here's a special message from the band!
"For all of you who missed your prom back in 1956 or 1986 or 2006
for that matter, we will be hosting the 1st annual MMJ 2 night prom,
March 6th and 7th, at the fabulous, prom-ready, 40 watt club in Athens!
The first time we walked thru those hallowed 40 Watt doors we said to ourselves,
"this place looks perfect for a prom!" And now the dream will be a reality.
The theme is a futuristic/retro under the sea vibe - costumes (tuxes, suits,
robots, mermaid and lobster costumes, anything prom/ocean related) are
not only encouraged - they are MANDATORY!!! NO ONE will be admitted without
proper attire!** There will be cake, balloons, fishnets, classic cars, chaperones,
spankings, and a whole lotta shakin goin on - 2007 style upin this bitch ya'll.
Come prepared to dance the night away, and make up for all the proms you missed..."
- My Morning Jacket
**you may be admitted without proper attire
Yes! My prom blew hard! Thanks for giving me another chance MMJ!
Amazing.

Roll call bitches! Post if you'll be there!
You lucky fucks. Oh well. At least I won't have to spring for a tux rental.
In the spirit of proms everywhere and Lionel Richie covers...

Good thinking! Maybe they'll dust off "Don't Stop Believin'"
goddamn, that is amazing.
if i had a baby, i would sell it so that i could go to this.
Quotegoddamn, that is amazing.
if i had a baby, i would sell it so that i could go to this.
We can arrange that.
You know my digits.
Earth Angel! Earth Angel!

could you also shorten the length of pregnancy to... two weeks? i need to have the baby out and sold by the 1st of march.
anyone want a genius baby?
......on topic.....
since the theme is "oh what a nite," i hope we get a cover of the four seasons song.
I will buy the baby.
Cash.
What if I outbid you? I think she should put it on e-bay.
Nah, I'd rather go for a neutral site. Maybe ubid?
QuoteEarth Angel! Earth Angel!
They have to! GOd, this band amazes me, I hope one day I will attend a "theme" MMJ show!
And the obvious "oh what a night"
i wish i could be there so i can 6th grade awkward dance with all of you that are going. DON'T GET FRESH
i'm officially never coming in "the shows" section for now.
it hurts. :'(
man i was kind of hoping for the "Titanic Dreamz" theme. all you assholes that are getting to go to this better do it up right. in the immortal words of Jeff Lynne, "don't bring me down."*
this is your moment to shine.
*'[Don't Bring Me Down] is dedicated to the NASA Skylab space station, which reentered the Earth's atmosphere over the Indian Ocean and western Australia on July 11, 1979.'
Does anyone have a ticket to sell to any of these shows i need to go to them
cake, you are a huge pirate hooker. but i'm definitely going to get to 2nd base with that guy.
Ha! It looks like he's already half way to first! ;D
QuoteQuotered, you going?

My first was the Oregon trail and now this....WOW
I guess the Athens "haters"....and you know who you are will really come out in full force now...
Do you mind if we dance wif yo dates ;D ;D ;D
QuoteDoes anyone have a ticket to sell to any of these shows i need to go to them
I might have an extra 4 the second night....let me check andI'll get back to you
Okay, I have been back and forth and "Should I" or "Shouldn't I." Then, I read that it is a costume freaking party. MANDATORY dress!
F--- me, I am on my way to Florida to festival out with them on Saturday night, and now, I have this ache deep inside, I NEED TO GO TO THIS f--ing SHOW.
i need a ticket.
Quotei wish i could be there so i can 6th grade awkward dance with all of you that are going. DON'T GET FRESH
i read this and was reminded of my junior high dances... back when one of the "chaperones" would come push your and your pubescent love apart while saying, "leave room for jesus!"
and that baby is going up on ebay. he'll be all cute and shit... pretty good deal, guys! i think i'll start the bidding out at 500 dollars. you can get a discount if you promise to name him "sparticus heartbreaker."
Did they really say "leave room for jesus"?
Goddamn, the bible belt is tight down there...
I heard that at my dances. "Make sure Jesus can fit between you two", or something to that effect. Man... :-?
I say that MMJ will play the prom staple crimson and clover.
Over and over
ok..first San Fran, now Athens!!!
when are the boyz gonna give some love back to the hometown!!!
QuoteI heard that at my dances. "Make sure Jesus can fit between you two", or something to that effect. Man... :-?
like jesus would really want to squeeze between two preteens and try to get his groove on to some color me badd
I'm going to be very disappointed if we don't get some Huey Lewis.
QuoteI'm going to be very disappointed if we don't get some Huey Lewis.
and some new drugs...mmmmmmmmm ;D ;D
I have two words to say......BEE GEES :)
I'm starting to think mabey they should just get a dj to go on right after the show ends the first night and play until the show starts the next night......a 24hr. party people.
Brian, you're planning on taping right?
This definitely made my day. And Week. And month. I've been waiting for a nice southern theme show, and here it is.
There's gonna be a run on leisure suits at every thrift store in the souteastern corridor. Hehe.
Leaving room for Jesus is no problem, since most of MMJ look like Jesus.
QuoteBrian, you're planning on taping right?
Yeah, I'm in the process of looking for a costume with antennas so I can tape my mics to them.
Quotegod i hope i get laid after this prom
Pics?
I guess all you single guys and gals better comb the high schools for a date to this gig. Cause Showin up solo to a prom ain't cool.
A prom with MMJ can't be topped. Slow dancin to I Will Sing Songs will get you laid fer sure.
True Story, I got expelled for the last two weeks of high school my senior year so my principle only let me get my picture taken with my date and then he found me and made me leave. Which was totally cool with me. Thanks MMJ for my second chance. They have to have a picture station with a totally awesome background. I'm going to send the picture to my old high school principle.
oh, I SOOOO wish I could be on the Balloon Committee for this.
I think the picture station should have the guys in the background in an underwater forest with spaceships floating around and Jim doing the ole RabbitEars over each person's head!! That would be SWEET!
wish I could take my prom date. Zman, can we RENT our cute kiddo out so we can go? pleeeeeeez? ;)
"I think the picture station should have the guys in the background in an underwater forest with spaceships floating around and Jim doing the ole RabbitEars over each person's head!! That would be SWEET!"
I like the way you think. :-*
They are sooooo going to play a new song.
I try.
If I could come in a flaming tutu I would (literally, and you KNOW I would! ;)). But only if I could slow dance to Careless Whisper with Jim. just once. no one cuts in, either, or I burn them. seriously.
I would pay double to see that happen.
QuoteI'm starting to think mabey they should just get a dj to go on right after the show ends the first night and play until the show starts the next night......a 24hr. party people.
FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
So did tickets already go on sale and sell out? Or have they not been released yet?
That is friggin hilarious; take pictures, lots of pictures--but how about some love for those of us only able to go to asheville...we wanna play dress up tooo......
QuoteSo did tickets already go on sale and sell out? Or have they not been released yet?
went onsale about 3 weeks ago and probably sold out soon after, the 40 watt only has a capacity of 500 people.
"the 40 watt only has a capacity of 500 people."
I just got chills.
Quote"the 40 watt only has a capacity of 500 people."

