- cigarettes & ice cream
tommy- certainly not a haircut
patrick- 3 children (literally)
ratsprayer, I'm sorry I called your question a dick question. Dick was maybe too penile, and perhaps added to the air of weirdness and harshness that is going spaztic in this thread. I still don't think it was a fair thing to throw in there, but maybe I should shut up sometimes.

See, was that so hard. I find it ironic that you are posting something that is supposed to insinuate some of us as not having a life. And here you are, not even in the conversation, and you feel the best use of YOUR time is to make fun of some "losers" on an internet forum. Here's a idea: Get a life! Quit wasting your time on the internet forum and do something active. It goes both ways.

oh how you have shamed me. ::sob::
I don't know any of you guys well enough to take sides, so I'm just going to say what I feel, and hope there's no hard feelings because of it...
John, I think you've over-reacted here, by implying that us fans are asking too much from the PR people... Granted, it'd be amusing to know whose children Patrick is eating, and what color underwear Jim is wearing - but seriously, all this thread has addressed (initially) is the fact that some of us (alot of us) fans found it a tad tasteless for the PR to go so long without a) Updating us on Jim's health, and b) Mentioning that things would be in the works for our buddies in Europe.
My two best buddies who are serious MMJ fans, don't browse these forums - so they've been asking me for X months "How is Jim? Any tour dates yet?" And I've been telling them, "Uh... No clue."
How can you say there is no news? Jim and Patrick's health, Coachella, Bonnaroo, the European tour, Mojo Magazine's exclusive track, the rumored/delayed re-release of the At Dawn and Tennessee Fire Demo's (which are quickly becoming MMJ's 'Chinese Democracy')...
Anyway...
I don't see how you can possibly take a jab at me for saying that I think PR could be a tad more verbal with fans in these situations, or at least toss us a bone to let us know someone is at the helm of the website, when you don't have a history with me like you've obviously got with aMD.
I stole this from Jim's house.
Reading through all these posts, I think what sparked such a strong reaction was ratsprayer's initial inflammatory language. I think ratsprayer has a good point, and I don't think he's asking too much - comparing an interest in the status of European tour dates and Jim's health to underwear color and breakfast cereal is a little ridiculous. At the same time, I don't think that means MMJ's PR is the "fucking worst" and "bullshit" or whatever (OT: for the "worst fucking PR team in the world" see the Democratic Party).
Anyway, though I am an industry outsider, I bet it's a lot more difficult to coordinate an entire tour than to commit to Bonnaroo. And since tix for bonnaroo go on sale in a week or so, MMJ probably HAD to commit if they wanted to be a part of it.
Quotewell, you know what, whatever. I haven't gotten my daily download into my left frontal lobe as to what color underwear Patrick is wearing today, so I guess I should be pissed.

Patrick is sporting a grey t-shirt and blue jeans today. Unclear on the underwear; this cloud cover is disrupting the left frontal lobe download...(the right frontal lobe is getting clear reception and flawless downloads; Bo's left butt cheek is itchy).
I can remember being 6 or 7 yrs old and my sister crying when the Beatles broke up. It's a bit of a blur, but I recall her listening to Hey Jude on a 45 (had the apple logo in the middle) and crying on the couch. I left her alone, got my baseball glove and a tennis ball and threw outside against the side of the house for a little while. Not sure it was brought up at dinner or not. We had ham, green beans and rolls and I had a coca-cola (my older brothers and sisters got to have 2 coca-cola's). My sister is now a 4th grade teacher in Virginia. She has a masters in library science. She is married to a jazz musician/psychiatrist and has 2 daughters. She still likes the Beatles but is really into Keith Jarrett.
I love my sister.
Breaking MMJ news bulletin!!!!!!!!
Jim woke up, rolled out of his bed on the left side, completely throwing us all for a loop as he normally backflips out of bed on the right side, and he has climbed atop of his echo-chamber toilet bowl, and has recorded his early morning dump for the whole world to swoon to. When asked how he feels this one came out, Jim smiled, wiped the crust out of his eyes, and merely stated " Golden!"
In related news, Patrick slam-dunked over Shaq today, in a pickup game of 21. Shaq was so impressed by Patrick 'sick b-ball skillz' , he has agreed to do security for MMJ's pending 2010 European Tour. M. Ward's son is rumoured to be the opening band.

