That's a list supposedly lifting off of a mocked up 2007 ACL Fest poster. Some of the names are confirmed, some of the names are in negotiation, some of the names are wishful thinking, some of the names are fantasy.
Also, the guy who books Lollapalooza, is booking ACL. And MMJ is already confirmed for Lolla.

yay bjork...her new album comes out tomorrow -
hope MMJ comes - i will be there if they are.
my morning jacket is in ladies and gents... here is the whole lineup. i think it's better than last year, but probably worse than 2005. http://www.aclfestival.com/lineup.aspx
tobias, awesome name.
as for the lineup, kind of a let down. always happy to have jacket but where do they dig up the rest of this junk? this is the most non diverse lineup i've ever seen.
HELLS YEAH!
I find it interesting that MMJ got the biggest font on the ACL website.
For the love of god! Aftershow! PLEASE!
Non-diverse lineup? I don't know but I think having Dylan and Queens of the Stone Age on the same bill qualifies as a little diverse?
Yeah, I'm going to have to put my two cents in and say that it's a pretty f-in diverse line-up.. Bjork? I mean Christ, that could make any line-up diverse..
I think it's one of the best, by far, and I'm pumped about it...
Not to beat a dead horse.. but.. Bonnaroo? Just timing? Or what?
QuoteDylan and Queens of the Stone Age
i'd like to see more soul, hip hop, and rap acts. i can't count dylan and queens of the stone age as diverse because i would consider them both to be rock acts. i mean hell, i'm still going to the festival, because it's what you do here, but for me personally, i guess i always think it's going to be a little more like coachella or lollapalooza, but i know it's something totally different.
it will be a fun show. i said that comment before because i was taking some misplaced anger out on a festival. but i ain't taking it back. After all, criticism is the only way something like the Festival has become as large and healthy as it is.
I have never been to ACL. What type of set length are we talking about for MMJ? 10 songs?
The National, Andrew Bird, MMJ, LCD Soundsystem, Bob Dylan, Spoon, Wilco, White Stripes...this will not disappoint. :)
QuoteI have never been to ACL. What type of set length are we talking about for MMJ? 10 songs?
45 minutes to 1 hour....
Unless they are one of 6 or so "headliners", then they may get up to an hour and a half.

Charles Attal, a wonderful young man from Austin, booked both Lolla and ACL. He has said several times that MMJ has been his favorite band for a while now. I would not be at all surprised if they were on of the headliners.
The best thing about ACL Fest is leaving the festival, walking across the street to Barton Springs and jumping into 65 degree water, hearing the music in the background, and then heading back to the festival.
ticket purchased! woo!
this will be my first time at ACL. will likely have to miss friday due to work. we'll see just who is playing that day. :D
and this line up is fantastic!! my three biggest binge acts of the last couple of years will be there. for the love of pete, i hope they aren't playing at the same time...
(for the record: mmj, wilco, andrew bird)
i have questions that need answers:
1. how much does this festival cost? is it a pay/day situation?
2. what are the dates?
3. can you walk there from the cakey/mantooth abode?
these are only questions and they are only for informational purposes for inquiring minds who have questions.
thank you.

hey i can answer these.
1. 3 day pass is 145 right now i believe. they do come out with 1 day passes later after the schedule is announced, i think.
2. sep 14-16
3. we can definitely walk. in fact, when the rolling stones played at zilker park we sat in lawn chairs in the backyard with a fire and some hot choc and just listened. the walk will be hot, but it's doable

i am working really hard on the merc poi. i had sushi tonight, in fact. the thing i realized though, do i really want merc poi because then i might have to cancel a flight.....
GOOD POINTZZ!
i would say get merc poi btwn the end of jul & aug. prob best.
It looks like 3 day passes are gone, and like I said to me this festival is not worth it unless you are able to come and leave as you please (Barton Springs). There is no re-entry with 1 day tickets.
BUT! It is extremely easy to pick up 3 day passes and 1 day tickets in the weeks leading up to this festival. They is always a hyper demand early with a massive sell off before the festival. Most likely you can pick up tickets for less then face if you look hard enough or know people.
Single day tickets and the festival schedule go up on June 19th.
ACL FEST (http://www.aclfestival.com/default.aspx)
So I caved and bought a single ticket for Sunday. Crappy luck that Arcade Fire are up against White Stripes on Saturday; and also (really sorry Ms. Yvon) that Wilco is up against MMJ! And why do Wilco get 15 more stage minutes?!?!? WTF?
Sunday is crazy good.
Unfortunately it's not bad luck that on Saturday the Arcade Fire and The White Stripes are up against each other and then Wilco and MMJ on Sunday. It's to keep 70,000 people from trying to be at the same stage at the same time. I think they could have done a better job of not ripping out the hearts of fans of the same bands.
Sucks, I've never seen Wilco, but would hate to miss MMJ.
Sunday, Sept 16th
Yo La Tengo -->
The National/ STS9 -->
Ben Kweller -->
Devotchka -->
Bloc Party -->
Regina Spektor -->
Wilco/MMJ -->
Reverand Horton Heat/Ghostland Observatory/The Decemberists -->
Bob Dylan
That's just plain crazy!
ok that is seriously ridiculous business.
gah.
gah gah gah.
dear universe,
let's figure this business out, please.
thanks,
ec
Spoon? Or did you eat some bad meat?
;D
neither, although i do like spoon.
i just want it all to work out so i can come is all. :)