ONE OF THOSE 500 PEOPLE JUST MIGHT BE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously. I have got to find someone to work for me, and I am there. My lady friend is hooking it up with tickets for BOTH nights. Jesus! If this works, out...

(plus snorkelz)
i hope all the boys ask all the girls to slow dance during "I will be there when you die". That would rule!
If they don't already have a disco-ball up in that joint I can definatly bring mine. Someone just needs to let me know, I don't want to unmount it from the ceiling above my bed unless I really need to.

would it need to be washed.....forget I asked that question
i am soooo sad i can't go to this. doubly sad now that the theme is announced! could this band be any cooler? everyone please take lots of pictures and post lots of reviews. i would skip school and fly out there, but it's one week before my spring break and i have a midterm. while mmj prom is way more important than a midterm, i don't think grad school would accept that excuse. screw a career, i'll just follow mmj for a living. sweet life. just would need lots of money without working...hmm...
dear mmj,
you're awesome. please have another prom in a little club in austin. thank you. seven shows just ain't enough. keep em coming.

Oh Please! Oh Please! Oh Please!
I know you guys dig Austin as much as San Francisco, Athens, Louisville (ok, maybe not Louisville).
I know a great old west town we can rent out... Everyone can dress up in the spirit of "Shootout at the O.K. Corral", and Jim can ride off in the sunset...
This theme kept seeming reminicent...and I definately skipped Prom...
But then it came to me...

there has to be a Marty Mcfly in the house!!!!
WWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

you could sell drugs...i hear you can make a lot of money.
How about a Chuck Berry cover?!?!?!?
Damn. I seriously considered coming from Dallas to these shows when the tix went on sale. Now they announce this and tix are all gone. Damn. I'd go if anyone could hook me up with a ticket for each night. I know it's a long shot....thanks for reading.
That's awesome, so are you on the prom Committee this year, are you guys helping decorate and stuff? Do you need help? What were the themes in past years?
Wow, that makes me want to roll the dice. :)
This can't really be happening. Can It? I am so confused about what is trying to be accomplished here. Please, please, please, JUST FUCKING DROP IT!!!! Team Clarimont?
He deleted his post so let's delete all of ours and pretend it was just a bad daydream.
Is Marvin Berry gonna be there to hear the new sound he was looking for?
Lets hope they can fenagle deerland off of Elvis like they did in SF. Whats an under the sea prom without some wet horns?
You guys need to relax. I removed that post so it wouldn't look like we were attacking the band (or serious for that matter). One of the members of TC posted something to our blog (in jest). I posted on here (again, in jest). How would we know pitchfork would run with it? Once pitchfork covered it, I decided to pull the one from here so it wouldn't look like we were trying to attack from all sides and it wouldn't get blown out of proportion.
And for the record, we didn't ask for them to cancel their shows. We challenged them to play ours as well.
It's a non-issue. They would never, actually, do it. The goofy shows are sold out already. We were just having a little fun with them.
The End.
Ticketholders: Have fun at the prom you lucky mofo's! :)
Ba-weeted...hehe.

The pitchfork article made you all look like complete assholes. I thought it was all in jest until I read that article. Subject dropped.
HOLY COW!!
my work schedule has been so dense that i missed this announcement!
AND i was all set to post that i would have to miss these shows b/c of work. (dumb old job).
but NOW...i am scheming frantically to attend at least one of them. i know i can miss one day...somehow...
holy cats.
fucking awesome.
and for good measure: YOW!!
plane ticket purchased.
room booked.
car booked.
now, what to tell my boss? ;)
winds of change: i am taking a new job in mid-march. just gave notice yesterday. if--IF--they can hire a replacement before next week i can go to at least one of these shows.
any good "replacement editor hiring vibes" will be greatly appreciated! mwah! [smiley=beer.gif]
also, whether or not this trip is a go i'm going to be spending my weekend fashioning a theme tiara. (note to self: do NOT use the glue gun while drinking beer!)
Well, my outfit will be wigaliciously ridiculicious jacketicious.
Now, I just need a ticket.
What will Georgia do with all the dressed up Jacket fans who can't get into the show?
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :-*

