5. Ghost and Ghostess + friends
I'm there
I, too, will be traveling down from New Jersey, hopefully with 1 or 2 friends.
have any of you been to this venue before?
FiddleCastro likely joining. Coming from NYC/LI if I can round up some people to come with me... I'm stoked.
I could combine two obsessions here: MMJ in concert followed by a tour of The Wire's setting. Not sure how much tickets to Baltimore cost...
EDIT: British Airways fly direct for $500
I am now a probable, +1 - from Boston.
I will be there possibly with 4 others, including 2 newbies to the band
I was thinking this show would be pretty easy to get tix for, but now Im thinking a ton of fans from north of the mason-dixon line will be targetting this show. Throw in that its on a saturday, and definitely.
But if Phish tix arent hard to come by at Merriweather, I dont see how MMJ tix will be
Quotehave any of you been to this venue before?
Never been there. Only know that security is supposedly hardcore there.
Im interested to know how it is from the lawn though, and how easy it is to get into the Pav if you have lawn tix.
Hopefully one of yinz that are going and get Pav can stub me down! :)

me too. when i first saw the list i thought 'damnit! why aren't they coming north? this sucks.' after initially giving up, i decided to investigate & realized that this one's not far at all, AND it's a saturday so it's totally do-able. and then i thought 'shit. a looooot of other people are gonna figure this out too...'
i've heard that phish tix are super hard to get so this gives me hope - thanks capt! :)
never been to this venue so i'm a bit nervous about the pav vs lawn seat. but i guess as long as i get a ticket that's the most important thing.

If by chance you make it, I would gladly give you a tour of the Wire's setting Mark. :) I live in Central B'more, the relatively peaceful buffer between East and West.
How was Kerala?
Can you show me Hamsterdam, Ruckus?
I am at "probable" for this show.
the Wire was one of the greatest shows on cable TV...I too will need the tour...
Golden Lady + 4 (all MMJ veterens) :D

Does anyone know approximately how far the Merriweather Pavillion is from Towson, MD? I have some friends that go to school there so the only way i can make this happen is if i crash there.
Did they release ticket prices for this show yet?
I used to live right next to Merriweather, so I've been there a whole bunch of times. It's tucked away in the woods in the upscale community of Columbia. It's across the street from a great mall - The Mall In Columbia. It's a bit on the older side, but still is fairly nice. I'd definately recommend getting pavillion seats though, because it's fairly hard to see the stage from the lawn (although they do have a jumbo tron on the edge of pavillion).
I'm coming down from Pennsylvania, most likely with a few friends. Can't wait! :D

It's a 25-35 minute drive from Columbia to Towson via the Beltway (depending on how fast you drive).

Hey Ruckus - thanks for the offer. It's really tempting to get over, but it would be a pile of money for a weekend away...
Kerala was beautiful - people/scenery/food/vibe were all spectacular. Coming back to a cold, snowy, dark UK was a real downer.

What a relief to find out tickets for this show aren't on sale until 2/19. I thought it was today. I've had a crazy, awful weekend (all's fine now) and forgot all about this morning's ticket sale until now!
I'll definitely be there. Does anyone know what the deal is with presale?

Good question...
Jdbartender will be there plus one..
I saw MMJ back in 06 when they opened for Pearl Jam, but I had no idea who they were. Now they are my favorite band... So this is kind of like my first MMJ show. Super pumped!
i'll likely be there...with 3 or 4. i work right up the street from the pavilion.
AHhhhhh ill be there for sure a bunch of friends and I are going and im taking my friend for his bday :D

when do the travel packages go on sale?
QuoteDid you guys see this? Looks like a pretty cool idea.

Yeah, looks like a nice package. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the boys made an appearance. Is that they're MO?
Funny, this show is the closest to me (NH), but I'm shooting my load going to the first three dates during my April break. I think my wife will leave me if I try for the MD show as well.
I look forward to hearing all about this from those who buy the package. Wish they would do that with each stop.
Let's do the math here.
Sheraton: $120 double occupancy according to their site
2 tickets: $90ish
2 posters: $50ish
...so, that's a $239 pre-party? :o
I like the idea, but seems a bit pricey for what you get.

you get 2 hits of acid in addition to your 4 well drinks..but yeah, i was waiting for someone smarter than me to do the math... :o
Now, if they could guarantee seats in the first ten rows, or if it included a meet-and-greet...
Or even better, a donation to Haiti...
Work on it MMJ ;)
So I may have thought these tix go on sale tomorrow, but its next week.
That said: Where does one buy these tix at?! I dont see them on ticketmaster or livenation, so whats the deal?!
They should be on Ticketmaster's site by the middle of next week. I can't wait! :D

Thanks for the update, Baxter!
oh man that deal that just dropped on the front page is so fucking tempting. I need to get a hold of one of my friends and see if they'll split the price with me. what an awesome thing to do. nice idea mmj and co.

Agreed. I really,
really hate to have negative thoughts about this band but this seems like a horrible idea, at that price. Even if there is some sort of meet and greet, it seems like a slippery slope.
I'll be there from NJ
Will be there, possibly going to do the package since its like a 1 hour drive from Alexandria.
I'm in! +1
I'm coming from Philly.
Coming down from Boston with +1!
Does anyone know how many tickets can be purchased at once? I'm trying to get six together. Is it capped at four? I just checked the ticketmaster site for a different show, and it looks like you can get up to eight at once. Hopefully this applies to Merriweather.

Not sure, but good luck getting Pav seats at all. If youre trying for 6 together, your chances are basically not gonna happen
(sorry to be negative, but its true)
I can now say I'll definitely be there with at least one friend, maybe 2 more :D

The first shows selling through Ticketfly will be the May 1st My Morning Jacket and the
May 16th Sugarland shows. Both will go on sale Friday, February 26 at 10am.
"When My Morning Jacket heard we had a shot at a new ticketing provider, with lower
service charges, they held up their on-sale date to give us a chance to get it going in
time," said Hurwitz. "We appreciate their support in building a new model. It's one thing
for a band to complain about service charges, it's another to take action. Hopefully,
they will be the first of many that prove their sincerity about their fans and their ticket
prices."
right now, the event isn't listed on either site.

This is fantastic! Thanks Jacket. Thanks Ticketfly. Much needed competition in the ticket distribution market is here? No more collusion? Real price competition? ::)
I guess we'll see here. I haven't used Ticketfly much but I did use it for Dr. Dog/Deer Tick. $15 still became $21.75 for will call. I guess it's better than the Master
Prices just listed for the show - $45 pavilion, $32 lawn.
Also, doors at 6:30 pm now (it was listed as 6).
A little troubling given Merriweather was a VERY hard 11 pm curfew. Not one of these "play late and you'll get fined", but "we won't let you play past 11".
No prob for back in the "an evening with" days, but if the jazz band is opening, we aren't getting an epic length show.

yes - thanks for the info!
re: curfew - it seems like a few of the venues on this tour have the same issue. it'd be great if they could play a long epic show but i'm willing to settle for just an epic show of medium length - quality not quantity :P
also, since you seem familiar w/ this venue - i've been reading on here that there's a strict "no tailgating" policy as well. is that strictly enforced as well or is it like in, say giants stadium - where as long as your spread doesn't take up any add'l parking spaces they just look the other way. other places you can't blatantly be drinking (bottle or cans) but those red plastic cups are ok... things like that.
just wondering if this is one of the reasons for the pre-party thing.

