Thought this might be kinda interesting, to see how the merchandise has evolved over the years.
If you have an old shirt, take a pic and post it, and if you know when you got it, label it, so we can watch the shirts evolve over time.

I really wish they'd had the bats design at the Astoria show, I love that t-shirt.
I was just thinking about making this same exact topic, I will post some pics of shirt a lil lata, I would definatley like to see the eclectic variety that exists out there

Kopilot ( a local store) could do it... I think you could extract the black portion of that logo (it looks the cleanest) and just reproduce the red or print on red shirts. Kopilot is cheap and does small runs, we'd be throwing a little support to Danny Cash as well...
They'll do a minimum of 10 shirts (one color) and they are 5 bucks each. No setup or screen charges...
If we could get approval to reproduce that image, we'd need a few more people to commit to paying 5 dollars. I can get the image ready for them and handle all the delivery...
Who do we need to ask, CC?

I'll roll over to Kopilot tomorrow and see if I can talk to Danny or something... I'll probably take two myself.
Bermuda,
you think red or black? I'm thinking red...
I'll take an XXL (or XL)!
Count me in on this :)

I would prefer red but I don't really care. It would be great either way. If they can only do one color, you could just do the letters in black with the rest of the black, eh?

yea, that's what I was thinking as well... I'll call or swing in there tomorrow hopefully, I think if you and I could possibly want 2 each and a couple others and popped in to claim one, we could easily find homes for 4-6 more shirts... I could ship for around 2 bucks I would think? 7 dollars for a kick ass tshirt!
I'll take (buy) one ;D
Kopilot would definately be more affordable than I would... printing those Okonokos shirts of mine put me pretty deep in the hole when it was all said and done.
Does the logo need to be touched up or even redrawn? What's the situation with that?

I was going to try and remove the red and clean up the black but I haven't had time to do it yet... if you're good at that sort of thing and offering, give it a go. Id think a 5-6 inch circle on the shirt would be a good size...
I'll go ahead and get it redrawn tonight, if can... that way you'll have an absolutely clean template for Kopilot to work with. It's probably not a big deal... but hey.
Team Work! I love it.

Awesome, thanks AE! I would have been playing with a fire I know little about... I getting kinda excited about this endeavor...
can someone explain the image? is there a story behind it? who are the folks in the shot?
It's the devil and your daughter/little sister. :o
They've come to take me to hell ;)
I'll take one!!! Medium if possible.
if this works out, we may have to get more than ten...
I'll wait to hear from Brad about the image, and then go chat w/ Kopilot. I love this community!
Me 2!
How does this look, folks? There are very minor differences between the original and my re-inking - but if you can't make them out, why spoil it for ya, right? I can make edits if necesarry.
This reminds me of the O's in Okonokos... Pretty cool, actually.
Brad, that looks great! Can I get that a bit larger to take down to Danny tomorrow? Also, can you letter neatly around it, like the sticker?
Sorry to ask but I'd probably butcher it.
What would you guys think about white text on a red shirt? Should we stick with the black?
Thanks!
I need your e-mail, so that I can send you a nice high res for the folks down at Kopilot. Don't use these downsized versions - it'd ruin the whole point of me re-inking it, ya know?
Anyway, the lettering isn't anything overly fancy, but it sort of matches the style of the logo, I think...
Again, I can make edits, let me know.

I figured you as a ringer since the laundromat shirt-jacking.
For the record, the negative image doesn't really look good to me, the design just wasn't made to be turned into a negative image...

Personally, I think this scheme looks pretty good (matched from the original sticker)...
Red shirt + deep navy/purple ink...

