I'm on my way from ky. I love this venue.

Im there. Anyone driving south through Toledo? Maybe from Detroit or Chicago?

OK, your going. :)

So are you... :)
Myself + 2 others.
I'll be coming from Pittsburgh.
Anyone from the 2008 Detroit show coming to this one??
I'll be there with a group of 8.
I started a countdown on my desktop, this will literally be on my mind until it comes.

Yep! That's the plan. Can't wait!
I'm in.
I live like 5 minutes from the venue, anyone 420 friendly is welcome to come smoke with a bunch of MMJ fans before the show, we'll be pre-gaming.
We're probably going to go to the show early though to get a good spot.
I'm in, assuming I can get tickets.
Edit: This was post #1111. How awesome is that?
Gotta' git them ticks this morning!!!
Got my ticket. Listening to Okonokos on vinyl.
Saturday morning status = thumbs up.
Got them! :D
I'm in!!

I got the just after 10. I can't wait for May to come.
I'll see you all there. 8-) I'll be brining a friend of mine who's never seen an MMJ show before.
Can't afford to buy tickets until next Friday...this is killing me! Not sure how fast they're selling? Anyone know?! Will I be ok?
Pardon the minor bug out... The website says Merriweather tickets go on sale at 10 am on 2/19. Was there a presale or are folks saying they've bought tickets to a different show(s)?
I'll be coming from Bodymore, Murdaland, and want to make sure I get my paws on some tickets ASAP.
...ha. I thought this thread was Columbia (MD), not Columbus. Sorry for the pump fake...
QuoteCan't afford to buy tickets until next Friday...this is killing me! Not sure how fast they're selling? Anyone know?! Will I be ok?
I think you will be ok since the venue is fairly large and not so sure about the hard core fan base in Columbus...
i'll be there with possibly 6 others. 8-)
Not sure yet. How fast are tix going? They went on sale right in the middle of the snow storm and power outage.
I'm down... I'll be coming from louisville
I'm somewhat confused about how seating will work out at the lifestyle community pavilion. It says that it's GA but i know that there are seats. Is it just first come first serve?
From what I remember about the one show I attended there the seats were midway up for season ticket holders, groups etc. You can easily move from the GA pit to lawn seating and back and forth.
It's GA. It's a great venue inside and out.

Awesome. It'll be worth the trip.
What will MMJ play this time around? I'm sure it'll be a great mix since they have a nice jazz band backing them.
Yeah really interested to see how the band sounds with The Preservation Hall band mixed in. Can't wait should be a good show.
Wit, preservation is playing WITH them? That kinda sucks, this is my first show. In my mind it sounded like okonokos. I hope its good.

They'll only be sitting in on some songs. Don't worry, the Jacket live is always a life affirming experience (especially your first). As for me, I'm seeing Yeasayer the night before in Toronto, and then thinking of making the trek down to Columbus. I dunno if I'll be able to pull it off, but I'm fiending hard for some live MMJ!!!

Anyone staying over night in a hotel?
Maybe a little west of town...last time I stayed in London, OH.
I used priceline last time and got a 4 star room at the hyatt I beleive for 50 and less than 60 after taxes and everything. I will be doing this again because we walked to the show. See you there.

On the above map, the "A" balloon is the Gordon Biersch Brewery, where my wife and I had a few brews before the last MMJ Columbus show. Just to the west of the brewery is the LC Pavilion (corner of Neil and Broadbelt), so it's easy walking distance. Columbus Brewing Company has better beer, IMO, but they are not within walking distance. If you zoom out a few notches on that map, you'll see an area south of the venue, and just south of I70/71, listed as Brewery District and Scioto Audobon Metro Park. This Brewery District is where the CBC is, as well as maybe one or two other breweries (maybe Hoster Brewing?) and restaurants. Elsewhere, in the downtown/Short North area, there is the Elevator Brewery, and Barley's Brewing. Lots of choices, some a further walk than others, and others a quick cab ride away from the venue.