Whenever I went to a show there, I was tailgating. Now, unless that has changed since I was there last. With Ticketfly doing the sales, does anyone know if there will be a pre-sale????
last summers phish show people were there drinking all day. i got there at 3 because i didn't have a ticket yet, and they were not giving anyone problems.
also, i am fairly certain that the show went past 11pm.
No word on a pre-sale? I don't want to miss out.

Hey everyone! Kind of new to the Board but wanted to post in regards to MPP.....
Been seeing shows there since 91-92. This is all my opinion but, the lawn blows for sound and sight lines. Unless you're right "on the rail" of the lawn, you really cant see the stage. So enjoy watching the jumbotrons.
I've never really had an issue with tailgaiting there. Yes, there are cops all around riding on theri golf carts, and even birds in the air. But, just as long as you dont act a fool you'll be fine. Bring plenty of red solo cups, and anything else be stealth with.
On the positive, Merriweather i think has a great vibe and i've seen really great shows there. The venue is kind of in the woods so its chill.
Oh yeah, traffic blows getting in so get there early so no hassle.
See y'all there!!!

Hey man, didn't mean to sound needy.. Yes I am on Ants, but I am on a number of boards as well. With that being said, MMJ has been my favorite band for the last couple of years - however I have yet to really spend time around here.
Anyway, I don't know the protocal on MMJ.com, so please forgive my ignorance. I didn't read the whole thread, so I just posted my question hoping to get a quick response. I apologize if that seemed abrasive. This board seems far more well mannered than boards like Ants or PT so I am going to have to get use to the culture, as I plan on being around here much more often.
Thanks for not flaming me too bad! ;)

thats brutal about the sight lines, ugh. anyone else been to mpp and have some more insight on that? just curious, not debunking what you are saying.
i know the group i'm going with is not going to "fight" for position if we are on the lawn, we'll probably be a quarter of the way up.

I apologize if that seemed abrasive. This board seems far more well mannered than boards like Ants or PT so I am going to have to get use to the culture, as I plan on being around here much more often.
Thanks for not flaming me too bad! ;)
it's all good dude. Cheers for being a jacket fan. This board is awesome, and way more chill and accepting than Ants, which i'm on as well. That said, CC has our best intrests in mind, and when he knows what's goin on, we will too. Welcome to the boards. :)
Thanks!
Again, I appologize for my ignorance, but who is CC? - just so I know.

CC Baxter is a Mod here. keep an eye out for his posts. he doesn't post as often as a lot of the regulars, but when he does, it's usually something really interesting/of importance/an insight into the band/looking out for us members. He is the guy thats going to let us know the presale password... basically, CC is the man with the plan
Eagerly awaiting presale info here.... coming down from philly for this one.
QuoteQuoteHey everyone!
See y'all there!!!
thats brutal about the sight lines, ugh. anyone else been to mpp and have some more insight on that? just curious, not debunking what you are saying.
i know the group i'm going with is not going to "fight" for position if we are on the lawn, we'll probably be a quarter of the way up.
but if thats true, looks like pavillion is the way to fly.
yeah, i've been to MPP a bunch myself and the lawn is no place you want to be if you want to actuallly see the band. at a certain point on the line you are actually lined right up with the roof of the shed and jumbotron. it's brutal. also, the cops at MPP have been notorious for being assholes at certain shows so you just always want to play it cool and by all means, don't go peeing in the woods if you are in the lot behind the ampitheater. 2 of my friends got arrested on the way out one year.
This will be me and my friends first MMJ show..pretty excited!!
Looking for some presale info if available

I was wondering why I had some PMs asking for presale passwords this morning hahaha
I take it that we will be at the rath of the general public onsale tommorrow? If I'm in the dark someone please bring some light.
I really want to score some good seats/ GA if available....who knows

general public sale is FRIDAY @ 10AM. word from CC that there will be a PRESALE TOMORROW (THURSDAY) and to stay tuned for those details. i expect we'll get the presale info @ some point today.
sorry for the all-caps, i promise i'm not shouting - just an effort to point out the really improtant stuff for ya ;)
good luck!

don't forget me!
I think it's wishful thinking to dream there's a secret PM thread circulating with presale info. BUT - if there is, I want in too!! lol
really doubt that CC will be PMing anyone. all he said was that there will be a presale on thursday & to stay tuned for details. another forum member suggested (mostly in jest) that instead of posting the presale info for all to see - including scalpers - that CC should PM the ppl who replied to this thread as "attending".
it would be great, of course, but i wouldn't bet on it happening.

me too, w/ a friend, although haven't researched flight info yet. If you have and have any good ideas, let me know. I know southwest, airtran, or jetblue are the places I'll be looking. Wanted to wait until concert tix have been secured.

Hope there're a presale too!
Quotethats brutal about the sight lines, ugh. anyone else been to mpp and have some more insight on that? just curious, not debunking what you are saying.
Like I said in my post on the 2nd page, I'd highly recommend getting pavillion seats, because it's fairly hard to see the stage from the lawn (although they do have a jumbo tron on the edge of pavillion).
If I wanted to watch the boys on a tv, I'd rather just stay home and watch Okonokos. ;D
QuoteJust found out from this guy that the password is "nipple".
I thought it was gonna be "areola". ;D
thanks to everyone who's posted info on this place, much appreciated!
so it looks like tailgating is tolerated as long as you're not being a jackass.
i suppose we're gonna be enemies over the next few days.
*fisticuffs*
From just reading this thread, it looks like everyone on the East Coast is coming to this show. Which i think is great, hopefully should make for a rocker of a show, but damn i need that presale info because i think Friday is going to a free for all like Vegas buffet
i hope the lawns are hype and rockin this tour.

Interesting reviews ... never been there even though I live so close. People seem to like the sound and most things about the venue but I guess you gotta be in the pavilion to see the band.
Since many are traveling some distance, a tailgate would be in order! Oh man...The weather should be perfect for this venue too.

c) call ticketmaster by phone without a redial button?
d) mail order tickets and wait for weeks on end to see if you got tix, and if so what kind of seats you got??

b) call ticketmaster by phone
c) call ticketmaster by phone without a redial button?
d) mail order tickets and wait for weeks on end to see if you got tix, and if so what kind of seats you got??
;D ;D
AHH!! The good ole' days. Remember them well!!
Ayup! I remembah back in tha day, it was a mite more excitin' gettin' fourth row tickets for Pink Floyd or Boston. You had ta work for 'em.
Rotary dial, programming the VCR like a grow light timer, those were the days. Kids these days, with their fancy cell phones and remote controls, though I do like the Spongebob. He cracks me up.
"hushed tone" And the password is........
Kenny! You forgot me (plus two).

sounds like this venue is great but kind of a b*tch at the same time...anyone thinking about a massive tailgate?[/b] looks like everyone needs to get there early to avoid traffic...
You know I'd be down for a tailgate. Someone set it up, I'll be there. Question is whether I should try to drive home from Raleigh after the show or spend the night and leave in the morning. Either way, I'll have to drink off my hangover. Let's do this and aim for the largest forum photo ever! :)
ill be there plus one. is there a presale password? can someone pm me with that?

