Title: Chicago Theatre 10/9 - 10/10
Post by: oceanbilly on May 15, 2008, 11:20 AM
Did you have any luck with the presale?

Got 4 for Friday, no such luck for Thursday.

Did anyone get LOGE seats?  That is easily my favorite place to watch a show at the CT and was wondering if any were released in the presale.

NYC > Red Rocks > Chicago!

I wish I had four Fridays, but I couldn't get through for Thursday or Friday.  Probably because a few assholes bought a bunch of extras.  Just sayin.

I had the password and still got frozen out...I couldn't get a single ticket for either night.  I just hope I have better luck tomorrow when the public sale starts.  :(

Hopefully, the general sale has some of the better seats.  Who knows.  Oh well.

Post by: Anu on May 15, 2008, 12:10 PM
I just kept trying. At it for 70 minutes. The most frustrating part was actually getting seats and then getting kicked out of line something like four times.

I will try again tomorrow.

I got 4 tickets for friday, I did not even try for the thursday nite show, The  password I used was " amazed".  I got booth seating section P, right behind the box seating. They look pretty awesome.  It took me about 8 times to get them. I think they shut it down. I tried to see if I could get 1 ticket best available and it said none available. VERY STOKED.

Yeah, I'm sure the brokers snatched em up.  I used the same p/w I used for RCMH (evilurges).

I ended up with extra b/c my friend was supposed to grab 4 Fridays and I was supposed to get 4 Thursdays.

He inadvertently bought 4 Thursdays instead of the Fridays.  Hence the quandry.

Just sayin.

I'm trying to get a single seat for each night and when I enter HCMMJ for the password it keeps coming up WE COULDN'T FIND TICKETS THAT MATCHED YOUR REQUEST.  Is it because I'm trying to buy a single seat?  I don't get it!  Do I just keep trying over and over again?  That seems ridiculous!  How quickly do you think these shows will "sell out" - although it seems like nothing ever truly, really sells out but who wants to hassle with a scalper or pay triple on Stub Hub or Craig's List?  Wow, I will be smokin 30 US dragstrip mad if I can't see MMJ in my own home town!  LAME!  Well, I guess it's back to TicketDISTASTER Butt-fukkers scammers to try again!.....just sayin... >:(  hrumph!

I'm quite sure there is A LOT of us in the same boat.  The Chicago pre-sales SOLD OUT very fast, and I very much doubt that they had more than a couple hundread tickets available.  I was kinda shocked that these tickets seemed to go quicker than even the 5 night passes for Wilco's Winter Residency pre-sale, but then again... there has been A LOT of hype surrounding these MMJ shows on XRT, even though they arent until October.  Which is bull to begin with, what the hell are we doing buying tickets for late October in May?? I was in the Chicago Theatre ticketing and Jam Productions Ticketing before 10:01am with nothing available.

Typically pre-sale tix are gone in the first 15 minutes, as they only release a minority of the tickets.  Perhaps someone's CC will be rejected later today and you'll sneak through.

I'd just be on it the second the go on-sale tomorrow and you should be fine.

These shows will sell out quickly (under 10 minutes?)/

Too many brokers in this town make their living this way unfortunately.

Good luck manana.  You'll get em.   ;)

BTW...it's BETTER that they are selling these in May than closer to the show.  This band is officially going to blow up this summer.  Come fall, everyone will be looking for tix.

We'll probably never see them in a smaller venue in Chicago from here on out.  Enjoy it now!

Ahhh....well, now I feel a LOT better!  WTF was I thinking?!?  trying to buy pre-sale tickets at 1:00 PM - what a dip-schat  :P  I'll try again tomorrow.  I hope MMJ continues to play in the smaller venues, but maybe you're right and by next year it will be the United Center....yucko!  :P

For people who didnt get tickets, presale is usually only about 2 percent of the tickets available..I doubt anyone will have trouble getting tickets tomorrow.

I've been thinking the same thing.  It's probably going to be much difficult from now on to be front row center for a MMJ show.  Great for the guys, but it sucks from the perspective of a fan.  I've seen them for free in the past; I've seen them front and center; I've seen them for $15.  I think those days are over.

Got two thursday tickets, but got shut out of friday tickets.  The thursday tickets are good seats, 3rd row Lodge seats.  Section 2L seats are CC.  There is a seating chart on ticketmaster if you need to now where your seats are.

and going friday with some fellow forum peeps.  Looking forward to October.   I hope everyone got good seats.  Now if I  can only pull off that Louisville show in august
( wife permitting  :) ).   Baby steps, I think if maybe I step up my domestics and stop dry humping her in the middle of the nite I might be able  to go.

I hate to be the "brag about seats" guy, but I'm so pumped I had to share this....

4 seats for Friday, PIT row CCC

Are these as amazing as they appear to be?  I've never been to the Chicago Theatre.  Anyone know if they are lower than the other seats (thus "pit"), or anything else about this section?  Thanks in advance.  My 4th MMJ show could very well be my fav.

That's the crazy thing -- I got em at around 10:30.  I had already got four crappy seats, and I was just messing around.  Probably tried 100 times while talking on the phone, got shitty seats over and over, and then all the sudden.....

I got so excited I almost lost them clicking the wrong shit.

how would floor 1L seats be (furthest left, Row A)? Still a decent view or is it real far off to the side? would i have been better off with mezzanine's?...any info??

either way, I heard this venue is sweet. My fave indoor ive ever been to is the 9:30 Club, and with that being about a 1000 capacity place and seeing a couple shows 10 ft from stage and center, its probably gonna be hard for the CT to top it, but im sure itll rock anyhow

The 9:30 Club is a TOTALLY different type of venue from The Chicago Theatre.  No comparison, really, except that they both host concerts.  The Chicago Theatre is on par with Radio City Music Hall, not a dark club like 9:30 Club or Black Cat.

We've got main floor both nights! Way to score on the pit tix!

MNFL4L, row H, seats 401-403 - Thursday
MNFL2R, row M, seats 218-220 - Friday

I got 2 extra tix in the balcony for Thursday if anyone needs tickets....PM Me please. Face value of course.

The question remains now is how the heck to we wait until Rocktober for the show! :)

I've been singing Evil Urges for days on end....

I got one dead center in the balcony, 4 back, late Friday afternoon for Thursday.
Would rather Friday but wtf.  Went to the box office at lunch and they had nothing good.
I completely forgot about the presale(s).

Never been anywhere but the main floor, I think this will be a good seat.

As fast as these went I wouldn't be surprised if they do Saturday.

understood, and I knew what kind of venue the CT was. Just came out to the midwest from Pittsburgh, and Ive seen shows in the Benedum Center in the 'Burgh which is very similar. Ive just heard its a great venue, and Im not sure if thats more for the aesthetics, or the acoustics if you get my drift. Im sure they have a lot of plays there, so does MMJ tone it down?!?

I was mostly just wondering about the view for my seats, which that pic finally gave me a good perspective, gracias..but shit, looks like the mezzanine's would been a better call than wide left on the floor..i feel like norwood after he blew that kick for the Bills, WIDE

I've seen both Neil Young and Jeff Beck at the Chicago Theater.  The sound is absolutely first rate.

Neil was during the unplugged days and Jeff Beck, well was Jeff Beck, LOUD!
The CT does both well, so I'd guess MMJ will sound great here.