A Hyatt within walking distance? That is a BIG maybe...
Also, last time there seemed to be a bar open up the stairs and to the left upon entering the venue... :)
just got a room on priceline at the mariot on gay st. for 59.67. I bid 45 for a 3,4,5 star hotel in the downtown area 6 I think. And we always go to Ted's to get a bison burger and a beer before shows here. It's .7 miles from the venue.

You are very welcome. As I said, I like the Columbus Brewing Co. brews better than Gordon Biersch. With my tastes, I guess that's expected. I prefer the India and American Pale Ales any day over the Hefeweizen, Marzen and Bocks. Not that they're bad at all, they tasted mighty fine before the last MMJ show in Columbus! Just personal preference. The only other one I've tried is the Elevator, although I don't really remember specifics as it was a long time ago.

So is anyone meeting up in Columbus? I'm staying at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown and will be there from Saturday afternoon until Monday morning. Would love to share a cocktail with the ppl of the forum!
I will also be staying at the Mariott downtown, but won't be there till Sunday around noon. We alway's go to Ted's and eat and have a drink before we go to the venue. It's kind of our tradition. It's across the street. Hope to see you there. I love this venue. That's why we drive 3 hours to get there.

Ted's looks legit.
You know of anywhere to catch some live music that Saturday? I've looked around a bit but haven't found anything to sweet.
I have seen a couple other groups doing beer swaps and was wondering if anyone was interested? I am coming from the NW indiana area so Leinenkugels or Goose Island are very tasty. Or could even get some from the local brewery (Lafayette Brew Co.) Let me know its my birthday weekend so lets have some fun!!
I'm down for the beer swapping! I should even have some home-brews to bring!!! :D :D Shall we start a list, so we have less/no duplicates, or should we just be surprised? The only thing is, if I drink before a show, I have to...let's just say I have a pretty small bladder. How are the bathrooms at this venue, anyone know? Long lines, long walk, etc? Otherwise, I may need to bring some "other" forms of enhancement.
I have had no problems with bathroom or beer lines at this venue.

i'm getting off a ship on saturday and oughta be home sunday for the insanity that will ensue at promowest. THANKS FOR THE COUNTDOWN!!!
Critical hyperventilation everytime I daydream about the show.... which calculates roughly to every 1.33333333 seconds, repeating.
The love of my life, my old Buick, has just recently broken down to a point of no plausible return.... and I'm hoping, if I have a new car by showtime, to dress her up in my morning jacket. (shameless pun) Er... at least a sticker that may say so to the world! A decal of an unforgettable moment in history.
It would be our first showtrip together, Pitt. to Columbus for the Jacket... what a fine way to break the ice & acquaint us!! We'll just listen to them the whole way there and sing at the top of our lungs on the open road....
I realize I might be scaring readers with my vehicular love here, & there's a chance I may just be using a rental hahha so I'm gonna just finish by saying thanks again for the counter, and my heart can't wait to.... meet you on the otherrrr siiiiiiide [smiley=cool.gif]
Im driving from Pittsburgh too.
Does anyone know if anyone will record this concert?
Nice nice, another Pittsburgher makin' the trek! I sincerely, sincerely hope there will be at least someone taping. Would definitely pay for a copy & buy 'em some drinks to boot!
Does anyone know Promowest's videocam policy?? I'm considering taking my mom's semi-clunky vidcam to tape some memories to have and to hold!
The Dude, are you headin to the show pretty early Sunday? I'll be headin up as early as I can get myself movin... do you know anyone else from Pitt that's headin to the show? We should have a Pittsburgh mmj meetup or some-such.
Wonder if any of the Columbus head shops are open on Sunday... always a joy to check those out with Pitt being so anal about 'em.

