They've kind of shot themselves in the foot a little here, only 2 shows & both dates fall on weekdays, which means they've limited their ticket sales.
Shows start so f**king early here & it's difficult for some people to get to the gig on time (especially foreigners who work at English Schools) Had one of the shows been on a Sat or Sun then more people would have had the chance to travel from other cities etc
Maybe they'll book another date. I mean, while they're in Japan they may as well stick around a bit.
I hope so!
More & more bands are avoiding Nagoya (third biggest city) & are only playing Tokyo & Osaka. It seems strange to come all this way & only play 2 dates but all the bands seem to do it...
Nagoya on the Sat on their way back up to Tokyo would be perfect...you reading this Jim?!! Nagoya on the Saturday please!!! ;)
Yeah, the band owes it to Fan Boy #1!
This is a bittersweet victory. Anyone who has seen the hilarious promo video for EU will remember one of the guys (Carl I think?) saying the band split after the Japan tour. A premonition?!! :o
Get your tickets whilst you can guys...it's the beginning of the end!!! ;)

I was thinking the same thing but I didn't even want to say anything!
add my vote for jacketfest japan 2009 - i'd actually have half a chance of getting there!!
i knew if we waited they'd come through for us db!
Still nothing official here but I've read lots about the Neil Young/MMJ Oz tour...are they playing anywhere near you Ali?
Good to see you BTW :)
you too mister, it's been a while! :)
there's been no word other than rumours that both neil & mmj will be playing the big day out, which goes to gold coast, sydney & melbourne (& nz). they're still rumours though, and the only firm confirmations is the actual neil young show i got tix to. i just can't imagine that they'd come all this way without playing at least a few shows around the traps. tickets to the bdo are really hard to get these days (all the kiddies get on the net & buy them really quick... geez how old do i sound), so i probably won't get a ticket. as festivals go it's ok, just getting a bit too big with too many pissed teenagers wandering around. (again, nanna ali talking here. people also have a tendency to not give a shit at festivals & talk, which one of these days will induce a brain explosion in yours truly).
i'll try and get to as many of their shows as i can... sydney is achievable, we'll just have to see.
fingers crossed for you too!!
i recently popped in one of my favs from the 70's Cheap Trick, Live at Budokan. One of my favorite lines from this album is Robin Zander saying... "the first thing I did when I got to Japan was buy a Japanese guitar!".
I spent some time over in Japan and Korea years ago, what a freaking treat this would be, what a gorgeous part of the world. Enjoy DragonBoy.
Cheers CT, whereabouts were you in Japan?
Needless to say I'm pretty f**king excited!!!
Not too sure why the 1000's of Japanese lurkers haven't come out of the woodwork & posted yet...
Hell yes!!! 8-)
Here's hoping their return flight makes it's way to a Saskatchewan airport and a show ensues. ;)
You gotta' make Jacketfest next summer Dude so you can have one amore dance with crazylove! Glad you are back, a certain sense of stability ensues.......
Thanks K & TEO! :)
Seriously though, where are all the 1000's of Japanese fans?
Don't be shy if your Engrish grammar/spelling is poor, you'll fit in perfectly with more than half the f**kwits here ;) ;) ;)
TEO - people are looking for you! http://www.mymorningjacket.com/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1222638814

;D
Just got an email regarding Oz & Japan dates. The email says 3 dates in Tokyo...surely that's not right?
2/4 Tokyo, JP - Duo
2/5 Tokyo, JP - Duo
2/6 Tokyo, JP - Club Quattro
db-have you been to any of those venues? how big are they?
Hey Ms Yvon!
I haven't been to any of the venues but I have been to the Club Quatro in Nagoya & I think the one in Osaka is pretty much the same (even though today's email said Tokyo, I think the show on the 6th is in Osaka @ Club Quatro)
Not sure what the exact capacity is but I would hazard a guess at around a 1000...
EDIT: Only 700 people!!! :o
Hmm the website says they're all Tokyo too. I hope the show on the 6th is Osaka or I won't be able to make it to any of them :( :( :( :( :(
3 shows in Tokyo? Can't be right...CC?
db, come on! Everybody gets sick sometime in their life. Even the occasional pneumonia that will put you down for several days. ;) They can't get this close to you and you not go.

well, we can't have that. i'll move the 6th to Osaka, especially for you ;)
wotta guy! [smiley=beer.gif]
Quotei'll move the 6th to Osaka, especially for you ;)
Our moderator truly moves in mysterious ways.
All the Japanese sites (promoter & venue) are saying only one night in Tokyo?
2/4 Tokyo, JP - Duo
2/5 Tokyo, JP - Duo?
2/6 Osaka, JP - Club Quattro
I got ticket No.3 for Osaka the day they went on sale...if I ever find the owners of tickets No.1 & 2 I'll beat the crap out of them!!! ;)
I check a couple of pages everyday for new gigs in Japan, it always gives me chills when I see this...