I was just checking that out on their site. I couldn't find anyplace to register or set up an acct. Maybe you have to do so when purchasing the tiks.

I use Ticketfly to get 9:30 Club tickets here in DC, and once you go through the link, you'll just enter your info and credit card info, so it's pretty easy.
edit -am I missing something here? I cannot
find any link or presale info o ticketfly, tm, or the merriweather site
Is there any word on a presale ticket limit? I'm in tr precarious position of needing 5 and
I'm afraid there will be a 4 ticket
limit
Either way, no need to stress over
this one. More great seats at this venue than most. Don't sell your soul for a spot on the far side of the orhestra pit when a center seat in like row 15 is way better. Saw oasis from a spot like that at merriweather in like 2006 and it was great
best case scenario - you're close and it'd awesome
worst - you're only 15 yards further back, it sounds better - and it's still awesome
still creeped out by ticketfly. I'm leaving work to buy tickets and can't fin anything in their site about mmj

It appears that the merriweather site will direct you to ticketfly when the link is available. Right now, I see the MMJ show listed, but when you hit buy tix nothing happens. However, if you hit buy tickets for one of the shows listed below, it sends you right to ticketfly and asks for your promotional code.
Anyway, I can't concentrate on work right now knowing that tickets go on sale in t- 30 min. Going nuts :D
The tension is certainly mounting!!
sorry guys, just heard the presale isn't happening because of the new ticketing system. everything goes on sale tomorrow.

I was freaking out because I got a late start this morning, thought I missed the presale for sure ;D Better luck to all of us tomorrow, I hope!
I hope we don't crash Ticketfly's site tomorrow. Good luck to everyone. It's going to be tough to get good seats!
QuoteI hope we don't crash Ticketfly's site tomorrow. Good luck to everyone. It's going to be tough to get good seats!
4sho! I'll take anything under the roof.
Well, glad there wasnt any presale because I wouldve missed out.
But, so, yeah....Im looking on Ticketfly right now, and not only is Merriweather not listed as a venue they sell for, but when you search My Morning Jacket it comes up as "no events found"
What gives?!
Just an observation - I noticed that if your purchase reserved seating tickets via Ticketfly, they don't show you the seat or row that you're in. I don't know, maybe it will be different for the Merriweather tickets, but it seems like even if we are lucky enough to grab up seats inside the pavilion, we won't know exactly where we are sitting until we actually get the tickets. All this ticket stuff is driving me crazy, sorry if I'm overanalyzing this!
I really hope that we are all just unnecessarily stressing out about this "not getting inside tickets thing".
MPP isn't a small venue.. And although there seems like a lot of people on here going to the show, MMJ is still unknown to the mainstream population. Meaning, my guess is that there isn't going to be a whole lot of people outside of this community fighting for tickets tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. Really... How many people do you think outside of this community even know tickets go on sale tomorrow, and of those, how many do you even think are going to remember to be on their computers at 10 a.m. on the dot? Maybe I am being overly optomistic, but I am just hoping that we all get great seats! :)

You're probably right, but the scalpers worry me.
but come 10:00 am EST my mouse finger will be ready to go!
Pavillion is GA according the the MPP post on FB today. Everyone can now settle down and not have to worry about a rush at 10AM. :)
Well, that's excellent news!
QuotePavillion is GA according the the MPP post on FB today. Everyone can now settle down and not have to worry about a rush at 10AM. :)
The whole pavilion is GA, or just the Pit section?
Here's what it says:
Quote$45 General Admission Pavilion [ch8231] $36 Lawn
Tickets on sale Friday, February 26th at 10 AM through Ticketfly
I'm betting ticketfly still isn't ready to handle this and that was the best solution.
Well, that takes away the temptation to scalp for some great seats.
QuoteHere's what it says:
Quote$45 General Admission Pavilion [ch8231] $36 Lawn

Their homepage @ merriweathermusic.com just says Pavillion $45.00, no mention of Pavillion being ga there. They also have a seating chart up and it doesn't show any Pavillion ga, pit or other for this show.
I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to know exactly what's up.
I'm betting its going to be seating and lawn, no GA
Interesting though that on the facebook page, all other shows in today's post say "pavilion" and MMJ says "General Admission Pavilion"
for ex: m3 rock: $175 VIP · $75 & $55 Pavilion · $35 Lawn
sugarland: $76 & $56 Pavilion [ch8231] $36 Lawn
MMJ: $45 General Admission Pavilion [ch8231] $36 Lawn
Seems like an intentional distinction. However, I agree that no sign of this on the homepage. Confusion continues!
I'd prefer reserved seating, but I'll take what I can get. I'll get to see MMJ live and that's all I really care about.
:)
I just called merriweather and they said that the pavlion is all reserved seating.
QuoteI just called merriweather and they said that's the pavlion is all reserved seating.
Thanks for the update, John! I wonder why the details are so sketchy so close to the on-sale time.
From ticketfly themselves. The floor is non-seated general admission. The remainder of the pavilion is seated reserved. Hope this helps.

huge clusterfuck - got in quick at 10 and my connection times out twice.
had to start over and STILL trying to get tickets. ticketfl cannot handle this.

4 GA also. Let's have some fun peoples :)

Had some trouble at first getting timed out off the Captcha a few times, but happily walked away with 2 GA pit. Making up for not getting in the pit on NYE, so I'm gonna be ready to party!
placed in "waiting room" and got row O That's cool I need a seat for before and after the show
got some in left center area. not thrilled with it, but could be worse.
Yeah, it's a clusterfuck alright. I was going for orchestra seats down front since my buddy sort of has a bum knee and isn't too much into standing for a couple of hrs. I got right in and picked 2 decent seats a couple of rows back in the center. Went thru the whole process and then was told that it was an invalid request and got kicked out. Went back in and got put in the waiting room. Now, I have seats left orchestra, row AA. Well, at least I am there. Good luck to every one else!!

3 GA Pits!!!!!! Yes!!!!! :) :D ;D
So excited!!! My wifes first MMJ show with Pit tix!!!! Going to rock!
i got pushed out with requesting two GA after the captcha then i had to go in a buy two regular seats. when i went to check out my two GA were there so i purchased those. im holding onto my receipt just in case. that was a total clustercuss!!
This is absolutely ridiculous. Everytime I choose tickets I end up losing them somehow. >:(

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
same thing...I picked GA tickets when there were over 1000 left, then got an an error message. Got sent to waiting room, picked up some seats in pit again and then told those were gone. Picked seats in the pavilion and told those were gone, I let it pick seats in the pavilion for me and then after going through the process it said those were gone. Now no tickets left in the pavilion. I am mighty mad.
After a few error messages I finally got 3 pit tix. See ya there.
pit! see you kids in maryland in the spring! [smiley=beer.gif]
Got 3 GA Tix. Yes.
Christ!! This is ridiculous!! I bet you over at StubHub, those greedy bastards are putting them up for a couple of hundred bucks already!! I hope everyone that wanted tiks, got em!!

sorry to hear about the problems some have been having... i've been down that road to headache city too many times! somehow the fates were on my side this time.
so glad I got GA. it more than makes up for the trip from Boston. actually, i rather enjoy driving. never stopped in MD before! maybe I'll check out Baltimore too.
i got 4 ga pit and 2 reserved seating right center. ticketfly was a cluster fuck. i had the first two put in all my credit card jazz got all the way to placing order..it kicked me out. i went back in got the other 4 and then all 6 were in my orders.
i may put the 2 reserved seating up here to sell as they are row BB. any interest? send me a PM
good luck to all...i need a to relax now

I finally got tickets! Man, that only took 45 minutes. I bought 6 extra tickets, so in case somebody here can't get some, I'll sell them for face value. 4 of them are floor and 2 are in row Q I think. PM me if anyone is interested. I just checked again real quick and can get better seats now then I already have.
This whole process has left me completely drained. :(

Just scored two ga @ 11:02!
Earlier I got that select-a-seat thing too, and then got kicked out. Went back in and could only select best available by price. Took two decent center reserved, and just checked back and got lucky with the ga's.
We're meeting up at the Sheraton. $109.00 for the night.
Has anyone here ever stayed there? It looks to be close to MPP. I was wondering if it's within walking distance.
Thanks.

