boys have been on some serious vacation.....which they deserve. is it just me or is anyone else getting the itch for these dates...if there are any? just funny how there is no word from the home team except for the 2 live discs.....so if they do release dates we are looking at what? summer dates cause they gotta give us at least 3 weeks to prepare...i guess i just miss my jacket.
We're not going to get a tour this year. Maybe a one-off date here and there, but no tour.
I'd love to be wrong.
is that just a feeling or do you know something that we dont know? i hope your wrong too. just think its weird that nothing is posted yet and we are almost halfway home in 09. deemed the hardest band to see live....now that phish is back on tour....
fall tour
@bugman: you could've gone to see them if you hadn't spent all your $#@!*% money on 10 yearly Widespread Panic shows.
I remember in '06 they announced the fall tour right around May or June, so if it's gonna happen, the announcement shouldn't be too far off.
At the very least I think they will play a Louisville Thanksgiving show and a New Years show, but the New Years show will be somewhere very remote so as no one from this board will be able to afford to go. Somewhere like...THE MOON.
@splatonyourface.....the panic plays 125 shows a year. jacket around 60...you do the math...im a lover of live music....and i do believe i spent my money on moving to fucking jackson. for those who are not familiar with jackson, ms.....NO LIVE MUSIC SCENE...unless you dig the bar band...in which that case...go see graball freerun at martins this thursday april 9th!
i got the gas money if you got the ride....SEE YA ON THE MOON BITCHES!
@bugboy
oh, i seem to remember you going on some spur of the moment shows a month before the Louisville show. You're lack of commitment to the jacket yielded an xtra show in Nashville (top 5 Jacket show) for me, so it's all good.
Preorder tix for MMJ on THE MOON! now at a www.ticketmaster/youwish
i'm praying for a spot on the acl line-up. if they're gonna be there, so will I, no questions. and i have a hard time getting the energy for festivals, but anything for these guys.

Damn it, BH...you are the fucking man! Some might think, "why is that information important?" But there are some of us that really appreciate that kind of knowledge. Thanks, bro. :)

you're the man, thats all i gotta say
Ha! Thanks guys, it's just my fanboyism coming thru! ;) (That and my obsession of having to calculate and put numbers and sequence and order to everything that I love.)
If you throw out 1999 and 2009, that is an average of 76 full band shows and 10 Jim Solo shows per year.
BH that's incredible! thanks!!

So, since they played the most shows in 2008 since 2003, Im pretty sure they arent going to have a major tour this year
Or a minor one...
I think some positive tour vibes are definitely in order....I am mentally banishing all negative "no tour" energy...
wow.

go ahead and make it 5 months with no word.
Really. 5 Months and not a peep. You know, aside from the releases. I don't get it. At this point something, ANYTHING, would be awesome.
Such as:
1) Are the band members still alive?
2) Are they enjoying the time spent off?
3) Has anyone dyed their hair bright orange? Or Pink? Tommy???
4) Did anyone pull any good April Fools Jokes on other band members?
It just seems like with this glorious interweb and connectivity it allows with the fans, that we would get some if minimal updates every now and again - besides releases. I can figure those out on my own.
Just, you know, a "what's up" to all those folks that pay for our food, rent, sex toys, etc.
I don't feel like I'm owed it necessarily. I guess I'm brainstorming for a job I don't have.
i know they did the shows overseas and what not earlier this year but i guess we might be asking too much. enjoy the time off guys, lord knows i could use some.
i check this baby everyday for something. maybe changing the evil urges layout would be a start. time to spread the wings and fly!

I am beginning to worry....could it be that Jim is still recovering from his injuries? I mean, he seemed to be in great form on NYE, but you never know....I AM DYING FOR DATES! We live in NJ and plan to travel wherever just to bring our 6 y.o. daughter, who is also a massive fan : ;D :D ;) :)

such dedicated parents... brings a tear to my eye
she was so devastated when Jim hurt himself, she sent him a homemade get well card.....this is truly a remarkable story, which i hadn't shared previously because I was afraid word would get out and too many people would try to "copycat" but I feel trust in the "forum. Anyway, I sent the get well card to the management company, flatiron, in the city. About 3 weeks later I received a Fedex containing a note from Jim thanking her for the "super sweet get well wishes" and two amazing seats for NYE. We sat in the "family" section right behind Patrick's parents, who were totally cool and friendly, and my husband hi-fived Patrick's Mom during Run Thru. It was truly one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Our daughter, of course, was a bit bent that she was not coming to the concert, so we have promised, the next outdoor show she will be there.....are these guys too good to be true or what? PLEASE GIVE US DATES!!!!!!!!!

