From the band:
It is with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of My Morning Jacket's up-coming tour to Europe due to injuries suffered by Jim in Iowa City. For the fans who have purchased tickets, we would like
to extend our gratitude for your support and understanding. Our hope was to merely postpone the tour, but as our scheduling does not allow that to happen in the immediate future, we feel it is best to cancel this tour in hopes of re-scheduling at some point.
We would also like to say 'thank you' to all the fans who have reached out to Jim with their well-wishes as we all hope for his speedy and full recovery.
:'(
Wow.
Aww man. The boys have got to be super bummed about this.
Wow.
Hold on for the "why does the band hate Europe?" comments. You know they're coming.
That sux. Does this mean Jim's injuries are more serious than we've heard?
So this makes Chicago there 1st show since the injury. Looking forward to a well rested and recovered band to unleash the FURY.
This is seriously troubling. I hope Jim is all right.
That sucks, I was so happy to see them in Berlin, after seeing MMJ at RCMH in June!
I hope you come to Europe sometimes in 2009.
PLEASE!!
Wow.
All I can say is wow.
My European vacation just got WAY less awesome.
Feel better, Jim. :(
wow, I'm officially concerned about NYE. I'd love to hear some updates as to exactly what's going on with Jim. Get well JJ.
Get well Jim, hope that this is nothing too serious.
Look forward to seeing you Chi-town!
This is so worrysome. Who cares about future concerts?(Although I would not ever want to comtemplate a life without MMJ concerts.) We just need Jim healthy and well and ready to rock. So take you time, Jim, and get well!
Is there anything we can do to help? :-/ :-/ :-/
Noooooo. "How can this happen again? When will i ever get to see this band? Why do they hate Europe so much?"
> No, seriously: the most disturbing part about this cancellation message is the phrasing of those last few words: "we hope for his full recovery". I really don't like the idea that full recovery is only something to be hoped for. So please, get well Jim. Europe will be ready for you and the boys to conquer it, whenever you're good and ready.
QuoteThat sux. Does this mean Jim's injuries are more serious than we've heard?
Id assume so.
Itd be nice if they could update all of us on what he exactly injured and how he's doing.
I kinda feel lucky now that at least the CHI shows are rescheduled and not totally cancelled.
Wow, we really need some more information. I had no idea how serious this was.
I hope Jim is ok.Very troubling thoughts racing through my mind.
I don't care about the cancellation, even though the November date was a glowing highlight in my calendar.
I just hope Jim makes a quick and full recovery.
Wow, this is looking really shitty for Jim. I hope they're all just playing it on the safe side, rather than this being a really serious issue.
DOUBLE FUCK! I booked a sea crossing to France (non-refundable), and a hotel in Amsterdam for 2 nights (non-refundable)!
What a bummer!
wow did not see this coming... hope everything is cool
Wow
Poor Jim & Poor Europe.
This MUST be a sign of the "End Times".

Wow. Hope this doesn't get too serious...more well wishes, Jim!
QuoteI hope Jim is ok.Very troubling thoughts racing through my mind.
fuck fuck fuck.
***take it slow and be well, jim!***'
damn.
That really is too bad & very worrying. An update would be cool, just like everyone else, I really hope Jim is OK...
Don't die on us Jim. We need you.

Healing vibes to Jim
Please be ok :'(
Gutted, but I wish Jim well.
I was convinced that Manchester would be gig of the year...
In which case, that award goes to the Bristol Academy show...

Get well soon Jim. Hope you're doing okay.
Get well soon Jim. Looking forward to your return.
The anticipation will be sweeter than ever.....

My trip to Berlin just got a whole lot less exciting but hey, rather JJ makes a full recovery...
Sending lots of love and well wishes across the Atlantic :)
I just read that the european tour is canceled. This is very disturbing, not because of the shows but just how injured is Jim? Maybe you could update us on his condition. I was front and center at the Iowa City show We drove in from Omaha and my only concern is that he's going to be O.K. It was a very surreal experience and it would be nice to know how he is doing. ~renee'
Man, I was at the Iowa City show and words cannot describe the disappointment. But i guess 7 songs is better than none. It kinda gave me the feeling that I saw a festival show or something where their time was restricted. If I could ever relate the term "blue balls" to a concert though, that would be it. I just hope I can get a ticket to see them in Chicago now.....that would probably make my year (seeing as how there would only be about 3 or 4 days left in 08).
I had bronchitis this week, and I was up at 2 a.m. Tuesday because my meds weren't working and I was waking up every five minutes. I just sat on the kitchen floor and kind of wished that a truck would come and hit me so I'd be out of my misery. But then I decided to go down and listen to some MMJ. After that I stayed asleep. So I hope you get some relief, Jim, because you brought me some. Get better!

Ahhhh....sweet MMJ relief. At Dawn works every time for this guy. 8-)
THanks for the message. I am sad. I was so excited.
I would have seen the black keys, modest mouse, kings, raconteurs and MMJ is the same few months. Jesus I was a happy bunny. get back here boys.
I'm really sad the tour is cancelled. I had tickets for Bruxelles and Amsterdam, but I'm glad I've did the long ride to Köln in June of this year. The show was so great. One of the best I've ever sean!!!
Get well soon Jim.
If anyone has any tips on how to get a refund off Ticketmaster for the London show then please let me know. They are insisting that as it was only the support band that has changed the tickets for "The Black Keys" concert are still valid.
I've got no interest in seeing the Black Keys without MMJ and I want my money back !!
I guess somewere in my backhead I knew this was to happend, have had a pretty down weekend, was gonna have 4 great days in november, but Jim just take the time to recover and come back when you ready(this spring would be really great :). Don´t forget about us scandinavians, 2006 you cancelled becuse of sickness and didn´t return, I was lucky to watch you before Pearl jam in paris, but have alot of friends here thats never have had the chance to see you guys. So rest up, recover and give us a hell of a show later on!

I can think of a lot worse places youd be stuck going to than Amsterdam
Unless you meant youll be getting fucked twice as much while in Amsterdam, which judging from what my friend who was there recently said, that what Id be doing

I booked for Brixton w/ Ticketweb, they have given me instructions to return the tix to them for a refund. So, maybe try again with Ticketmaster - maybe you can use this as leverage ?
Here's a direct link to the page on Ticketweb - "Refunds available at point of purchase..."