WOOOOOOO!!
going to have to revue the "what to do in athens" thread this weekend. :)
wings & beer? hell. yes.
So is everyone getting nervous?
Do you all have your dates lined up?
Don't forget, the ridges on the cumberbun face downward so they don't catch crumbs!
Guys, DO NOT forget the corsages and boutonnieres.
Make sure that you get a limo with privacy glass for afterwards. Losing your virginity on prom night has been a right of passage for generations.
Don't drink and drive! Get a hotel room and jam 17 people in it. And don't forget to bring a scrunchee so you don't have to hold your dates hair back when she's puking in the toilet at 2 AM.
Shit, I forgot the limo!
I'm wearing a plaid fake tux jacket from a 50's costume. Feel free to say hello!
Working on the the costume options; the ticket I had to beg (and pay $$$ for) should arrive in the mail today.
that scrunchie is a good idea! i never knew which way the folds on a cummerbund faced. huh.
i think night one is going to be the tuxedo t-shirt!
woo!
after these two shows, and 4 last week. I can't afford to go get a "costume". Is that lame? I think i'll just show up in my bathrobe, per the other thread.
and shower cap...
a bathrobe is a MORNING JACKET....and a shower cap is a nice MORNING HAT.
Just a modest proposal: Post your reviews in this thread instead of starting a million different review threads.
omg it all begins tonight.
you LUCKY people!!!
electric!
Wish I could be there. Just got the April issue of Esquire in the mail and the #1 live band is none other than...........My Morning Jacket. Like there was any competition.
I live here in Athens so I made a lap around the 40Watt on my lunch break. No sightings except the pimp looking navy tourbus. Got the chills just surveying the calm before the storm though. My buddy works in an office across the street and just reported Jim walking around out back with a beer. No big news obviously, but it is just so exhilerating to know they are 10 miles away and getting ready to throw down!
I can honestly say I am more psyched for this show than any other I've attended in my 25 years on this earth. I mean, my favorite band, in my home town, in a 500-person venue...two nights in a flippin' row!
;D ;D ;D
Uhhh, I am still waiting on the annoucement that a local radio station is going to broadcast the show online. You better hurry up people, you are running out of time.
so, my day just got even better. i just ate lunch at clocked(right by the 40 watt, check it out out-of-towners) and walked around the corner where the bus was parked to go to my car and then.......jim walked out and my buddy and I met him!!!! talked to him for just a min. he seemed pretty busy, but he was really nice and seemed really excited!!! I CANT WAIT!!!! ;D
get ready for tonight!! ill be the idiot up front with a red sweatband on...see ya there
just swung by the venue to get the lay o'the land and witnessed some of the decorating team hanging colorful tulle up in the entryway.
hooray!
I must reciprocate Don Dante's sentiments. It's been a loooooong time since I've been this psyched for a show. I'm still lookin for folks to kick it with tomorrow during the day. I got no where to stay, and no one to hang out w/. Hit me up if you wanna get out and do something, or come say hi tonight at the show. I'll be rocking my brown bathrobe.
jeff

FUCK I can't believe I'm sitting here while you guys are rockin hard... :'(
PUT SETLIST HERE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE SHOW!!!! PLEASSSSSSE!
Listen to the man!
(I'm watching Live at Pompeii to keep my mind off the fact that I am missing this!!)
Ohhhh, that's a good distraction. I hear Ryan Adams is gonna play pompeii. No, or is it stonehenge?
QuoteOhhhh, that's a good distraction. I hear Ryan Adams is gonna play pompeii. No, or is it stonehenge?
Don't know. But either way, that sounds fantastic. Every time I watch pompeii now I think of that show MMJ did in Italy that has the same feel. I would love to see a show in a setting like that.

I'm still waiting. . . :-/
I guess everyone is still doing doughnuts in the parking lot and trying to decide who's turn it is to use their fake id for more beer.
Ms. Yvon?
alright, off to bed with me - looks like no setist tonight. :'(
can't wait for the show tonight!
from ufck.org
the whole band was wearing tuxes and then this fake plastic head piece that looked like an elvis costume.
setlist was very comparable to the sets last year with a few "oldies" songs thrown in. not their own "oldies" but shit you'd hear on the "oldies" radio station.
dondante, one big holiday, run thru, they ran to close the main set was mega.
jim james had a pink tux
I know nothing else
hello!
sorry got distracted when i found out "the jerk" is on cable...have now realized that late night comedy central also means lots of ads for 1-900 numbers. oy. full disclosure: the show ended at about 1:30 am and i'm pretty tuckered, so this will be brief.
before the show actually got to meet some of the forum peeps! rccola, kory, dennis and ...oh...man, i've forgotten his name! i only spent the whole night standing next to him. lame.
in the interest of getting this out there:
the opening band was Follow the Train. props to these 6 guys for taking the stage decked out in sea creature costumes! my favorite had to be the enormous starfish, followed closely by the lobster head on the drummer.
after Follow...the lights went down and the band came on...each of them sporting a tux of a different color and enormous silver plastic pompadours. 8-)
carl--orange
tt-tom--lt. blue
pat--red
bo--orange w/a top hat, no helmet hair. :)
jim--pink
the SET LIST!
-Oh What a Night! w/carl sax solo
-wordless chorus
-gideon
-way he sings
-wonderful man
-banter: "we're gonna play the first all-skate of the evening. everybody skate."
-golden--some feedback at the top of the song, which had tt-t and carl making some funny "booop" faces at each other
-it beats 4 u
-off the record--out. of. control. also jim had a 2 ft. inflated pink dolphin attached to the end of his guitar thru a good portion of this song.
-laylow
-banter: "another all skate"
-cobra--YOW. cannot get enough of this tune! during the instrumental break of the vocal section, carl was swaying back and forth and jim was shaking his head. at some point in the song jim got ahold of a rubber lobster and was petting it during the song.
-dondante--gorgeous! it still kills me the amount of chatter and noise during this song at every show. sigh. then they just RIPPED into:
-one big holiday
-banter: jim greeted the Class of 2007, thanked us all for celebrating prom with the band and crew. he described the 40 Watt as the "most magical cube in the universe."
-run thru--bad. ass.
-they ran--love this song. period.
break
--band crowns the prom king and queen, and plays the song for their dance:
-wonderful tonight (with amended lyrics to follow... ;) )** at this point, monitor dave was sporting one of the pompadour helmets.
-dancing in the moonlight (!)--"you can't dance and stay uptight!"
-steam engine--TAKE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR DRUUUUUUUGS!
-mahgeeta
-anytime--blow out. hot damn!
mmj's lyrics to "wonderful tonight" go something like this...
i put on your makeup
and your beautiful bra
slip on your panties
start on your tights
and you say
i look wonderful tonight...
at one point i noticed carl singing along the line "beautiful bra." outstanding ;D
GREAT SHOW! i was standing in front of carl and his monitor was a little loud BUT it meant that i got to hear all of the amazing stuff he was doing. in dondante he is playing these subltle, short notes...fucking gorgeous.
Thanks for the review! It sounds like it was really an awesome show. COBRA! :)
What do we do when Ms. Yvon is not at the shows?
So will tonight be different?
Grrrrreetings to all the kids who could not come out for Spring Break as Prom 2007.
(Like, dude, what school lets out in March for the year? Rock and roll high school!!!)
Niiiice......I really enjoyed reading that.
Thank you.
Damn it! I KNEW I would miss the infamous Cobra by not being able to make it last night - augh! Why oh why couldn't you have saved it for tonight Jim??? :'(
oh well, I'm sure there's plenty in store for tonight!
thanks for the review!! It's been a pleasure reading it! Can't wait for pics.
last night was amazing!! I have a TON of pictures should i put them here or is there a way i can get them in the gallery section/? let me know and ill have them up asap!! Thanks!!
Last night was amazing indeed! My ears are still ringing and my head's still bobbin'. Looking forward to those pics Kyle.
Dancing in the moonlight! I have to hear this...did anyone tape? I can't wait to hear more about the show and see pictures.
road notes: have just put the call in for room service coffee. by the time i get it together to get out of this room, i kow it will be almost noon, so getting coffee in here (and me) is imperative.
-woke up with "oh what a night!" in my head.
-i met one person from athens, ga during the show. everyone else was from out of town. this guy may have gotten the impression i was hitting on him b/c i asked, "do you live here in town?" ;D
Thanks Yvon!
QuoteDancing in the moonlight! I have to hear this...did anyone tape? I can't wait to hear more about the show and see pictures.
When I passed you in the doorway
You took me with a glance
I should have took that last bus home
But I asked you for a dance
Now we go steady to the pictures
I always get chocolate stains on my pants
My father he's going crazy
Say's I'm living in a trance
But I'm dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in its spotlight
It's alright, alright
Dancing in the moonlight
On the long hot summer night
It's three o'clock in the morning
And I'm on the streets again
I disobeyed another warning
I should have been in by ten
Now I won't get out until Sunday
I'll have to say I stayed with friends
But it's a habit worth forming
If it means to justify the end
Are we talking King Harvest or Thin Lizzy?
okay, the Lobster avatar is the fuggin' greatest!
well, which is it?? :o
Definitly not the Thin Lizzy version.....
The band played a heck of a show but I must be honest.... the sound in the venue was really, really bad. Durring the first 3 songs, the speakers were crackling probably due to the fact that they busted a speaker or two or three! There never seemed to be a good mix of the instruments with the vocals and you could hardly make out the words (if you didn't know them already ;) )as the vocals were fuzzy.
Call me spoiled but after seeing them at the Ryman 2nd row, I do not think anything will ever compare!

