Choice!  Into the Woods accoustic.  Very jealous.  I know its not real popular but it was the first Z tune I really loved.  The melody is a hammer.  I guess you youngsters cant stand a waltz beat.

Where did he go anyway?

I love the acoustic Into The Woods as well.  It made me appreciate the album track.  I think I have it on a Seattle Solo show from '05

OK the dork in me can't help but pass along some setlist nuggets again thru the Sandy Eggo show.   So far they have played 24 nights and the following is what they have not played from the big four albums.

Z

ISM
One In The Same

AD
Death Is The Easy Way
Just Becuase I Do
If It Smashes Down
Strangulation

TF
If All Else Fails
Evelyn Is Not Real
War Begun
I Will Be There When You Die

That only leaves 9 songs that havn't been played from the big 4!  And we still might get a War Begun, Strangulation or an Evelyn maybe?  From ep's and rarities they have also played, Tonight I Want To Celebrate With You, Sooner, Cobra, Sweetheart and O Is The One.   Plus the 5 covers from NYE.

All together they have done 51 different songs.  (46 Originals and 5 covers)

Here is the kicker for you lucky bastards in the land of sunshine, wine and water.  If you happen to make it to all three nights at the Filmore, you got to see 43 of the originals plus, obviously, all 5 of the covers.  The only thing that the rest of the world got that you didn't was Sweetheart (Dallas Night #2 only), Tonight I Want 2 Celebrate and Just One Thing.

Braggin' Rights is now as follows.

Dallas Night #2
Sweetheart

San Fran Night #1
Into The Woods
Picture Of You

San Fran Night #2
Masterplan
It's About Twilight Now

San Fran NYE
Cobra
5 covers

So in other words, we need San Fran tapers from Nights 1 & 2!!!!!!!!

You don't deserve great weather all year long and 10 exclusive songs. >:(     ;)

Because of the three radio broadcasts, we will have good board quality recordings of 28 of the 46 originals and the 5 covers.  (Philly-NYE-San Diego)The rest will have to be pieced together from the archive and all you wonderful tapers out there.

Finally, so far they have opened with It Beats 4U eight times, OBH seven times, At Dawn three times, The Bear, Nashville to KY, The Dark, Anytime, Into the Woods and one unknown (New Orleans)

8 shows to go!  I want One In The Same.  How 'bout you!

That is spectacular.  Thanks Dave.

The ones that they REALLY haven't played in a LONG time are.....

If It Smashes Down
If All Else Fails
War Begun (This is going to make a return soon and when it does I am very certain that it's going to be mind blowing)

Hi,
First post here. Anaheim show was awesome! I got the setlist from the soundboard guy at the show. The Chief had all the songs but the middle is a little different order.  Here it is as typed on the paper....

IT BEATS
GIDEON
WAY HE SINGS
WONDERFUL MAN
OFF THE RECORD
GOLDEN
BEAR
HEARTBREAKIN
WORDLESS
LAY LOW
O IS THE
DONDANTE
PHONE
ONE BIG
----------------------
TONIGHT
OXEN
I WILL SING
ANYTIME
RUN THRU

Also, I was one of the radio winners who got to go to sound check. They played 3 songs. Jim James asked for requests and said if we asked for covers he was going to have to kill us.  ;) He later said he was only kidding but said fans always yell for covers like Rocket Man and one other I can't remember.  Songs that were relative to the time when they did them.  He said they probably only did the songs once but people still yell for them.

So, the requests at sound check... First one was Strangulation. Can't remember the second one, sorry. :(  Third was Off the Record. I hope that helps.

I know there was a sixth song at the Wiltern.  That encore was amazing.  I thought it was so cool the guys from Elvis Perkins band came on and played a horn section of alto sax, clarinet and trombone.  During the encore, Jim slipped on someone spilled cocktail and nearly fell on his ass, but he recovered quickly and hardly missed a beat.  It was so nice to hear Dancefloors.

Here's every song they played in Seattle (8 Jan 07). The first four are in order, then it gets kind of blurry. I put a star next to the encore:

It Beats 4 U
Gideon
What a Wonderful Man
Wordless Chorus
(out of order from here on)
Phone Went West
One Big Holiday
Lay Low
Golden
Off the Record
Cobra
Dondante
Lowdown
Run Thru
They Ran
I Needed It Most (Jim solo) *
Nashville to Kentucky *
Steam Engine *
Mahgeetah *
Anytime *

I hope someone can put these in the right order! Sorry...

QuoteOK the dork in me can't help but pass along some setlist nuggets again thru the Sandy Eggo show.   So far they have played 24 nights and the following is what they have not played from the big four albums.

Just to update you, In October 2006 in the land of sunshine, wine and water San Francisco,  Jim performed at the Palace of Fine Arts and did Tonight I want 2 Celibrate on the Ominchord.

Love to the band, please get some well deserved rest.  Happy New Year!!!

Quick note.  The intro music for the March 7th show was "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid soundtrack.  Thought you may want to include that.   My friends were laughing at me because I knew all the words (I have a younger brother and sister okay?!)

a couple of notes for those who like to follow how the song evolve : It Beats 4 U at red rocks had a new (at least to me) guitar solo by carl at the end instead of whistlin / singing.  Jim didn't put his guitar on for laylow until the duelling guitar solo, may not have been the first time but it was pretty smooth.  Steam Engine had some added vocal "cooes" with some vocal decay effects.