i was upset enough about mmj and wilco at the same time along with the white stripes and the arcade fire that i sent the aclfestival website a complaint. immature i know, but i can't believe those scheduling conflicts, i don't know what shows i'll be going to
what do you guys think the chances of an aftershow are? probably pretty slim now that they're so big right? they didn't play one at lolla or past acl's as far as i know. i'm crossing my fingers though, cuz i don't have $80.
feels silly to travel around the country to see them, but then not see em in my own town. i'm not big on festivals though. after seeing em so close, being hundreds of people back, in the heat, just ain't worth $80.
I think you can pick up a 3 day pass for not much more than 80 buck on the days leadigng up to and on the days of the festival. It's just been that way.
I don't remember which band led me to this, but I noticed that at Red Rocks near Denver, that they have a festival the very same weekend, http://www.monolithfestival.com (http://www.monolithfestival.com).
Doesn't seem really smart since ACL is one of the bigger Festivals, but ACl does have a lot to improve on in terms of weather and logistics, imo.
Don't know much about the undercard, lotta names I haven't heard of. Only big names not playing ACL are Flaming Lips and Kings of Leon (both played last year).
Quotei was upset enough about mmj and wilco at the same time ... that i sent the aclfestival website a complaint.
when i saw this on the ACL schedule my first thought was "whose ass do i have to kick?" at least andrew bird is playing saturday. christ.
in addition to wilco and MMJ playing at the same time, Patterson Hood from the Truckers is also playing at that time.
i was just going to go for 1 day, but when i saw that i was so mad that i cursed and turned off the computer. no ACL for me this year, unless 3 day tix go for really really cheap on Craigslist the week before.
I believe I will be attending this monumental event.
holy crap!!
Questions about ACL:
OK, so the 3-day passes are sold out.
The single day Saturday is sold out.
There are currently only single day Friday and Sunday passes online.
Does this thing usually sell out?
Do they release anymore 3-day passes closer to the show?
I'm not entirely sure my TX schedule yet, so I'm a bit resistant to buy Friday and Sunday (I'm DEFINITELY going to Sunday), but then I don't want to be in Austin for a great festival and not get to go.
So I'm just checkin' to see how it normally goes down...
Shanks, Texans.

i can't remember if 3 day passes are offered up again after they are sold out. i think people resort to buying on ebay and stuff like that or resorting to scalpers. i would go ahead and get the single day passes because i figure sunday will def be the next day to go. we can work on finding a saturday somehow
Don't worry about tickets. Profiteers are hording them now. They will be a huge sell off near the weeks before the show.
Buy a 3 day pass, not a single day.
Tickets will be especially easy to get if you know anyone in Austin, who can pick them up for you.
Was checking if prices had dropped on craigs list.
Somebody was kind enough to post that they had released more 3 day passes. So for now you can pick those up for face value.
I picked up 2.

question about after parties: are these separate from the festival? ie, if we don't go to the festival on saturday, can we still go to after party shows?
shanks
It is separate....but ACL does list the major shows on their website.
http://www.aclfestival.com/aftershows/
I am so excited that Spoon is back on. Also going to see STS9, The White Stripes, and I do have tickets for Stephan Marley (which interferes with one of STS9's shows...but we will see what happens....).
Still waiting on the booking for Saturday at Stubbs...something has to happen!
cool, so, sorry to be obtuse, do we need to buy tickets to these after parties?
thanks,
ec
Honestly the good shows have long been sold out, but don't let that stop you.
