Could this be true?!?!
It is possible. But I kind of don't belive. We can only hope that if it is true they get a longer spot than last year.
I hope it is true especially because they're not playing the Roo this year!

looks good to me ;D
Hot DAMN!!!! I have to find a way to go. Silversun Pickups!!!! The only thing that could make this any better is if Explosions In The Sky were playing. I would much rather go to this than Bonnaroo.
where is lollapalooza?
How long is a Lollapalooza set in comparison to a Bonnaroo set? I often have wondered this when looking at the lineup. I've heard the sets are shorter. The lineup for Lolla LOOKS far superior to that of the Roo, but at the same time, I'd hate to only get a 30-40 min set from all those awesome bands.
REALLY wish I could go even if MMJ only played a 10 minute set. They're that good. Hehe.
Does anyone know at what point last year they started selling one day tickets?
Quotewhere is lollapalooza?
Chi-Town! :)
OK...now I've gotta find a way to get my friends to sell our tix to the Eric Clapton guitar-god festival, so that we can go to this!!! Ya mon! I've been wanting to get to this fest and PJ and MMJ seem like good enough reasons to go!
small print: will likely be looking for new friends to attend lolla with as my current friends will be none-too-pleased with my bailing on the other event. :'( :( >:( ;) :)
That's enough for me. Just bought early bird tix. If 1/2 of the bands listed are true it will be worth it.
looks awesome, i still think Roo has a better lineup, but i will probably end up going to both.
Almost all of Lolla's sets are one hour. Except headliners, they get 90 minutes.
QuoteDoes anyone know at what point last year they started selling one day tickets?
one of the mods over at the lolla forums stated that single day tickets for this year will only be sold if and when the three day passes sell out, early summer at the earliest if that... so to be safe I wouldn't count on them selling single day passes

this is a quote from the talent buyer (AKA guy who gets the bands) from Lollapalooza:
Attal says he is particularly excited about My Morning Jacket, who he calls "his favorite band right now. Muse is also exploding. They just played the Forum in Los Angeles and sold it out."
Charles Attal, president of Charles Attal Presents (with Capital Sports & Entertainment) and talent buyer for Lollapalooza.

SILVERCHAIR!!!
I need my MMJ fix so bad right now, I'd go to fucking Baghdad for this.
FUCK YA!!! now I gotta get $195 so I can GOOOOO!!!! :)
Perry announced on the radio this morning that MMJ will be playing right before Pearl Jam. 8-)
Wow pretty Amazing lineup. Nothing but the best for MMJ. Love what the promoter said! :D
Do I predict new songs!?!?!? Absolutely!!! :D
The only thing that would make this better is a late night show Saturday night. Come on, make it happen!!
QuoteFUCK YA!!! now I gotta get $195 so I can GOOOOO!!!! :)
Holy shit, it's 195 dollars? That seems very high! What's in that, just admission?
Yep, just admission. But on the bright side there are no hidden taxes or fees...unless you want a hard ticket to be mailed out - in which case they charge the absolutely reasonable rate of $12.00!
QuoteI need my MMJ fix so bad right now, I'd go to fucking Baghdad for this.
Parts of Baghdad are safer than Parts of Chicago. The Hotdogs & pizza are better in Chicago, although I've heard they make one mean Corndog in Baghdad.
I'm so JACKED UP for this show, and I only have to take a 30 minute train ride to see it. :).
For $ 195.00 I better get a personal hand job from Parry Farrell. ( just kidding, not my type, he has a penis ).
I've never been to lollapalooza, I've heard they over charge for everything, anyone else heard that. $ 5.00 for a bottle water, etc.... etc...
I've gone the last two years. Sure everything is over priced, but with a 3 day pass, you can leave and re-enter as you choose, so you can buy more reasonable priced items outside the park. (Last year, one day tickets could not leave and re-enter.) Also they let you bring in 2 unopened bottles of water, much like every other fest.
One concern about MMJ playing right before Pearl Jam, last year Broken Social Scene had that time slot and was only given 45 minutes if memory serves. I know 45 minutes is better than nothing, but 60 or 90 minutes is better than 45. All this can be remedied by adding a late night show Saturday. If I mention it enough maybe it will happen.
This is kind of off topic but I haven't heard any MMJ airplay in ages; suddenly today they're throwing on some Z. Coincidence? This may be the harbinger of sold out arena shows. :-/
I heard OBH the other day on 93.1 WXRT.
Im already looking into air-fare for this, so much for bonnaroo. Ian, are you and orange jacket guy, up for this????? If I book this and it was just a bad rumor, this will be me >:( haven't been to Grant park since taste of chicago 2006 where we got to see the boys for free. It's on Cant wait.
Peace and love,
Cody

