Keep bringing it up!!! Maybe Hard Rock will soften a little on their notoriously tough business dealings, and RESCHEDULE. I made crazy arrangements to get out west to a little more intimate show. Now it's a mad scramble for me to get ticks ( at a decent price) for the Chi Town shows... Thanks. My bitching is now complete.

Someone (or better yet, many someones) should go listen to MMJ outside the venue and throw glowsticks at people that night.

What a kick in the guts. Sob story time: My soon-to-be wife and I are heading to the US next month for our honeymoon. We'd timed ourselves in Austin for the ACL Festival - thinking and hoping MMJ would be playing it. A little bummed they weren't but when I saw they had a gig in Vegas while were there, was like it was meant to be.
Apparently not. Still psyched about seeing M Ward, Neko, Oberst and Gillian Welch in Austin, but, being from New Zealand, I've never seen MMJ and was so looking forward to the Vegas show.
I've read the band may be heading to Australia early 09, here's hoping they can include a Wellington or Auckland date in NZ...

That's a huge bummer. I'm really sorry it worked out that way.

HOWEVER--they're playing a lot of dates next month--any way you could take a bit of a road trip and see them in another city? If there's any way you finagle a show into your schedule while you here, you should make it happen.

I'm wondering why they didn't just find another venue.

Matt,

Geez, that does suck. I've drivin between Vegas & Phoenix, Az over a dozen times & it's just a 6 hour drive. You'd love the venue MMJ are playing in Phoenix. I've been to EVERY place to dine in Vegas Matt & the place & dish  below is the ONLY place I dine when in Vegas. Just wanted 2 shed some light mate. Emeril's is at The MGM Grand

1) Emeril's New Orlean's Fish House: The grilled petite rib eye & bannana cream pie.
These 2 dishes r only served 4 lunch so get there at 11am.

Cheers for the kind words and tips.
I did compare the rest of the tour with where we'll be and when, we miss MMJ in San Fran by a couple days I think and are on a six-day tour from Denver - Arizona - Vegas (takes in Mon Valley, Canyon etc) when the Phoenix show is on. The idea of skipping out on the tour and making a beeline to Phoenix crossed my mind, but don't know how the Mrs would feel, and seeing I have no travel experience outside of NZ/Australia, Lord knows what would become of me. After Vegas we hit Austin, Washington, NY and up to Canada, with no MMJ nearby.
I figure them the breaks, surely Jim and the boys got to get down under at some point (though I've been saying the same thing about Neil Young for years).
At the moment I'm more worried about why my ACL aftershow tickets for Oberst/Ward/Lewis and Okkervil River haven't arrived in the letterbox. Better come before we fly out.

Matt,

well, MMJ just announced Tucson in place of the Vegas show! Tucson is just a 100 miles from Phoenix. I'm going to both. If I can help u & your wife with rides between both cities I'd b happy to. I know both cities very well. just let me know

Cheers for the kind offer Fortbethel, but we're already in Vegas by then. Buzz Down Under is that the Jacket will finally be within my reach in January either here in NZ or Aussie (opening for Neil Young no less!).
Looking forward to flying out on Friday, you Yanks seem like a friendly bunch.
