Title: I was thinking about the detroit show...

and having to score tickets, then simulateously there was thunder outside.  it's not raining or anything yet, but I think it's coming.  creepy.

Think the show will sell out fast?  I'll be ready come 10, but I'm not expecting a mad rush and I'm not worried that I won't get tickets.

I really wish they were playing some place else, like the Majestic.  I just hate the "security" people at the Fillmore.  They yell at people for the stupidest reasons then won't do anything when someone has a legitimate complaint.

Longtime lurker, first post. I have seen the band twice at St. Andrews (both awesome, I might add) and they weren't sold out either time. I got tix for the Fillmore show but I am really curious to see what the turnout will be. I would love to see it be sold out and have more people turned on to MMJ. I have been trying to spread the gospel for years!

yeah I set my alarm scored floor and went back to sleep, I just didn't want general on the upper balcony, not that it's even that bad there since its small and pretty.  I saw ween there back in october and the security there does totally blow.  if you're on the floor be prepared to not blaze.  I got kicked out of the fox theatre right next door for blazing at smashing pumpkins, then almost got kicked out of ween at the filmore, they have people scoping it out from the balcony for plooms of smoke I think.

I'm planning on making some really dank treats, eat a bunch pre-show and it should tie me over, hopefully get a lung full or two of a doob during the set :).  if you see a dude spazzing the fuck out up front, stop on by and say what up haha.

M. Ward opened up for my first MMJ show in 2004 at St. Andrews and my life changed that day!

I kicked myself in the ass when I moved out here ( Chicago area )
in 2005. Having just found MMJ then, and finding out that had been
playing my favorite venue for the prior 2-3 years....I was crushed.

I miss St. Andrews...alot...haven't been there since fall of 2004. Had
been going to shows there since 94. That and the shelter.....did they ever play downstairs?

that'd be fucking crazy to see them play the shelter.  I only saw one show at the shelter and it was some chill acoustic stuff.  upstairs was house music dance party night though unfortunately so the thump was bleeding through the floor hahah bummed out the guys playing haha.

st. andrews is great, I only got to seem them in I think 05 when kathleen edwards(sp?) opened.  m ward opening for them at st. andrews sounds fucking ridiculous though.

Despite being from Michigan, both times I've seen them were the last two times they played in Chicago.  So I'm excited that I can finally see them and not have a 4-5 hour drive home afterwards.

I have seen so many rockin shows at St. Andrews. It's like this hidden gem of a place. When it's packed, the floor will literally move up and down and it's kind of disturbing. I went to a Queens of the Stone Age show there, and it felt like we were about to crash through to the basement! It's an odd sensation for sure.

I'm actually making the road trip to Chi-town for Oct. 10th. I missed seeing the band last year, so I am gonna make up for it this time around. I gotta be back in MI to work the next day so it's going to be a quick trip unfortunately, but when you're dedicated - you're dedicated, or somewhat crazy, I guess!!

I am excited to see the show at the Chicago Theatre, I have read nothing but good things about it from the boards.

hope you all have a fun time at all the shows.  when I was in 10th grade I went to see the alkaline trio not knowing anything about them or what was up, my friends had free tickets so we all went.  there was like 8 of us.  it was crazy, they had it BLASTING and people moshing and whatever.  I kept jumping out from behind this one dude and pushing all these people then hiding back behind my friend dean. haha it was pretty funny.  that was the first and only place I've ever crowd surfed at also.
also the first time I left a show and my ears were still ringing the next morning.  fun times.  I can't fuckin wait

I once went to a show at The Shelter and upstairs were some bands playing an off-date on Ozzfest and they opened up the stairs and let people go to both shows.  Not bad, $7 for like 7 bands.

Fillmore's a good theatre.  I can't recall how high the stage is, but anythings better than the Majestic stage- it's like five feet off the ground.

haha yeah fuck the majestic.  I hate that place, over priced everything and just a sub-par atmosphere.  my friends car got broke into during a show we were at there and they stole his CD player, CDs, etc.  fuuuck the majestic.  my old band was going to play new years eve there but then our drummer flaked, oh well haha.  it'd be cool to see them at meadow brook(sp?) kinda.  tiny and outside.  sound was good when I saw the flecktones there.  DTE is too big and kind of shitty.  did you guys know the only reason radiohead doesn't play michigan is because of DTE's fucking advertisers?  they won't cover the advertisements so they wont' play michigan, how fucking ridiculous is that?  haha glad mmj aren't elitist rock stars.

ps I love radiohead

Given my hatred of the Fillmore and a lack of a bad experience at the Majestic, I'd rather they played there.  Though I do agree that its in a lousy part of town.  However, Harpos is much worse and the stage is something like 8 feet off the ground.  If you're in the front, you have to look straight up to see anything.

Or they could just play in Grand Rapids...

Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac wouldn't be bad as well....

And if the day ever came when MMJ would play Harpos, something
will have gone terribly wrong. Last show I seen at Harpo's was Slayer........and no matter who you see there, when you go to the bathroom you'd best expect urine up to your ankles

my 1st post really excited for the show. got my tickets last night and they say an evening with my morning jacket. is the whole tour an evening with? also was at the st andy's shows and they were great. i agree that it would be better if they played the majestic but the state should be a great show.

I had totally forgotten about Clutch Cargo's.  I haven't been there in a good 3-4 years.

Ha!  Harpos...  I saw Slayer there in 2003 and it was so loud that it just sounded like feedback.  Thank god for earplugs or else I would have been throughly disappointed.  Oh wait, my car got broken into that night...   :-/  I can safely say that MMJ will NEVER play at Harpos.

The My Morning Jacket Wilco show at meadowbrook was a great show. i remember mmj playing mainly acoustic. as for clutch cargos i saw the flaming lips there recently and had forgotten how horrible the sound is. definitly glad they are not playing at clutch.

The last time I was at Clutch Cargo's I saw Coheed and Cambria and it was so packed by the time we got there (which was during the opening band) that we never actually got to see much of the stage.  It was filled with young teenagers who only knew A Favor House Atlantic and their parents, which was a strange experience.  I remember it sounded awesome though.  Coheed was one of my favorite bands at the time though so my memory could be remembering incorrectly.

I've never had a problem with the Staff there, its the venue, the crowd, and the area in general that I don't like.  Then again, the only time a homeless person ever threatened me was never the Fillmore...

I was about 10 rows back for that show (2005), yelling and clapping like mad - I got the strangest looks. I felt like the only MMJ fan in the whole place! Both MMJ and Wilco tore it up that day!