I've heard from several other message boards that they've pulled this cat and mouse game about single day passes the past 2 or 3 years and always end up selling them.
Also if the rumor about MMJ i going on before PJ is true that means they will be playing on Sun.

I thought the same thing when I heard One Big Holiday open the new movie "The Lookout" :-/
Last year there was a lot of crossovers between Lollapalooza and ACL Fest. I think they share a Rep. or something.
QuoteI heard OBH the other day on 93.1 WXRT.
I love XRT. Even though I don't live in Chicago anymore.
Any station that plays MMJ is awesome to me. They play all the oldie moldies and some good new stuff. I grew up listening to the Loop, they changed the format a little to much for me.
gonna buy my 3 day pass as soon as i get back from coachella. i know after that fest all i'll wanna do is go to another, especially is MMJ is preforming. Infact, i will go where ever they are. at this point in my life, being 21 years old, its the only thing that makes sense.
See ya'll there! Wait until all you fucks see Daft Punk! saw em last year at coachella...best show i have EVER seen, EVER! better than NYE Fillmore, and thats saying a whole lot.
LOVE

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but does Daft Punk even play instruments? It just looks like a couple of DJ's playing tunes. If I'm not into the whole rave thing, do I have a chance to enjoy them? I'm definitely not ruling it out that it could be awesome.
Also, enjoy all the stuff you can at 21. I have many regrets, as it gets much tougher as you get older with work, family, etc. I'll only be able to attend Lolla for 1 or 2 days at most, that's why I'm interested in Daft Punk to learn if it's a can't miss.

ha, no more late night posting and drinking for me
so they're playing with the chicago youth symphony orchestra????
mother of pearl. this will RULE.
MORE ON DAFT PUNK.
You will enjoy them, if you like that type of music. They're DJ's, and they're the best at what they do. At coachella last year, they played in a giant pyramid dressed as robots, which was one GIANT LCD screen that had the most amazing visuals i have seen at a show. the lights were dead on, the music was hot and nothing has been more fun than having 30,000 people dance together. not just bob your head kind of dance...like spinning in fuckin circles and jumping to the moon kinda dancing. it was the most amazing show i have ever seen...and im not a big D.Punk fan.
Trust me when i say this...there is a reson Daft Punk is headlining...they are gonna put on a show of all shows....BESIDES MMJ PLAYING WITH A BUNCH OF KIDS!
this is gonna rule.
Quoteso they're playing with the chicago youth symphony orchestra????

I just saw that too! Sweet! I still get mad when I think that I will never ever be able to hear the audio from the boston pop's show, so maybe this will be the next best thing!
WOO!

Indeed. We got a preview of that here in Chicago last November and it was AWESOME.

This might mean a shorter show (I'm not sure that youth orchestras can kick out the jams for 3 hours), but maybe some of the new songs feature an orchestra! :D
i think we can expect 1 and 15 min. Maybe they'll play some songs with out them too....i would looooove to see some acoustic, on a main stage, all eyes on JIM, spotlight, singing "into the woods". <----just a dream. dreams do come true i hear though.

Here's my contribution:
http://www.paloozahead.com/21715-226a
Is there a schedule, yet?
no
At the Chicago show in November, the orchestra only played 4 songs with the band:
1. Bermuda Hwy
2. At Dawn
3. Just One Thing
4. Gideon
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a similar situation at Lolla. By the way, the songs with the orchestra were pretty cool, but I did have trouble hearing them on a couple of the tunes. I think it was my position at the far far left side of the Riviera that hurt the sound.
dude I would go simply to hear Gideon played with the orchestra. That is going to be AMAZING...god.
I'm verrrrry jealous of anyone who is going...
