Wow.
NYE here I come!!!
Unbelievable!!! I noticed Remnants and Look at You are the only EU songs not played. Might be a sign of where those two songs fall in the pecking order. Hope not, I'm wanting to see some live Remnants. Any word on how long this set was?
Holy shit, what a mammoth performance! Kicking self in ass for not scrounging up enough dough to make it down there. Hot damn!
No Remnants or War Begun
But WOW. What does this mean we can expect from the boys at Radio City?
holy shit.
Across 110th St. !!!!!
Midnight sharp until 4am, and the entire thing (with brief exceptions) in a steady rain--pouring sheets on and off of us and on the band and everyone soaked and smiling and dancing and basically silly euphoric.
The choice of early songs--Evil Urges, Off the Record, and Gideon really gave the show its completely concentrated beautifully catastrophic charisma--as if heaven had opened up to, as Jim said, give us its golden rain.
The choice choice of cover songs reinforced the super funky bias of the current Jacket mood and obviously pleased the soaked booty bumping faithful.
About 1:30am, Tommy, Bo, and Patrick jammed before the fiery finish to the first set. "One Big Holiday" captured the howling freak of nature force and poured it into our mouths to shout back at the band.
The light show and new backdrop are incredifuckingble.
Because of the rain, the crowd was tiny compared to Lips last year, like only a couple thousand hardcores at most, lots of people sleeping or in the cinema or at tent shows like Tiesto and Biscuits.
At the back of the field, a handful of darling dervishes stoked a steady boogie on sloppy slice of soggy grass.
Really, supremely, profoundly epic, effervescent, energized.
ok. if one sly and the family stone song has been played then LOOSE BOOTY should be no problem for new year's. but srsly, this set is tight.

wow, this is a Killer show.. LOVE IT!!!!
nastiness, jeff coffin???! fucking awesome, have they ever worked together before this?

I'd sacrifice a finger (and a good one too, Im talking middle or index) to hear Oh! Sweet Nothin' at Radio City. Shit, maybe even a thumb. I can just imagine the reverb in the chorus. Ohhhhh man...

i absolutely agree, i think i would just be a puddle on the floor if i heard that beautiful song start up
I'm kicking myself for not going to this! It's almost in my backyard and I'm not there!
:'(
Seriously, was the reverb present on the songs that have always used it as another instrument? that's my "Question of relevancy for the day."
Now back to the boob jokes!!!

I doubt they'll play it again at Radio City, but Im sure they'll pull a few rabbits outta their hat. Im not surprised at all that they played Tyrone, it goes well with some of the new stuff. Thats the same reason Ive been telling my friend for weeks that they're going to play Cobra next Friday. I can feel it in my bones...
Kirk on OBH? Across 110th Street? That's why I love this band...
Wow!!! Just wow!! :o :o :o
Wow...4hrs?!?. Let's hope the tapers didn't run out of "tape". 8-)
you think anyone even taped this in the downpour?
QuoteI'm kicking myself for not going to this! It's almost in my backyard and I'm not there!

I feel your pain. I live about 80 miles west of Nashville. I have been to Bonnaroo a few times just skipped this time. I am a big Pearl Jam fan and basically skipped it because I thought they would do like at Lollapalooza and do a bunch of greatest hits and call it a night...what are they doing? Breaking out the rarely played stuff and mixing it with the greatest hits. I shouldn't have even looked at the setlist of MMJ and PJ. Makes me sad sad sad.
My buddy Mark Lynn was planning on taping it. He taped Thunderdome a few years ago in the middle of "the shit". You can hear him scrambling to get in a portapotty at the very end of the last track from that show so that he could turn his gear off.
I also have to wonder if this will pop up on livebonnaroo.com. I figure the epic show from a couple of years ago never got released because it would have conflicted with "okonokos"... but there's really no reason NOT to release this one unless it just didn't get multi-tracked for some reason.

