Only a little over 2 weeks to go...who's got tickets? Mark? Paulie? St John?
Still not sure if I'll be able to make it (but finding out that Great Lake Swimmers are playing @ the Jazz Cafe for just 10 pounds the night after has given me another reason to try & get over for a couple of days)
I'll be there... if my tickets arrive! Damn postal strike >:(
Db, you should definitely come, it may be your only chance to see the Monsters. Plus Great Lake Swimmers for a tenner - what's there to think about?!
Hey Sparkle!
Yeah the more I think about it the more I think I have to get a ticket. It won't be cheap with the flight & hotel and everything...I guess that's what Easyjet & Premier Inns are for ;)
I know that St John is going so I'll add her to the list:
1) Sparkle
2) St. John
What about our good friend Lily? :)
I have got tickets, and I am even going to miss my martial arts class for it!
This may sound like sacrilege but I was even thinking of not going! I wasn't that excited by the album, but I suppose any chance to see Jim should be embraced. And I'm sure things will sound better live.
The Troxy is a nice venue though, although it's in a pretty glum area of East London. For authentic Pakistani food head to the Lahore Kebab House, it's only a 10 minute walk away and it's cheap too. Get there early though, there are no reservations and they queue out of the door on some nights.

I like the album but I don't love it, that's why I don't have tickets yet. But like you said, I'm sure the songs will sound excellent live & any chance to see Jim play should not be missed! Is the venue all standing?
1) Sparkle
2) St. John
3) Paulie Walnuts
Hell, I'd make the trip just for that kaboob house. They need to have more stuff like that here in my neck of the woods...

It's an old 70's Art Deco cinema, standing downstairs and seating upstairs. It's pretty big downstairs so I don't know how full it will be. Not sure how MOF is doing over here.

Exactly! It will be a good few days away from sunny Spain!
I don't think you need to be blown away by the album to come to the show. From the sounds of it the live shows have been pretty spectacular.

Yeah nothing like the grey clouds & continious rain of the UK to bring you back to your senses! ;D
I checked on the MOF forum, no thread for London.
Mark? Lily?
The live versions far surpass the album. A much fuller sound if anything. Just to see JJ sing I will be there and Look at would be worth the price of admission for me...

I think Mark is in Andulcia right now on holiday.
People, you must go!!!
Seriously, I would pay the $65 over again for just Smokin From Shootin and Chinese Translation by themselves.
The whole thing is going to end up costing me about 200 pounds, maybe more (about $400)
That's a fair amount of money, especially since I'm currently without a job/home/life etc but f**k it! You only live once, right? & it is Jim James!!!
Quotebut f**k it! You only live once, right?
My favorite saying of all time.
Just went to look @ tickets, Stargreen says it's sold out?!! :( :(
Ticketmaster has restricted viewing only on the balcony?! WTF!! :( :( :(
2500 capacity & GA is sold out?!! Way to go MoF!!
Looks like I might have a ticket :D :D :D
Well if you're looking to say $$. Hitch a ride to Normandy and swim the Channel. Hell if people can do it just to say they did it, surely seeing JJ at home is a just cause!

One week to go friends!!! :D :D :D
anyone know what the music is on the lahore site?

Would love to be going, but no can do. There's a pub just up the road from the Troxy that's a bit of a dive, but it does an excellent pint of Guinness. Get there early to stand in what was the orchestra pit. I was there for Nick Cave, and the sound was excellent.