For some reason above and beyond my control, I was not graced with knowing them yet.... I've since downloaded the '04 one but did not even know they were here in '03 MAN what was I doing.. And a Jim, M. Ward, and Conor show at Laga in '04 I now see too, now that I'm lame and had to READ about the shows instead! Are the '03 one and the Laga one floatin' around anywhere to download?? Were you there???? Did you bear witness!!! :o
As for the venue in OH, I've actually only been to the 'indoor' side... I've never gotten to check the pavillion out! It's about time, I've been there more than some spots in Pitt! But I'm not certain at all about their weather situation OR their smoke-friendliness levels outside either.... I feel like they've been pretty chill about it in the inside building though (considering it's non-smoking indoors), so I'd like to see that demeanor stay consistent between the venues!
Let me know about those Pitt shows!
Also, mdc24, I follow sports about as well as I follow politics (which we'll just say is poorly) so I will not be gamin' it, but I wish I knew there would be a game that day, as I might've been able to use that as bait to entice some of my friends to come with me! They're a tough sell, trying to get them into MMJ... keep burning them stuff to listen to, but their moments-of-understanding haven't clicked yet for some reason :-/
I feel like I've written an absurd amount, sorry all! I'm also not sure if any of it was useful, but with..... 2 DAYS, 16 HOURS, 28 MINUTES, AND SOME ODD SECONDS UNTIL THE SHOW, I AM MORE RILED UP THAN EVER!!! :o
I agree with woodnymph's last paragraph. I'm literally wide awake right now, all I can think about is Columbus. I don't think I'll feel easy until I leave Chicago on Saturday.
Starting to seem a little surrealistic...we gotta send some good weather vibes to Da'Ville and Columbus this weekend. :)
woodnymph, the two pittsburgh shows I've seen were on 2003 MMJ opened for Foo Fighters. Which was an odd match up. The played songs like One Big Holiday and a few from "At Dawn" Still to this day i can't find a recording of that show, but they rocked hard cause everyone wanted to see the Foo Fighters, which that night were "okay". I was a new MMJ fan at that time and no one I knew, knew MMJ. I then saw them at Mr Smalls a year later in june 04. Great show, got Jim's set list!! that live boot is really awesome I was right in front of Jim and it was so chill there, great show.
I did not get to see the Jim M Ward and Conar show. I really wish i did, but I wasnt able to go. I heard it was amazing. The last time I saw MMJ was the Detroit show in 08. Anyone go to that? Great version of "run thru"
I can not wait till tomorrow....hello Ohio!! 8-)
So are we going to get a downpour to the likes of Bonnaroo '04 and '08? Part of me wants the weather to cooperate but the other part wants it to downpour, epic-ness seems to really come out of these guys in those situations. God, I need to get off this board until Columbus, I can't get any work done.

I was thinking that too. But coming off all the Derby parties in Louisville, and having been to the Bonaroo '04 and '08 sets, this time as a listener/viewer I would like to have a peaceful, relaxing hot and sunny outdoor Jacket concert. Epic is one thing, but comfort will be important on this one.
On the other hand, it does look like it will pour from the heavens, and maybe that kind of cleansing will be good for the detox my soul needs, so...evs.

I've only taken in outdoor shows here from the lawn, and from my experience, I would not say security is smoke friendly at all. If you're careful, you should be fine (i.e don't go flaunting that shit). The last time MMJ played here, I saw security round up several folks who had just blazed up. It got a little better as the show wore on, but they cased the lawn pretty good throughout the night. Again, be careful and use a spotter!
So...are we meeting up beforehand?! Where at? Let's get something organized. I don't really have any suggestions, not knowing the city and all. A few people mentioned Ted's...any thoughts? Otherwise, a meeting area at the venue? Exchange of phone #'s (via PM of course)? I'm only coming with one other person (a noob), so it would be nice to meet up with a group!

