The Ginger Man (in honor of THE GINGER MAN-J JAMES) is just a couple blocks away from MSG.
I am starting a new thread so people don't have to scroll thru pages to find out where it is. Here is all the info you might need:

You sure know how to get things done . I'm there!

I am in the middle of a very big event/project that is time sensitive. That's why I haven't been around for awhile. If I can get things together within the next couple of weeks, I'm going! In fact, I'm pretty determined at this point. PennyLane will be glad to know that I still haven't reserved a room anywhere, so if I have to sleep standing up on the sidewalk...so be it. LOL.
I was catching up this evening and I was excited to see that you were going J. I look forward to seeing you again...and of course Given.
The lady has been giving me shit lately so I didn't want to take her, so I asked Goose if he wanted to go. He and I are making the trek up there (you guys met at Bearno's in Louisville, I think) on the 30th. It will be short but jam-packed with excitement! What a way to start off a New Year!!!!!!!!!!!
We'll keep in touch along the way.
Me plus 3 will be there!!! The Ginger looks like my kind of JOINT. 18 DAYS!!
I'll be there! Love the one in Austin. That was my hangout!

nice! i didn't even know it was a chain until i saw the website. it's good someone can vouche for it! i'll probably get there early --around 3:30/4 (so i can leave early for GA pitt action) :D
Been there - it's great lots of room but it gets crowded. Excellent beer list too. Damn, I can't wait.
Thanks for getting this together. 8-)
I can vouche for this location, I love this place. Was going to be my pre-concert drink spot anyway, so I'm glad I will get to meet some MMJ fans there too!
I just looked at their website. I dig the feel of the place and I have to know if their Guinness is really "flawless". plus, pennylane said in the other thread that they have The Last Waltz on the jukebox so i am dropping dollars on that. props to her for putting this together. most of all, i am looking forward to meeting others who have contracted Jacketitis. :)
woo hoo... cannot wait, this is going to rawk!!!
Most excellent, Penny. Thanks for coordinating. :)
Gingerman can get crowded, but usually once you get past the bar, toward the little room with the chairs and sofas, it gets a little roomier. :)

no, thanks to you for the idea---i am assuming that back room will be open because in order to reserve it, people are going to have to do that $1000 guarantee and i don't see people coordinating that at this late date so i'm pretty sure MMJ fans will take over the bar, including the back room, (which she said holds over 50)
This place is going to look like the Okonokos party scene ;D

except they have a no alpacas policy.

I agree...and I'll try to get there early-ish too to help to save space.
Yay for good beer!! :D
Team Good Vibes will be there in full force representing San Francisco California, Denver Colorado, El Paso Texas, Tucson Arizona and New York City New York! Woot Woot!!
Thanks for setting this up!
i'll catch you guys there...only a little while to go now
Me and my girlfriend will be there. Just look for a cute TINY (under 5foot and 90 pounds) blond girl and a LARGE ugly guy looking like he might be a narc (thinning hair, 6 foot three over 220 pounds).
Can't wait booked my tickets right after Bonnaroo amd am travelling from Toronto just for the show!!!
Oh yes, I might have two very good tickets in the 100 section directly back from the stage for sale at cost.
this place looks amazing - but they are selling tickets for $100 from 9:30 - 2 am. and they close at 2. so a post show drink there might not be possible :(
Not sure what time they are closing, but there are a few Heratland Breweries, especially one close by the Ginger Man and by MSG.

ill be there, anyone know how close this place is to Penn Station?
Penn Station is at 32nd and 7th and The Ginger Man is on 36th b/w Fifth and Madison, sooooooo four blocks north and about 2 1/2 blocks east.

5-10 min walk probably?
weather is supposed to be a little snowy/rainy in the morning:-( hopefully clearing off by then.
anyone else heading there earlyish?
I hope to be attending! Scheduled to get into Penn Station from Boston @ 6:00 pm. Kind of worried about the weather tomorrow. Boston is expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow, so just hoping to make it to the show on time!
I would try to leave early if possible. MMJ always seems to like to play days where the weater is crappy..at least when I have seen them it has been.
Me n Kerrie may be there for like 3ish... :D The Ginger Man, that is.
nice! i just called them to let them know there would be a pretty big group. 32 hours....
is this palce the best bet for pre-show drinks?
is it a completely idiotic idea to fill a nalgene bottle with vodka/red bull? i can see the authorities either cracking down hard or worrying about other problems. i plan on getting to Penn Station at about 7am or so. looking to make a morning of it until the long-haul wait sets in, and obviously i do not want to venture too far from the area, as crowds could make it tougher to get back in time.
i have to run some errands in the city tomorrow. how late do you think people will be hanging out at the bar?
I have a couple great tickets (Section 101). and will be at Ginger Man tomorow with my girlfriend around 4-5 PM.
I need the cash or a favor for a guy who doesn't chance borders (from toronto); Would give them away but this city is expensive and I am not a rich man but would love to give these great seats to a real fan on this site without personal profit rather than dealling with scalpers.
Any takers? will have tickets at bar.
see everyone there. :D
Putting my tux on now!!! ;D
See you all at the G-Man!
Thanks again to Ms. Penny for organizing the pre-game at Gingerman! I was late getting there, but it was nice to see everyone and those sweet capes! Nice to put some faces with the screen names here! I'm still trying to figure out the Jedi-mind trick that Penny used to remember who everyone was! :)
I had an absolute blast last night! Definitely a wonderful way to close 2008 and begin 2009! Happy New Year, y'all!!!
That was a pretty sweet bar..........lots of good beer!
it was definitely big enough and close enough--thanks for the recommendation Nova!
Yes it was a lot of fun.