God i hope you're right!
I've heard some awesome tapes from Mark over the past few years...
How goes it Corey?
It's been a rough weekend. Long story. I just now got around to reading this. I thought they were playing on Saturday night for some reason.
oh fuck, that's awful. didja miss it, entirely or have to scramble with success... ?
Anyway, condolences on your trouble. I hope you made the best out of it.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics,Dasmond!
I wasn't at Bonnaroo, so I didn't ACTUALLY miss it. I just had the days mixed up in my head.
There was a death in my family, so everything has been kinda crazy the last few days.
I got this in a message from Mark this morning. I sent him a message telling him I wanted a full report when he gets home. This is what I got as a quick response:
epic man.got the whole thing in the rain. it was a herculean effort.return to thunderdome 2.took me until late yesterday to recover
------
AWESOME. I can't wait to hear it. I'm sure it'll be out there sometime next week after he gets home and has some recovery time. My guess is that he probably taped shitloads of bands.
holy god!! now im depressed i missed it :'(

Thanks for letting us know Corey!
Thanks Corey. Tell your friend Mark thanks. Cannot wait to hear this.
It was amazing!!! :D I'm still here, by the way.
My fingers are starting to lose that prune texture, but it was worth it. Motley Crue at 4AM!! My mind was just bent, I am a huge crue fan since I was in high school in the 80s. That was extra special for me. Please dear god sell this one on Live Bonnaroo.

I agree with that analysis but lets keep our fingers crossed. I hope a good audience tape comes out soon but as Jim said the other night, Electronics and Rain are not Friends!
I will say that the rain made it a bit of a bummer in terms of the crowd. It was pretty reduced due to the rain. But the vibe was so extra special that I would never have missed it in a million years. I only wish Phil and MMJ had switched nights. The weather for Phil was awesome and the place was packed. Jim was an absolute dancing fool with the cape, doing James Brown moves in a cape, he looked like the Vampire of Soul. Dear god I love this band.
Now only 5 days till NYC!!!!!! :D
that setlist is absolutely disgusting. oh man, sooooo good.
Great pictures! Thanks dasmond.
This one in particular.

SWEET JESUS.
!!!!!!!
so glad some of you got to be there! THUNDERDOME TWO! 4am!
i got a bit dizzy reading that set list.
man alive. :o :o :o
unreal.
I was barely able to finish the show. With a couple of songs remaining, I had to step out of the front of the crowd and get some water, air, food, and take a piss. After over four hours of head banging, singing, and dancing in near-sleet, I literally had hypothermia. No joke. Thank god I was able to make it the entire show without checking out. After the two plus mile walk back to camp, I was totally delirious. Nothing I said made any sense to anyone. But I remember everything.
I've never been rocked like that. Holy shit where to begin?
First of all, I got to hang out with a few fellow Jacketeers, which was insanely awesome. Ya'll know who you are - I love you guys. Honest love. There should be a really sexy photo surfacing around here, somewhere.
Second of all. The rain was chaos all over the stage. Carl had a pile of towels at his feet from frantically trying to keep his fret board and fingers dry. Crew members were scrambling to and fro and tossing blankets and towels on equipment. Carl's guitar(s) simply stopped working, on occasion. The omnichord was a casualty and was replaced with verbal beeps and bops from Mr. Jimmy James. All of this, and the music was fucking incredible. A lot of bands would have had to take a huge break to piece things together, but they just kept rocking.
Second of all. What the fuck, Patrick? That drum solo at the end of Steam Engine? Oh my god that was freaking awesome. Carl's guitar went kaput, leaving Patrick to buy time for the crew and just moby dick that motherfucker. Damn, son. I want to hear more random drum solos, now.
Third. The entire crowd seemed to sing along with the Evil Urges songs. Highly Suspicious was an amazing hit. Haha.
In closing, you are as dedicated to us as we are to you. God bless and thank you, My Morning Jacket. I may have straggled off into the cow pasture with hypothermia, but it was worth it - one of the best nights of my life.
Excellent summation Bradley!
Quotejust moby dick that motherfucker.
I have found my new tagline.
My jealousy of those who witnessed this spectacle is indescribable. It looks as if the Jacket is truly back, and I just hope they whip some of that shit out on Friday!
This is by far the best show I have ever seen, not just by MMJ, but by anyone. It was non-stop, outside of a short intermission, Jacket rocking. The rain was brilliant. I don't know why anyone would stay away because of the rain. With all that head-baning and dancing around, the rain kept me cool. My highlights were OBH, Tyrone (can't believe I saw this live), and Phone Went West. The entire band was really feeling it this night. I can't wait to see them in Lousiville in August. Does anyone know if they have ever played longer than 4 hours. This has got to be a Jacket record.
unreal show.
I hope everyone saw pearl jam as well they rocked the place to.
What a great weekend this was, cant wait till next year.
A completely unbelievable show, they just kept going. Each song was incredible, the energy, the lights, the rain, the crowd, everything added to the experience.
I got at the show over an hour early, was still back off the fence by about 10-15 people, but really had no one tall blocking my view of the stage, I had to piss after about 15 mins of being there, but I decided to hold it because it was filling up fast, even with 5 hours of having to go to the bathroom (which probably wasn't very good for me) it really didn't matter, because as long as they were playing I was dancing and going crazy not even thinking about it.
I can't wait for a boot to pop up, and hopefully Bonnaroo will release a high quality version.
One thing I will say about the festival is they need to get rid of the campsite way the fuck out in the middle of the woods that takes 25 mins to walk to with the entrance open (which it wasn't for thursday and most of friday) so the other time I had to walk back 40 mins, which actually was the case with the Jacket show because they close the entrance at 12 so the poor VIP people are not bothered.
Angry Ewok, what campsite were you at?
QuoteQuotejust moby dick that motherfucker.