BAD FUCKING ASS!
Ver Nice!
Ok, headed down to kopilot around lunchtime today and talked to the woman there. She was concerned about the copyright of the original sticker, and rightfully so... I told her what the plan was and that we (internet folks) thought it best to ask Danny since he was right there in the city.
She took the printoff of the image and got my name and number and said she'd talk to Danny tonight and that it'd probably not be a problem but they'd talk to Jim..... !!!?
I told her we'd probably want 10-20 red shirts with a dark colored ink. I like Brads idea of dark purple or navy blue instead of black.
Ok... let's step back for a minute and take this into perspective.
Brad, I'm pretty sure Jim is going to see your design! If not, he'll see it at a concert on one of us...
I don't know about you but this will probably be my closest communication with Jim or members of the band... (besides waiting tables with Pat before he took the gig full time)
Does anyone else get the feeling that mmj thinks on a much smaller level? It feels like it's so open to communitcation and you could just talk to any one of them like a person on the street. I've gathered that from some of your stories as well. I really dig how down to earth they are.
I'll be in touch...
Shouldn't the ink be black like the OKONOKOS circles? No big deal, either way it kicks ass.
Does the copyright matter if it isn't sold for a profit? I guess it still does.
I think the red with dark blue would be pretty awesome. And yes I want one for sure! They look great.
I'm sure the copyright situation will not be an issue, so long as nobody is really making any sort of profit off of the effort. If anything, I could see the band wanting to somehow turn this into a charitable thing.

Best idea yet! Let's pay $15 to copilot and all the extra proceeds can go to Danny's charity. Everyone wins. We get kick ass shirts for a great price, we all can do something good as a result of our friendship and Danny won't even have to shave his head!
I want in on this, too.
Please. :)
Well it is the Christmas Season, so this is the best time of year to raise money for any sort of awareness... I'm totally clueless when it comes to putting together a successful fund raiser, but I could always offer myself up for auction or something.

You're on to something... this could solve the problem I forsee with taking orders and getting a run of shirts then more people want them or we get too many and are stuck with some... anyone else think this is a cool idea? If so I can run it by them when the call me back with the copyright verdict...
Lets do it! Anytime we can tack on charity to this kind of stuf is great!
i would think any issues of copyright would have to do with what of the old stuff the band retained the rights to vs what the new label got the rights to when switching over.
in some situations like this even if the band members dont mind the label can still say no. if there is a copyright issue even if YOU were not selling them for profit danny could run into legal issues printing them because his print shop IS a for profit buisness.
i have a couple of shirts not shown here yet. ill see if i can get some pics up tomorrow.
Its probably safe to say this is the only fundraiser where you get a shirt with satan on it :)

Wow, guys! It's crazy seeing all those old t-shirt designs again. You've even got stuff I totally forgot I did, Riny. Thanks for posting all this stuff. Good times! Great oldies!
Sorry about not being able to reprint that devil/girl design. As it is technically property of the band, it's kind of a sticky legal issue. Plus, I'd just feel too weird bootlegging the stuff that we used to sell legit back in the day when I was in the band, yet no longer being with the band, but still doing occasional design work......and uh.....so on and so forth and blah blah blah. You get what I'm saying.
I'm not really sure how the band feels about it. They might be totally cool with reprinting or bootlegging stuff; I have no idea. But as the owner of a print shop, I deal with issues like this all the time. MMJ stuff has specifically come up before. So here's the Kopilot take on it:
We can't print anything with the band name, logo, copywritten images or materials, etc. on it (and neither should any other printer, really). But we can print fan-based materials, as long as it's not for profit or mass distribution. For example: a small order of shirts for a party that say something like "I Love The Jacket" would be fine. Or shirts for that JacketFest thing they're doing in Horse Cave or wherever......totally doable. And if it's for some sort of MMJ-related charity event, you know I'm down. But copywritten, trademarked or otherwise protected and/or licensed images are a definite "no-no".
(Kinko's has pamphlets if you're into reading lengthy legal babble about this sort of thing.)
But yeah.....thanks again for the memories! I don't read or post much on here, so I tend to make 'em long. Sorry. But I'll check back with you dudes in about a year or so. You know.....to see if you're all doing okay, ask about how your kids are doing in school, see if your mom's alright, get back that hedge trimmer I loaned you, etc.
Later,
- Sarge
thanks for the input, Danny. I'll probably be hitting you up for t-shirts for the second annual jacketfest next year.
you did some great work for the jacket over the years. My favorite posters you did were the one for the planetarium show and the one for the show at the kentucky motor speedway that never happened.
unfortunately i was not smart or wealthy enough back in the day to collect the t-shirts or posters and I'm kicking myself for it now.
good to hear from ya. check back in a year or so and i might have that log splitter you let me borrow.
p.s. you so much like slash in the pic above it's scary. i can't believe the nickname Slash Cash never caught on.
