It's about that time. Who else here is pretending like this is live?
I drove from Dallas to Nashville for the Rites of Spring concert, so that pretty much ruled out Bonnaroo.
I have man love for ATT Blue Room.
Gawd I hope they show the whole set!
Does your screen say....up next My Morning Jacket?
Mine says, "up next, getting you ASS kicked!"
Yeah, it changed to a crowd shot just a sec ago.
no, there playing right now, and jamming hard...
Just kidding, mine says the same thing
Here we go..
When you wish upon a star, beautiful intro :)
Jim's leading the trip with a lantern.
I'm not a fan of glow sticks, but that looked sweet.
I love it when the turn the lights up for Wordlss Chorus chorus.
wonder how many times the were hit by glow sticks
I was hoping the went into it beats 4 U.
with Andrew Bird, excellent.
I'm not that big of a fan of it beats 4 U, but the rock out part suttlely (sp?) kicks ass.
It can go anywhere after it beats 4 U.
Wonderful Man, I really hope it has the outtro. Wonderful man with outtro - sacrifice to gods. Wonderful Man without outtro - another good mmj song.
Nope.
HOLIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"WAK"N UP FEELIN"
What a great shot of Jim headbangin' on the solo into the camera on OBH!
What song is this? A lot of energy in the first 4 songs.
Oh Shit the Velvet Underground!
What's the name of this song? I'm diggin the cover!
LOwdown!
the end part was "Head Held High".
I have yet to see lowdown live. However, it might be the only song that can't compare to the album version.
I like the whistling. Nice touch. Violin good addition as well. I've never heard of andrew bird before.
Speaking of guitar outtros, The Way He Sings.
I was unaware that Carl sang backup on TWHS.
yeah, I really like the violin.
ahhhhhh Masterplan.............HOT
This is the first song off of ISM that I really got into! love it!!!
sexy ass keyboardss in this verses, love the bo
Another song I need to see live! I need some water!
Nice organ playing Bo.
I love me some masterplan.
Is anyone else sitting in front of their computer drinking beer and rocking out like you're really there? lol
Quotesexy ass keyboardss in this verses, love the bo
Damn right!
AT DAWN!!!
fucking epic...i love at dawn live...
before i die i want to see it open a show with a 10 minute jam before jim starts singing
It's taken me a while to grow inot "at dawn", but i definitely like it.
Has it always had the slide guitar, that's a Carl Hungus thing right?
Never really got into at dawn til I saw them play at the palace in louisville......magic.
QuoteIs anyone else sitting in front of their computer drinking beer and rocking out like you're really there? lol
Nope, I'm drinking vodka soda lime. And yes Rocking it out, often with my hands in the air.
audio cut out for me, any good jim james banter before golden?
One time on the way to work, when life was really hard, Golden made my cry.
Cry, but in a good way.
I'm serious.
The sky was morning and golden.
bo is on fire.....nailing the falsetto harmonies
I think, lyrically at least, Golden might be Jim's best. Definitely up there.
Audio cut for everyone i guess.
Golden has my favorite MMJ verse.
I heard say something to the effect of "we're gonna play for awhile if you're up to it"
Gideon might be there most well composed song. Put a Gideon on every album.
Eddie Vedder, cover Gideon.
god descends from heaven everytime this song is played.....just to rock the fuck out....gideon has grown on me one thousand fold after first hearing it on the album
is that andrew bird i hear playing violin? EDIT: and now i see him
I need more cowbell, or violin in this case!
Everyone is watching this in full screen right? If not double click on MMJ.
I wasn't that into Z when I first got it, but one night I was driving home from work down a country road and this song was on and all of a sudden I started seeing shooting stars. That was the moment I realized I really loved this song.
that violin picking was sweet
Merry Christmas from the family.
3 songs i have yet to see.
im going back and forth from full screen, to check on what the people are saying....but i think i'm just gonna act like im at a concert and full screen it and rock
x-mas curtain!!!!!!! in june!!!!!!!!! hahaha havent heard this live on any boots
Where does Bo keep the jamaican drum thingies?
QuoteIs anyone else sitting in front of their computer drinking beer and rocking out like you're really there?
*Raises hand*
QuoteWhere does Bo keep the jamaican drum thingies?
In one of his synths.
DD!
I keep mine in my pocket ;D
This is Dondante right? Or am I confused?
i'd like to go on record as saying i don't like new dante, don dante is much better
the quiet build up is so much better than the jamming before the build up
if they jammed on the quiet part before, maybe i'd like it more... idunno
I'll take some wrong Dondante over some no Dondante.
That's for sure.
But yeah, it's much different, but only for half the song.
Who's playing congas?
And another guitar player?
I love the new version. Very Cool. Sounds awesome.
who's johnnny bongos there?
I like this version, but it doesn't have the same effect though.
The rest is the same now.
YEAAAHHHHH!
Just joined in during the last part of Xmas Curtain. Sounds like I have missed some great shit. Doesn't Andrew Bird whistle on Into the Woods or something? Who is playing the bongos?
Quotebut it doesn't have the same effect though.
exactly why i dont like it
nice shots, whoever was directing did well.
Let me be the first to say, but the last to admit:
I"M SOOOOOOOO FUCKING JEALOUS!
I did like the sax part at the beginning. Any weird puppets or anything so far? Maestro?
wait yeah who are these extra peoples? anyone know?
and i only hear jim's solo and no other guitars
QuoteI did like the sax part at the beginning. Any weird puppets or anything so far? Maestro?
Glow sticks tossed in unison when they started playing. Jim carrrying a lantern like he's friggin lantern like he's Robert Plant on the Song Remains the Same.
Conga guy has to bite down on drum sticks cuz he's having a seizure to Dondante.
Brokeback bongos!
Patrick is a fucking BEAST!
haha i havent quite left yet, too much discussion here
sorry extra guitarist, but i can hardly hear you, too bad, dueling guitar solos is one of my favorite things, probably why i love thin lizzy so much
what's with throwing glowsticks? i got hit in the head like 4 times at a moe show last week.
I command Saxophone!
Wagers on what's next?
One more slow song.
then take it up a notch.
Quote

