I was jamming out to the opening Evil Urges Tour set in Nashvegas tonight, reminiscing on the romanticism of that wonderful evening of my surreal roadtrip following the gang this summer, and I came across some banter from yours truly James Olliges Jr and his take on glowsticks, enjoy....
"thank you very much for these glowsticks, theyre a symbol of love and trust they are a precious mineral that can be mined and sold for fuel, we shall open a glow stick fuel refinery thank you".... Nashvegas '08
so for all you haters of these beautiful symbols of "love and trust" hate on...
get well soon Jim... see ya on NYE!!!! :D ;D :D ;D :D
It does seem to directly contradict the controversy in the earlier glowsticks thread(but aiming and throwing at band members is never cool).
So, you think he's being serious? Do you know where I could go mining for glowsticks?
Glowsticks are F$#$ing stupid. Jim says a lot of things to please the crowd.
Anyone who was at that show saw the band getting hit with them all night. They were covering the stage and Jim kept kicking them out of the way and at least once a crew member came out and swept a bunch out of the way.
But yeah, that show was fucking awesome!
well, when I saw them at Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Jim suggested they light off the furnace (which was behind the stage) and they would all go up in flames and it would be their political statement regarding iron ore...
Sarcasm can be a mother fucker if you don't get it ;)
sure sounds like sarcasm to me!
QuoteSo, you think he's being serious? Do you know where I could go mining for glowsticks?
I would really hope that no one took it seriously.
QuoteSarcasm is stating the opposite of an intended meaning especially in order to sneeringly, slyly, jest or mock a person, situation or thing. It is strongly associated with irony, with some definitions classifying it as a type of verbal irony intended to insult or wound. Sarcasm can also be used in a humorous or jesting way depending on the intent of the person speaking.
Uh...you couldn't taste the sarcasm in that? I don't think any of them enjoy having them chucked at them.
I've also heard Jim take credit for flying in Ferris Wheels and for providing pony races for the fans...
I wanna go mining for ponies ;D

Yes, and fireworks and General Jackson.
obvious sarcasm here...
thanks for the definition did u get that from a dictionary???...
It is some funny banter however and I think a sign that the band (or at least Jim) does not despise the glowsticks... I love em, so much fun maybe it's just the jolly kid in me, keep chuckin the laser lights through the night sky especially at the climax of Gideon :o

Yes, and fireworks and General Jackson.
And hot air balloon rides!
When the fireworks went off in Nashville I told Lovedog Jim was going to take credit for them. A few songs later he said, "we got those fireworks just for you guys!" 8-)
what a glorious night it twas!

That is correct! ;D
ya correct! hooray! ya!
Don't forget about the guy who climbed the scaffolding, jammed for a while, then came down and walked off. The cops didn't even care.

jj has a history of this. a couple years ago at bonnaroo, during the late night set, he kept telling the crowd "i hope you guys like the big ferris wheel we worked all day to build it for you".
get well you wiley sumnabitch!!
A good glowstick war is a sight to see, although it has gotten a bit formulaic nowadays. First one I saw was at the Gathering of the Vibes 2002 during phil lesh. It was surreal, it was so unexpected and organic.
Leave to Jim to solve the energy crisis, only he could have such genius.