Dancing In The Moonlight
( King Harvest )
We get it on most every night
When that old moon gets so big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight
Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin' warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancin' in the moonlight
We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight

So was it the normal amount of people for the 40 watt, or did they invite less to make room for tables and big dresses?

Underwater prom promises to be big draw for Jacket
by ANNA KRAKOVSKI
The first time My Morning Jacket's Jim James stepped foot into the 40 Watt Club, he realized the venue was prom-perfect.
"Jim told us he wanted to host an 'Under The Sea' prom show," said Velena Vego, the club's booking
agent.
"I was very impressed that My Morning Jacket wanted to do the theme with us two nights in a row," she said. "They're one of the best up-and-coming live bands, and even though they could play at bigger places, they chose the 40 Watt Club which is just awesome."
The band is composed of singer/guitarist Jim James, bassist Two-Tone Tommy, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster.
My Morning Jacket has made a name for itself by partaking in festivals such as Bonnaroo and Langerado and by playing with bands such as moe., Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Widespread Panic.
It's not surprising the two night event, that will be held at the 40 Watt Club on March 6 and 7, sold out within two days.
MY MORNING JACKET
When: 9 tonight and Wednesday
Where: 40 Watt Club
Price: Sold out
Lucky attendees can expect to relive the high school prom experience with cake, "chaperones," balloons and a whole lot of bumpin' and grindin'.
"It's going to take quite a few hours for the staff to put everything together," Vego said.
If the staff is going to transform the club into the lost city of Atlantis, guests certainly must do their part in dressing up to fit the "Under The Sea" theme.
"Proper attire is mandatory," Vego said. "Anybody not dressed up won't be allowed in."
This calls for fishnets, mermaid attire, lobster suits, snazzy tuxes, elegant evening gowns and some old fashion corsage-boutonnire exchanges.
The two nights are sure to be a lot more exciting than any high school prom ever was, especially since taking a date is not necessary.

I am another spoiled veteran of the Ryman and 'roo, so i pray they get the mix right tonight.

the 40 watt does a really nice job of not over-selling shows. every sold-out show that i have been to there has never been overwhelming. it gets crazy up front, but there is always copious amounts of room to wander around in the back if you get too hot, etc.
looks like last night was crazy. i hope everyone that was there had a great time. i'm coming up from augusta tonight & just heard about the "Under the Sea" prom theme a few days ago & was wondering what the deal was with the attire. are they actually not letting people in who aren't in tuxes or have i misunderstood.
can't wait for tonight it will be the first time i've gotten to see MMJ!
thanks, travis
Quotewondering what the deal was with the attire. are they actually not letting people in who aren't in tuxes or have i misunderstood.
They will let you in, but most people dressed up.
QuoteQuotewondering what the deal was with the attire. are they actually not letting people in who aren't in tuxes or have i misunderstood.

yeah, they will let ya in, but i would say 90% of the people there dressed up...which was really cool...also, it does get hot up front, but it is the place to be and def worth it

Yep, the show will probably get posted on digitalpanic.org or archive.org or both in about a week when the taper gets back from vacation. When the sound is shotty though, you can probably blame the drunk prom dates to our right that bumped into the microphone several times last night:-)
But such is life. Anyway, hey y'all. First time posting here. Those of us that live in Athens sure had fun last night. I would respectfully disagree with the person above though and say that it was not 90% of the folks dressed up, more like 50-60%. Good times.
The show may or may not be taped tonight. It was pretty dodgy back there last night and we'd like to just have a bit more fun tonight and not worry about it.
What are the chances I'll hear my favorite MMJ Prince cover tonight?
Thanks for taping jayne! If me helping in any way gets a tape out of tonight, I'll do what I can but I know it's gotta be hard, thanks for your effort and I look forward to reliving the experience.
Brian was supposed to make it down and tape but I haven't heard from him in weeks...
anyhow, my brother and I have been working on a new website and we've posted pictures from last night with setlists and ticket pictures on there for now, check it out!
Thanks for the setlist yvon!

