Title: Goin' to Kentucky!!!!
Post by: j_rud on Jun 22, 2008, 10:03 PM
After a short trip from Philadelphia to NYC for the Radio City show I decided it was time to get a little more adventurous, so me and a friend bought 2 tickets for the show at Waterfront Park and booked a package through priceline. Thanks Shatner!

Ive never travelled to a show this far before, and Ive never been to Louisville. My time in the city will be limited, but what are some of the sights I should try to see? How about good bars?

Simply cant wait for August...with Radio City down and Lousiville, Philadelphia (Festival Pier), and New Years at the Garden on the horizon, The Year of the Jacket continues :D

I started planning my trip out there for this show--it's less than four hours away from where I live and I could easily camp out in my vehicle. . . but then I remembered--it's the same day as my best-friend's wedding. . .  I felt horrible when I actually still considered going to Ky. :-/

Anybody know how many tickets will be sold to the Louisville show? I want to see a bit of the city and get some food (and liquor) before the show, but I want a good spot too (and a poster!). What time would you Louisvillians recommend getting to the venue?

try southwest airlines...i think have have gates in philly and i know they fly out of louisville.   Hotels are cheap in KY.....if enough of you go in together you can get a pretty cheap room near 4th street...and the waterfront......

I recommend flying into Nashville on Fri renting a car going to the show in Nashville then driving to Louisville catch the show there and fly back to Philly on Sunday out of Louisville....thats how I would handle the situation

it's definitely cheaper to fly into nashville than louisville--wow--- i didn't find any flying out of NYC cheap--the hotels don't look that cheap for that weekend either (sigh) i think i'll just get a ticket for boston and do boston-philly. thanks though.

Um .... Just for clarification ....

The word sans means without or absence.

.... So, I guess, yes .... Technically .... You would be going without Detroit ......

.... Unless you have a realllllllllllllllllllllly big car

Please dont bring Detroit to Louisville!  Nothing against Detroit, but they might want to stay and thats not an option! ;)

anyone know of a way around paying ticketbastard the extra 11 dollars for the ticket to Nashville... just really sucks to pay over 33% of the ticket price to those fucks.

I'm hoping to go to the Louisville show, but I won't be able to get the tickets for another couple of days. I've got my fingers crossed they won't run out. I'm from London, England and will be at the London show on Wednesday. However, I just happen to be in the US travelling next month and decided that seeing MMJ in their hometown would be too much to pass up. If it sells out before I manage to get tickets I could try for the Nashville show the day before, but it wouldn't quite be the same...  :-/

I dont think it will sell out Ringo. I exchanged emails with one of the venue organizers and she said the place holds 25,000 people. She said they arent selling that many tickets, probably around 8 thousand so everyone gets a good seat. She said there are still quite a few tickets left last time she heard. Good luck!

Cheers for that. Let's hope. I'd be absolutely gutted if they ran out.

Hey J Rud.  You say seats, do you just mean "spots" or do you know know if there are actual seats.  Thanks.

I did mean "spots", I should have differentiated. It is all general admission.

If you filed electronically, it will get directly deposited into the bank account you used for that, and they're usually pretty quick about it...

JRUD, I am planning to come down to the Philly show at Festival Pier. How is that venue? I assume it is out doors? I live in NYC, so it is a pretty short trip but we are planning to spend the night. Any recommendations or bars or hotels in the area? I was at the Radio City show and am going to MSG on NYE but I could wait that long to see MMJ again. Especially when they are only a 2 hour drive away. I might even hit up the show in DC a couple of days before and work my way back for the Philly Jam. Can't waite!

The Hyatt Regency and The Comfort Inn Downtown/Historic Area are both very close (walking distance) to the Pier. The Hyatt is pricier but very nice. Its also close to some nice waterfront bars.

The venue is alright, nothing special. Its often referred to "a parking lot with a stage" as if thats some sort of knock on the place. Isnt just about every outdoor venue a parking lot with a stage?

i desperately need a ride down from the cleveland area. obviously help with gas, wouldn't mind sleeping in the car somewhere.

just shoot me an e-mail. i'm only gonna worry about tracking down a ticket if i can find a way down there at all.
