Title: Mike DeSalvo?
Post by: marktwain on Jun 30, 2006, 10:23 AM
Anybody got the goods on this guy?  He's one of the Louisvillians who joined the band onstage for Bonnaroo... but I can't find anything about him: what bands he's been in, etc.

PLUS, when I listen to the show, it sounds like Jim is saying something other than DeSalvo...  Do you think somebody (somebodies) got his name wrong?

Thanks for your insight.

he played guitar for the Helgeson Story.  They were there band that Aaron Todovich formed after Month of Sundays(Jim's old band) broke up.  They played a few shows with mmj back in the day.  They were good but couldn't keep the band together.  Aaron killed himself a year or two after they broke up.  I don't think Mike's in another band now.  Fellow former members Jeremi Johnson and Drew Osbourne are in a band called Your Black Star, which is gaining praise and tours the states and abroad.

Is it Mike Sabo (sp?) then?  That's what I was wondering.

(I haven't watched the video, just going by the audio)

bingo.  awesome he got to go onstage with them.  thats totally cool.

mike used to be in the Angry Pills with myself, jason nunn (also of The Verlaines and The Debutantes) and tim gillespie as well as Midnight for Two which was taken from the ashes of the Angry Pills with grahm prather and bobby gillespie though i dont think we ever actually played any shows post angry pills.  im pretty sure mike spends most of his time with his work at u of l.  its  a shame hes not in any bands these days.  hes a great fucking songwriter and beyond that just a way cool dude.

he was also playing with The Summer Life (or The Illegible im not sure when the name changed) with aaron todavich (dondante).

That is a great CD.  I think people just guessed "DeSalvo" from what they heard.  They butchered it though.

I'll be correcting his name on my Bonnaroo paper-case design. Glad this has been cleared up.

i LOVE the louisville hardcore site.  all the people who put that thing together are fucking awesome.  louisville is a VERY rich city when it comes to music and a good music history.  its fucking tits that information is being compiled and saved like that.
