Title: MMJ now listed for Bridge School Benefit?
Post by: buymycar on Oct 18, 2007, 02:14 AM
Eddie Vedder was going to play the BSB with Flea and Jack Irons.

Ticketmaster now lists My Morning Jacket as playing both dates.

Wow, $146 with "artists subject to change"  That's quite a risk.

On I seperate note, I'm putting on a concert in my back yard.  Tickets are $300 each, but I have the following bands scheduled to perform.

Pearl Jam
My Morning Jacket
Tool
The Black Crowes
Pink Floyd (with Roger Waters)
Led Zeppelin reunion.
Bob Marley will rise from the dead.

*Performers subject to change

Pearl Jam and Neil Young play BSB every  year.  I wouldn't be suprised if Jim plays this year after touring with PJ and being such big Neil Young fans.  I'd like to see Jim, Eddie, and Neil get together on some songs or do a Monsters Of Folk style tour together.

ed is not playing...i believe mmj is taking his place on the bill. i go every year and was really looking forward to ed, flea, jack irons set, but oh well.  guess i'll have to be happy with mmj ;)
if any mmj fans want to go, check the pj boards.  i'm pretty sure you will be able to pick up tickets from some pissed-off pj fans.

I'll be long gone by the time they anounce that the only band playing will be my cousin Fred who is proficient on harmonica and washboard.  Come to think of it, I will move the location to a nice corn field down the road.

Wow.  I can't believe Eddie is not playing this year, I bet there are a bunch of pissed off PJ fans especially after being tempted with Flea and Jack Irons.

It is expensive but at least ALL of the money is going to a great cause.

Yes, a lot of pissed off PJ fans...  but it's good news for MMJ fans...

I am selling 2 tix in the lower section for the Saturday show for my cost, face +TM fees +ebay fees if anyone is interested.  All the money except for the fees goes/went to the Bridge School.  And once in, there will be plenty of empty seats so you can move up real close.
http://tinyurl.com/2c96mu

Good luck and enjoy!  I'm still going Sunday but don't need to spend this much money both days.

Featured artists for both days include:

Neil Young
Metallica
Jerry Lee Lewis
Eddie Vedder with Flea & Jack Irons
Tom Waits and Kronos Quartet
John Mayer
Tegan & Sara
Regina Spektor

I think I have to go...but damn those flights to Oakland/SF.  Used to be that I could get down there, roundtrip, for $125.  So far, the best I've seen for leaving on Friday night is $216.  I do have a commission check coming next week that would cover the costs...but I was hoping to pay a little off my credit card bill.  Damn....shit....I think I am going.  Must talk to the hubby and see if we can pull this off!

$35 for the lawn......not too bad.  Of course, with my thrashing dance moves, I am sure to fall down (that hill is freaking steep!).  But I have not been to Shoreline since '94 GD and I do love rolling down that hill after the show, once the crowd clears out (yes, I am still 8 years old in my mind  ;)).

I think we need to have an MMJ huddle someplace nearby Mountain View!!

Please let Southwest have tickets for me to use my SW $$$$

I can't wait to see the band Acoustic, how will the drums sounds.??

Are we sure it is the band?  and not just limited to Carl and Jim?
I was thinking last night that Jim and Carl were in Berkley and it was warm up for M. Ward and advertised as Jim.
So I am hopeful that this is the full band.
My thought is that the Bridge is an acoustic concert exclusively.

So is it the Full band??? or just Jim and Carl.  I am putting 300$ in to airfare and lawn tickets...........can not wait

according to wikipedia  as a practice not as a rule artists play acoustic instruments.  That should be interesting.  I hope they bust out some old school acoustic favorites like By My Car, The Bear, At Dawn, etc, etc.

somebody needs to tape this!

they are an all day sucker, notice the start times.  the sat show is at 5pm and will last way past 10pm.  there is local city limit, not sure it may be 11:00 pm.  It is for the noise factor as it is outdoors.
the Sunday show will start earlier, and thus end earlier.
Also, the bridge school students are always on stage behind the bands.  that is fun to see the kids rock out.  Neils sons' are alway there.  One has graduated and is growing  up nicely.  His wife is usually the master of ceremonies.

I have never stayed all the way thru, i like the opening acts as they will alway be great talent.  the later acts are great as acoustic it is hard to stay all the way thru.  You never know who will end up on stage. it is always a surprise.

I think i have to go.....I played The Tennessee Fire today and the first song on the 5 cd shuffle was By My Car.  And then I knew I had to go, because if they play that song......wow!  I am going to finalize my plane arrangements tonight.  Got couch space at my girl Katie's house.  If I do record....you may hear my girl shout a "Thank you", or an "You're amazing" every now and then.  Just how it is.....
Is theis MD big?  Easy to use?  I totally would take one for the team and do it......

I will let you know if I am going tonight after work Kory!

