Title: Bonnaroo Blue Room Thread Chat
Post by: JohnnyRage on Jun 17, 2006, 09:21 PM
It's about that time. Who else here is pretending like this is live?

I drove from Dallas to Nashville for the Rites of Spring concert, so that pretty much ruled out Bonnaroo.

I have man love for ATT Blue Room.

i'd like to go on record as saying i don't like new dante, don dante is much better

the quiet build up is so much better than the jamming before the build up

if they jammed on the quiet part before, maybe i'd like it more... idunno
Title: Re: Bonnaroo Blue Room Thread Chat
Post by: JohnnyRage on Jun 17, 2006, 10:35 PM
I'll take some wrong Dondante over some no Dondante.

That's for sure.

But yeah, it's much different, but only for half the song.

Lay Low anecdote:  my buddy colin recently underwent chemo/surgery for cancer.  A while back, when he found out he had it, he said he was listening to lay low and the guitar at the end "sounded like how he felt."  He emailed jim and told him about it and jim sent him a long email back, saying that he really didn't previously like lay low, that it was his least favorite song on the record, but that my friend's story had renewed his interest in it, and wishing him best of luck and all.

these guys are the shit.

I just had a terrible thought.  You know how Bonnaroo does the online downloads.  Do you think this is the mix that will be used for that download?  It's a shame if it is, I can't hear Carl at all.  He was ripping it up on the Evelyn solo, and you could hear nothing.

Run Thru to close.  Maybe O before that if they have time?

Think about this.  Easily over 3 hrs and no filler.  Maybe 1 minute tops waiting for them to come out from encore.  No bullshit self indulgent jams.  No 10 minute band introduction.  Just all goods. Nobody is on this band's level right now.  The creativity and amazing albums and unbelievable live.  We are very lucky to be where we are and loving MMJ at this time.

Post by: Sonador on Jun 19, 2006, 08:58 PM
Well, I figured out what that mystery song was.  Turns out it was 'I will sing you songs'.  The reason why I thought it was another song is because it has a VERY similar chord progression as 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing'.

Think about it.

Anyway, the reason why I figured this out is that on the way home, I picked up 'It Still Moves' and 'Z'.

BTW, there were 4 imports at the record store.  SandWormCometh, Learning, At Dawn, and Tennessee Fire.  Are these albums I should pick up immediately, or are they going to be around for a while?  (woulda cost me about $80 out the door for all 4)
Title: Re: Bonnaroo Blue Room Thread Chat
Post by: corey on Jun 19, 2006, 09:07 PM
Hmm... Not sure why any of those would be imports. TTF and At Dawn are actual albums and the other 2 are more demo-type recordings ("Early Recordings") that were released a little over a year or so ago. They should all be relatively easy to find again.

I'd say that you should grab "At Dawn" next, then ease yourself into the others. The "Early Recordings" are more for listening to after you have an appreciation for the other records. The recording quality on most of those are pretty poor as there are a bunch of 4-track type recordings....more for the hard-core fan, but there are definitely some gems on there.

Title: Re: Bonnaroo Blue Room Thread Chat
Post by: JohnnyRage on Jun 20, 2006, 08:09 AM
pick up at dawn and tennessee fire at the same time.