hey doctor, i have an idea. let's go hang out in off topic and pretend this isnt an mmj board. ;)
then we can justifiably talk about breakfast foods.
On a more serious note, though, here are my thoughts.
While I can uderstand that people are a bit upset seeing shows being set up without any knowledge of the Euro tour or Australian tour being rescheduled, I think you have to keep in mind that these shows that are showing up are festival dates. It seems to me that it is alot easier for a band to plan 1 show @ 1 place then a whole tour in multiple places. Also, these big festivals more than likely ask bands that have been there several times way in advance about coming to play again.
About the whole PR thing, why do you need to know whats up with the band at the moment? Lets say you work for the public....I'll use me as an example . I'm an insurance agent. Iff I'm on vacation, I don't want to get calls from my clients while I'm vacationing, asking how I'm feeling and/or if that nasty rash cleared up. The band is laying low right now. Good for them. They deserve it, no doubt. Perfect time to discover new music, boys and girls. Because there are other bands out there. I dont think MMJ will be mad at you if you listen to/ talk about/ obsess over another band for a bit.
Good to be back, folks. It's been awhile

Wasn't this all so predictable?
Of course, cancer (& any other disease of any kind, however serious) is more important than MMJ, that, as much as I love this band, is (hopefully) not in dispute.
BUT this is a MMJ forum, not a cancer forum. That's why we're here, right? because we love MMJ?
To say "stop bitching about things that aren't that important!" suggests to me you might need to join a cancer forum.
Coltrane, I read your post on the Danny Cash thread & I feel you. I REALLY do.
I've lived away from my family for a long time now. A few years ago my Mum had cancer & my family decided not to tell me because they knew I would pack my bags & leave to be by her bedside...
I lost my first born last year & posted my feelings on the site. I got a lot of postitive feedback (many warm wishes & PMs) which REALLY fucking helped but I didn't post my thoughts in the wrong section & didn't call anybody a "fucking baby" in the process.
This is a MMJ forum & this is a section dedicated to live shows. I'm not wrong am, I?
Like I said, this was all so predictable, wasn't it?
Take a look at who got angry/rude/sarcastic/or started calling people fucking babies here.
All of those people live in N. America, right? All of those people had the chance to see MMJ live last year, no? Maybe the year before that & maybe the year before that...
I don't know the full story with regards to how many European tours the band have cancelled but if it really is three in a row (please read again before you attack..."I don't know the full story") then European fans do have the right to be upset (that's MHO please tell me if you think I'm wrong - just don't be a prick about it).
Note I said upset...I didn't say they have the right to be rude or sarcastic (humour may be " the shortest distance between 2 people" but sarcasm is the lowest form)
We had a few guests from Europe last year when the shows were cancelled who wrote angry & unhelpful words. That we can do without...
I'm sorry but the fact of the matter is we would have had a hell of a lot more if the same thing had happened in N.America. & that would have been fair enough. Hopefully we would have had the sense to ignore the rude & sarcastic guests & could have debated politely with the people who had something valid to say (or didn't call anyone "a fucking baby").
So come on guys...
We're here because we love MMJ, right? I've shot myself in the foot by choosing to live where I have. If a band comes to Japan I count myself lucky. If I can afford the ticket price ($50+) & can get there for the 7.00pm start even better. That's the life i've chosen to live, It's my bed & I'll lie in it & yet a day doesn't pass when I don't hope to see MMJ live soon (before I die?!!) And that's why I'm here, because the music of MMJ speaks to me & makes me feel like I'm 14 again listening to The Joshua Tree or 16 listening to Nevermind etc (except it's SO much fucking better!!!)
Feel free to be sarcastic or call me a fucking baby if that's why you're here. I'm here cos I love MMJ & I'm on this thread because I feel sorry for the European & Aus fans who had their dates cancelled & have yet to hear anything with regards to new dates :)
thanks, dragonboy. Those are excellent points, and I'm REALLY sorry to hear about your mother and your child.
I think this is a good spot for people to complain/commiserate about not being able to see MMJ.
And it's a good place to voice concern over lack of updates.
I just wish everyone could keep his/her tone a little more civil and not take everything so personally
i'm glad some people can still discuss something without getting all nasty. I don't know when the next european or australian tour is gonna take place but like it said in the original statement, they'll do their best to make up for it and i'm sure that hasn't changed. the festival dates that are popping up won't change that either. when there's news about it, it will be posted. until then, be nice.
I wish I was as good with words as you are dragonboy. Those were good points.
Let's all have a hug, allright?
let me quote the offspring (I wont ever again, promise):
Ahhhhh, it's time to relax,
and you know what that means,
a glass of wine, your favourite easy chair,
and of course this compact disc playing and your home stereo.
So go on and indulge yourself,
that's right, kick off your shoes, put your feet up,
lean back and just enjoy the melodies.
After all, music soothes even the savage beast
:-* ;)