GREAT SUMMATION, brad!
love the notes on the equipment situation and jim filling in for the omnichord! :D
sweet cracker sandwich. wotta night for you all!

so well said. [smiley=smiley.gif]
i was describing what i'd read about the b'roo set to my coworkers at lunch and i got to that head shaking, hand gesturing, beaming place where words just fail. i wish i'd had ms. p's quote on hand.
QuoteAngry Ewok, what campsite were you at?
Our pod was #8...
As far as tapers (I made sure to look) I saw two for sure. I was standing close to one guy and then saw another behind us on the other side. I hope they turn up soon.
Awesome show. During one of the covers I laughed out loud when Pat was keeping a steady beat and then Jim said something like "Let's get some bass with that shit!" ;D
I stumbled back to my tent to find it soaked form a nasty leak but damn what a night. The rain was epic, the set, the lights, and even my sore feet were epic.
Dance Floors and Easy Morning Rebel were incredible. I knew they'd play them the minute I saw the horns. This set made the whole trip worth it.
Agreed one and all.
It seemed that the rain would get harder during the song swells which made everything that much more awesome. I can't even remember how many times I've seen the Jacket since 2003, but that was one of the best performances by a long shot.
No "Lowdown" or "The Way That He Sings"?
:(
So I just got done soaking the Bonnarhea off of me, and I wanted to share my experience while it's still fresh. Forgive me for only scanning through the 5 pages. Sorry if you've read all of this already!
We went to the stage at 8:30pm (yeah, for a 12:00am show). Listened to a little metallica and watched their fireworks while we sat there. We were directly in front of Jim on the right side, about 10ft from the front rail. Perfect view. Rain began at 11:57pm. We're convinced Jim can control the weather. Not kidding. It seemed that the intensity of the rain was relative to the intensity of the songs. It was perfect. Jeff Coffin was/is the shit. They KILLED Tyrone. It was funny cause I'd just got done remarking to my friends that I was surprised there weren't more female fans, as Jim certainly knows how to speak to them.
I really wanted to hear remnants, oh well.
Librarian was incredible! Jim started singing and his acoustic fucked up and he played it on the lobster solo. As close as we were (about 25 feet from the right speakers), and because of how quiet everyone was, you could hear the raindrops through jim's mic. Unbelievable.
We lost our freaking minds (granted we had help) during Lay Low. All I remember from that whole song is purple, metal, yellow, strobing, dancing, and loud noises. One of the songs, Jim used this black ring on his hand, which had a blue laser on it. I guess it's like a wireless guitar effect modulation du-dad, because he would pull his hand away from the guitar and shake his fingers and the sound changed (a lot like a theramin).
Met the coolest couple from Lexington, KY named Dustin and Emily, our groups bonded for sure. That was awesome.
Shed a tear during "Thank You Too." Worth all $270, would have paid 10x that (actual funds notwithstanding). Easily the single greatest musical experience of my life. Saw a lot of cool shit this week, nothing comes close. It's fucking magic. I just want to hug them and say thank you. I've never liked chicken soup, but MMJ is the only nourishment this soul needs.
-Ian
P.S. I was so tempted before the show to shout "hey, any forum members out here?!" but I was with a girl I really like and I didn't want her to find out what a huge nerd I am...yet.

