This is a great venue. I went two years ago( I think it was two years ago) and saw Jim with M.Ward and Bright Eyes it was an amazing set. Gillian Welch sang with them too. It was incredible.
Hope for nice weather
...I really want to go to this so bad....I think I am going to Gathering of the Vibes in CT (a music festival on the same weekend)....is it worth it to skip that to go to Rhode Island to see one show as opposed to a whole weekend of music (with Phil Lesh, Black Crowes, Zappa Plays Zappa)....I am so torn on this one because I have never seen him solo (and I really want to and there aren't too many opportunities to see that) and I think he would play a lot of older stuff by himself....I cant imagine a Highly Suspicious solo acoustic version.....but now that I think about it I bet you he could do a really kick ass version somehow.....

Oh, HELL!
That line-up made my nipples so hard I could dial the phone with them.
Kaki King and Jake Shimabukuro on the same bill? If they jammed together it cause the synapses in your brain to snap, craqckle and POP!

Vibes
We'll be there
The line-up this year is great. In a big park with easy access from the highway and train station.
Newport is a tiny little town and on a normal weekend it's a living hell to get around.
You add the Folk Festival?
Oh, man ..... LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Bridgeport.
Zappa Plays Zappa.
Lesh.
Crowes.
End of discussion!
Its actually not bad at all. I've been to Newport many times. They handle the traffic really well and the venue is out at Ft. Adams and they bus everyone to the venue from parking lots. Its one of the most beautiful settings for music ever, right on the water, boats pull up and enjoy the show, I can't wait!
i tried to book a room there months ago, i couldn't find anything remotely close for less than 350/400 bucks a night. i would have loved to have seen JJ play solo but it wasn't feasible. i didn't want to stay far away, either...i'll try for next year but it seems like you have to book a year ahead of time