I'm down to meet up with you wonderful forum folks for sure! I'm familiar with Columbus but not the best at navigating it, and I don't know much outside of the Arena District and High St... I'd say probably a good idea would be a general venue meeting area, 'cept I've only been indoors and don't fully know where the outside area is, as far as getting in line, etc..... anyone else ideas???
This venue seems very unique with the indoor/outdoor setup, f*ck I can't wait!!!!!
Hoppin' on a plane in a few hours, I want to be sleeping but honestly can't, haha.
And as far as meeting up, I'd love to meet some swell folks from the MMJ forum so count me in on some cocktails.
I hope the rain holds up for the show, but that's wishful thinking.
I hope they play Steam Engine or phone went west.
I always have loved phone went west.
They played Phone at this venue last time and it was probably the best version I had heard...
QuoteThey played Phone at this venue last time and it was probably the best version I had heard...
i second this. loved it last time they played that here.
Shaved and shined. Going to leave in about an hour. Check in at the Crowne Plaza, relax, and then HEAD TO THE VENUE>>> :)
Jusk listening to MMJ while waiting for the show in not so many hours. Can't wait. Interested to see if they play a longer show tonight as this venue does not really enforce a strict curfew. Have seen Gov't Mule play to midnight at this venue and hope they will run late tonight as well.
Does anyone know if the thunder/lightning that's expected could cancel/postpone this thing? I am driving from pretty far away (3.5 hours) and I don't want to have wasted the trip. Thanks!
*Jim, megaphone, and yodeling. 'Nuff said! Enjoyed PHJB more than I thought I would. Had a lot of "swing" to it.
*Ran into Jacketgirl surprisingly and enjoyed visiting with her
*Saw thatswhatshesaid and got caught up after a long absence
*Have seen better setlists, but who cares, after a 1 1/2 year hiatus they could have played happy birthday for 2 hours and I would have been happy
*Lost crazylove as usual. (3 shows now, I have come to expect it) she pushed up about 3 rows deep and hung with some cool college guys up front
*Rawked total balls with Love Dogg. We leaned against the concrete wall and went to Church on a Sunday. I love that kid. His dedication/knowledge of the band inspires all around him
*Lotsa Cuties! Too bad they were covered up with all of that rain gear and all
*Pit cool and chill. Did not see a single glow stick or dumb fucking drunk besides myself
*I love this venue. Just the right size and peeps in Columbus seem cordial and considerate of others
gotta' get some breakfast and my paid time is almost up...MMJ FOREVA' BABY!!!
Another 'Where to Begin'...lucky @#%^#'s. I thought it was a solid set list. Maybe my 3rd or 4th favorite on this mini tour.
First of all, WHERE TO BEGIN. When I realized they had begun playing it, I experienced one of the most surreal moments I've ever had at a show. I couldn't believe it, even as it was happening.
I loved Preservation Hall's opening set. I don't know most of the songs by name, but I really dug that percussion-heavy one especially. Jim came out to a huge scream and proceeded to yodel for us during his first song. I was smiling the whole time. And then there was St. James Infirmary Blues. His singing on it was perfect with some amazing screams between verses. It was one of the best vocal performances I've ever seen from him live. Then he left the stage and the rest of MMJ came out to play percussion on a faster reprise of the song with the saxophonist completely killing it on the vocal part. Awesomeness.
It was a pretty standard setlist (I'd already heard 17 of the songs live) but the way they played the songs was anything but. Last night had the best Mahgeetah and The Way That He Sings I've ever heard. Off the Record was pretty much stripped down to its skeleton with very little extra jamming and the band more or less keeping to the album version, but it sounded dead on. This was also the loudest Dondante I've ever heard. The guys went completely crazy in the section leading up to the saxophone and it was amazing. Run Thru was as killer as ever, even if it was only half. Speaking of Run Thru, the lights were awesome, especially during that song and Lay Low. And Anytime was a great way to end the set. They did the same thing to me in Detroit. I keep thinking they're going to end with Touch Me Pt. 2, but they never do when I'm around. I love surprises.
As for the songs that weren't standard, they were all wonderful to hear. I've already mentioned Where to Begin. But there was also Tonite I Want 2 Celebrate W/ U!, which I really enjoyed. I thought putting it in the midst of the set, instead of in the encore where it usually is, worked really well. I also appreciated the full band arrangement of Wonderful (The Way I Feel), nice and subtle. I dug Carl's solo song Carried Away much more than I was expecting based on listening to the recordings. It was actually one of my favorite performances of the night. Great choices guys.
The encore with Preservation Hall was ridiculous in a very beautiful way. I really think that they should have recorded the studio version of Highly Suspicious with horns. The arrangement really enhances the song. Evil Urges benefited too certainly. And after Carnival Time, when I was expecting the show to end with Move On Up, there was Dancefloors. So much fun. I almost thought it would be the last song considering the way they were attacking it. But nope, Move On Up closed the show out as I expected and it was a great performance with the pianist from Preservation Hall going amusingly nuts at the end.
Overall, it was a completely amazing show. When are they touring again? :'( ;)
Quote**Lost crazylove as usual. (3 shows now, I have come to expect it) she pushed up about 3 rows deep and hung with some cool college guys up front
that's my girl.... ;) ;)
Excellent night, can't wait to post my pictures and videos. Mike, Joe, Karen and Jen, great to meet all of you.
I was just right of center in the first row, got some great shots. It's the happiest I've ever seen Jim I think too, all the guys looked So well rested.
That dondonte is still giving me the chills..
Don't have time for a proper review at the moment except to say fun fun fun! And lets give Columbus props, on a day with 90 percent chance of thunderstorms and rain all day there was nice turnout for the Preservation set which I am sure pleased Jim and the boys. My friend and I talked to the booker for the venue and they were very pleased with the turnout.