Very nice job, indeed!! I will be coming from PA but am staying with a friend of mine. We are driving up from Alexandria. Any word on a tailgate or pre-party would be nice!! It would be nice to finally meet some of you guys!!

You must have me mixed up with someone else. I wish I had four GA tickets for sale, but afraid not.
The Sheraton is definitely the closest hotel. It is walking distance, but a bit of a walk (say 20 mins)... across a huge mall and parking lot and through all the Merriweather lands. Still, parking is a mess there and traffic sucks so it's definitely the way to go.
If you want to spend the extra, the club section (I think that's what is called) is a newly renovated building and it's a bit nicer. If you simply need a bed to pass out, so what, but for $20 more bucks I think it's worth it.

Im staying at The Sheraton too...remember me Penny, I used to PM you about The Verve all the time when I was getting into them. We can finally do that trade for bootlegs if you want, I have a whole lot now. Would love the person who indirectly got me into The Verve.

Is parking a bitch at this venue?
QuoteIs parking a bitch at this venue?
It can take quite some time to get into the venue. There is usually a huge line, stretching from the entrance to Route 29. I'd definately get there early if you don't want to sit in your car for any length of time.
That being said, the tickets on Ticketfly are better now then they were earlier. What the fudge is up with that?

you can get into the venue on the backside near the mall. its usually not crowded on that end. i go there all the time. leaving is another story though. its not so bad though.
Yeah it's crazy -- I forget to get on right at 10am and didn't log on until 11, put in for 2 tickets at $45 and first two that came up were for GA floor! Couldn't believe it. Lucked out this time I guess... Can't wait!!

you will probably be able to find 2 GA tix for face on here @ some point. however, if you're nervous about waiting, maybe have another look @ that travel package deal. it's down from $499 to $429 for 2 tix (earlier the site said "your choice GA or PAV")
breakdown (rounded up) now looks like:
$429 total (2 ppl) --- $215 per person
$108 tix (2) --- $54 per person
$121.50 room (2 ppl) --- $61 per person
$50 - poster (2) --- $25 per person
$149.50 - pre party (2 ppl) --- $74.76 per person

why, yes it is... i'd totally go for this if i was confident that my friend won't flake out on me. she's the perfect P.I.C. for a gig so will always have 1st dibs. but flaking out last min has been increasing within the last year. life stuff. just can't swing the whole thing myself at this time. i'm gonna keep my eye on the link tho - if they aren't selling well the price may come down more & then maybe it'll be more in my price range.

Hey guys! I did some "undercover" research and this is what the current ticket situation at Merriweather looks like (as of 2:30 pm ET). Grey are reserved seats, red are sold seats, teal are pending sales, and blue are available seats.

Ditto on both points. I find this fascinating.
I made it from the 30 or so different ticketing sections they have available for Merriweather on the Ticketfly website. Took me awhile, but it looks nice. Pretty good sales for the first 4 or so hours. BTW, I think the GA tickets are sold out.

nice work - thanks!
GREAT work!
I think what you are saying is that you are somehow using the "pick your seat" function to view the different areas and then pasted them all together.
How do you see each section? When I try to buy tickets, my only option is to pick a price and quantity, and then it gives me best seat available.
Yeah, I'll post a bigger image here is a second.
To view each section individually, go to the address below and change the "52" (at the end of the link) to a number between 52 and 88 to view all the different sections. Works like a charm!

Wow pretty cool. Still some open pav seats left.
What does "reserved" mean? The grey ones. How is that different than "sold"? Are those the seats that are sold under the table to the ticket scalpers? :-/
If anyone is interested, I have 2 GA tickets purchased this morning ... I accidentally put 2 pairs into my shopping cart and didn't feel like starting the purchase over again possibly screwing myself out of all of them.
Anyway, pm me....face value, of course...
I'm sure you wont have a problem getting rid of them

I think they are the tickets that are reserved for family members/friends and radio stations, etc. Some of those may become available as the concert nears, according to Ticketfly's website.

That's right - the CID package seats are those center pavilion seats, row M and better. (Not all of them) but if you buy the package, have confidence you are getting sweet seats.
One other point - a guy at CID told me you wouldn't know your exact seat assignment for a few weeks.
QuotePretty sure we are going to see Citizen Cope at 9:30 the night before, anyone going to that?

Does anyone know how many can fit in the ga pit area at MPP? Do they typically oversell the ga and jam pack everyone in there? I've been there once, years ago,but sat on the lawn and don't think there was a pit for that show.
I've done some ga pits and they all seem to be different. Fords in Tampa was nice and roomy, but the shed in Mass, was crazy packed all the way back, the show I saw there. All are tight up close and on the rail, obviously, but I was just wondering about the rest of the pit.
Just curious what to expect. Trying to decide what tix to keep. We have two ga and two center Pavillion, and told some friends they can take the two that I pass on.
I heard all of your mom's are going to be there.
QuoteTrying to decide what tix to keep. We have two ga and two center Pavillion, and told some friends they can take the two that I pass on.
I'm tackling the same question. Which way are you leaning? I'm not sure which to keep, though having thought about it all day, I think that I'm going to take the GA tickets over the reserved - because I'll be able to be closer to the stage and will be free to move around, not confined to a chair. I don't mind a few sweaty fans next to me, as long as they're not all up "in my business". Let me know what your final decision is.

I'm not sure if it's any help but usually pit tickets are amazing. MAYBE 10 rows worth of space if that. around row HH is where you're completely level with the stage view wise at a lot of venues. anything lower would be sweet but if you ask me a complete cocktease.

I'm leaning towards the pit for the same reasons as you. I don't mind being crowded a bit, but I've been in some real tight pits where you couldn't move, and I'm not into that anymore.
So long as there's some room to move around, I'll be good with that. I'm not really looking to be on the rail.
Hopefully someone here who's been in the pit there will chime in, and give us some idea of what to expect. It doesn't look like it's a real big pit area,so that'll be great, as long as it's not oversold.
I'm re-considering my decision after browsing the web for reviews and pictures. Seems like the pit is pretty small and somewhat crammed. The reserved seating is elevated and seems to have a much better overall view (though not as close to the stage, obviously). Also, the sound would probably be much better in the reserved areas, as the speakers wouldn't be directly above your head (I think the "sweet spot" for the sound would be near center row AA, as that is where the sound board is). Here are some comments/pictures/videos I found online...
"the pit at merriweather is medium-sized - not huge like at nissan pavilion, but i've seen smaller. when there are seats in the pit, they put in 10 rows."
""The pit is kinda small but, not a lot of space to jump around in wife had two crack ribs after the show cause of amount people in one area."

I am in the same situation. I have 2 GA tickets and 2 Pavilion RC Row N. Not sure which ones i wanna use. I was 2 or 3 rows back at the Philly concert Sept 08 and it was unreal. Only problem is that my lower back can't take standing for hours at a time. So it was like simultaneous euphoria and pain.
Had reserved seating at NYE MSG and it just wasn't the same experience. Great show, but afterward my face had only minor burns, not complete meltage like in Philly.
Its a tough decision...but one I'm glad i get to make.

I'm kind of psyched because everyone says all seats in the pavilion are great, and so is the sound.

People were pulling pit tickets like 2 1/2 hours after they went on sale. I was on right at 10 and had no problem whatsoever.
I was in the Pit at MPP last summer for Thievery Corporation and it was really fun. We were super close and actually it wasnt that cramped.

Yeah I was a little worried when they didn't have the exact seat numbers on the order yester day, but I figured they would be part of the grayed out seats.
The few times I have been there the pavillion seats have been the way we have went. Very good views and able to sit if needed as they were festivals with 10 plus bands. The acoustics are great and the beer options are better than most concert venues I have been to.

thanks guys, I owe a lot of it to Kory and his epic camera work, the lighting on the photo I used just worked so well for the effect I used on it. I'm going to start looking into how much it would cost to get these printed if enough people are interested, also see if its fine if I do that or if it should be going through the bands website. I'll keep folks posted. maybe we could get a teeshirt role call going to see if there is enough interest or I should hit the drawing board again.

QuotePenny, I heard Ruckus will drive us both...isn't that right, Ruckus? ;D
Just scored a GA for Sassbox. MMJ forum represent! ;D
I just read this. My and my buddy will be riding in a compact but in all honesty, if you guys need a ride, it won't be a problem. No more than two ladies ;D
We still haven't decided whether to just drive overnight or spend the night. Since we have beds at home, we might just leave after the show.

sweet shirt, and if you do end up going with that as the graphic, you should totally put that line from Way the He Sings on the back of the shirt....my class made shirts last semester for a bar tour, they had writing/graphics on the front and the back, and the only cost $6 per shirt

I e-mailed MPP today about the way they are handling the GA Pit. Figured I'd give you guys a heads up. Here was my e-mail and their response.
MPP-
I will be attending the My Morning Jacket concert on 5/1 and have a
question concerning the GA Pit. I am curious how many people will be
allowed in the GA area? Is it typically jam packed or will you have
your own space provided you are not trying to be one of the first few
close to the stage?
Also will there be any type of security to ensure that people do not
get in there by using a friends ticket when they do not have a ticket
for the GA Pit?
I have GA pit tickets and have never been to MPP and do not know how
they handle such shows. Please advise to the best of your ability.
their response.
There should be about 1,000 in the Pit area with plenty of security on the
Sides and against the stage. You will trade in your ticket for a wristband
When you enter so no one has tickets to give to others.

1,000 is a pretty big pit! Weren't people saying it was tiny?

i personally don't care b/c i'm tall, but my gf is not tall and doesn't like the claustrophobic feeling of random people packed around her. she'll be fine as long as there is some space which is what i was checking. i figure as long as they regulate the people coming in, then it will be fine. i was afraid tons of people could stub down and then it could turn into a mess.
no offense to those that didn't get into the pit and planned on stubbing down. i've stubbed down plenty of times to better seats.
also, looking at the seating chart seems like 1000 is pretty high. i count about 500 seats in this chart for the pit (the yellow):

i guess if you remove chairs that amount doubles?

i read that he was "in the moment" as always (as it should be) & right when he was stepping forward to connect w/ the crowd up front, the stage lights went down & in the blackness he went too far & went over the edge of the stage.
that's basically how it went down. Jim was RTFO on a "particularly intense" (according to Patrick) Off The Record. He rocked his way towards the edge of the stage, went to put his foot on the subwoofer/speaker, lights went out, slipped or maybe even missed the subwoofer, and fell offstage and kind of landed on the guard rail.
I have an extra ticket for MPP. Center Orchestra, Row P, Seat 121. PM me if you want it.
I have four tix in the left loge for the Merriweather show. PM me if interested. Gracias!

Thanks for the PM ynwa, but I had my 2 pav tix on ebay for $80 and they went unsold on a 3 day auction. As much as I want to be down in the pit, Im not sure if I can afford pit tix without selling mine first.
I also dont think the demand is really there. Last I heard from nectardan a day or 2 ago, he didnt have any offers for his pit tix and he was selling them below face.

Lotsa questions:
- I might be coming in on a party bus - will this be a problem in the lot? I emailed MPP but want an opinion from someone other than the man. We'll obviously want to tailgate when we get there and don't want to draw unnecessary attention.
- Kentucky Derby posts at 6:24 pm...these are Kentucky boys....shouldn't this be a recipe for success? Shouldn't the doors open by 6:00 so we can all watch on jumbo trons?
- Assuming that's a log shot, ideally our group finds a bus with sat tvs and everyone can come join us in the lot to watch the race, but if we don't get there in enough time, are there any good sports bars between DC and Columbia? or off-track betting places?
- Do we have any idea what time PHJB and then MMJ will come on?
Thanks peeps
Flight and hotel booked at last. ;D
You can Hotwire the Sheraton for $104 total right now - just look for the 3 1/2 star hotel in the Columbia/Jessup area. It's listed at $88 before all the fees.

If you're interested in seeing what the sales situation is currently, ticketfly has a new and improved "pick your seat" option that shows you the whole lowdown with a lot less effort.
I still think your cut n paste job was one of the most inspired things I've seen in a while!

go to buy tickets, after typing in the catcha or whatever that's called, you'll see a screen to pick quantity, price, section.... with a map on the right. Switch "best available" to whaver section you want to see and hit Next.

how will we know which party is the MMJ forum party then?? :(
True dat Bluesky! And I will be playing the bagpipes at our party. Hopefully there won't be too many groups of people with MMJ flags and bagpipers so you can find us Capt. If there are then this is gonna be a sick tailgate party! ;D
It looks like I'll have an extra pair for sale at face.
Center sect row AA by the soundboard.
Pm if you're interested.
I'm trying to get my friend to go, but if he can't I'm going to have an extra pit ticket, but I can't give it away for free. I'm gonna need at least a high five or something.
Thanks Dodobird! You got my back, the bagpipes and you are my ride! Fantastic!!!

For the love of Pete, I still have those two pit tix available. I'm heading out of town, but if you're interested e-mail my friend (totally trustworthy and he'll be at the show)

Thanks! See y'all there (assuming I survive their Jazz Fest set and the PHJB show) ;D Oh, and Jim's Sunday set with PHJB and Terence Blanchard ;D ;D ;D
So this has been bothering for a week or so now, and now that the Birmingham show is done, its bothering me even more. As of right now, for the Merriweather show, gates open at 6:30, the show starts at 8. Assuming PHJB goes on right at 8, and plays for lets say, 30 or 45 minutes. This would mean MMJ might go on at lets say 9:15. Merriweather, from what I understand, has an 11 O'Clock Noise curfew. So does this mean those of us at Merriweather will be getting a shorter MMJ set? It seems they played a solid 2 and a half hours in Bama tonight, and I'm going to be really bummed if the only show I catch on this tour gets a shortened setlist. :'(
Thoughts, Opinions, something to make me feel better? haha. And yes, even if its only 90 minutes I know I should be happy, but considering how long the boys like to play, I will be a bit let down.
Hi everyone! I haven't been on this forum much lately but it's just hit me that this show is just 10 days away. Can't wait to see one of my most favorite bands who I haven't seen since 12/31/08. Hence, why I'm driving to MD from MA when I'll also be seeing them later this year in MA. But I'm a road junkee, and so I'm also looking forward to leaving Massachusetts for a bit, and I have yet to stay in Maryland. I've only seen it from the highway, mainly I-95, though I've also seen some of the western part of the state, which is gorgeous (I'm in love with mountains).

I got tickets for the Hartford and Boston shows, and I'm debating (with myself) going to one of the NY shows. Depends on $$ and how good of a ticket I might find, and a lot of other factors, really. I'm probably not going, I got too much going on. Ahhhh but the final night at MSG is probably going to be INSANE. Damn. I need a doppelganger to live another life for me.

This exact issue has been bothering me (I guess we're both worriers), and now that the tour has started and I see setlists/playtimes, the worry is stronger. In fact I just posted on this topic on another thread.
Friday night's show has the same issue, so I will follow closely what happens there...after that we'll know what to expect. If we're only getting 90 mins of jacket, that will be a bummer, but I'll have a week to get over it and get psyched. It'll still be great regardless and 90 mins is 90 more than I got in 2009 (MOF excluded).
I hold out hope that they will switch the start time to 7:30 which seems like it would pretty much solve the problem, and isn't unusual for a show with an opener......
Yeah, that would be a bummer if its only a 90 minute set
Booked a room at the Sheraton last night. My wife and I are starting a week-long vacation with this show. We can't wait!
It looks walking distance. If we get tired we can rest at the food court in the mall!
It'll be nice to so some socializin' too.
Penny ..... we'll miss you!!
I hoping for more than 90 minutes. I'm sure they'll work something out.
I had these same worries about the St. Auggie show, cause they have a curfew also, but thankfully the start time on those tix say 7:00pm.
QuoteI'm trying to get my friend to go, but if he can't I'm going to have an extra pit ticket, but I can't give it away for free. I'm gonna need at least a high five or something.
I could probably give you 2 high fives and 3 beers
9 more days!! holy smokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hoping that they will figure out the timing so the curfew isn't an issue, but somehow i think all will work out just fine......
Someone email Merriweather and see if we can get some answers!

So far I have no one, so if I still have it, it's yours. Can't promise anything though.

I cant take it anyway - unless I find another single - because I cant leave my friend up in RC Row U. I'll keep a mental note though
Well, I guess I could ::)

I emailed MPP with our question - will report back if I get any response.
This little issue is holding me back from 100% excitement so I'd like to get it cleared up (or at least get over it and mentally prepare for a shorter show). Sure seems like a 7:30 start with a shorter break between bands would solve the problem. I look at the setlist and imagine chopping out 20 - 30 mins and that bums me out for sure.
i've already started drinking...okay not really...
I've already started throwing glowsticks at a cardboard cutout of Jim in my room.
@Ghosts on TV - hahahaha. Glowsticks are a scourge (personal opinion).
Merriweather Post set time is 9 pm. Curfew is 11.
I know two hours is less than some other shows but I'm sure it will be quality to the max, and hopefully this makes some of you feel better knowing that it won't just be 90 min.

Thanks for the update. Definitely a bummer. Was holding out hope for some switched start time but appreciate the info. The band will have to rock 20% harder if the show is 20% shorter!
i sort of wish i didn't know that it's going to be shorter. sometimes ignorance is bliss. you don't miss what you never knew you didn't have. (err, does that even make sense?) wish we weren't getting a shorter set but, i'm sure the boys will blow our minds to bits (repeatedly) within those 2 hours. get psyched!!!
to throw in something about another thread on the poor behavior of some people in the crowd (see what i did there? i didn't call them fans because the true fans would never pull that shit) - can we all try to do our part at stopping the stoopids from being so fucking disrespectful @ MPP? the band does not need to get pelted with glowsticks or other flying objects.

Hell, I'll take 2 hrs of MMJ. Now that we know the glowstick situation, I bet there will be little of it at MPP. Hopefully!!

shoot, i'd even take 1 song & be happy :D
if they switch up the set a little, i can handle a half hour less of rocking out time
Sure, felt a little guilty writting "I am bummed". I agree even 30 mins of MMJ would be worth it. So I hope no-one flames me for saying I'm bummed - I'm still getting 2 hrs of my favorite band after an almost 2 yr break. At an 18k capacity show, I'd have to think there'll be a LOT of people traveling?! I was hoping this was gonna be an epic NYE-type experience. I do wonder why they chose this show for the tour/hotel/package combo thing, if it ends up being a shorter show?!
Still, if YY is reading this, you guys can return my mood to absolute perfection by any ONE of the 3 actions:
a) move the start time to 7:30
b) throw in a Steam Engine
c) announce a North East tour soon
thanks!

Hey, I'll gladly take 2 hours of my favorite band after...exactly 17 months of not seeing them! I cannot wait!!!!!
I think I'll be going in right at 6:30 in hopes of getting on the rail, front and center!
I finally booked a room @ the sheraton! can't wait! Should be sick as nailz

Funny that this is coming up - When I told my wife this whole plan a few months ago, she said "you are spending $___ for a 2 hour concert ?!?!" With my deer-in-the-headlights glazed look, I could only come up with as a comeback "well, it's probably a 3 hr show".
Now if she saw this thread, she'd laugh and say "TOLD YOU it was a 2 hr show".....

Hello all, I'm brand spanking new to the board. I live in the Baltimore area and wanted give my insight on this. The noise curfew in the past has meant that at 11:00 the portion of the PA that's providing sound to the lawn get's suddenly turned down which is kind of shocking ...it almost seems like there is a power outage to those sitting on the lawn... I was out there once and this happend and I said never again ! Pavillion only for this venue for me from that point on..People under the pavillion dont notice a thing just those poor souls on the lawn...Anyway hopefully it will be a full length show ! See you all in the pit !

Good question? I was wondering what time the lot opens? I am read to start the party a.s.a.p. So if I can get in there at noon, that is where I will be. And if the lot doesn't open until later, where is the pre-game going to be?

hah, which lot are we shindiggin' in? Sheraton or MPP?
Quotehah, which lot are we shindiggin' in? Sheraton or MPP?
Im guessing the Sheraton wouldnt let 20+ people be loud and getting drunk in their lot ;D
My buddy has the tix, so Im not sure when the lot opens. Someone who has their tix should check, otherwise we could call. Id assume, especially since its a saturday, it would open at 2PM.
Did we figure out if its cool to drink reebs in the MPP lot as long as we have solo cups or something? I think so, but im not sure
Oooh. I told myself to stay away from MPP posts. Now I want to go. Who cares if the setlist is virtually the same? I'm afraid to even pretend to be kidding and ask the wife. I don't have a ticket or a place to stay. Mapquest says its almost 8.5 hours drive, though I should be able to shave 30-45 mins. off. Fuck, MMJ- you're like a drug.

Tix say doors at 6:30, and that's it.
I would say that there is a 0% of the show going past 11 as Chastain had the same curfew and they cut out a song according to the setlist provided because they were running behind. Will be heading out to the Sheraton around 3ish as I have to work til 6:00 am on Sat unfortunately and need a few hours of sleep.

I am in the same boat. Plane lands at 1:30 - pick up bear costume at luggage claim, rental car, 20 min ride, stop at liquor store.... I will be ready to go by 3. If the pre-game hasn't started by then, pre-pre-game will be at the Sheraton.

You're spot on, mahg33tah! I have asked the wife, I have seen the posts regarding extra tickets, places to stay... That's why I feel tempted to go. But the wife says No and I respect that. I appreciate the offers, but I won't be going. Also, as awesome as the last week was, looking at the way the setlist was so similar, I'm less inclined to risk my marriage to see the same list of 25 songs I saw last week. Just being honest... Honest Man.

I don't have a ticket or a place to stay. Mapquest says its almost 8.5 hours drive, though I should be able to shave 30-45 mins. off. Fuck, MMJ- you're like a drug.
When you make a post like that, clearly you WANT to go and you just need a little shoving.
1. It can't hurt to ask the wife
2. I have extra tix (seriously)
3. You can crash in my hotel room (seriously)
If you didn't want tempting, you wouldn't be poking around in this thread.
Honest Man.
Haha - well, at least I tried!

I have no doubt. I'm about to make one more semi-whiny thred about Merriweather start time, then let it drop and get over it. It's all done under the bigger picture of loving the band. I really can't wait!
are all the shows starting at 9pm?
that just seems late for a start time when doors are at 6:30.
at my home venue, the ampitheater in camden, typically doors are around that time, opener on between 7:00 and 7:15 and done by 7:45 or 8, main act on between 8:15 and 8:30. thats not really unreasonable, and an 11pm curfew is pretty standard.
i know a mod said the 9pm start, but has this been confirmed with someone from mpp? i am just surprised by the late start, its not really necessary.
Quote i am just surprised by the late start, its not really necessary.
That's what's so frustrating.
Come chime in on my new thread (up momentarily) - maybe we can create a groundswell of support!
ps. not only was it confirmed by mod but that's what just happened Friday in Atlanta, venue w/ the same curfew issue. I was watching to see what happened there but when I saw the setlist and heard the reports, I gave up hope.

do all the shows have doors at 6:30? I thought some of the theaters had doors later (or maybe doors were the same and they just came on at 8pm and 9pm respectively).
I am driving down from New Jersey. Where is everyone going to be in the parking lot? I haven't really personally talked to anyone on the forum but I would love to meet everyone and throw back some beers. I am a huge fan so I'm sure I'll fit right in. Please someone let me know! Can't wait until Saturday. :D

I emailed the info people at MPP, as it didn't say anything on my ticket other than gates open at 6:30. I asked what time the lot opens and what the "tailgating policies" are. Will post if I get a response.
MY RESPONSE FROM MPP:
Lots will probably open around 4PM.
No grills, glass containers or alcohol permitted in the lots.
Thanks for checking!
The thing is, I would love to meet you all before the lots open, but unless we go to a bar I imagine that is going to be hard.
My guess is that there isn't a hotel parking lot around that is going to be cool with 30 + MMJ fans drinking beer in their parking lot.
We really just need to find out when the lots open and get there early to grab a prime spot. And if the lots open at 9 a.m. I will be there at 8:30. ;)

Does anyone know how strict they are with this rule? That is pretty much the stated policy everywhere... And if the lots don't open until 4, we need to find another place to meet before hand. I am ready to start the party at noon. ;D

The lot at the Sheraton is probably the best place to pre-game. And if they give us trouble for drinking outside we could always go up to our rooms. But I would say lets meet in the Sheraton parking lot. I am giving BlueSky a ride down. She has the flag and I have my bagpipes. We should be there around 2pm. So Lets plan to start the tailgate party around 3pm. So when you hear the pipes a playing and see the flag a waving start a walking with your coolers of beer! :D
Sound good all?
That works for me. My flight gets in around noon I think. See you there!
(can't wait to see the flag and pipes! I'm proud to be part of such a creative group of fans! :))
Sounds great! Coming from Jersey and should get there around 3.

Was I the only one who saw this post?! This person seems to know what theyre talking about. Has anyone else who has actually been to MPP said they unequivocally shut down the show at 11PM????
What kind of venue was ATL? If if was an indoor one within city limits, that makes sense if they had to stop it at 11PM because thats a city ordinance. Im pretty sure MPP will be in the middle of nowhere like any amphitheater. I think the amphitheater outside of Pittsburgh has an 11PM "curfew", but last summer Phish was playing until 1145PM.

Yo... I asked this question over on Phantank.com (great board btw - check it out) As phish has played there quite a bit.
I was told that the lots open real early, and that you are fine if you put the alcohol in a plastic cup.
http://www.phantank.com/showthread.php?229-Ever-been-to-the-Merriweather-Post-Pavillion
EVERY PLACE I CAN THINK OF, has a no alcohol policy and that never pans out... They are going to tell you no alcohol, no grills, no fun ect -but they don't police any of that unless you are being a problem. Just be smart. BTW, what is the address to the Sheraton? I am staying with a friend!
i agree w/ jd - every venue has a "no alcohol" policy for their lot. and for the most part, as long as you're not being a jackass, security will leave ya be. i think the staff probably HAVE to recite the official policy if anyone inquires. i vote we play it safe & go w/ solo cups. i've got said cups & will try to remember a sharpie for names - waste not! hopefully i'll also have some treats but may need a little help from a friend w/ a vehicle to dispense.
don't think the sheraton will be too jazzed about a massive party going down in their lot. (even though it'd be the most awesomest lot party ever...) that'd probably be the kind of thing they'd call the cops on. maybe i'm just paranoid. also, as much a i love the glorious sound of bagpipes - i don't think they'd fly in the hotel rooms or lot. but i love the imagery of us parading to MPP w/ the flag & pipes leading the way - pied piper style!
gates definitely say 6:30pm on my tix, but nothing about what time the lot opens. i think we're gonna need a runner or 2 (NOT IT!) to go over & check things out on the day. the best option is probably a massive tailgait there, IF they let us in early enough.
i think it was said a while back but we'll probably need some folks to drive over w/ the coolers & cordon off a nice sized area. i guess who would depend on 1) who will be sober to do the driving & 2) whoever gets to the hotel early enough. the rest would parade over en masse or if you're cutting it really close time-wise, head to MPP directly the look for the blue & yellow bear flag.
holy smokes, i sound like such a bossy-boots (i promise i'm not like this) sorry! but there's just all sorts of shit flying around & we need an action plan.
What about the Sheraton as a sort of "staging area" so we can all head over to MPP at the same time to stake out a massive tailgating area?

That is crazy -- 1 hour? No way! We will get some partying in for sure - whether at the Sheraton or the Lot, there will be a party with a flag and bagpipes!
QuoteWhat about the Sheraton as a sort of "staging area" so we can all head over to MPP at the same time to stake out a massive tailgating area?
This is probably the best plan, although with a bunch of people making long drives to get there, I suspect thatll make this difficult.
I plan on getting there around 2PM and hope to go in ASAP. I really dont believe the gates wont open until 530PM, that just doesnt allow enough time for all the traffic to make it in. Even 4PM sounds questionable.
Maybe whoever could be at the Sheraton at 2PM can caravan over to the lot at that time?? Id assume we'd have at least a handful of cars, so we'd be able to get 5 cars or so in a row to give ourselves a nice size area.

Yo yo! I have made the headbands but didn't make a lot, I have other screen printing projects to work on so I was only able to make a dozen or so. 3 for me and my two buddies 5 for the band 3 for my family (the "get funky" headband is sort of a family tradition so I thought I would make them some) If I can I'll try to make more.

I think the best place to meet up and start the party is at the Sheraton in the parking lot. I doubt they will give us any trouble but if they do then we can move the party to the parking lot at MPP. I plan to be ready to go around 3pm with my bagpipes and a beer. Since the MPP lot doesn't open till 4pm we should start at the hotel anyway. We are all adults. Lets not worry about cops or people from the hotel telling us what to do. As long as we are respectful and not too crazy we will be just fine.
Looking forward to Saturday!

Did anyone here ever consider that maybe it's out of their hands? Jesus.
hey I hope it is out there hands. But someone said phish started there show earlier at the mpp. I just done understand on a Saturday night why they have to have such a late start time. I'm pretty sure Camden has a 11 or 1130 curfew and most shows headliners there will go on by 830.
are we allowed to bring in poster tubes?
What is the address at the sheraton that you guys are meeting at?
as has been posted and debated, i decided to e-mail mpp myself to confirm the reports. here is their response.

Now that's a fine question...
I sometimes bring a plastic sleeve just in case they won't allow the tube in.

Interesting. When they responded with this I wrote the following e-mail:
"Thank you for the quick response. 9pm seems late for the main act to come on compared to other ampitheaters.
Thanks again for the information."
which they surprisingly responded with this:
"The bands send us their times, not the other way around!!"
so that answers that question.
CHECK THIS OUT ABOUT THE LOTS....
I have been chatting with some of the MPP Regulars over on Phantasytour and here is what one user had to say...
"In my experience the lots are pretty much open all day long, i have shown up as early as 12 for Phish and other shows. Its just that you may be one of only a few people there for a long time until the crowd gets going"
And another...
"Yea the lot gates are almost always open. I could go there now and the lots will probably be open."
My guess is, they don't really have a way to close them to begin with...

Who ever is organzing the get together at the sheraton, if you are cool with pm'ing me your cell, I will let you know when I get there if the lots are in fact open or not. I say we get the party started as early as possible. I have been waiting months for this! :D
I was going to say that as well, anyone want to pm me thier cell number, and I'll give you mine? When I get to the lots I don't really want to wander around looking for people. I won't sext you, I promise. Well, I might.
Looks like promising news jd! People in that thread still seem questionable on the beer situation, and that would suck to get there early and have the cops tell you no, but I'll keep my hopes up. If theyre basically open all the time, I'll probably head over around 1 or 2 and get the party started
From my experience at MPP drinks are fine, but you have to have plastic cups no open cans or bottles if I remember correctly. The security and police don't really bother you unless you are creating a scene or problems.

I think it looks good... Here is what a MPP regular had to say.
"If your of age your fine in the lots for drinking! They wont make you dump your beer out! God Im so sick of hearing this shit every year! Merriweather was awesome then around 2000 they started being dicks and didnt care how old you were! The past few years since its been under new ownership the cops have settled down. Just make sure its in a cup! Ive been to tons of shows there and have never had a problem. The only people that have problems are the jack asses smokin in the lot and underage drinkers."
Yeah, thats why im optimistic.
Ive been reading the Bourbon drinkers thread over on PT since you linked that...Might have to make some mint juleps on saturday since its derby day ;D
QuoteQuoteas has been posted and debated, i decided to e-mail mpp myself to confirm the reports. here is their response.
"Opening act goes on at 8 and
Headliner at 9.
Times subject to change."

The mod said that the band did all they could to move the start time earlier. So, what the MPP person told you may or may not be true. I'd love to think the "subject to change" means it might, but I don't think that's happening.

I'm hapy to volunteer my hotel room as a pre-pre party if we are ready to go at 2 and the lot is not.

I think the truth is somewhere in between. Clearly its not MPP policy that the opener start at 9pm. Not only does that not make sense logically, but there are examples of that not happening at that venue (Phish) or other similar venues.
I also don't think the boys would just shorten the show for the hell of it though, so again, its probably something logistical between the band, venue, traveling, etc.
I'm going to need someone to tell me how early I must line up to get in the front 2 or 3 rows in the PIT. We're driving down from NJ, probably leaving about 11:30ish.
I'm already here, I'll save you a spot. ;)

I'm leaving at around 10 from Nassau County, NY. :D
That's Great, glad it worked out!
QuoteQuoteDoes anyone (ALady, bluesky) plan to stay at the hotel? Pennylane mentioned awhile back that there was a room booked through her and I wasn't sure if the space is open. My plans to stay with friends nearby fell through, so I'll probably end up booking a room.
PM me. I'll pitch in $$$, obviously.
Ky, I have a room. You're all good, girl.
Yo we got this shit sticky topic!
I'd like to truly thank RockburnPark for hooking a brother up with extra GA tix for Saturday. Thanks to her, my little brother who just flew in from Seoul, will be able to join our crew with a friend of his for his first Jacket Experience. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Whoa! That's awesome!!!
And yay for the sticky! ;D I feel like that means IT'S ON. :D

Haha, i feel special for attending this stickied show.
Something tells me that even though this show is gonna be shorter, it's going to be special. Word.
You get all sticky and now your shit don't stink! Well, well, well. Looky here. We got us some MPP snobs. Oy!

Don't blame us cause we're better than you :P ;D
We're not sticky anymore! CC, D, sticky this shit back up!
I'm hoping that Jim and the boys realize that this show is going to have a lot of people traveling from all over the northeast for their closest show, and put on an extra-special face-melting extravaganza.
ACOUSTIC CHORALE ENCORE, PLEASE.

Sorry, man. It was a technical glitch. Something tells me you guys will keep it at the top of the queue.

sounds like a bunch of us will be rolling in around the same time :)
if you haven't seen it, check out the new thread re: official mpp tailgate.
it's ON for sure!
QuoteQuoteHow true are these reports of the band not starting until 9? I understand if the curfue is at 11 pm. You havetheopener on at 7 and mmj at 8. This news is not good news. I saw them last year at penns lament and they went on exactly at 8 pm on the dot and played till 1045-11. Please don't tell me theband is already selling out and performing shorter shows. I didn't realize I was seeing kings of Leon perform.
the old Magh33ta was worked up about this but the new Magh33ta is over this. Accept it and get psyched for concentrated MMJ goodness. A wise man once said "little we can do, we gonna see it through somehow....." It's helped my mood considerably. That and all the pregame talk today.
glad to hear this - it's gonna be awesome!
Hey can someone give me start time info? I want to go see them in NC on Friday, but I work until 10:30pm, maybe a little later. Anyone know if I'll be able to catch maybe half a set?

I went to the record store to pick up a new pair of earplugs for this weekend and guess who they were playing when I walked in? :)

I hate it when I walk into a record store and they play All American Rejects. ;D