they are so accessible- which is really beautiful- they love their fans and deep down just seem to be great/kind/loving/friendly individuals. what a great story- your daughter sounds like a sweetheart too.
i too hope that people don't try to follow suit just to score some free tickets- but reach out to make contact for the right reasons- true fans know that though
Quote...my husband hi-fived Patrick's Mom during Run Thru.
;D That's rad! I'd love to meet Patrick's Mom!
That's a great story. :)
any chance that they may make a random festival appearance?

dave, you are the wind beneath my wings. [smiley=beer.gif]
They are just something else. Especially that JJ.
they are like no other....we are so fortunate to have them, and it's so natural to just want more, more, more....i want someone to do a documentary about them.....i just watched the (old) wilco documentary-i am trying to break your heart - and found myself wishing for something like that. just to get a little sense of what goes on in their day to day existence...they are just this unique combination of "god" like musicians who also seem like totally laid back, nice, guys next door (but not in a serial killer sort of way) people who are totally accessible. Though I am SURE I would completely faint if I were ever to have "access" to any one of them....it's so emotional what they conjure up :'(
sorry, not usually a rambler...

i myself have thought about doing a documentary about them- but have no idea where to begin (get my little joke there?) anyway- with no experience whatsoever in film/documentaries (except watching them) and no camera or recording equipment- seems a bit silly of a dream- i guess I really just want to spend a lot of time with the band and have a reason to just stare at them in awe ;D
i'm thinking Fall Tour!!!
That story about daughter's get well story is really awesome!
I love Yim (in a bromance way) :D
kinda scary when you really look at things.....many bands already have their fall tour dates up. im thinkin there is an 80% chance of scattered jacket throughout the usa.....over the course of the next 8 months
Just one show is the northeast is all I need this year... until next year when I'll need 3 or 4.
OK, how about something similar to the end of 2006? That would be fantastic..........around the holidays...so festive....
Please just give us something? Is anybody out there? Even if it's next year, just so we have something to look forward to..the anticipation is just multiplying daily....i am pathetic
:'(
If they do play, say 5 or so miscellaneous shows the last 2 months of the year, you know that they will be LEGENDARY
boy would they be.....but they would probably be somewhere remote like new zealand....too many mutha uckers uckin with my shit. my transactional shit. no seriously, there will be something but its looking like fall rather than anytime soon.
for the haters that said go see some other bands...well i have done that for the last 2 years....i cant seem to catch a jacket break.
like clifford franklin said....people up north are like a cold to my morning jacket....they are the only ones catching them, only ones coming down with them.....
i miss my morning jacket
No tour until 2010
We know.
taking practically a whole year off?
...
that's a long time for a buncha dudes that love to play music.
...
dammit.
2010? no way....thats a big bummer...gotta feed the monkey man...
strike while the iron is hot no?
I don't get the title of this thread...I saw the boys live 3 months ago :-/
obviously your not a golfer
obviously, dude.
And, by the way, my morning jacket hates us all. Just sayin'
i was visited by star last night in the shape of a jackrabbit and he told me. then he became a she and gave me a hug. She told me to pass this message forth in an honest, unassuming manner.
My Morning Jacket hates You All! They want to skull-f**k every one of you!
Sorry for the bummer dudes - that's what the cosmic jackrabbit told me.
Peace and chicken grease.
just thinking it was last year at this time i was getting ready for bonnaroo and the radio city show...and the summer/fall tour----then NYE... :-/ :'( ...ahhh...to go back in time to June of 2008. what i wouldn't give...just feeling sorry fer myself today...for all of us ....
Those were the days.....and to think rcmh was a whole yr ago....still remember it like yesterday, getting caught in massive gridlock going into the city(not too smart)...getting in with 2 minutes to spare... and seeing kirsten dunst smoking a butt outside, and making it in JUST IN TIME for evil urges.......the anticipation is practically driving me mad :-[ :-[ :-[
i will take two of whatever splat splat splat ate last night :)
is there really no news out there of what these guys are planning?
09 is damn near halfway over with....