my sentiments exactly. glad y'all enjoyed the show!
how is it that i didn't see ANY of you last night? i thought i spotted TEO before the show, but couldn't catch his eye. before the PHJB set i was scanning the crowd and i caught the eye of my pal ryan, who i had no idea would be there. not the first time this has happened. and not the first town.
rickie monie smashing that guitar and throwing up \m/ \m/ absolutely killed me. that encore was such a dance party. mark braud was playing these great bits during "highly" too. just sly stuff.
and here we are at the end of the tour. hmm.
i've slept 10 hours, am a little post-show stiff and am heading out for coffee and record stores.
i'm so glad the band decided to do these dates. see you kids on the next go 'round! [smiley=beer.gif]
I loved the show, but I must note that some things where off.
Jim wasn't getting there on Wordless Chorus for some reason and the sound was spotty in areas.
Other then that I had an amazing time and the set list was great. I loved the variety they played, way more then what i expected and after seeing them before I have to say I had high expectations and those where exceeded. Carl's song was amazing, I could of listened to that for the whole night and been happy lol.
HOLY COWWWW what a trip! Opening with Blue Yodel #9 with PHJB!!!! My deadhead friends would've been more than pumped if they weren't too cool to tag along! hehehe it was ALLSOME to meet you guys from the forum here! Finally had an outlet for all of my MMJ talk/thoughts...
What a perfect day... head shops were open, parking meters were off for Sundays.... I passed a highway marker that said "Columbus 111 Miles," at 1:11PM!!! I just had to high-five myself hah
Sooooo wish I could have heard the soundcheck though, but super pumped they wound up playing Wonderful later on too! Won two free Ween tickets from the little email sign-up/raffle type prize table!
No glowsticks or outta control folks made it an even more joyful occasion! Definitely snagged some great pics; I may post some on here when I get to sorting them!
For a first-timer, it was pure magick... Front row, a handshake with Mr. James, the Where to Begin I'd been praying for, the timely wave of rain during Dondante that seemed to make it even deeper than it usually is... and that cape has me all riled up still hahahahhah
In TENTS
Can't wait for my next one!![smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]
I can't believe I missed you msy! We scanned the crowd before the show from the deck of the bar and you were no where in sight. We just figured you weren't there... :(
Coming off of Derby Day, the weather that I woke up to was very devilishly whispering, "Don't go to Columbus today. Stay in bed. You need the rest. You can't do it like you used to, Toby." And for the majority of the morning, I was like, "Yeah...you're right. I'll just cozy up with a good rainy Sunday and CTFO."
But then I thought about this being the last show of the mini tour, and how much I had looked forward to this show. I couldn't figure out how to get there by myself without driving. I tried willing it that way, I tried to fly like Superman but I couldn't get enough speed, I looked for a Turbo Boost button in my car...but came to the conclusion that I had to just jump in and practice the old fashioned art of driving to a show for a band that I really care about. I don't go to church, so this is it for me. The gas money is my tythe and the Budweisers when I get there will be communion.