It was actually not me taping, I was just helping.
I think he's gonna just make a last minute call on tonight. If you do see the mics, and you don't mind helping form a circle around it, that would be great. That would help. And say hi while you're at it.
cool, thanks! I'll stop by tonight, I'll either have a fake plad prom jacket on and a "prom king" sash or I may just be in my louisville tshirt....
have fun!
too bad Sloan Simpson wasn't taping it. he's at the 40 watt a lot.

i'll also disagree that it was all out of towners. there were a bunch of us from athens.
can't wait for tonight.

kory!! rad shots! if i wasn't so ansy to get into town, i'd look at them all. there is a terrific bo playing/beaming shot. well done! :D
Has anyone mentioned the Prom Pictures? For 5 bucks you could have your picture taken and placed in a screen printed card/photo holder that was personalized for the Prom theme. And they served cake. Hehe.
From where I was, against the barricade in front of Jim, the show was the bomb. Those first few songs with the noise distracted a little, but overall I didn't think the sound was that bad.
I finally got me one of those Jim James #34 guitar picks with the Orangutan from Okonokos on the other side. Brucie actually handed me two, so I gave one to Kelly and Mark who I met from Philly. (Hey guys!).
I so wish I could make it to the show tonight, but it wasn't in the cards. All in all though, an excellent show.

He's one of my best friends. He wanted to come but wasn't feeling well, and the drive from Atlanta can be a bit much some nights. I thought about getting him to put the mp3s up on his site, but there's no point to it really when they can just go on archive.org just as easily (that is, IF MMJ is on there, i think they are).
Hello Friends,
I'm on the computer at the Holiday Inn in Athens. I did in fact tape the show and it came out pretty nice. I will post it when I get home. I met the guy behind the soundboard that had the mics set up. He said he will post his recording as well. He is also taping tonight.
If anyone wants to meet up tonight you could pm me your phone digitz and I'll check the computer before we leave tonight. Annabeth and I will be getting there early tonight. I will set up my taping equipment and then we will stake out our spot close to the stage. Athens is amazing what a beautiful day we had here today. I can't believe all the awesome stores. I really wish I was rich right now. The selection of Vinyl records in this town is astounding. I'll post about the show at a later date. Time to start getting ready!!!!!! They really went all out on Run Thru and added some new twists.

ahhh! kory! the first picture on there breaks my heart. i am sending you a pm to explain.
so, did they end up playing this magic moment?
You know all I'm interested in is the covers! ;)
Sounds magical. I'm jealous of all those who attended.
Tried to sleep but I couldn't sleep.
Got prom night on the brain.
all of this is very good.

the SET LIST!
AWESOME REVIEW! Thanks!

Bri, as I sit here at work, I raise my late afternoon cup of coffee to you and AB. Take some vibes in for LA and I.
Peace.
No magic monument, I think they are saving it for when they play beneath the Sunsphere in Knoxville next year. Tracy, I wish you guys were here and I was wearing your space suit. It was Crunk to Deaf up in the 40watt. Annabeth and I had a nice slow dance to They Ran.....and when I say "nice" I mean I got an erection. Oh, I had to go back and listen to the tape so I could hear "Wonderful Tonight" again and the correct lyrics are......
i put on your makeup
and your beautiful bra
slip on your panties
then pull on your tights
and I say
YES
i look wonderful tonight...
Jonesing bad now... :(

I knew it! Back to Back to the Future. :o
I love that movie. :)
I like Back to the Future 2 better. Also, I think that 'giant robot' is actually a giant lobster.
ok. because i have to shower, pack and leave for atlanta in one hour i am JUST GOING TO POST THE SETLIST. really. i mean it.
let's see how this works out... ;D
--intro music a calypso piece
--one big holiday
--wonderful man
--gideon
**next to all three of these songs i wrote in all caps: BLOWING OUT!! GODDAMN!! ;D
--lowdown --bo rocking the keys with authority! (hey lisamarie!!)
--off the record--sweet jesus!
--O is the one that is real--on my set list as: O!! YEEEAAAH!!
--lay low
--sing you songs--whew. gorgeous! *swoon* this included the echoey outro that they've been playing lately
--wordless chorus--WOOOOO! jim was sporting a veil of tulle (think tu-tu fabric) that he pulled off pat's drum kit for the top o'this one
--phone went west!!
--banter: all skate rap: jim explained that they want to change the rules of singles-only slow skates to include everyone. we were all encouraged to skate. :D
--bear! really beautiful tonight.
--dondante--really LONG instrumental tonight. in my notes as: wow! wow!
--dancefloors! WOOO!! t-t tommy took this song to task tonight. bad. ass.
--mahgeeta--again, my enthusiastic notes scrawled while fending off some moshing: FUCKING ROCKED--again, a note re: the badass quality of tom's playing. ;D
BREAK
--crowing o' prom king & queen--not a real couple apparently, some mixup there. as the queen's shirtless date was escorted off the stage in favor of the guy in the jacket and viagra tie, she said, "but that's my boyfriend!" she spent a good part of the dance establishing a polite dancing distance from her king. ;D
--they danced to 'wonderful tonight'--i will leave it to someone else to describe what else was happening during this number. i will offer just this: pat, bo and tom were laughing A LOT during this whole bit.
--Oh What a night!--frankie valli & the four seasons version--jim NAILED the falsetto parts at the end. as our australian friends say: RIPPA!
--JOHNNY B. GOODE.--FUCKING MADHOUSE!!--i had to employ some defensive dancing during this number, but i didn't care. CARL, YOU BADASS!!
--golden--we all needed a cool down after the last one. (**ok. of note: golden just started playing on my itunes. lovely!! it's the acoustic citsuoca version. ahhhhhh)
during this song, jim was sporting the prom queen's left behind tiara as a headband
--anytime
--run thru--my notes, which make me laugh to remember: GOOD LORD!! OMG!! Carl RIPPING ;D
--at this point follow the train came out to join in for the last (argh!) number:
--crimson & clover--carl performed the echoey vocal bit live into the mic while everyone was singing "crimson and clover, over and over..."
holy hell.
AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH!!! i'm going to be riding the high of this show all the way to the atlanta hairport tonight.
today was filled with people from the forum: YOU ALL ROCK!! thanks for being social and bringing the party. WOOOOO!! safe travels to all of you. tomorrow night we can all wait for someone else to post the asheville setlist (JEN I'M LOOKING AT YOU! ;) )
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW.
oh, and i had a jb's sausage after the show. and jb invited up on the stand to take a photograph with him. a gentleman who knows how to grill the vegetables to compliment a sausage. BONUS!!
(also--hit the mean bean AND jittery joe's today. SPOT ON RECOMMENDATIONS, KIDS!)
now i am REALLY getting into the shower and packing before i run out of steam (engine...)
:D :D :D
OH WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 one

