MMJ will be on from midnight to 3 AM (!!!!!), in That Tent, friday night/saturday morning, at the same time as Lyrics Born, COmmon and Blackalicious in The Other Tent, and Umphrey's Mcgee w/ Disco Biscuits in the Comedy Tent. So the other latenight acts that night share the stage with other acts. But MMJ has it to themselves. Could this mean a set of absolutely EPIC proportions?
I wonder if the blueroom will give us the entire 3 hours..............
I actually those other act are "sharing" the stage in a different way. Ump and Bisco(I am not fans of either) are doing a mash it up show where they will just switch members through out the show. I
I am seriouly thinking of going to Bonnaroo now. I would definelty regret missing this set by MMJ. BUt I also kind of want to wait and see the Europe dates.
This message board is gonna light That Tent on FIRE! I saw "Return to Thunerdome" in '04....I saw the crazy puppets last year....this year they are going to blow my mind with a late night set. The Jacket has a way of doing that every time I see them...but.....oh......I'm excstatic.
three hours.....holy crap.
how do you get to the schedule from the regular site? did someone just hack around and figure out that they had it made, but not really "released" insofar as being linked to from anywhere yet? when do you think they'll officialize it?
I think someone just found it on the site. It was posted on the Phish boards...
:)
Hmm... That's very cool, but I've never known of a MMJ set to be any more than about 2 hours at most. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
It would be awesome though, especially if it gets recorded for release by the Roo folks.
man that is a huge slot. i just hope most ppl aren't too wasted by then to see the jacket. The roo really threw the jacket a bone this year. 3 hours?! damnit i wish i was going. they will pull out all kinds of shit, i'm sure there will be some guests to join the jacket.
Andrew Bird and Bobby Bare Jr. are both playing roo.
i'm sure they will be joining MMJ.
i did just get a tax return..............but alas i still cant afford it, on account of the damned dirt bike i bought. such a fucking idiot. id sleep all day and party my ass off from 11-5 if i could go there. i hope to God they record it and release it. i have the other 2, but this one, if infact 3 hours, would be monuMENTAL!!!. they should make a DVD of it for christ sakes. infact, they have DVDs for all theyre crazy shows, ROO , The POPS. screw San fran, these are gonna be classics that should propel these guys into megastars. they ll have to start theyre own fanclub, the Zclub and sell tickets to their fans first cause theyll be just as big as PJ. i may be dreaming, but id help start that club for sure!!! HOORAY FOR MMJ!!!!!
i'm pretty sure that Jim will be joining Bright Eyes.
yea, this band is going to blow up very soon. Idn how i would feel about it, it'd be nice to see the band get some serious recognition but then we'd be going to huge ass venues just to see them, which would be a bummer...but the fanclub would be a cool idea. they are slowly taking over the 'Roo. each year getting better slots, more fans, more exposure. Now a 3 hour slot? god damn, if that doesn't say something about how much respect they are getting, idn what does.
i seem to miss all legendary jacket shows:
missed thunder dome
missed roo with the puppets
missed san fran shows
gonna miss roo 06
gonna miss boston pops
sigh
You could be living in Europe! That would be a bummer
;) ;D
look you guys... this is gonna be SICK!!! seriously... roo has been good to jacket, but also... JACKET HAS BEEN GOOD TO BONNAROO... they have played the most CONSISTENTLY good shows at roo!!! from year to year they just get better and better, and you can't say that about all the artist's there...
i think this will definitely be THE show of this fest, and i've actually seen radiohead so i know they are gonna bring it too!!!
this is gonna RAWK!!!!
:'(
im really psyched about the marathon show, but also bummed that they put mmj opposite common/lyrics born and blackalicious. that was going to be another highlight of my bonnaroo 06 experience, but alas, one must make sacrifices for the jacket.
It's like they made this schedule with me in mind. There is not one time slot where I was like "SHIT, I'm going to miss......." I'm going to get to see EVERYONE I really really want to see without having to miss a bit of thier show. Thank you Bonnaroo Scheduler Man.......this bud's for you, you are a True American Hero.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY MAN!!!
we must similar tastes in music ;)
i have to make alot of difficult decisions. Stephen Malkmus and Son Volt are playing at the same time? I could do half and half but i just don't like doing that.

Let me help you out in your time of need friend.......Malkmus, I've seen Son Volt and they are good but they aren't even close to being one of the better shows I've been to. Plus..............It's FUCKING Stephen Malkmus man, are you kidding me, you CAN'T miss a second of it.
I saw Son Volt last year, and I was VERY disapointed. THey played every song, it seemed, of the new album, and NO old stuff. I love the 1st 2 albums, cant get into the more recent stuff. GO with Malkmus! :)
See you up front for this 3 hour marathon of an MMJ show! It is going to be awesome!
(((((((MMJ)))))))

yeah, i've been leaning towards Malkmus, i will probably be able to see Son Volt again.
stephen malkmus is a legend. these fine folks before me have led you in the right direction. :)
I wonder what time we should get there to get the rail for the MMJ set? I was thinking 10:00, but don't know if that is too early. Any thoughts?
i'm probably gonna see an hour or two of Tom Petty and then head over, i'd say that 10 would be early enough.
i think i'm gonna stake out that tent all day long. it opens up with andrew bird then devendra, and nickel creek a little later on. and oh yeah, cat power's in the middle. so that shouldn't eb too bad. i might venture out to robert randolph after nickel creek, but i'm gonna be around the front of that tent all night for the jacket.

