And MMJ is no where in sight...could my worst fears be true? Will they really not be playing this year?
they're not playing, dude. For reals. However, we are having a mmj tribute blowout the next weekend in cave city kentucky, so you could try to get your jacket fix there. It's gonna be a while before you see the real thing.
however, flight of the conchords IS playing.
at all costs, if you are at bonnaroo, see these men! [smiley=beer.gif]
i'm not going to lie...i am sort of relieved that they're not playing, but secretly. you see, a while ago i promised my girlfriend i'd go with her to her best friend's wedding. she's in it, i'm not, and i know no one so i get the priviledge of sitting there in strange solitude. yes this year's line up is awesome, but if mmj played i'd be in a huge moral/ethical dilemma.
anyway...you said its gonna be a while since i get my fix? is there something going on i don't know about? ARE THEY IN DANGER?
explain more of this after party. i'm all about weekend road trips and KY is only like a 6 hour drive. i keep a tent and a sleeping bag in my car at all times just incase of moments like this.

he meant that they will be writing and recording a new album so probably won't be touring much, if any...
can we not talk about that. it makes me sad. :-/
i'll be over here listening to the prom shows...
when I met Jim and Tommy out back of the 40 watt there was another couple there from Tennessee and they asked about Bonnaroo and Jim said "not this year"
Straight outta Jim's mouth, can't get a better answer than that.
i would have liked to see them at 'roo, but... be optimistic. if they're working on a new album, then that means... a new album. new songs to love. new album also means... tour to promote said album. new tour= shows. shows. shows. not just one show at 'roo, but shows.
ps: kory, i love the new avatar.
"you got a date, wednesday, baby!"
Ornette Coleman is playing. That's all that matters.
Kings of Leon are there, no?
But this Bonnaroo is going to be soooooo good. And Jim is doing some solo shows. And the band IS going to make a new record!
QuoteKings of Leon are there, no?
yes
i think bonnaroo should add hey girl! and clint morehead's daughters to the line up. what do you say brian??????????
As long as Hey Girl can get a night show. The strobe lights are an imperative part of our live show and they are much less effective in the daylight.
I'm not sure Tennessee can handle that much star power!
Your darn tootin!

From Wikipedia!:They will not perform at this year's Bonnaroo, to rest and record a new album. This was confirmed by the band's management, but is still being disputed by some of the band.
If they can do the now-crappy palooza, they can do bonnaroo. even if i can't make it, i want the rest of you all to be happy.
My biggest fear for Bonnaroo this year is not that My Morning Jacket won't be there, since I've already resigned myself to that, but the thought of a secret performance that I don't hear about in time. For instance, if they were to be the band at the Maquerade Ball, or if any of them were involved in the Superjam. I would die if they played and word didn't filter to me in time. I'm going to be very sneaky this year, listening to people's conversations trying to pick up on MMJ banter. Hehe.
i agree. i'm listening to the '06 set right now. its hard enough missing the lips and ween right now. to add my #1 favorite band to my #3 and #2 favorite bands would just mean a miserable summer.
i really can't see many other people doing superjam and i think mmj is the only band to span the old 'roo jam spirit and the new 'roo indie/ecclectic feel
so i was peepin the bonnaroo site today to look at set times and on Sat night there is a 12-3:00 slot that is TBD...
could it be MMJ? it must be, right? if not, people will have to settle with 3 hrs of STS9, not a bad gig.
that's the first thing i thought of when i saw that also. i'm not holding out too much hope though. i feel a bit cheated that they're playing lollapalooza and not the roo. it's just one state over and they'd be one of the few bands holdingdown the jams.
it only makes sense they would be playin the roo...that's gotta be their spot - it would be all too epic, and MMJ is nothing less than epic. they're gonna release new songs for everyone, it's their fest, it's their slot - who else could play 3 hrs that would fill that? Phil and Friends or some other shit jam band? String Cheese is already there, STS9 is there, WSP is there, Tea Leaf is there - the only band that is NOT there is MMJ.
that would make my summer just knowin they would rock that slot - unannounced.