So glad you were there! Nice recap!
P.s. Any girl worth liking will understand your love of the jacket, and the draw of meeting like-minded folk! I am sure she is a winner though........and remember, there are girls out there who find music nerdiness very attractive. Probably the #2 hook for me when I met the husband 8-)

"My Morning Jacket were supposed to play from midnight to 3 a.m. last night, PopWatchers. Instead, they played until 4. In the pouring rain. For four hours. It was something I will never forget as long as I live. How good was the four-hour long show in the pouring rain? Well, first, it was pouring rain, and I didn't leave. My raincoat went from waterproof to water-indifferent, and I didn't leave. I had no food or potable water, and I didn't leave. And then the dude behind me whipped it out and PEED ON MY FOOT while trying to relieve himself into a bottle, and I DID NOT LEAVE. No, the My Morning Jacket four hour concert in the pouring rain was so good that a man peed on me, and neither one of us was willing to break the MMJ spell long enough to walk away from each other. We just stood there. Pee-er. Pee-ee. Together. Soaked in rain, pee, and wonder. THAT is how good last night's My Morning Jacket show was."
;D
Can we bring back the last famous pee incident? Where was that?
Quote;D
Can we bring back the last famous pee incident? Where was that?
last pee incident at an MMJ show was at the Avalon in Boston two or three years ago. i remember somebody in the audience started peeing on somebody during the set break and somehow jim found out and made a funny comment about it when he came back on stage.
I started listening to MMJ in my pre-Bonnaroo training only two weeks ago. I am absolutely enamoured with this music, and their 4 hour EPIC rain drenched performance is my very favorite memory of Bonnaroo.
Librarian is one of my favs from EU, and I believe this is how it started:
Jim sings...
Walk across the courtyard
Towards the library
This acoustic's fucked...
*stops playing guitar and says*
"This acoustic's fucked"
;D
I lost my fuckin marbles, and got to enjoy the opening seconds one more time.
And yes, new (and more hardcore) MMJ friends, Sweet Nuthin was like honey from heaven falling on us.
Also, from the shows I saw @ Roo, there was more glow sticks getting thrown around at MMJ than any other show, the lights were amazing, the vibe in the crowd was sooo groovy and lovey...this was the best romantic rock rave I'll ever see.
I can't imagine anything better than a midnight hour SOaking WEt TYrone at bonnaroo!

Sorry if I blocked any people's views behind me, but I had to keep the mics dry, and it was worth it ;) Jamming out to the recording now and it sounds great.

So when are you going to post a copy so we can all enjoy it?
Dude, an MP3 version of that would make me peanut-butter-puddin'-surprise my batman boxers right now.
I think if you upload the FLAC version of it and don't mind if people convert it to MP3, one of us could do it for you since you already put the time into recording and editing. I personally want the FLAC version for cd but will convert it to mp3 so it can be on the go with me, by the way how is the quality?
This would make for great listening on the train to NYC
Please MP3 this! get me through work today!

That is the most "rock-n-Roll" thing i may have ever heard. Does a body good!!!
The taper needs to perform his magic!! i can't think of a bootleg that i have been more excited about anticipating!!! Jeez!!! Pleez!!!
wow--just flew back this morning--exhausted..but that setlist was unbelievable but the MOST UNBELIEvABLE thing happened in guest camping on sat following the show--i MET THE WHOLE band..it was so awesome. pic of me and jim to follow- i was so nervous and sweaty and he was SOOOOOO nice. i normally don't get choked up around celebrities cuz i seem them a lot--but of course i had nothing intelligent to say (LOL oh well) too nervous to comment on the show or the RCMH show...but so what cuz in the same year, i met richard ashcroft AND jim james...so there's really no one else i care about meeting i guess. my 2 favorite songwriters of all time (post lennon/mccartney)
it was great to meet anu, ghosts on tv and angry ewok..we randomly found each other. pretty funny.
btw---overall raconteurs and levon were spectacular and pearl jam was pretty UNDERwhelming ----also widespread bringing robert randolph to jam was another highlight. once i get my paper done and sleep, i'll write more on bonnarooooooooo-----
If the flac files show up and there are no MP3 versions readily available. Download the FLAC FRONTEND program and "quick switch" it yourself. It's as easy as pie!!!

