Once again, a festival that mixes the good with the bad and totally inflating the value of the ticket price.
The only way this would be worth it is if MMJ played a late night set under the night time desert sky and the sheer force of the music incapacitated Ms. Spears.
On the flip side, I could totally justify tix for this by telling my girlfriend she could see that trampslut.
Oh, and imagine a Neil/MMJ collab? I nominate Cowgirl in the Sand.
Its funny that the White Stripes are rumored considering that they are not even playing now. Lol.

i agree--isn't it hard to pretend to sing at an outdoor festival? no way superfly would EVER let her play Bonnaroo thank god. it definitely wouldn't be the Which or What stage..it would be the WTF!! STAGE lol

Sadly, i could see the day. I remember after '06 the rumor was that MTV would be a partner with a likely Black Eyed Peas headline. That was some scary shit.
Perry Farrell said in an intervew a while back that the festivals are starting to miss the point of the festival and they're turning into marketing ploys. Real festivals can be hard core things for hardcore fans, and the labels are missing the forest for the trees.
Plus, on a more obvious note, certain acts draw certain crowds, which I think can be the most dissuading factor for me. Either way, I consider MMJ playing any festival enough reason to go if I can scrounge up the cash.
I'm sorry but did you say the Replacements?!?!?!
God is good.
I would skip the second weekend of JazzFest if the Replacements are confirmed.
am i blind? i don't see mmj on there at all?
penny: the WTF? stage: BRILLIANT!! ;D ;D

Blasphemy! ;) ;D
Second weekend still has that TBA and a Fest Board member told me who they are trying to get...I'll be at Jazz Fest. 8-)

NAH AH. WHA?!?
I like me some Sassbox!
Paul Westerberg is the love of my life (sorry Jim?!) - and I get weepy with the idea of the 'Mats back together.
Gah, I can't even tell you how many times I saw The Replacements in the 80s. It's all one big, happy blur. And I would seriously consider skipping the second weekend of JazzFest to see them...except if Nova's intimating what I think she's intimating with that winkety-wink sunglass emoticon...
I can see the dilemma - but I just couldn't live without seeing them (paul and the boys) one more time. I think Jim and MMJ might understand.

;D I di-INT. :)
...it's not MMJ, though I did send an email to Superfly today suggesting that they bring the boys down to play in the slot that Gov't Mule does. Warren Haynes will be on tour with the Dead, so no Mule shows this year.
Seeing the Mats again would be incredible. I do hope the inclusion of Britney Spears in that list is someones idea of a joke. And how many years now have they said the Smiths would reunite for it?? I doubt it will happen.

oh you must not know a lot about Warren..lol....he'll do the Allman's (40th anniversary year), The Dead, the Mule and do solo shows..a few of which he already has lined up....oh and guest with every band under the sun at every festival there is...thats just what he does.
THe Smiths will not get back together. Ever.

quite the opposite...know him and his hard workin' ways plenty and know lots of folks in Warren's camp and that's where I got the info.

well I was just talking about the "no mule shows this year" thing. I wouldn't believe that info. There is zero chance Warren would ever go a whole year without Mule shows. They already have a few shows in Feb' lined up...he has solo shows lined up, the Dead and Allmans tour dates and the Mule will be at Mountain Jam and i'm sure they will be doing a lot more shows.

Sorry Bold...you misunderstood my other statement. I meant no Mule this year at Jazz Fest. Not all year long. ;D