The weather was SHITTY! And people still can't drive, but the road led all the way to Columbus. It's such a pretty and clean city too, having only visited once before, and driven thru a couple of times, I knew that was going to be a treat. And it was!
I always have the best experiences when I go at them alone. This was no different. There's a nervous pride instilled in me when I do this. I had to keep up with no one, and I didn't have to do anything I didn't want to do.
First person I see is TEO! I love this man. What a thru and thru guy. Probably the 5th or 6th time we've hung and it's awesome every time. I feel like we've know each other forever though. Genuine peeps right there! Everybody should listen to him when he speaks. He doesn't like to waste his time on nonsense, so you can be sure that everything he says is worth listening to...even when he's drinking cup, upon cup of double-Maker's! And of course Crazy Love was there! She is so funny. She's been in good company in the passed, with John and Paul, but still alows me to hang around her once in awhile. A beautiful woman with true feelings for JJ. Sure, she'll wonder off, but I know she's going to the light.
Got to meet Jacketgirl and her Steep Water peeps (can't wait to check out this band)! Angela is definitely tuned in to what's going on with the Jacket and seems to be very grounded philosophically. I admire that in her, and hope to run into her every chance I get. Had a good conversation with Joe too. Great peeps from Chi-town!
Wound up leaning on the back rail of the floor with TEO and the tall and very beautiful Agatha (who will be joining the Forum soon) and her boyfriend James, who came all the way from Brooklyn. The good part was that we all got our faces melted at the same time in the same place, but it was a mess trying to figure out who's features were who's in the fleshy puddle after the show. I think we got it together okay.
The crowd was great! I think the rain A) humbled everybody there and B) weeded out all the posers. Plus I think there was something sentimental in the crowd that night with it being their last show of the tour. I know I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
As far as the music: Jim was in a GREAT mood that night! I don't remember any rants, but he was loving playing music to adorers. (Don't Get) Carried Away hits me so hard. I LOVE that song so much. I'm so glad I got to hear it again. It sounds like a Jacket song. Where To Begin, Dancefloors, Wonder (full band), etc...you know...! As soon as Jim walked onstage to sing with the PHJB the rain stopped..until of course Dondante got cooking. And even then it only sprinkled briefly.
The drive home was great until I got to Cincy, then dragged ass. I made it though...and I loved every second of May 2nd. I love my Jacket peeps. And I love being alive at the same time Jim James is alive. Makes me feel special. PEACE!
Jacket Fest 2010, Bitches!!!!!! Bring it on!
Toby, great to see you as usual. We will have a clean bed, cold beer and open arms any time you can to make it to Indy! You know you hold a special place im my heart, and sorry, but when the light beckons, I gotta go.
Nate, you are a turkey lurkey!!! Get a name dude, and join the rest of us on this great place. You will find some very special people on here! And make friends for life that share a lot of the same love. Thanks to you and your crew for being so inviting and fun!
Miss Y, I am so mad that we missed you! We really looked for you. How could that have happened?? I needed my "Jim is my heart throb buddy down front!"
Even though, MMJ left off a few of my favorites, I can't get enough. Especially you; yim yames, JJ, Jim James and maybe even SaraBanannaBear?!