Nice to see you again my "TK" brotha'!
Well i have to say that MMJ probably played the best concert i will ever see in my entire life and my friend caught a drum stick from pat and gave it to me it is chillin in my room right now oh yea and an OLSEN twin was watching the show right next to me who knew she had good taste in music. 4 hours of bliss the covers were some of the best i have ever heard thanks MMJ
Mary Kate or Ashley?
Unbelievable show
Out of curiosity, what songs were cut from the set?
um...how do i listen?
i am clueless
You listen when one of the kind souls that taped this in the pouring rain finds the time to upload a torrent and posts it for everyone to hear.
Can't wait.
oh i get it , and thanks tapers-you are the best....
i saw some sort of code and was not sure if that was it
hee hee
like i said clueless!
xoxo!
much appreciated!
:)
this was my 3rd MMJ @ Roo experience and it quite possibly was the best. i got my introduction to the band at the epic 2004 Orig. Return to Thunderdome set and I have been hooked ever since. the 2006 late night show was one of the best nights of my life. I still get goosebumps when i listen to parts of the 2006 show (especially the Dondate). i went into the 2008 late night show without really knowing what to expect, maybe even low expectations b/c i did not think it would be possible to surpass the epic 2006 show. boy was I wrong. Friday night from midnight - 4 AM was possibly the best concert I have ever seen in my life, a night I will NEVER forget. i left Metallica after about 45 minutes to go get a good spot for MMJ, the over 2 hour wait was well worth. got a very decent spot about 20 feet in front of the soundboard (ptmoore I was not far from your red umbrella at all).
this band is simply clicking on all cylinders right now, just total domination. each member has such a definitve role in the band and the sound was so amazing at Roo that it was so easy to hear each member even with the pouring rain.
I was so excited to see all thew new songs live for the 1st time and they did not dissapoint. Evil Urges opener was incredible, possibly my favorite of the new tunes lives, just set the tone for the whole night. Highly Suspicious was so much fun live, full out dance party, i hope they start to extend the jam a little bit more. out of all the new tunes they played I was most suprised by the way 2 Halves sounded live, it was the 1 track that i really didn't love on EU but i think I have listened to that track about 15 times since Roo. the live debut of Touch Me Part 1 got me fired up, i am a big fan of that tune. kind of bummed that the Omnichord wasn't working for Touch Me Part 2, but JJ making the noises was hillarious (bee bop bop).
I couldn't have been happier with the cover selections, all the funk really meshes well with the current sound. JJ doing his best James Brown impersonation would have made The Godfather of Soul quite proud, he was dancing all over the stage. I could not stop singing Get Down On It all weekend. What you gonna do? Get your back up off the wall! I was literally jumping for joy when they started playing Oh Sweet Nuthin, one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time (possibly my #1 of all time). I love the way Phish covered it back on Halloween in 98 but MMJ just tore this song up live, took it to a new level. Home Sweet Home, is there possibly a better way to end the set?
the special guests were fun. OBH w/Kirk Hamett was just a lot of fun, Kirk was pretty hesitant throughout the song. not sure how well it will translate on tape but it was so much fun live. Zach Galifianakis was pretty funny but did more dancing then singing.
my highlights were: the resurfacing of Tyrone, I have wanted to see this song live for so long now (please bring back War Begun next!), the drum solo at the end of Steam Engine was incredible it really sucked that Carl was having such problems with his guitar though during Steam Engine, Phone Went West was great but I don't think they ever fully finished it, however my highlight of the entire show was 2 2-song combos. first the Easy Morning Rebel-Dancefloors combo and then the Dondante-Run Thru combo. both of those combos had me dancing like never before.
the best part about the night was that of my crew only 3 of us wound up at MMJ together. some people left b/c of the rain and the rest of my crew were off seeing other shows. so anyway of the 3 of us my one buddy Evan had never seen MMJ, me and my buddy Rudy have been telling Evan for years that he needs to see them live but he had never got around to it. his plan was to check out MMJ for about an hour and then go see some of the other late night shows. well he did not miss 1 minute of MMJ. the whole night he kept saying things like: "I should have listened to you and Rudy", "this is one of best concerts I have seen in years", "this band is fucking awesome". It really made me enjoy the moment even more. my other buddy Josh who has seen MMJ before all we had to do was look at each other after each song, no words had to be spoken it was just a magical magical night.
after the show we all immediately said it was easily the highlight of the weekend and that nothing would even come close to topping it and we were right. MMJ was easily the highlihgt of the whole weekend of incredible music. the pouring rain only made the show that much more fun, I never stopped dancing even though I could barely feel my calves. MMJ truly understands the greatness that is Bonnaroo and they always bring their A game. it is so refreshing to have a band like this in the music scene. they stand for everything that is right and good with music. thank you MMJ for single handly making my weekend so amazing.
is it Friday yet? Radio City can not come fast enough.
wonderful post!!
thanks!