Got to go with Malkmus here. It's not the original Son Volt and it's the new stuff. Jay Farrar
is Son Volt; you need to wait to see him solo tour (which is pretty awesome).
if you're going to bonnaroo, i'm so jealous of you it's not even fucking funny.
but i need to feel more bonnaroo excitement. i have to live vicariously through those of you who are going. do you want me to make an ec list of essential and helpful bonnaroo elements?
cuz i will. but only if you thought that would be useful...
turns out i'm having to go on my own this year.. and this is my first time going.. so Megan your list will be helpful to me.
also anyone of you other jacket fans i've met.. (or even the ones i havent met) care for some company?
Quoteturns out i'm having to go on my own this year.. and this is my first time going.. so Megan your list will be helpful to me.
word.
1. sunscreen. don't even gripe about it. bring it and wear it.
2. rubber boots. the brown variety.
3. wet naps, or something similar. there are no showers at bonnaroo, folks. none. you can hose yourself down, but it sucks.
4. a good tent. if you have a tent pre-1998, people will trip over your lines. invest in a good tent.
5. food. bring food. eat out of your tent whenever you can.
6. money. you'll need it for stuff. like beer and eating.
7. camera. you'll be very pissed if you don't.
8. blow-up mattress - if it rains (and it will) your tent is vulnerable. it's vulnerable anyhow because everyone's walking over it. if you don't have something that goes above ground level, you will be sleeping in a puddle, and as my good friend jen can attest, that SUCKS.
9. let me talk again about suncreen. you will be fucked.
10. no matter what, you keep drinking that damn water all day. if you're going to an mmj show at midnight, and you've spent the day in the sun, and the show is three hours long, you will die if you haven't kept rehydrating yourself. don't be a jerk and drink all the water you can.
11. those little packs of kleenex. they're sexcellent about the porta-potties, but there's only so much you can do. don't get caught in one without some kleenex.
12. need to stress again that the wet naps are an awesome tool.
i think those will help. if i think of more i'll post them. get there early to avoid 5 hour entrance lines. no jokes. get there early. and just go with the flow because there's a lot going on there, but it's fucking. awesome.
and i'm sad to not go. but i'll live. ;)
meth....dont do meth the whole night before whilst driving, and dont snort a big line during the wait in line. you will be fucked, and you wont have a good time.
dont do meth, and drink loads of water. bring a tarp to protect from the sun whilst sitting at camp, and dont forget the water! those are my tips. :)

OK rats, clear this up for me b/c I am confused. When
is the best time to do meth then?

any time is fine, as long as you dont have anything important to do. cool weather is also preferrable. if you have time to waste, once again, that is a preferrable time.

I will be around the front of the tent from about 10:00 on Fri. nite for MMJ club meet up. Watch for Eisenbraun's post if he establishes a diff. meet up at a diff. time.
get there Wed. night if you don't want to wait in line at all. I left Bowling Green, Kentucky at 11pm on Wed. and was in my campsite by 1:30am.

Did you get in the gate Wed. nite?
i'm thinkin i'll be hangin around mmj's tent all night. probably grab a gyro (frickin delicious) and just chill with my buddy steve and listen to tom petty from a distance. we'll probably be shirtless, and i'll have about four weeks of beard growin at that point. i may have to write the setlist on my actual body this time. or maybe i'll just wear a shirt. we'll see.
either way, i'll be there all night. probably hang out after nickel creek is doen and just establish our places. there's no way i won't be front row for this.
also a good item to bring, and i will be this year, is ear plugs. sounds wussy, but it's really not. if you pick up some hear-o's, what they do is just block out the harmful "noise". all the decibels that batter your ear drums, that's what causes your ears to ring afterwards. but with hear-o's, you can hear everyhting, you just don't have noise battering your ear drums. it'll probably make it a little more enjoyable too, not having to wince too much. i'm at least wearin em for the jacket, cuz they were frickin loud last year and i want to be able to hear everything perfectly.
Tom-see you there! And by the way, wore earplugs last year and very glad that I did. Had a little problem with tinnitus (clicking in ears) a few years back after a Red Hot Chili concert and have tried to be more careful since. Lookin' forward to meeting up with you and any other "boarders". Everybody who participates here should really push for the front so we can unite and witness what will probably be the premier performance of Bonnaroo. (((((((MMJ)))))))
I got my ticket yesterday. I will be in attendance. :D
(jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealous)
(whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiining in my chaaaaaaaaaaaaaair)
Ha Ha........Sorry Charlie!!!!
I'll tell you all about it when I get back.
tom, you should write the setlist on your dick. Well, you could probably fit the first 2 songs, then get Brian to finish it off on his, along with the encore, closing thoughts, suggestions, artistic renditions of each song, the Constitution, etc...
He's going to have to pull it out of his or trey's ass first. ;)
wait...your dick or mine? ???
i'm not really comfortable with tracy saying the word dick. it just doesn't sound right. isn't there some other word you could use? something... i don't know... like... hm. c-c-c ...... hmmmmmm...... i know i'll think of it. just gimme a minute... hmm....
QuoteI got my ticket yesterday. I will be in attendance. :D
Great! I thought you maybe mentioned not able to attend?
haha, okay. so want you to know, Meg, that i typed it out. your word. the giggly one. and then i felt kinda dirty, so i just edited that post into this. but it was up for like a minute.

i feel the remnants, and i feel your efforts tom, and they are appreciated. :)