Ms. Yvon, Your review was Rippa.
I really can't collect myself right now.
Crimson & Clover!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
Follow The Train played the most theatrical version of "Feel Like Makin Love" that has ever been dreamed of. ;D
This was literally the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!
Thank you Jim, Carl, Bo, Patrick, Tommy, Brucie, Mike etc. etc For The Best Prom Ever!!!
Love :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* Brian
ciao kids!!
heading out. only 10 min behind schedule. nice!
omg, those reviews are divine:) Thanks for posting so soon! Keep 'em coming!
1:45 in the west, I'm up studying here - those reviews gave me such a jolt of happiness, I just might make it to daylight:) Better than coffee I tell you...
By now, Yvon is in the air on the way home to California. I have something resembling sleep, more like a drunken dreamship to carry me to the next day.
Caffeinated and preparing for a long day of sunshine and pavement on the way south.
Since I was not officially 'covering' for the webzine this time, I actually just got lost inside the massive feeling of the happening.
To all the people I danced with, I love you! Forgive me people because I bumped into you or hugged you too tight in overjoyed bliss or moshed around like it was a punk show during Run Thru. Humbled and honored I was to be in the presence of so many g-damn gorgeous prom goddesses!
The 40 Watt, of course, is too small for the Jacket. The fans, well, you were all far too beautiful, either cute and silly in your swim cap and goggles or steamy hot in your prom dress and smile. We all should have been arrested for how good looking we were. That fun like this remains legal gives me hope for the future of our fumbling species.
My secret mission besides dancing with all of you was to get an interview with Jim. No deal. Been calling the publicist almost daily for 2 weeks and even met the road manager at soundcheck. No press this tour. No interviews until the new album is ready or something like this.
Following up Okonokos and Z or the NYE at Filmore and March prom at the 40 Watt is like asking God to follow up the garden of Eden and the Easter resurrection, but if any band is up for it, the Jacket are.
Love to all of you. I will wear the purple wig again Saturday night, so if you are in Florida, please dance with the purple freak from Tennessee!!!!

Would someone please post the setlists from the past two nights in the proper place?
Thanks and see you kids in Ashevegas!

Stupid question, but was the What A Night the first night different than the 4 Seasons version from last night? Officially Dec 1963 (What A Night)...
I don't remember this being the first song on the first night...but it's been a long two days.
carl played sax on it the first night...pretty sure it was the same song though....i got a setlist from the band last night too but cant firgure out how to put pictures up here...help :-[
man, what a night! nice to put some faces with names - Yvon and Anu it was great to meet you two. I finally got to meet Jim and got a picture of the two of us - will post later when I've had a chance to settle down - just got back from seeing MMW play a small lunch time show in Atlanta, so I'm worn out. Kory looked for you last night, but couldn't find you - shoot me your address and I'll mail you a copy of the Salt Lake show.
Anyone at these shows see any tapers?
I didn't see any last night.

the opening song of the first night was the Dells song from 1956: a doo-wop style ballad.
the song on the second night December 1963 (thanks, jayne!) is a frankie valli and the 4 seasons tune from 1975.
STEELY B! that copy of the Salt Lake show propelled me from athens to atlanta in the darkest part of this morning. THANK YOU!! [smiley=beer.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]
I just posted some photos on my blog from the show - I have many, many more, but just a sampling for now - it's tough shooting with a tiny digital with no flash, but I think I got some good photos ... and one of me and Jimmy, alright!

Enjoy!
You all ROCK! ;D Ms Yvon, your reviews are sooo real and fun, as always! As jealous as I am, I'm so freakin happy for all ya'll who got to be there! BIG Love for the tapers!
ooh, and thanks for the pics!

VIVA LE JACKET!!

Does anyone have any pictures of the Prom King and Queen from Wednesday night? My friend was the shirtless King who got kicked off the stage and his girlfriend was the blue haired Queen. It would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I can't say enough how amazing prom was. I really hope someone taped it.
QuoteI didn't see any last night.
Dammit. I really should have gone to these shows so there would be guarenteed tapes that would get out. The sad thing is that its my spring break, so I really could have gone.
that's not to say that there wasn't anyone taping - I just didn't see any stands in the air. I really wish MMJ would start selling soundboards of their shows (especially big shows like the two past nights) - I know this has been brought up before, but it's worth revisiting...
I taped both nights. I am working on getting night two ready to put up on etree. Hopefully here in a couple of hours.
EVERYONE needs to check out athcast.com
They taped both nights for podcasts. Very cool people and I'm betting thier recording will end up being better than mine. They told me it will be available for download once they get it up on the site.

Sweet! Thanks Brian!
thanks for the skinny, brian! hey, sorry i missed you last night!
ya brian, sorry I missed you as well. I kept looking for mics both nights and had an eye out for you. I think I saw you on carl's side of the stage but wasn't for sure. I should have said something...
anyhow, just got off of an 8 hr drive and am starting to go through night two pictures... as if 600 pics the first night wasn't enough, I almost cleared the 800 mark last night. Ask yvon, I was clicking like crazy and I'm sure I got some sweet shots, I used night two to experiment with the manual slr settings of the camera. I'll have some more on our site tomorrow.
I'm still speechless about the shows... incredible!
Brian - YOU ARE THE MAN!!! Thanks so much for taping and the super-speedy tansfer - can't wait to hear!

Hilarious! After looking at your blog, you stood right next to me for a while last night. I was the dork with the "prom king" sash and snapping pictures like a fool.
My friend told me later on the way back home that someone was asking for me and he just really didn't pay that much attention but I think you asked the guy next to me if he was Kory and I was to your right... oh well... looks like i missed quite a few folks.
Good to meet you yvon and rccola!
Steely, I'll pm you my addy if you don't mind sending that show along. glad you had fun at the mmw show as well! Nite folks, work in the morning is calling my name...

