fun show, as always... can't wait for austin tomorrow night!!
i'm off to bed... bring me my "JUST BECAUSE I DO" bitches!!!

Blaine, et al,
I had never heard it - not to say that it's a first, and I don't collect all of the shows. Hell, if they're doing Sweetheart, they may as well break out Hard Helmet, right!?
As perfect as Friday night was, save for not getting off work until 7:30pm and my date getting sprayed right in the face by the guy donating his beer during One Big Holiday to all those around, Steam Engine was on the setlist for the enchore.
If they had played it, I might not even drive to Austin today, just because that's how good that show was.
Did any of ya'll meet up before the show at Taco Sol. I ate there late night after hanging out at Adairs for a while.
Love that opener....looks sick
I have never used this term before, but, opening with THE DARK is, well
S I C K
what a way to start the crowd moving.
I am rarely jealous, but, I am jealous.
(I told my wife Jim would be ranting about the Reunion Tower whilst in Dallas.)
Blaine, you originally weren't going to the Fri Dallas show, just passing through on your way to Austin, right?
Wow, the "Man" trilogy. Pearl Jam does that with Betterman, Nothingman, and Leatherman. By the way I think we should give Pearl Jam at least some credit for MMJ's longer and more varied sets this tour. Pearl Jam are the masters of this and I can't help but think some of it rubbed off on the boys.
Ha ha ha! So Awesome!!!
i'm seriously really digging these setlists this tour. they're pullin out all sorts of great songs and mixing up the opener and the early songs.
i still hope they start mixing up the encores a bit more though. throw mahgeetah and anytime midset and maybe close with some new songs, OBH, PWW, Steam Engine.
glad to see Heartbreakin Man back! and Sweetheart, wow.
What was sick is the fact that the house music busted out "Louisville... Louisiville" by Louisville's own Get Down Click. When I was in school this was UofL W Volleyball's theme song.
That was a great two nights of shows. So glad they decided to double us up.

I concur. Seeing that song live would be:

Yeah great they are doing this.. I'm sure they know how many PJ fans they picked up this year
off to austin !!
OMG! so much candy from The Tennessee Fire record. I so can see why it was sick and a brilliant show. And you're only making me even more depressed about that there aren't tourdates booked for them over here in Europe yet again!!!
I'm dying to see them! Please, let it be soon...
I'll be in Scotland for spring semester!
I WOULD LOVE ANOTHER EURO TOUR IN FEBRUARY, MARCH, OR APRIL!

That would be unbelievably excellent!
what the heck happened during dondante? no sax solo as something went all crazy. i think jim was soloing or something.
where was that beer spray incident? to the right of the stage 20 feet back or so. i think that may have been me.....what a jackass i am.
you absolutely would know if you were the jackass. No mistaking it. But if if was you, no big deal, i got a laugh out of seeing my date with beer all over her face, haha.
Yeah, super different ending to Dondante with no sax. Jim just took over and weirded out for about 3-5min. Pretty cool.
I would certainly echo the comments about Friday's show. Amazing. We went on Thursday night and loved it. It was far less crowded which made it nice. When tickets for Friday became available on Friday morning, we decided to go again. Good decision.
My personal favorite was Heartbreakin' Man. I haven't heard them play it since I saw them open for the Doves a few years ago. That was my introduction to them.
This was my second Jacket show and WOW! It was indeed sick. I went apeshit whenever the band walked out and Pat started doing that little noodling on the ride cymbal, I looked over at my buddy and screamed "It's called the dark, bitch!" The setlist was amazing, I can't believe I seen Honest Man and Phone Went West. All I need now is Rollin' Back for absolute atonement. Maybe Monday in St. Louis.

my friends told me that there was some bigger jackass who was shaking up full beers and spraying the crowd (kinda like you do when you win the world series)....so he is the big jackass. I just accidently spilled a little beer on somebody behind me...if my memory is correct
What a setlist, wow!
I think I might have to keep away from the shows section for a while. I really need to see the guys live again soon & setlists like this just make me depressed.
Pleased you guys are getting such great shows in the US though, I'm SO jealous :)
So um... any word on when the next Dallas show is? I think two nights was enough to build up a dependence!!!
Awesome sets, awesome sounds, and the best light show I've seen in quite some time. Thank you guys!

Yeh, that had to be the incident that I witnessed - it was about 35-40 back from the stage in the center. It happened up to my left and about 8-12 feet away. Some guy just took an entire beer and held it up in the air and shook it sporadically until all of the beer had ended up on the crowd. Some were laughing and others weren't that amused, but I didn't see anyone ready to fight :D I'm just glad that I was far enough away to avoid it!

To be honest, I thought Jim was off on Friday. I feel like he was being pretty selfish with a couple songs - at least that's the way I took it.
Take "DonDante," for example - he totally weirded out with the ending by going haywire on his tuners. Carl had NO CLUE what was going on and was ready to do his sax solo, but Jim just took over. I thought it was selfish, but more importantly, that it didn't add anything. :-/
And "Run Thru" was similarly extended, with no benefit. I don't know - that was my feeling at the time. Thoughts?
Add on the "Off the Record" blunder, and there were just more rough spots than I cared for.
On a positive note - song choice was sick, even after hearing half of the same ones the night before (I could see the Jacket every night.... ;))
friday pics are now in the G.
So does anybody have a recording from this show or a video?? I was up front and want to re-live it.
My first Jacket show and the best show of my life. Seriously. I wish I wouldn't of had to go alone cuz no one to enjoy it with, but I cant force the wife to like the Jacket. Just secretly hate her for it. Kidding. Not really. No really. Did I see any of you guys? I was wearing the grey jamaican hat backwards and the yellow Mars Volta shirt before the show.
QuoteSo does anybody have a recording from this show or a video?? I was up front and want to re-live it.
I've seen clips on both youtube and myspace videos (amazingly clear pic and sound), search for gypsy tea room to get all specific.
I'd post links, but everything is kinda spinnin' right now.

We should join forces and have meetings. like the AA or something. A club for jealous Jacketeers, who only get the see them every two and a half years, but have to deal with loads and loads of great reviews. :'(

Yeh, I taped it, I wrote about it on a different thread, something like "Fri Dallas show yet? (and details on mine)", I haven't seen a recording yet, but someone put Thursday's up in 'the gallery', whatever and wherever that is! I can't download. My shows has two errors: missing almost all of What a Wonderful Man and Honest Man (they're there in their entireities but only coming through one channel for about five minutes because my cord came loose). I also am missing the entire beginning to One Big Holiday while I was changing discs. Otherwise, it sounds pretty good, and I am listening to it here at work. Still looking for Thursday and Friday as well as The Ryman show from some of you tapers and traders!

lowdog,
The gallery that people are refering to is the picture gallery in the links above. I haven't seen a recording surface as of yet but it takes time sometimes. I can burn you the shows that are out so far if you like, Nashville, Knoxville, and South Carolina. Just shoot me a PM or something.

I guess I was confused then; I thought that someone had a recording of Thursday night, but I guess that they meant the pictures were up there, not a recording!? The problem with this one lasts 3 minutes, ten seconds (that one channel buzzing sound) during What a Wonderman Man and Honest Man. If nothing else becomes available then I will send this to Kory or someone else. Not a great recording, but listenable.

yeah i ended up making it to the dallas show on friday!!
great stuff!!! saturday rawked too!!!