Sweet. Hopefully someone (Deanna) will hook us up with a recording.
Any guesses what comes next??
i give a GOD DAMN to the end of that don dante......love carl's sax skills
dancefloors....the track i cannot fucking WAIT to hear with the boston pops.....when the horns kick in.......i hope those shows get recorded
For some reason this song reminds me of Rolling Stones, maybe Exile on Main St. era.
Quotei hope those shows get recorded
It would be a tragedy if they aren't recorded!
I loved that dondante. Jim's guitar at the end was downright emotional. Never heard the new version before but if they play it like that every time I'm cool with it, to say the least.
Oh, and I hell yeah to dancefloorz!!! song kicks ass live.
It is such a completely different thing to see Tom's face while he is rocking that bass.
Daaammmmmmnnnnnn!
What a feaux rock star line.
To Commmmuuuunniiiiicatttteeee!
i've never heard the DAMN on anytime live
sidenote....what's the line on how many other artists you think join phil lesh, seeing as he is the last band of the festival?
Fuck the ferris Wheel, I'm staying right here
Mahgetta?????
What will they close with????
Greatest song with the fewest lyrics.
tribute to the audience....ala tribute to pearl jam
Ha ha. "We put that ferris wheel up just for you." Sounds familiar (lebowskifest '04)
Quotei've never heard the DAMN on anytime live
He did it on Conan
you can really heare Bo over the internet.
Nice.

I really am in heaven.
Cheers everyone.
Hopefully a solo set is upcoming.

Is this like........a Who song?

This is the I'm officially drunk song.