2. 800 pix!! Kory, you are a badass! 8-)
3. dumb old job. glad to hear you made it back to louisville in one piece! or three pieces, counting your travel crewe!
4. brian, you are a taping-seeding-demi-god.
bit torrent-challenged person plea: if anyone has the time or inclination to post these shows as mp3s, i would greatly appreciate it. OR, if a flac-savvy person would be willing do this the old fashioned way and hook me up with a b&p deal, i would dig that as well. :-*
anu called me from langerado. I AM SO JEALOUS THAT HE GETS TO SEE ANOTHER SHOW! damn.
yvon, and all. I'll be heading home in a few minutes and I'll get night one started downloading and night two going up on the archive...
It may be a few hours but I have a pretty speedy upload. Glad everyone made it home or to the next destination safely. Big ups to Brian!
I can't stop listening to Crimson and Clover and Johnny B. Goode. That encore on night two is the most amazing thing that has ever happened. Wait until you people hear Bo's keys on Johnny B. Goode... :o Oh yea, Carl's not bad on the guitar either :o The vocal effect Jim puts on his voice at the end of Crimson and Clover.......A+!
Thanks Kory for all the beutiful things you do for us here. I owe you a tape of Follow The Train.
I have so many amazing memories from these shows but one of my favorite has to be during Johnny B Goode...I was dancing my ass off when my wife turned to me and smiled really big, then she pointed for me to look back at the crowd behind us, when I turned around the ENTIRE crowd was smiling and dancing as if their lives depended on it.
you don't owe me diddly bro... it's thanks to you, I can relive the concerts over and over again. Gracias!
Anyone else get a nice grease burger at Clocked? Twas good!

Undoubtedly my favorite part of the shows. Good call Brian. With all the amazing theatrics and covers, this was the song that has been on the brain the most for the last couple days. Definitely the most shaking and dancing I have seen percentage-wise at any show I've ever attended. I was twisting so hard I almost hurt myself! I've heard a few bands cover this song, and their's was by far the best, just spot on.

nipsey, you are the wind beneath my wings! [smiley=beer.gif]
WOO!
big kisses for nipsey :-* - - and for Brian and Kory and the rest of y'all. I'm feelin' the love around here... It feels good.
Y'know, after Ryan Adams cleaned himself up a bit, he did an interview where he basically said, "If you're a dick, you're gonna attract dicks." Meaning - early on, he'd be pretty disrespectful to his audience, and then wonder why he had assholes shouting "Summer of '69!" night after night. He's better now. Good people attract good people. MMJ is a solid bunch of boys - y'all's (is that a word?) generosity and pure kindness, offering up the love and expecting nothing in return but the happiness you get from offering it, is testament to that. It feels good...
Sorry - I'm... sleep deprived...
bridget, i think you pegged it. there will always be the "play the hits"/rude drunks crowd, but i think the "sharing the euphoria" contingent is mighty strong at the mmj shows b/c of the vibe they project.
under the sea prom, costumes encouraged? speaks for itself.
i would like to state publicly that i am dying for some details on last night's asheville show. if we don't hear something soon, i'm going to encourage you all to make something up and post it in the other thread. ;)

Thanks to the tapers by the way.
so what i hear...is fucking amazing. you mean to tell me that they did both versions of "Oh What A Night"
Night 1 - The Dells
Night 2 - Frankie Vallins and the 4 Seasons.
MMJ had it all planned in their elvis heads. Night 1 more relaxed, night 2 nothing but dancing. Dont YOU PEOPLE GET IT! they are the best!

This is such a fantastic idea that I wonder why no one thought of it sooner: A 2-night-stand concert series at the famed 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia -- high school prom style.
As My Morning Jacket wrote about the event when it was announced, "The first time we walked thru those hallowed 40 Watt doors we said to ourselves, 'this place looks perfect for a prom!' And now the dream will be a reality. The theme is a futuristic/retro under the sea vibe - costumes (tuxes, suits, robots, mermaid and lobster costumes, anything prom/ocean related) are not only encouraged - they are MANDATORY!!! NO ONE will be admitted without proper attire!** There will be cake, balloons, fishnets, classic cars, chaperones, spankings, and a whole lotta shakin goin on - 2007 style upin this bitch ya'll."
Think of all the wonderful garb you could bust out of the closet for a night like this, and surely have waaay more fun than your own prom, with a fraction of the heavy petting.

For the first night of its March 6-7 "Prom" at Athens' 40 Watt Club, My Morning Jacket donned some new evening jackets—pastel-colored ones, with matching pants, ruffled shirts and, in keyboardist Bo Koster's case, a top hat. Oh, and at least for the first few songs, silver plastic pompadour wigs.
Opening with a note-perfect cover of The Dells' 1956 doo-wop hit "Oh, What A Night"—basically the title track for the two-night stand, dubbed Oh What A Night Under The Sea—the Jacket performed a set heavy on tracks from their latest studio recording Z before a tightly packed room, most dressed in either prom kitsch (poofy-shouldered dresses, '70s-style tux T-shirts) or nautical attire (two spot-on Captains sans Tennilles, one behind the bar).
Everything about the unusual show screamed "event," from the boisterous, capacity weeknight crowd to the faces in it: Patterson Hood of the Drive-By Truckers, Boston band Apollo Sunshine, which had just visited Paste's offices earlier in the day, and R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, Peter Buck and touring member/Minus 5 frontman Scott McCaughey. (McCaughey explained that R.E.M. had convened in Athens to rehearse for the upcoming Rock Hall of Fame induction.)
At the encore, Jacket frontman Jim James crowned a prom king and queen and had them dance onstage to a deadpan reading of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight," with lyrics altered to sound more like a high school backseat fumble. Then the band uncorked King Harvest's obscure (but spot-on) 1973 hit "Dancing In The Moonlight" before powering through three more originals and calling it a night just past 1:30 a.m.
If only our actual prom night had been this wonderful, we might actually have signed up for a Classmates.com account.

This girl used two of my pictures without credit and copy and pasted her entire blog, she suck brown stars in my book. I'm not a credit hog but come on, she's just duplicating things on the internet and seemingly taking credit, or worse yet, eluding that my photographs belong to someone else.
Shit that's not cool! Have you contacted her Kory?
Yea, I made a comment on her blog and she edited it and tried to play it off. It turned out to be quite fun, haha!

during those denver shows i saw some direct lifts from my show review/notes in another person's blog. i was a little cheesed that someone was taking credit for my (pretty distinct) phrasing, but, whatareyougonnado? ::)
Anyone listen to the tapings yet? I listened to all the covers, Crimson & Clover is my fave. I would've been in such disbelief and amazement if i was there for that.

