Honestly, NYE has never been that big of a thing for me. I saw Phish on NYE and that was very nice, but I know this will be so much better...

Honestly, NYE has never been that big of a thing for me.

New Year's Eve has always been such a bummer for me.  When I was young, my mom and her friend would hang out and she'd bring her son over to play with me and my brother.  We used to have so much fun putting on skits for our moms and banging pots and pans when the New Year came in.

Then, all of a sudden, it stopped one year.  And never was the same.  Years later, just out of high school, I found out that my NYE friend couldn't take what life had given him and decided to stop living.  That weighed heavily on me, but even more-so on NYE...every year.

I never "go out" because of the 'ameteur' aspect of it all, but every year I try to make it better.  Sometimes I try to lighten up and have no expectations.  Sometimes I over-do it and wind up slumped in the corner somewhere.  Mostly, I'm just disappointed with the people I am with.  And that there's no pay off.

This year, however, will be different.  This year, I get to go to where that cheap salsa is made and bring in the New Year with style...with a bang...with My Morning Jacket!  And I get to experiance it with people who have the same interests as I do...or at least one.

This will change my life...and I am damn sure looking forward to it!  :)
