I was one of those idiots.  It slowly grew on me and seeing it live really sealed the deal.  That song rocks!

Well its all about opinion so I wouldnt call anyone an idiot for disliking a song. I think the only idiots were the ones who went beyond disliking the song and used it as a reason to bash the band. The week EU was released was pretty contentious around here.

I don't hate Highly Suspicious, but I'd rather hear Steam Engine, War Begun, One Big Holiday, Mahgeeta, Cobra, The Dark, At Dawn, The Way That He Sings, and I could list about 30 more.

Does that make me an idiot?

I recall that. I recall being called a blind, fanboy b/c I liked that song. I also recall a couple people saying I couldn't be critical of the band b/c I liked that song. I also recall defending my right to like whatever MMJ puts out and being called a couple of other things.

I think that all made this past weekend all the greater (I meant to say, more greater). The song off EU that got the biggest response was Highly Suspicious, which is pretty amazing since it's so different than the rest of the songs. That's reason #87 I love this band.

Love,

Fanboy #16

I counted approximately 10,000 fanboys (and girls) in Louisville.

great post, very true

I personally don't think Highly Suspicious is as epic live as Steam Engine, Dondante, Run Thru, OBH, OTR, The Way That He Sings, Lay Low (when Jim gets the guitar), or many of the other killer live classics, but it is certaintly so badass that it deserves to be up in this list of amazing great live songs that destroys the crowd.  Highly Suspicious was crazy in L-ville and was easily on of those songs that made the crowd go completely fucking bonkers.  If you hear that song played live, it's hard not to love it.

I liked it when I heard Evil Urges, but now it's probably one of my favorite 3 songs from the album.

Phone Went West is maybe my favorite live song, and I didn't even put it on that short list I just made of epic live songs.  I think they have like 70 of those songs.

I was never one of the unbelievers. It sounds like something I would have written.  ;)

I will admit I was not overly excited about it at first when I bought the album..........however after seeing it live in KC it moved up big time!........I will say from the beginning I never skipped over it.......

It grooved when I first heard it.

It grooved harder live in London.

It melted my face at Radio City.

It melted it again in Louisville after I had spent all summer getting it back into top form.