I might have to try that too! 8-) I've got a good chunk of some pics, but I'm on my laptop mostly and my paint shop is on my elden desktop, and it makes things super easy to crop & fix up... hopefullllllyyyyyy I can get those goin' tomorrow! I just had to post that one though, it was quite a moment!!
Wow I just went through the handful of 'videos' i took with my digicam (the sound quality is always for shame...) but I managed to tape the whole of Where to Begin, and I forgot when he was ending, he went "Always startin' over, alllllways startin' over, alllways startin' over, alllways startin' over, allways startin' over... but somehow I always know where, to begin..." It was like an onomatopoeia or something, the starting over of the starting over... the act of the act....the sound that self-describes... or something! It set off sparks on ma brain, glad I at least somewhat captured it....

Very vivid and I totally understand where your coming from, where your coming from, where your coming from...
Another great show...I was surprised at how awesome the PHB were. I also like Lay Low and Dancefloors. The show could have went on for longer I thought, it seemed to me that they stopped at 10:30.

Hahahahahah that was a great reply! Good stuff, glad you git me on that!
As far as the vid goes, I was *going* to offer to put it up on youtube, but the sound quality is..... an oxymoron :-/ There's no real quality there.. and when everyone yells and sings it gets real scratchy and crazy... you can follow it, but it's almost like getting a live concert voicemail, with all the crazy buzzing and cutting out, etc, etc.... lots of background noisssse...
But then again I
do always still reeeeeeally enjoy any and all live show phone calls.... so based on my own personal theory there, maybe you guys
would still like it??
I'll give it my best shot to get it onto youtube! But I'm taaaaaakin' it down if it makes yr ears bleed!!!

Hello everyone. I've been a long time reader of this forum but I've just never taken the time to join the conversation until now.
I think the first time I heard MMJ was their first appearance on Austin City Limits after Z was released. Needless to say, I was immediately hooked! And to make things even better, my wife has become a huge MMJ fan as well! :) And until Sunday night, we had yet to have the pleasure of experiencing these guys LIVE! Let me tell you, that show was certainly worth the wait!!! 8-) And also let me tell you, I will not be waiting so long to see them live again! ;)

Everyone, please welcome n8 to the family! He is a true believer. I hope that at least my friends and oldtimers give him a shout out to make him feel at home!
Hope to meet up with you again.
Remember; Jacket up, bitches! 2010 (jacket fest 2010) :) :)
Hey n8, welcome. Heard quite a bit about you already!

Hey, sorry I didn't get to meet any of y'all at the show! I had no internet access at home, so couldn't really do much last-minute coordinating. Next time! Welcome N8!
Were any of you standing on the rail in the back of the front (cement) section? I may have seen some of you and not even known it. Where were y'all at during the show?! Luckily I'm just tall enough to have been able to see over the crowd standing where I was. And I could use the cement wall to stand on my tip-toes if I really needed that extra height. Plus it was easier to get out to hit the men's room or the beer line.
Great show! I cannot believe I heard Where to Begin! And Carl singing lead...I had no idea. Nice surprise.
The ONLY complaint I have, and this is fairly minor, is that I can never hear the vocals or lead guitars quite enough. I mean, sometimes they stand out and I can hear them just fine. Other times, it's like they're lost in a mush of bass and bass drum. I even noticed this while watching the 'Roo '06 show online. I just plain couldn't hear Carl on the webcast most of the time. I dunno. I've definitely heard worse as far as sound mixing. It's just not my "ideal" mix at any of their shows so far. It's weird though, if I closed my eyes, I could hear what was "missing" from the mix with my eyes open. Again, I'm NOT bitching at all. It probably has a lot to do with where you're standing. They still sounded great and it was a great show.

