Had they ever done this before the last 2 shows?!
I never remember hearing about them doing it like this. Listening to the Bama show, I liked it, but a Run Thru without "Oh Shit Run" aint no Run Thru for me.
Better than no part of Run Thru though!
I am pretty sure I have heard this before. I think it was one of the Japanese shows last year. Someone with a better memory than me might know - I will check my mp3s when I get home from work.
THIS WILL NOT STAND, MAN.

Yes, I was 25% sure this had happened, then when you said the Japanese show from last year, I'm now 80% sure without listening to it.
Theyre listed just as Run Thru in the archive. So either they just started changing how the list it for this tour, or they played the whole song those shows
I'm thinking they go straight into the middle of it. They did the same thing at Roo '06 with Easy Morning Rebel. Loving Cup->middle of EMR. It was actually pretty cool.

These last 2 shows thats definitely what theyve done - started it where clock arms starts basically. Im just wondering if these are the first shows where theyve done that with Run Thru

I was thinking that too, but couldn't remember if that's how they closed the set or not. I was VERY out of my head during that (the best night of my life)
They did it back in '09 at the Duo Music Exchange show, (Japan I think)...I wouldn't be surprised if they have done that a handleful of times, that's just the only version I have in my library.
I prefer the full length though...I like the early changes and build up to the 'clock arms'
It's punishment for the glow sticks and it's worse than we thought. ;)

They did it at both the Sydney and Melbourne shows from last year too.
It is an interesting version of the song. Having listened to the two most recent shows several times now I think it is growing on me. In Seattle 2008 I got a copy of the setlist after the show and it had Run Thru crossed out from the encore by a roadie right before MMJ came back out for the encore. That night I would have love to have heard the half version so we at least got some Run thru.
Another side note...I hope they don't do this to more songs. Can you imagine a 5 minute Steam Engine? I can't.

Yes, this is the case. You can hear it streamed here if you anyone is curious. http://www.archive.org/details/mmj2009-02-06.ecm719.flac16
Good memory me. Maybe now Sticky Icky will stop calling me a N00B ! 8-)
They did this three times last year in Sydney, Melbourne and Tokyo but it was always following Cobra. Now it's following Smokin' from Shootin but not really as much of a transition as I was expecting when I listened to it.
The Smokin' from Shootin, Run Thru, Anytime, Touch Me Part II section of Birmingham was a real ASS KICKER!!!!!