7 years ago yesterday and today!
I've kept every concert ticket and assorted ephemera from every show I've ever been to in a scrapbook. I'm up to like 5 books now and they've all been scanned so I've been posting my concert history a day at a time on Facebook this year.
Yesterday and today were devoted to re-living the Prom shows (I only made it to night one, but wow!), so I thought I'd bump this topic and see who's here now that made it to either of these shows.
The dream of seeing them in a place this small again seems unattainable at this point, ut this one I'll never forget.
ellis, thank you for bumping this! hard to believe it was seven years ago. i just read a bunch of posts that brought these shows right back. somehow i lost track of the recordings of these shows. for years i've been pining to hear that King Harvest cover again.
at the end of my set-list post from night 2 i commented that i had to drive straight to the airport. i remember that so well. after the show packing, showering and driving overnight to Atlanta to catch an early flight. the whole drive i listened to CDs of the Salt Lake City show given to me during the 40 Watt show by Steely B.
i'd forgotten how lovely and decorated the venue was.
kory and i were just reminiscing that we met at these shows.
nice gift, this thread. thanks again, ellis
I may have the recordings for this show Ms Y, and I know Kory does. I'll check this weekend.
thanks fully! you're a pal!
I have the two shows, with each show comprised of 2 mp3 files, one for each set, so 2 files per show. Didn't have time to check quality.

Well thanks Yac! Now I don't have to go find them! Sorry, Ms Y I hadn't put them up before now. I've been on the go all weekend.
I saw you were busy, rockin' out to White Denim with forum royalty. When you get a chance, I'm curious if you have the same version of this show. I'm surprised that no one created tracks.
I did track them John. There are 2 versions of these shows. Archive has the audience, which in my opinion are not that good.
I have a the version from Kory which I don't know the source but sounds like a board or radio, converted to wave and burned on cd's. Pretty good sounding, imho.
The version I have and posted above sound pretty good. Clear vocals, deep bass, though some crowd noise. I would be interested in the tracked version, if you have time to send it my way or post a download link sometime, Mike.
So we probably have the same version. I'll convert and post for you guys when I get a chance.
fully, i didn't expect to see an upload this weekend! plus, you had shows!
i'll pull down those Yac links and keep an eye out for searchinbigs upload. i'm still only 2 shows into d/l the OBH shows.
i'd forgotten about the helmet hair pompadours the band was wearing. hilarious

ellis, thank you for bumping this! hard to believe it was seven years ago. i just read a bunch of posts that brought these shows right back. somehow i lost track of the recordings of these shows. for years i've been pining to hear that King Harvest cover again.
at the end of my set-list post from night 2 i commented that i had to drive straight to the airport. i remember that so well. after the show packing, showering and driving overnight to Atlanta to catch an early flight. the whole drive i listened to CDs of the Salt Lake City show given to me during the 40 Watt show by Steely B.
i'd forgotten how lovely and decorated the venue was.
kory and i were just reminiscing that we met at these shows.
nice gift, this thread. thanks again, ellis
you mean the SLC Depot 2007 show, ms. yvon?? I LOVE that recording. They Ran on that is magical. the 40 watt shows blew my mind when I first heard them and they still do...what an elegant, stoned out bunch of rock and roll shows. Hilarious from the Dumb and Dumber suits all down to Jim's plastic fake greaser hair....weird..
10 year bump!
These shows are on Archive, btw...

I believe these were taped by the Forum's very own sweatboard!
What an awesome event!!! I attended the second night 10 years ago today.
they were unbelievable shows, the version of The Dells Oh What A Night that opens Night I, still blows my mind apart. Those Carl and Bo harmonies? CHILLS!

yep! that run of winter 2006-2007 shows they played a lot from tennessee fire. they ran was in heavy rotation and i loved it! those were also the hey-day for the giant jam at the end of lay low. *sigh*
thanks, john! there is a bit from night one that kills me, "jim had a pink inflatable dolphin attached to his guitar" wut?

hahahahahahah LOVE these shows, especially The Dells cover, Bo and Carl are literally mercurial on backing vocal duty during that song, especially when Jim cranks it to the "thaaaaats whhyyyyyyyyyyy I love you soooo" they're all just soaring.
What this band does vocally is so underrated in the music world.
"Chuck! Chuck, it's Marvin. Your cousin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this!"
Nugs doesn't have the encore for night 1. Wtf
really??? after all this time these shows get released and no encore? why?? weird...
I asked the folks at nugs about the missing encore (only night 1 is missing the entire encore, btw). Their reply was:
QuoteWe heard back from the band and unfortunately the audio from the encore for that show is not available.
We are adding notes to the show page to reflect this.
(that's from https://forum.mymorningjacket.net/index.php?msg=401022)
So we'll just have to make do with all the other new shows they recently posted, and The Waterfall II. It's a real rough time.

ahaha weird well i bet the recorder got shut off or something hilarious like that but who cares we already have the audience, we love these shows as long as they had Oh What a Night that Dells opener I AM GOOD and they DO and SOUNDS UNREAL.
These shows are so beautiful...so glad they put them out. This is a summer of hell for our world, but the band has tried to help the fans get through the day x1,000,000 this has been unrivaled and unbelievable. THANK YOU MMJ!
Nugs is offering one year of streaming for $30. The deal expires on 11/8. I haven't listened to these shows yet but will soon. The video from the last three streams (Shaky Knees, Forecastle, and Red Rocks night 1 2019) are also up for viewing.

sorry got distracted when i found out "the jerk" is on cable...have now realized that late night comedy central also means lots of ads for 1-900 numbers. oy. full disclosure: the show ended at about 1:30 am and i'm pretty tuckered, so this will be brief.
before the show actually got to meet some of the forum peeps! rccola, kory, dennis and ...oh...man, i've forgotten his name! i only spent the whole night standing next to him. lame.
in the interest of getting this out there:
the opening band was Follow the Train. props to these 6 guys for taking the stage decked out in sea creature costumes! my favorite had to be the enormous starfish, followed closely by the lobster head on the drummer.
after Follow...the lights went down and the band came on...each of them sporting a tux of a different color and enormous silver plastic pompadours. 8-)
carl--orange
tt-tom--lt. blue
pat--red
bo--orange w/a top hat, no helmet hair. :)
jim--pink
the SET LIST!
Good Ol' Ms. Y, leaving no stone unturned and no Yow un-Yowed. What a timewarp.