How do you turn jealous feelings into something positive?
I wanna love you guys but I"M SO ENVIOUS!!!!
Nah, I love you guys anyway...

creamed my jeans 56 straight times!!!
I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!!!!!!!!
QuoteI will love anyone who makes this available so I can listen to it on the way to NYC for friday.
AMEN. Love you long time!
The show was fucking awesome! The music was fucking awesome! The setlist was fucking awesome! I'll remember different things from this show as long as I live. When I'm 94 and infested with Alzheimer's, I will remember this show. After getting back home and settling in (and fighting the miserable cold I have from the rain and the miserable sunburn on my forehead from the sun) I've read all the comments left so far. All of them are accurate and right and I love revisiting through someone else's eyes and ears. Some of the things that I remember are the little nuances that didn't necessarily involve the music, but the over-all mood during the show.
They seemed to want to be there as bad as we did. I felt sorry for Carl when he was having all of those technical difficulties when his board went out...but the band rallied around him and knocked it out of the park! When Bo was "off-duty" for the moment, he'd run back and get himself a beer. I felt sorry for Jim when the Omnichord wouldn't work...but he came back with some "boop---beep-boops" to help take it home. My favorite was during Cold Sweat when Jim said, "Do you want to give Patrick some? I said, do you want to give Patrick some?" And then he said, "I said, DO YOU WANT TO GIVE PATRICK SOME?!!!" Then Patrick solo'd for a couple of minutes and then Jim said, "ALRIGHT, let's bring in a little bass with that SHIIIIIT!" and Tommy chimed in. It was tough stuff. It was also very strange, and the people I was with didn't quite see it this way, but I swear that as soon as they took their set break after OBH with Kirk Hammett, the rain stopped, and remained stopped until just after they took the stage again. At which point it monsooned us until it was over. It was even stopped when we were walking back to the campsite.
I don't know if y'all are getting my vibe here or not, but it's kinda like the getting pee'd on guy, above...I had a camel pack and my "big shot" camera, both very heavy, under a poncho, keeping track of the setlist, while trying to keep it dry, and my buddy faints during Easy Morning Rebel (not in a "groupie" sort of way--more of a "I'm a rookie acting like a pro" kinda way). But I didn't let any of that bring me down because My Morning Jacket brought it, like it had never been brought-en. And they were on it. Their equipment didn't like the rain too much, but they put on one hell of a show. And they fucking rocked my fucking face off! And then rocked my fucking skull off!
It saddens me that I didn't meet anybody from the Forum, but like the other guy, I didn't want to be a dork to all the people who don't understand, but I didn't see a flag either. Also I was on the stage-left side of the audience and the pictures above looked like they were from Carl's side. Anyway, I regret not seeking people out (PennyLaneNYC) but I had a good time none-the-less and the people who were there know what I'm talking about. In fact, some of you who weren't there know what I'm talking about.
yeah i was a little edgy throughout the whole show cuz the rain was coming down HARD and you can see it raining straight into them. poor karl!! i kept thinking they were going to call it!
can't wait for Radio City, people!! (not to mention--all of you can start making NYE plans now;-)
love dog--i didn't see a flag either---i just happened to have run into people randomly...it was cool cuz i was by myself and it helped having a few people to share it with...
also, the cracker barrel (SP?) outside of manchester, monday morning it seemed like everyone leaving bonnaroo stopped there for breakfast. the waitress asked us what our favorite act was, we said MMJ of course, and she said 'you're the 10th table to tell me that!! everyone is saying that today!' that was a cool moment. i left a super big tip for that.
i can't come down--i was on the train this morning and i felt like i was still at the ROO. lol....i started bobbing and weaving to aluminum park on my mp3 player lol--i felt like that vegas commercial.