That ending sounds ultra familiar?/????
hahah! indeed it does
and that who song had some ending to LowDown in it.
it's the end of easy morning rebel
FUCKING MISFITS
HOLY HEAVEN ON EARTH......WHY THE FUCK DIDNT I GO TO THIS
Off the Record, competing with Mahgetta for secong most appealing song to new audiences.
I go with Mahgeeta though.
I ask the same question. My brother is there though, hes holding fort.
I used to think he said, "if your id. wasn't kissed"
Hi, I would like to destroy a pop song.
ROCK ROCK!!! ROCK ROCK!!
We are very lucky to have this streaming show.
OH MY GOD, this is soooooo good!
What a smooth ass fucking too a song, pardon my vulgarity.
love the jam out of this one....
wut oh, lil drummy messyup, pat's body was just catching up with him after the opening of the 2nd set, still love ya babe
yessssssss more bear dancing
Thier most straight forward MMJ song on Z.
Who the fuck knows what he's saying though.
That's a part of what I love about MMJ. Good lyrics, but i don't need to know what they are.
hey Jim, that's my fucking bear you asshole.
Somebodys not plugged in.......Jim resorts to the bear when something goes wrong!
i just had a simpon's sushi seizure.
I feel a Run Thru hate crime coming on.
is Carl not coming in well for me or everyone?
Patrick#@!
The Dark!
I lost count, but at least 4 songs I haven't heard!
finally! the tennesee fire
THE FUCKING DARK
(i like to say the f word alot, im sorry)
THE DARK!
Lay Low anecdote: my buddy colin recently underwent chemo/surgery for cancer. A while back, when he found out he had it, he said he was listening to lay low and the guitar at the end "sounded like how he felt." He emailed jim and told him about it and jim sent him a long email back, saying that he really didn't previously like lay low, that it was his least favorite song on the record, but that my friend's story had renewed his interest in it, and wishing him best of luck and all.
these guys are the shit.
THE BEAR!
at times carl isnt coming in well at all
the dark followed by the bear
HOT
(andrew bird's violin completes an already complete song...how does he do it?)
holy shit! dark baby!
OH MY FUCKING GOODNESS GREATNESS
I HATE EVERYONE AND LOVE THEM AT THE SAME TIME
FUCK TYPING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES.
ASSHOLES!@
Hi Mr. Bird!
For UUUUUUUU
To chaanaaange you rmind.
fucking epic show :o
This might be their sweetest song. This is after the peak of OBH on ISM right?
If i pass out to this song somebody wake me up.
The only songs i am missing on Run thru and Sooner?
What about everyone else?????
missing Steam Engine, Strangulation, Heartbreakin Man, Where To Begin, Phone Went West, Cobra, and a couple other EPIC tunes to complete and EPIC show
yeah i'm thinking run thru kicks it back up after this
Money, Ho's, and diamond rings.
Quotemissing Steam Engine, Strangulation, Heartbreakin Man, Where To Begin, Phone Went West, Cobra, and a couple other EPIC tunes to complete and EPIC show
Do they even play phone went west anymore?
Did they play it in San Francisco?
I would love a Steam Engine-Where To Begin
5 songs i've still never heard live, dammitt!
Anybody ever hear war begun live? I love that one
need a war begun (as if I could ask for anything more)
Quote
Do they even play phone went west anymore?

Quotemissing Steam Engine, Strangulation, Heartbreakin Man, Where To Begin, Phone Went West, Cobra, and a couple other EPIC tunes to complete and EPIC show
And there you go my friend.
Air high five!
Strike Heartbreakin Man
I've had soo much fun tonight!
Well divide being there by about 10!
My downstairs neighbor is about to be pissed at me. I can't stop rock'n though.
Hey guys! This is awesome. Not being able to hear Carl really hurt on The Bear and I Will Sing You Songs. They haven't played O yet either.
it's official i must kill someone tonight!
And her name is Evelyn!
there's evelyn
also, they played It Makes No Difference by the Band, so that should be comin up soon
oh hey thats cool....can i have carl's solo please?
changing "johnny" to "carll-ly"?
its about twilight.....GOD DAMMIT i needed to be there
i have officially missed the most epic fucking modern era set by mmj.
Damn you Rites of Spring and Country music hall of fame!
What's in Jim's hair????
I don't see anything in his hair???
Give it up for the band, they recorded in New york too.
makes no difference keeps the surreal moment flowing and then something epic after it will kick the energy back up, then an epic closer after that
All I see is HAIR! ha ha ha
Have they ever sung Up on Cripple Creek?
This is really beautiful, I love it.
I just had a terrible thought. You know how Bonnaroo does the online downloads. Do you think this is the mix that will be used for that download? It's a shame if it is, I can't hear Carl at all. He was ripping it up on the Evelyn solo, and you could hear nothing.
Run Thru to close. Maybe O before that if they have time?
what song is this?
First sooner, or I murder tonight.
no way this is the mix for the live bonnaroo download
just some random kentucky duders
holy shit that other percussion is K.C.!
OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
PHONRE ROINJEOGINOFDSKINGOSGNE ERDY