amen. people ought to go do something good with their day like donate to children's cancer research and mr cash. thread is in the band section. much more fulfilling than fighting!
How do you know the people posting on this thread aren't the people supporting Danny's charity event? Maybe some of us have managed both.
This whole thread wasn't started by a European fan with nothing else to do with their life. I think you'll find none of the European fans have said anything about the shows for quite a while.
No, this thread was started by an American fan showing some empathy and look where it got him - called offensive names by the knee-jerk brigade.
It is all very predictable. Which is what upset me in the first place. Everyone here who knows and loves this band knows for a fact that they care about each and every fan out there. And they will do their absolute best to please everyone.
It really pisses me off when the complaining begins because this band is all about love and happiness and community. But inevitably the selfishness begins. And sure, I got too emotional about it, but it was a defense mechanism.....I wanted to defend the band and the people that work for them.
Yeah, it sucks that Europe and Aus. haven't had shows in awhile. It also sucks that the one time I got the chance to see Radiohead, my wife got sick again and I was worried I would lose her. But you know what, I got over the fact that I didn't get to see them. And you know what Jim did for us??? He dedicated "I Will Be There When You Die" to us at the Roxy in LA in 2003. Which is why I will defend this band to the end.
Anyone on this forum that truly knows and understand the MMJ organization know how hopelessly sorry they are for not being able to entertain the fans abroad as scheduled. CC Baxter is right; the original message about rescheduling is sincere....and that should be good enough for everyone abroad, whether they're 13 or 80 years old. TRUST THE BAND.
This is the whole reason I get frustrated with this forum, especially over the last year.
Music is for good times.
i'm gonna go get drunk now.
In my opinion, this is why the thread got nasty:
Quotei have to say that MMJ must have the worst PR & marketing team in the fucking world.
QuoteWouldn't an unreleased/alternative version of a song over Christmas have been a good idea?
QuoteI can't help but wonder how many new or casual fans the band have lost during this time.
Quote...the PR-people around the band. they're doing a pretty lousy job.
QuoteMMJ's PR machine has been crusty and rusty of late. Well, they've always been really. These guys should be stars and their original fan base should not be alienated in the process. That should not be too much to ask for this band. Between their shitty PR moves and Sony putting viruses on Z, I'd think the band ought to be second-guessing their move to ATO.
QuotePR is non-existant and they need to get their asses of their shoulders and let the fans know whats going on

I just hate whiners. There's no crying in rock and roll folks!