WOW........ absolutely incredible, I thought there was no way they were going to be able to top their '06 performance but what I saw friday night / early saturday morning has changed my life forevermore. They played the best set the farm has and will ever see. It was as if it was a religious experience. As my good friend said, "I have never seen a band control the weather before." I wanna know if they had rain machines or something, otherwise I now know who God's favourite band is. No words can accurately describe the mood that permeated throughout that show, everyone couldn't help but dance in the rain with smiles miles wide. On top of all that I had the great honour and pleasure to watch the show with DANIEL, it was great to see a show with a forum member and know that this guy is in on it!!!! He knows!!!!!! In between the songs, getting to hear his stories and tidbits about when the jacket were coming up in Louisville only made the concert that much more special for me!! Probably the best night I have ever had, all thanks to THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!

wow--that is awesome. sounds like you are over the moon right now. that's the jacket power.
alright, so we're waiting at bonnaroo for the show (which we've established was one of the greatest of our lives) and we're sucked in by this looping melody that sounds as if it were plucked from the big lebowski playing on the loudspeakers. does anyone know who this is? perfect waiting music for the jacket, i feel like i need to know it to fully grasp what i went through that night...
Seconded. I would really like to know what that loop was as well, we were all singing along, too bad I didn't meet any of you there, I was standing all by my lonesome self, but it actually was fun anyways.
I had almost just as much fun dancing before the show as I did at it. It is off The Darjeeling Limited soundtrack and you can listen to it here:

I've been pumping myself into overload all day for radio city by listening to the return to thunderdome part deux all day, what is the into music on the boot that is interrupted by patrick crashing his way into the start of evil urges and nearly 4 straight hours of music...
ive been racking what little of my brain that isnt devoted to mmj. it sounds like a big band re-versioning of a turntablists song i heard (or maybe this is the original and the other version ive heard is the change) either way, i think ive heard it in a car commercial or something....WHAT ISSSS IT??
I think it's from a Lexus commercial, too.
the name of the song playing at the beginning of the show is:
Title Music From Merchant Ivory's Film Bombay Talkie - Shankar Jaikishan
It's off The Darjeeling Limited soundtrack (great movie for those who have never seen it), I'm not sure about the posting rules on this board (mp3 wise) but if I am allowed to I can post a link to it. Let me know.
I wish you were right, since I'm also looking for the intro tune, but that's not the one. It's not on the Darjeeling ltd soundtrack, I'm afraid.
edit: sorry that's not the "intro" song I thought people were talking about the song leading up to the show, I would also like to know what that song was before EU.
also, does jim say return to terrordome? what an unfortunate mistake if he did
EDIT:
the original is "bird's lament (in memory of charlie parker)" by louis "moondog" hardin which is sampled in "Get a Move On" by Mr. Scruff

thanks to my littlest sister for telling me it's in a car commercial the millisecond i started playing it for her....refined my google search immensely
Does anyone remember which song they were playing wen Jim started doing the kicks? It was almost as epic as the Van Morrison kicks in the Last Waltz. I can't remember which song they were playing. Please help. :-/
Yeah I'm pretty sure that Jim said Terrordome, that's what it sounded like to me at the show, but its forgivable we all knew what he meant.
