Is it wrong to assume a show in Louisville will go down at some point this year? It's looking like I can swing one MMJ trip this year, and have always wanted to see them on their home turf. I'm kind of holding out for a L'ville show, but don't want to miss the boat all together if it's not going to happen. Thoughts?
Fingers crossed.
Quote Thoughts?
i am clinging to the idea that the hometown rock stars will be given the honor of opening the new downtown arena this fall. the first official event scheduled so far is a U of L womens hoops game vs. tennessee November 12th. men's hoops vs. butler on the 16th. maybe the powers that be will want to hold an event before then to work out any bugs.....assuming it's finished on time.
nothing but wishful thinking at this point. but it sure would be cool.

NYE
that too would be cool. perhaps even cooler.
I would expect a Louisville date this year. I've heard two rumors floating around town. One was that they were trying to book Freedom Hall. The other is that they were going to play the new arena in a series of "firsts" and that they would have the honor of being the first rock n roll show that arena has hosted. I'm fine either way. But both are just rumors at this point.

This.
I'd come to Louisville for that.

Ditto.
MMJ management will surely take note of these commitments. ;)
Of this I am certain. ;)

Hope they do a hometown show, cause I need to take my sis and brother-in-law to a show.
I want an outdoor show. In the summer. On a Saturday.

I'm stayin with you. ;)
my vote is that they play forecastle. just a thought
I was recently down on the river for Waterfront Wednesday. A certain person closely related to the music scene was asked when we could expect a MMJ Louisville show. He pointed in the direction of the Great Lawn and the new arena and said it would be the first time The Jacket will have played the venue in question. Conclusion.............
:o
The YUM! Center is due to open in November of this year. A NYE gig there (maybe even a two night run) would be perfect with all things considered. It just makes sense.
Here is a webcam and countdown link on the home page:

NYE in Louisville? I'll start saving my pennies now!
NYE would be nice, but traditionally they play Louisville on Thanksgiving and that seems just as likely, but I'm just spitballing here.
Forecastle announced that the Smashing Pumpkins are headlining on Saturday so I'm guessing Forecastle is officially out for those still holding out hope for that one.

If you hadn't 've said it, I would have.
looks like the eagles have been chosen as the first event in the new arena, mid-october (they're sure it will be finished by then??). don't love 'em, don't hate 'em, but would never pay big $$$$ to see them live.

I hate the fucking Eagles!

Is that for real? That's awesome for ya hometowners!
peacenutt, please elaborate elaborate elaborate!! I want a list of verifiable and/or hyper-linked sources! Or at least when can we expect news about such a show???
NYC is their new hometown.
As much as I would like to respectfully disagree, I suppose I can't make any judgments until more dates come out.
The 5 show run in NYC makes economical/exposure/record company ideals sense, but Ive always expected/hoped them to be unexpectationalistic...
If it turns out you're right about a change of address for the band, my PO box might strategically change as well. Until then, I have my hopes and desires in the south.

you best watch that kinda talk mister
this peacenutt character speaks truth, maybe not exactly spooky but real real close. expect an announcement in the next few weeks.
book it

No hyper-linked sources for U! Only the assurance of a reliable music source. News to be revealed in the coming days grasshopper. Visualize Whirled Peas. ;D

Um...but...didn't they just announce a Halloween show in New Orleans? :-/
Nah...they're only playing one night of the festival, right?
I'm holding on to hope. ;)
I think they're going to open the festival and close Halloween in L-ville.
I think you're right, Penny. Even though mmj has a bigger fan base in New Orleans than Ozzy and Muse, i doubt theyll close the thing.
Especially since they were added after most acts, and they're listed third from the top as the big headliner.
in which case I'll be selling my saturday and sunday voodoo tickets and booking it back up North for Louisville...damn
can they top last year's MOF halloween show encore?
i'm sure they can, but it's hard for me to imagine how mere mortals can achieve such awesomeness......

i would not do that if i were you

Hmm...I suppose this means you're suggesting a Saturday or Sunday Voodoo set? I assume that you're not saying I should hold onto my tickets in order to catch Ozzy :P (no disrespect)
I just wish some freakin' tour dates would adorn the homepage so that I'll feel better about living off of PB & J's in order to save up...
it has nothig to do with ozzy
Interesting. Maybe I'll need to make a Halloween costume for Voodoo after all! Thanks for the food for thought...
rmpotsy and peace nutt: If you guys truly do know something like y'all are implying, then I don't understand why you wouldn't just come out and tell us.
It would be great to know which day the band was playing at Voodoo and also very helpful to know if there really is gonna be a show in Louisville around the same time.
Help some fellow forum members out...... we gotsta make plans.
Maybe Sticky will get a tweet from Patrick soon and then we'll really know what's going on.

yeah, stop teasing.
also, how are they playing anywhere on halloween when i've committed them to Vespa's WEDDING
I was just hoping maybe sticky would discuss the virtues (or lack of) of sig pics again.

not to be an a$$, but what i was told i was told in confidence and im just not comfortable breaking that trust anymore than i already have. ive probably already said too much, but after peacenutt said his piece, i thought me confirming it wouldnt be bad. and then when easyrider said he was going to sell his sat/sun tix at voodoo, i just wanted to prevent him from making a mistake. i would think there should be an announcement pretty soon.
i know nothing of the voodoo schedule, just here.
Hmmmm....interesting. MMJ on Saturday would be nice -- Saints play the Steelers on Sunday in the Dome and it's Roethlisberger's first game back, I think.
I'd bet that Muse is the end-all-be-all closer unless they have another commitment somewhere.
I'm thinking the same thing NoVa. As much as I would love for them to close things out, Muse seems to be the bigger deal to "most people" for reasons I don't quite understand...
I think mmj would give the city a show that's spookier in the New Orleans kinda way as a Halloween closer though...hopefully soon means REAL SOON to find out about these dates!!!
And rmpotsy, thanks much for the Voodoo heads up. I think we all understand your binding situation and appreciate your consideration ;)
no problem, i just didnt want to see someone screw themselves over

I would like to concur with rmpotsy. I probably let my excitement of the confirmation get the better of me. It did not take long to realize I should let this play out the way the band would like it to. I often check in on all things MMJ, but only rarely share my thoughts. I hope I have not upset anyone too much, and I look forward to the next face melt with the faithful. peace and love.
:)
No worries, rmpotsy and peace nutt..... It's just I've got an MMJ concert jones that gets worse by the day and just wanted y'all to either fill us in or cool it with the Jacket-Teasin'.
I can understand y'all not feeling comfortable posting on their forum something told to y'all in confidence, but I sure do hope they make some sort of announcement soon.
i didnt read the whole thread, but i think a louisville date is well deserved. there are a ton of loyal fans in their home town. by the end of 2010 i will have driven to nashville, columbus, new orleans, and chicago to see jacket and lexington to see yim... i dont think its ridiculous to ask for a waterfront show... which is walk distance from my home for a change. i can't believe how big forecastle is this year, and still no jacket.
