Title: Allgood?
Post by: layin low on Feb 04, 2009, 04:30 PM
Hello friends, longtime lurker, first-time poster. I too, am in some dire necessity of some live Jacket action this summer. If Bonnaroo is out, and since someone already suggested Rothbury, I'm jumping on and suggesting Allgood Festival in W. Va. Something different, yet still would be magical.

Please make this boy's dream come true. Thanks.

They had a pretty kick ass setlist last year.  Looks like it would be a good time.

they said a couple years ago that they did not want to do every festival, or something like that. I believe they are rotating with the big four, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lolla, ACL. In 07 they did Lolla and ACL, in 08 they did Coachella and Bonnaroo. So I think Lolla and ACL have the best chances for a festival show. This might change with news fest like Outsidelands or AllPoints

ROTHBURY ROTHBURY ROTHBURY.  Perfect size and they'll be a headliner, where as Roo I doubt they get there just deserves as ROO paid Phish 2.5 mil and they got Bruce to close Sunday.  Roo would have to give them the Pre PHISH slot on the big stage BOTH NITES to make it worth it otherwise they'll rock too hard during the afternoon as they have in the past. Not a bad thing but they are currently the BEST touring American Band and should be headlining or its an insult. Hello, MSG NYE?

MSG on NYE might not be happening again while Phish is back. Theyve perennials played there for 15 years when theyve been together.

Now, If it was MMJ and Phish at MSG on NYE, I would probably simultaneously shit my pants as my head exploded  :D

Initial lineup here: http://www.allgoodfestival.com/

I couldnt cut and paste it, but its there on the homepage. Headliners are:

Ben Harper and Relentless7
moe.
Ratdog
Les Claypool
Yonder Mountain String Band
Buckethead

Not too impressed with it right now, though I definitely want to check out Harper with his new band and its been a few years since Ive seen moe.

I remember the lineup being a good bit better last time I went in 2005 or so (Umphrey's McGee, Spearhead, Flaming Lips, String Cheese, Keller Williams, DBT's, Victor Wooten, Lotus, Matisyahu), so hopefully the artist additions are good enough to make me consider going since its like an hour and half drive only, if that.

Umphrey's McGee, Dark Star Orchestra, Jackie Greene, and a couple others are the first additions to All Good.

Umphrey's certainly raises my chances of going, though not sure the lineup is quite enough yet

Ben Harper's new band is good from what I've seen.  They have a concert of theirs on HDNet off and on right now.
