OK, opening night tonight in Charleston, SC. Tommy states they're pulling out some oldies from the first 3 albums that don't get played a lot.
So......
What do they open with? Pretty sure it won't be Wordless Chorus. I am going with (drum roll):
Heartbreakin' Man
Anyone else?
TONIGHT I WANT TO CELEBRATE WITH YOU

great, yes, I know. But you'll have to wait a day.
But what song do you think they'll open up with tonight in Charleston?
Close with "If It Smashes Down" Jim solo with banjo in a rocking chair on stage.
Close with WAR BEGUN and robots will come out and simulate devouring the entire band while they still play!
And a midget on fire!
(can't wait)

:o That is the best idea since tattoo removal machines.
Maybe not open with, but I'm hoping for Old Sept. Blues. When Jim played it in Vegas I nearly cried. I can only imagine what that sounds like with the band in a live state.
So what shows are you going to, Tracy? This is Tim. I have long, curly hair and we've met at a bunch of shows (Jacket at City Hall and Rites of Spring, BTS at City Hall). I'll be at Knoxville and Nashville - wish I could make it to more.
i'm calling a DANCEFLOORS opener tonight!!!
this band really does have the material to mix it up a LOT this tour!!! that'd be fun!!!
see you kids in dallas 2nd night & austin!!!
I think Brian nailed it with "Tonight I Want..."
Jim has been playing it solo and they are big on opening with album openers so.....
Or maybe At Dawn.
Not sure about an opener, but does anyone think we'll get some "Honest Man" this tour?

hi guys, i'm new to this (first time posting) but long time MMJ fan for years now.
anyway, I'm thinking they open with "At Dawn" or "Gideon" for sure. yet.........you could always get "Anytime"
all would be GREAT openers...
-noah
They should totally open with 'the bear'.

It'll probably be over soon...I'd give it 20 more minutes. max.
....ok, ok. Sorry, I used to be registered here and it took me like an hour to get my new account open. Anyways...
The opener was At Dawn!
After that, my mind is blurred. The next song might have been Xmas Curtain, and I think What a Wonderful Man was third, but I'm not sure. I was kinda pre-occupied with rocking out, as I was in the very front. The show was mindblowing as usual. Ive seen them the past two Bonnaroos, and though the most recent 'roo might have topped this performance, it was still as good if not better than anyone could ask for.
My mind was kinda blurred too, but I'm sure someone will post the setlist eventually.
You're correct on the first three songs. I think they played everything off Z except for Knot Comes Loose. No The Bear, Honest Man or Dancefloors. Jim came out solo for the encore and played Tonight I Want to Celebrate With You. The rest of the encore was Nashville to Kentucky, something else, Golden, Steam Engine, Anytime and Mahgeetah.
To be honest, most of the set was Okonokos, but in a different order and with a couple extra songs. I didn't clock it, but I think it was around 2.5 hours.
What a show!
Edit: Forgot they played Steam Engine during the encore.
Oh yes! 2.5 hours! I was hoping for a solid 2 hours. ;D :o ;D :o ;D :o ;D
Did they have the forest stage set up?