Hey Kids,
Wow Wow Wow Wow! I have missed this band. I can honestly say that seeing them again felt like a huge, warm hug from above.
The setting/ rain /opening band was a perfect prelude to the show. I really dug that venue. I was able to watch half in the pit and half from all the way atop the venue. I am so glad I got to see it both ways - 2 very different experiences. It is hard for this short gal to see when I am in the first 10-50 rows. I would have been up front with MsY had I known she was in town! :P
Opening with One Big Holiday just ripped. It was mayhem from that moment on..and I mean that in the most rocking way. I had to strain on my tippy toes to see the familiar sites of them rockin' back and forth to the music but HAD to get that in my head. The rest of the night was amazing. I thought the band looked in good health and seemed to be having the time of their lives.
Everyone has said it but Where to Begin was sublime. I loved how Jim added the extra "Always startin' over..." verses. If you must know, I was balling like a child. It felt cathartic though.
Smokin from Shootin is a stunner.
And SING It CARL! That was a nice surprise...
As always, MMJ was completely giving and true. I thank them for each note of music they have played and will ever play. :-* :-*
TEO nice to see you brother! I am so glad we spotted each other.
Low Down - feel like I've always known ya. and that always seems to be the case when someone is good people, you just know. You're a good man. :) Joe really enjoyed talking with you too. (steepwater.com)
p.s. I forgot - I'm JacketGal now - when I went to change it back a LONG time ago, someone else had the name....
Cheers y'all! ;D
anyone record this show?
Glad to see you back Gal! You are an insightful and important member... :)
Quoteanyone record this show?
I hope someone did. I looked around from time to time during the show but didn't see anyone with a set up to record.

boy, if i had spotted you in the crowd i would have just lit up! i had no idea you were going to be there! it was great to have shared such a fab dance party with you, even at a distance! [smiley=beer.gif]

THANK YOU JPV!

Aaaaaaaaahhhhh... well for any who might still wish to see the pics I got from the Columbus show, HERE THEY LIE!
I hope this link works...I just edited them all evening and got all carried away and flamboozled with this shutterfly site...

It seems to work each time I click it, but give a hoot/holler if it doesn't show up....
I'm mildly disappointed that it doesn't show all of the pics in their full sizes, but at least they are finally visible! (You can double-click the pics to view them larger, too, though it's still not always full-size....)
Man that took long enough ::)

Me three! Beautiful night. "Dondante" was particularly stellar.
This was my second show, but the first one was a week or so before. As soon as I got back to my hotel in Nashville I bought a ticket to Columbus. Then Columbus was better.
remember Ricky M. of PHJB busting up that guitar at the front of the stage? hilarious! ;D

My Wife and I will be back at the LC! 8)
Anyone planning a pre-show meet up? My wife and I hung out at Gordon Biersch Brewery last year pre-show until the rains let up.
Anyone know of any other places within walking distance of the LC that serve up good beers?

i was gonna have a pre-show party then cab it, but my friends are dropping like flies. my suggestion would be elevator. its a lil more of a hike than gordon biersch, but worth it.

I was there last year too. Great show. Loved PHJB. If anyone wants to meet up before this show shoot me a PM. Just me and one friend so far, so we'd love to get a bigger group together!
Oh man, flashback to last year at Columbus..... that BLUE YODEL #9 STILL TRIPS ME OUT!!! F'n MEGAPHONE!!! What a killer opening with PHJB.........
My wife and I will be there! My 11th Jacket show. And to top it all off, I won soundcheck tickets this morning on CD101!!! Yessssssssssssssssssss!!!! Looking forward to seeing what that's all about.
I won soundcheck tickets for The Black Keys last year through Magnolia Thunderpussy and it was basically a meet and greet since they were running late :'(. Hopefully MMJ actually plays for you.

Awesome! I got there late last year but twofingers and woodnymph said you could hear the soundcheck quite well from the A&R bar next door