right, nearly every one of those quotes talking about the PR machine, not the actual members of the band. heaven forbid on a band's forum you might criticise and give your opinions and thoughts on what's going on. if we didn't care about this band, we wouldn't be here. maybe to some that's unacceptable whining, but it's the same principle as looking through 70 posts and choosing certain quotes here and there. we all make efforts in our ways, and im terribly sorry personally for my opinion causing so many problems. i'm still not going to stop, debate is needed, and i won't apologise for what i said, just the way i said it. people agree with me, disagree with me, so there must be some sense being made somewhere. im sorry for any inflammatory language or dick questions, but i stand by what i've said and think i've made good points.
rock on mmj!
let's argue about politics then, fuckers! ;D ;D ;D
I have to disagree.
This is how the thread got nasty

You are how the thread got nasty.
Doc, I'll make fun of the "fans" who insult the Jacket family.
Sorry, I got no gripes with the band or their PR.
Quotemaybe to some that's unacceptable whining, but it's the same principle as looking through 70 posts and choosing certain quotes here and there.
Actually, I looked at the ones before my initial post, about 17.
I am allowed to read posts here twice, aren't I?

I'm hiding behind the sofa.
Bring It On, baby.

Now I don't really want to get involved in this 'exchange' again as it must be the 3rd or 4th time this has happened, however.................................
Of course you are allowed to read posts twice.
It helps if you can read in the first place.
No more clues

I wish this post woud have ended this discussion. I mean all I did was criticize the boy's representation. I didn't get nasty or call names. I don't know why that's somehow blasphemy towards the "MMJ family", whoever the hell that is. I am a fan of the band not of the asshole who manages them or ATO.
Ycarrot, or whatever your name is, I think you are calling the kettle black by calling me a whining baby when YOU are the one being hyper-sensitive and calling people names. If you disagree, why can't you just say something like: "I disagree. I think MMJ's PR team is second only to U2's" or whatever?
I've already learned my lesson about posting information that is "unofficial" like upcoming dates. Now it's to the point that I can't say anything negative about anything no matter how indirectly it may pertain to the band. So from now on I'll keep my posts along these lines, "Isn't mmj the best thing ever to happen to humanity? I don't dare inquire about upcoming events or albums, I will just wait until they bless me with their presence and kiss their feet when they do. A-jim". Would that make you happy, Ycarrot?

I'm just having fun folks. If some of your feelings get hurt by my sarcasm, then I apologize.
Some of you really need to lighten up, you know; it's just music.
amillion, I really wished I cared more so I could engage you with some mind blowing pontification about the history of PR in rock and roll...but I don't.
I think My Morning Jacket has the absolute worst PR folks in music and I am suprised any of us have even heard them or seen them live considering the how their management is a bunch of dumb asses who don't let the fans know anything....
there, I feel better.
thanks for showing me the light amillion....now back to something important, NCAA basketball!
(take ratsprayer for example. ratsprayer can dish it out and ratsprayer can take it. cheers to ratsprayer)

where did i call anyone any names? why are you quoting me in all of this? i was just saying instead of fighting it would be great if everyone did something nice like contribute to danny's thing. also - i looked at danny's link and if everyone here is busy contributing to him instead of fighting here i don't really see it.
The second part of my post wasn't directed at you in particular. Sorry if it seemed that it was. At least two people contributing to this have contributed to the charity. I'm just saying that contributing to charity and posting on a website are not mutually exclusive.

are you speculating something based on this picture?
;D
He's not sleeping folks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah, just resting his eyes then...
sigh
on another note....i converted someone to the MMJ clan yesterday.......he used to only like Norwegian Death Metal and braodway musicals....now we have him!
Quotehe used to only like Norwegian Death Metal and braodway musicals
What a cool combination!
Even cooler combined with the jacket 8)

How cool.. Maybe there's a chance my friends can start to like MMJ too then. ;D
What is Norwegian Death Metal?
you don't want to know, my dear!
it's the darkest of the dark....because it's all cold and stuff over there.
when people say norwegian and metal they usually mean black metal which is a sort of blend between goth and speed metal. musically, it's pretty intricate. what it's most known for, though, is its extremely anti-christian stance - extreme to the point of some of its proponents burning down churches.
here's the wikipedia article:
