Ok, so I know there aren't many Jacketeers down in So. Fla, but I was wondering if anyone here on the board is going to the show on August 29th. I'll be there with a few of my friends and we were gonna do some pre-drinking before the big event.
We were thinking Zeke's on Lincoln road. ($3 beers/ best deal on So.Beach)
Let me know if you're in. Hope to see you there.
i will be at the show, im coming from Philly so I don't know the area that well. how close to the venue is that?
Might not be any in S.Fla but I've been representing Cen Fla for several years. I would post a Orlando thread but probably wouldn't get a lot of response.
It's just a couple of blocks from the venue...the bar is on lincoln road which is a long pedestrian thoroughfare and the venue is just a few blocks from there....i'll look up the address and post it on here so that folks can come if they want

Post the thread, maybe we can all meet up somewhere in DownTown Disney! Im in....

Haldon! What up man, met you at the Heartland b4 RCMH. Wish I could make it, I have fam down there. Maybe next time. Have a blast! :)
Hey sean:
i def remember meeting you bro....sorry you can't make it down...
i'm hoping that there is a good turnout for this show....so. fla shows can be kinda sketchy (lots of "casual" fans who usually just come out to see "what all the fuss is about") but i'm bringing two newbie friends with me (one who just got back from Iraq) and they're pumped for the show
hopefully so. fla can represent so we can keep getting good shows in the future
Flying down from DC on Thursday night! Have a couple of friends in Miami who know the promoter. :) By the time I realized I could make it to this show, the freebies were gone. So, I'm looking for a PIT ticket, in case you know of anyone with an extra.
haldon! great that the band is making the trip to your town!
have a terrific time!

Ok, so here's the address to Zeke's
625 Lincoln Rd
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Its right on lincoln road which is the big pedestrian walking area on so beach. Its literally a hop skip and a jump (5 min walk) to the venue. My friends and I are gonna head there later in the afternoon (unfortunately i'm gonna have to put in a half day at work) but we'll def be there.
$3 beers -- best deal on lincoln road and good people watching
hope to meet some folks there.....work week has been crappy so far, can't wait till this show
I will be traveling from PA to Miami...i used to live in Boca Raton..so my 2 friends and I will be traveling down from Boca the night of the show...I would love to meet up with some fellow jacketteers for pre-show beers
cant wait for tonight
Wondering who the opening band is or if there even is one. real excited first time seeing mmj.
holy shit! That concert blew my fucking mind. If anyone could post the setlist, that would be awesome. Thanks.

Amazing venue, great show. I loved that they switched up the set a little bit. Very happy to hear Knot Comes Loose. I'm 0-4 this summer on War Begun's, really hope I get one in Philly on Friday.

Louisville and Miami? You're quite the traveler. I would have liked to do another out of state trip but the hotel for NYE kind of wiped me out. Im with you on War Begun though, I'd be ecstatic to get it in DC or Philly. War Begun and Evelyn...that would make my night.
NOW THATS WHAT I'M FUCKIN LOOKING FOR WHEN I WANNA CHECK A SET LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD CHANGE UP!
Hope they're just warming up for their west coast tour...I want their shows to be unpredictable...no more of this --->

some of these songs went one into the other, right? :)
I'm not crazy about that setlist. But four shows in seven days will do that to you. :P I think we'll get War Begun in DC!
Well, I'm not crazy about YOU!
What a great show. I hope they come all the down here again.
QuoteI'm not crazy about that setlist. But four shows in seven days will do that to you. :P I think we'll get War Begun in DC!
Hey Sass--out of curiosity--what was it about the setlist that didn't do it for ya? I'm really wanting to hear that part 2-->part 1. . . And I would think Knot would pretty much make up for any setlist wrong doings.
Did it just not flow for ya?
Flow...too short...really not crazy about TMIGTS II, though I guess a case could be made for getting it out of the way early ;). It Beats 4 U and Knot Comes Loose are very sweet additions.
Darlin' I think you might be getting burnt out--but then again, I'm a HUGE fan of Part 2 and would have most likely peed myself had I seen them open with it.
Take a break--refresh yourself and get ready for the next one :)
No burnout here! I've got two shows this week. I'm just one of the fans who is taking a while to warm up to Evil Urges and TMIGTS II is my least favorite off the album (after Librarian). :)
the poster from the Setlist archive is not the poster sold at the show, at least it is not the poster I bought.
Was there more then 1?
QuoteQuoteI'm really wanting to hear that part 2-->part 1.
Yea me too but I wanna hit up a show were they open with part 1 and end with part 2, thought they would have done it already.

I'm thinking a Full Metal Jacket type punishment would be appropriate.

Agreed! I would have had bladder control issues if they opened with Part 2 :D
The show was excellent. I will admit, that being a native miamian i was a little nervous about what type of crowd this show would draw. So Fla is notorious for having a terrible taste in music and a lack of appreciation for really good bands that aren't in the MAINstream. The venue was nice and small. Probably held about 2100 i would guess. It was a little more than 2/3 full from what I could see.
The sound and acoustics in the theater were really good, and Jim was really playing to those in the crowd that were there to have a good time.
I was second row from the stage in the pit and I must say that the boys put on an excellent show considering that half of the crowd barely knew any of the lyrics to the songs. I remember during Phone, I was singing and looking around and no one else even knew what the heck the song was, and then I caught the eye of one other girl who was up front who was singing along and we both looked at each other, and I was thinking, "glad to know some else came here to rock"
The setlist was pretty sweet. It was def nice to see some change ups in the songs and the order that they played them in. I took a photo of the setlist before the show, and so I was able to follow along as the night progressed. The only thing that bummed me out was that after Golden and before Run Thru, the list said STEAM ENGINE, and they didn't end up playing it, not sure why, but I would have really loved to have seen the concert.
I took a friend who had never seen them, never heard of them, and at the end of the show, he looked at me and said, "wow bro, now I know why you can't stop talking about them. That was a rock and roll show!" so i think he liked it.
Overall it was a really good show. The folks around me were really into the band and we were dancing and having a good time and I was really stoked to see my favorite band come to my city.
Looking forward to seeing everybody in NYC on NYE. love.

Just getting back from Miami...I thought the show was good; the theatre was pretty nice, though the sound got a little muddled for me a few times.
We parked by the tour busses and got to come in through the back where there are 3 huge pictures of Jackie Gleason hanging on the walls.
Despite seeing the signs that pointed to the MMJ dressing room, I behaved myself and didn't bolt up the stairs. Nor did I write my phone number in lipstick on the bus windows after the show, though the thought did cross my mind.
We were there a little early and I was surprised at how empty the theatre was. I think the band got started around half past 8, while the crowd filled in. This crowd certainly didn't have the electricity that the Radio City crowd brought, but I think it turned out OK. ;)
I had a PIT bracelet but figured that it would be too crowded, so I hung at the rail of the orchestra section for Touch Me 2 and 1. 10 or 15 people piled into the PIT during those songs, but it was still really empty, so down I went. :)
I stayed on Carl's side and had a blast. Started out about row 7 of the pit, then 5, then 3 -- all the while with enough space to jump around and not touch a soul. Of all the shows I'll be able to catch this tour, I doubt I'll have a better viewing/dancing area.
Hi-lights were watching the newbies with us enjoying show, Knot Comes Lose, and getting to watch Tom up close. He is ridiculously good. :o
Hometown show this week in DC, then maybe a run up to Philly. Not a bad way to close out the summer. :)
Good stuff!
so this is the true order of the setlist??? because I had times coming to terms with this. If I would have been there I would have flipped out!!!!!! (if this is true... I am stoned and have been evacuating from NOLA for the past 3 days)
Here is a photo gallery from the Miami show:
