I'm coming down from Pennsylvania, most likely with a few friends.  Can't wait!  :D

It's a 25-35 minute drive from Columbia to Towson via the Beltway (depending on how fast you drive).

I saw MMJ back in 06 when they opened for Pearl Jam, but I had no idea who they were.  Now they are my favorite band... So this is kind of like my first MMJ show.  Super pumped!

re: curfew - it seems like a few of the venues on this tour have the same issue.  it'd be great if they could play a long epic show but i'm willing to settle for just an epic show of medium length - quality not quantity  :P

also, since you seem familiar w/ this venue - i've been reading on here that there's a strict "no tailgating" policy as well.  is that strictly enforced as well or is it like in, say giants stadium - where as long as your spread doesn't take up any add'l parking spaces they just look the other way.  other places you can't blatantly be drinking (bottle or cans) but those red plastic cups are ok... things like that.

just wondering if this is one of the reasons for the pre-party thing.

On the positive, Merriweather i think has a great vibe and i've seen really great shows there. The venue is kind of in the woods so its chill.

Oh yeah, traffic blows getting in so get there early so no hassle.

I was just checking that out on their site.  I couldn't find anyplace to register or set up an acct.  Maybe you have to do so when purchasing the tiks.

this one.  More great seats at this venue than most.  Don't sell your soul for a spot on the far side of the orhestra pit when a center seat in like row 15 is way better.  Saw oasis from a spot like that at merriweather in like 2006 and it was great

this venue is amazing. you will love it. sometimes they do general admission pavillion but thats usually for festivals. the floor which is a little small is general admission but trust me when i say, there is no bad seat under the pavillion. avoid the lawn. it sucks balls!

It can take quite some time to get into the venue.  There is usually a huge line, stretching from the entrance to Route 29.  I'd definately get there early if you don't want to sit in your car for any length of time.

I think they are the tickets that are reserved for family members/friends and radio stations, etc.  Some of those may become available as the concert nears, according to Ticketfly's website.

I am in the same situation. I have 2 GA tickets and 2 Pavilion RC Row N. Not sure which ones i wanna use. I was 2 or 3 rows back at the Philly concert Sept 08 and it was unreal. Only problem is that my lower back can't take standing for hours at a time. So it was like simultaneous euphoria and pain.

Had reserved seating at NYE MSG and it just wasn't the same experience. Great show, but afterward my face had only minor burns, not complete meltage like in Philly.

Its a tough decision...but one I'm glad i get to make.

People were pulling pit tickets like 2 1/2 hours after they went on sale.  I was on right at 10 and had no problem whatsoever.

thanks guys, I owe a lot of it to Kory and his epic camera work, the lighting on the photo I used just worked so well for the effect I used on it.  I'm going to start looking into how much it would cost to get these printed if enough people are interested, also see if its fine if I do that or if it should be going through the bands website.  I'll keep folks posted.  maybe we could get a teeshirt role call going to see if there is enough interest or I should hit the drawing board again.

I just read this.  My and my buddy will be riding in a compact but in all honesty, if you guys need a ride, it won't be a problem.  No more than two ladies ;D

i personally don't care b/c i'm tall, but my gf is not tall and doesn't like the claustrophobic feeling of random people packed around her.  she'll be fine as long as there is some space which is what i was checking.  i figure as long as they regulate the people coming in, then it will be fine.  i was afraid tons of people could stub down and then it could turn into a mess.  

no offense to those that didn't get into the pit and planned on stubbing down.  i've stubbed down plenty of times to better seats.  

also, looking at the seating chart seems like 1000 is pretty high.  i count about 500 seats in this chart for the pit (the yellow):

Hello all, I'm brand spanking new to the board. I live in the Baltimore area and wanted give my insight on this. The noise curfew in the past has meant that at 11:00 the portion of the PA that's providing sound to the lawn get's suddenly turned down which is kind of shocking ...it almost seems like there is a power outage to those sitting on the lawn... I was out there once and this happend and I said never again ! Pavillion only for this venue for me from that point on..People under the pavillion dont notice a thing just those poor souls on the lawn...Anyway hopefully it will be a full length show !  See you all in the pit !

You're spot on, mahg33tah!  I have asked the wife, I have seen the posts regarding extra tickets, places to stay...  That's why I feel tempted to go.  But the wife says No and I respect that.  I appreciate the offers, but I won't be going.  Also, as awesome as the last week was, looking at the way the setlist was so similar, I'm less inclined to risk my marriage to see the same list of 25 songs I saw last week.  Just being honest... Honest Man.

I emailed the info people at MPP, as it didn't say anything on my ticket other than gates open at 6:30.  I asked what time the lot opens and what the "tailgating policies" are.  Will post if I get a response.

Lots will probably open around 4PM.
No grills, glass containers or alcohol permitted in the lots.

You're spot on, mahg33tah!  I have asked the wife, I have seen the posts regarding extra tickets, places to stay...  That's why I feel tempted to go.  But the wife says No and I respect that.  I appreciate the offers, but I won't be going.  Also, as awesome as the last week was, looking at the way the setlist was so similar, I'm less inclined to risk my marriage to see the same list of 25 songs I saw last week.  Just being honest... Honest Man.

Yo... I asked this question over on Phantank.com (great board btw - check it out) As phish has played there quite a bit.

I was told that the lots open real early, and that you are fine if you put the alcohol in a plastic cup.

EVERY PLACE I CAN THINK OF, has a no alcohol policy and that never pans out...  They are going to tell you no alcohol, no grills, no fun ect -but they don't police any of that unless you are being a problem.  Just be smart.  BTW, what is the address to the Sheraton?  I am staying with a friend!

The mod said that the band did all they could to move the start time earlier.   So, what the MPP person told you may or may not be true.   I'd love to think the "subject to change" means it might, but I don't think that's happening.

the old Magh33ta was worked up about this but the new Magh33ta is over this.    Accept it and get psyched for concentrated MMJ goodness.   A wise man once said "little we can do, we gonna see it through somehow....."  It's helped my mood considerably.   That and all the pregame talk today.
