I just spoke with one of the students organizing the show this Saturday (with The New Pornographers and Stephen Malkmus) and they will NOT be checking IDs.
Tickets are $15 at the door.
Doors open at 6PM, show starts at 7PM.
They said the location is Patten Gymnasium (2407 Sheridan).
See y'all there!
i would be very wary about this, seeing as its the day before and there's still no official anouncement on the shows page. plus, that's a long ass haul after playing their first show in forever starting at 11:30 at night the day before.
not to spoil your fun, but a lot of signs point to them not being there, especially since it hasnt been announced.
I think I'm going to risk it and head over there. If I blew it off and they showed up, I think I would give myself a columbian neck tie.
No they're definately going to be there. I have friends at Nortwestern who told me about the show this week and they all bought tickets. Usually you just need a student ID to buy tickets in advanced.
I googled around and found aoproductions.net
anyone make it to this? how was it??? :D ;D
I was there. It kicked ass.
How much was this show even publicized? I'm a Northwestern student and I didn't even know about it until I saw the flyers on campus this past week. Advance tickets were only $10. AWESOME deal, to say the least.
Awesome, Awesome show - It's unfortunate that more fans in the Chicago area couldn't be there to enjoy it, but I do understand it was for the students and friends of Northwestern students.... But half the place cleared after New Pornographers played, leaving about 500 people there for MMJ. Great setlist - brilliant show gentlemen!

I was SO lucky to be there and it was GREAT!! I met Taterbug, nice meeting you dude..we were the oldest kids there! ;)
The New Pornographers with Neko Case and Steven Malkmus of Pavement were the openers and they both did really inspired sets. Malkmus' set could have been a little longer. It was my first time seeing Neko and the pornographers and my plan is to go out and buy some of their records--stat!!
The auditorium was just like a high school gym, complete with the wooden floor and gym-room smell. One of the first things Jim said was "I hear that ya'll don't have fencing team here at "Grover Cleveland" and we aim to change that!" :)
The band sounded GREAT!! Weird to see Tommy with his short hair, looking very dapper! JIm sounds excellent, it sounded like he had a good rest on the chords. They did a re-working of dondante which was interesting and didn't take anything away from the power of the original...the little scream on it last night was absolutely chilling.
Let me see if I can recall the set list. It was largely Z tunes, this is in NO particular order, so someone help out!

That just made me cheer!! hooot hooot! ;)
I got into this show yesterday...My Morning Jacket was amazing...I thought that the New Pornographers played for a tad too long though...and Stephen Malkmus didn't get enough credit...but still...awesome...
The environment was very strange...a lot of young kids...and the weird gym feeling...very funny...nonetheless...
NICE ! thanks for the reviews Jacketgirl and neutrino.
i bet the college kids were blown away! ;D
That's rockin' good news! Glad you guys found out and got in on it.

Is there a way I could get the recording of the show from the other night from someone?...It says on that link that they aren't taking any new members or something?...I would die to have that show...SO GOOD!...
If anyone could point me in the right direction I would forever be in your debt...or buy you a beer...either one...
thanks
someone with a user name and password to this dimedozen.org site please message me on how i can get the "sweet hookups" with your login..
please
It was a great show. I'm happy I got to see them headline before they go on tour with pearl jam. It makes the sting of not being able to see them in Boston hurt a little less. I saw a lot of jaws on the floor. It was Great to meet you Jacket Girl, KEEP ON ROCKIN. I hope you made it home alright with the detours and all. It was good to see them while I was sober, I think I enjoyed it more ( and no hangover ).
It was a cool experience. One I will never forget. Unless I develop alzhiemers. And thanks to the college kid that bought my ticket for me. AMEN
any way the show can be put up on the archive?? That would be appreciated greatly by many a soul.
Yeah, I can't get on dimeadozen, can someone hook a brother up? Thanks,
Brian
If I can figure it out, I'll put it on Archive. I've never done that so it may take me a while....:)