I'm going to hit the taper boards first, there's no reason to hassle yourself if someone else with a better rig is taping. I couldn't see shipping the stand so you'd have to clip them to something... i can understand how tapers (not me) say that you're there taping and not really paying alot of attention. It sort of ruins your time with constant worrying.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - October 16, 2007 -  Eddie Vedder's performances with Jack Irons and Flea at next week's Bridge School Benefit concerts have unfortunately been canceled due to a personal family matter with one of the band's members. The band apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

My Morning Jacket has just announced that they will now be performing at both Bridge School Benefit concerts at Shoreline Amphitheatre. My Morning Jacket is a critically acclaimed five piece band from Louisville, KY, known for their electrifying live performances. A series of incredible concerts in late 2006, capped by a New Years Eve show at the legendary Fillmore marked My Morning Jacket's last Bay Area performances.

yep Liz, my mics clip nicely to the sides of a brim of a baseball cap or a cowboy hat for that matter. the cord is long enough to hit record, hit the hold button (so's you don't accidentally hit a button) and slip it in your pocket for 74 minutes at a time.
If it comes down to it, I can record myself using it (controls and all) and send you the video and the mics/MD recorder and charger along with some blanks. It's your call though, I wouldn't want it to spoil your time worrying about it. You'd be the hero though...

Thanks for the tip Vespachick.....I have decided to invest in killer seats for Saturday and skip Sunday.  One of my friends in SF has gone to many Bridge School Benefits and her opinion was that it is a long day.  I am at her mercy getting to Shoreline, so I am going to hope that Saturday is some good stuff.  So I am doing the quick flight in on Saturday, go to the show, come back to SF and hang out in one of my favorite cities for the day, then leave Sunday evening.

bleh.  I just can't justify the cost of this trip.  I'm gonna have to stay at home and weep instead. All this vinyl I've been buying lately has really put a dent in my mad money.  I gotta save my pennies for my T'day trip to Louisville and the Bourbon Trail (hic). Plus, I'm my dad's date for his seasons tix to The Ducks and they are playing USC this Saturday, so I guess that will have to keep me entertained this weekend.

You girls have a good time and bring back lots of stories!

And I am soooooooo hoping for some Tennessee Fire love ::) ::) ::)
Everything on that album is built for an acoustic set (personally, I am pulling for a By My Car &/or Evelyn is Not Real).

I am going to purchase tix tonight and I am aiming for section 204 as well!  I will let you know where I land!

I am so excited!!

Quotelisa, wizzard!  glad to see you'll both be there!  i've got a ticket for saturday (sect 204, row v).
i got a res'd seat b/c i'm going alone, but lisa, if i find you before mmj's set, i might just dance near you.
SEE YOU THERE!   [smiley=beer.gif] [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Hi there Yvon, I am gettin' out of the San Diego fires and into the MMJ frying pan!!
I fly out of here on Friday and ready to get there about 4 pm on Sat.  If they are confirmed for third in the line up we can meet up at the bar.

Regina Specktor is fantastic I saw here in SF this summer.

I am torn with the fact that we have been in the front rows at The Fillmore for New Year Eve and at the Greek in Berkley and now I am waaaay back on the lawn.
Our band is moving on up to the big time and we have to share them.  Oh it is the good and the bad.....I am glad I can be there and they are doing it at the Bridge.  Neil Young knows to pick the fine young talent and the boys are on their way....

That was my thought exactly! To go from front row and practically touching Jim to being all the way in the back?.....Oh well, it is still a pleasant surprise that we get to see them at all this fall. See you guys at the bar!

AAAHHHHHHH!!!! I haven't been logging into this Forum much lately, actually heard about MMJ's addition to the Bridge School lineup via a friend. This just made my month!

First of all, the Bridge School Benefit is always a great time. I've been to several of them in the past, and the lineups are always amazing. Collectively, over the years I've seen Paul McCartney, CSNY, Metallica, Sonic Youth, Ben Harper, Lou Reed, and dozens of others. I bought tickets the day they went on sale, got killer seats, and was already very excited to see the show...but now My Morning Jacket slide on in!! Unbelievable!!!

This could be a great showcase for a new song or two, and if they step into the Crazy Horse role (which is a perfect fit) and play anything with Neil Young, Shoreline is going to go f**king nuts.

I would like to see if anyone wants to meet up before the show on Saturday.
We would have to be there when the doors open.
Lets' meet at the Phil Graham bar in the front.
I think MMJ may be the opener?  any info on when they will play?

My Morning Jacket
Tegan & Sara
Regina Spektor

I think that if they open the show at 5pm let's try at 4:00 pm.

Let me know.  Luv Dawg

Does anyone think they could play Going to Acapulco, the song they made for the Dylan movie. If they did, this would right everything that is wrong in my life right now.

Seriously I can't stop listening to it.

They just might warm it up for the "I'm not There" show next week.  I wouldn't be suprised.

A Hollywood Babylon however is probably out of the question. :)

Have these performances (Bridge School) ever been taped in the past?  I would love to hear what a "full band" acoustic set sounds like from MMJ.   I mean, is Two Tone going to have a stand up bass?  Is Bo going to be on piano?  I am intrigued to say the least.

Every single PJ performance has been taped.  I don't think they allow recording, so I think the tapers have to be pretty stealth about it.

I believe the order on the Bridge school site is accurate.  I have been told that MMJ is #3 on the lineup..........  Looking at it from bottom to top, it makes sense that the order listed will be the order played.  I will look for you at the bar, if time allows.  I am at the mercy of my 2 friends wishes on when to get to the show.  I hope to meet you though!   And I am so excited to go!

Travel safe!