So happy to share this with you all...its been so fine.......

un-fucking-real show........best band around......hands down
there's 30 songs for ya.....is your face melted?
It's about to storm hard here in Dallas. I'm about to get super wet.
I love you MMJ fans.
Goodnight!@
that was a techno-tastic run thru.
Oh My God.
Can't form words.
can anyone tell me what was played between lovin cup and off the record?
I don't even smoke and I think I need a cigarette after this one.
This was one night of rough magestic MMJ sex.
Think about this. Easily over 3 hrs and no filler. Maybe 1 minute tops waiting for them to come out from encore. No bullshit self indulgent jams. No 10 minute band introduction. Just all goods. Nobody is on this band's level right now. The creativity and amazing albums and unbelievable live. We are very lucky to be where we are and loving MMJ at this time.

This was amazing. I'm excited for them...to see where they go from here.
QuoteThis was amazing. I'm excited for them...to see where they go from here.
Me too. Esp. with the boston pops shows upcoming, i feel like they can rally break out and be recognized as the outstanding group of musicians that they are.
Good night all.
They have a thread just like.....well maybe not exactly like this on the Pearl Jam RM boards
towards the bottom here, continues for about 5 pages
http://www.theskyiscrape.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6528&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=1100
Well, I figured out what that mystery song was. Turns out it was 'I will sing you songs'. The reason why I thought it was another song is because it has a VERY similar chord progression as 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing'.
Think about it.
Anyway, the reason why I figured this out is that on the way home, I picked up 'It Still Moves' and 'Z'.
BTW, there were 4 imports at the record store. SandWormCometh, Learning, At Dawn, and Tennessee Fire. Are these albums I should pick up immediately, or are they going to be around for a while? (woulda cost me about $80 out the door for all 4)
Hmm... Not sure why any of those would be imports. TTF and At Dawn are actual albums and the other 2 are more demo-type recordings ("Early Recordings") that were released a little over a year or so ago. They should all be relatively easy to find again.
I'd say that you should grab "At Dawn" next, then ease yourself into the others. The "Early Recordings" are more for listening to after you have an appreciation for the other records. The recording quality on most of those are pretty poor as there are a bunch of 4-track type recordings....more for the hard-core fan, but there are definitely some gems on there.
pick up at dawn and tennessee fire at the same time.
Borrow the 2 early recordings and see what you think about them.
No MMJ yet, but Blue Room is finally starting to add some archived footage from Bonnaroo.
Andrew Bird
Dungen
Clayool
Matisyahu
Bela Fleck
Codetalkers
Ben Folds
Brothers Past
MMJ is on the Blue Room Bonnaroo Archive now.
They included:
Wordless Chorus
OBH
Dondante
3 out of 31 >:(
Oh well, you won't catch me complaining. 3 is better than zero right?
Ummm I'm new to this blue room thingamajig, and the archive videos wont load ???
The most likely reason is that my computer sucks, but is there something obvious I'm missing?

You may have to lower the speed settings on your windows media player. Also, I had to change a setting on mine to get it to work and now I don't remember. I will try to find that old thread.....
Off The Record, Golden & What A Wonderful Man have been added :)
QuoteOff The Record, Golden & What A Wonderful Man have been added :)
I thought that at first too but they pulled those over from Coachella for some reason.
You're quite right, apologies for that, I was still watching the Bonnaroo clips :-[
Either way, it's a quality good time.
I can finally see a little bit of Andrew Bird's set too. Score!

;)
Glad to hear it.
